La Bodega Del Viejo San Juan - Restaurant in San Juan, Puerto Rico
Good food. Good service. Stumbled upon it by accident while walking around Old San Juan, and I’d definitely go back.
Food is only ok, a bit salty but ok.Service is friendly and fast, the restaurant is close to any other restaurants so you have a lot of options for eating.
I was on vacation in Puerto Rico and I went to visit El Moro, Felt hungry and went to this place. Amazing food, had flavor every single bite probably one of the best restaurants I’ve ever been too! I would highly recommend this place, service was amazing too.
This is a must stop if youre in San Juan! The mofongo with shrimp and the chicken with fried rice and plantains are excellent! I stopped here twice because it was so good. The decor and vibe are really cool too, its a combination of Cuban and Puerto Rican food and ambiance. The staff is very friendly and fun to talk to. Also, best mojitos that Ive had in San Juan!
1st time we came 2 days ago we were so hungry we just dug in and then realized how good the food was (too late for a decent pic lol). We are back here on Sunday for brunch and couldnt be happier (we tried another Cuban - PR blend restaurant yesterday just down the street and it was awful). Highly recommend the Picadillo El Güajiro Enyemao, mofongo with chicken, breakfast quesadilla y el pique!
The waitress was very friendly and explained the top goods and service was great. Mofongo was amazing
EAT HERE!!!! Omg. We randomly decided to eat here while on a stop during our cruise and couldnt stop talking about the food for the next week! We had the chicken mofungo (ommfgas a group appetizer and various dishes for entrees. Table was super quiet...thats how u know the food was banging 😂
This Place Is A Little Gem! The food was absolutely amazing 10 stars if i could give it! I has the pollo con arroz & my husband has the burger which was to die for! It was stuffed with peppers and fresh herbs you could just taste all the flavors in both meals! You could tell everything was fresh!! The service was great as well! Definitely going back when i come back to PR!
Great service and great food. Breakfast menu is available all day, it was great.
Came in out of the rain and discovered a fantastic little bar and restaurant. 2 for $10 mojitos were quite tasty and the food was very fresh and good. Highly recommend!! Faurys was absolutely fabulous!!!! Best possible server!!!
Excellent staff, great vibe and decor. Food and cocktails were on point. Great location at the edge of old San Juan. Check it out and it wont disappoint.
Great food and great service in the heart of San Juan.
Everything was great, the server was friendly and the food and drinks were really good.
Best grouper I have eaten in a while. The presentation of the food and the quantity is excellent. It is worth your money. The service and the staff were great. Give it a try, you will not regret it!!!!
So good! Janice was the best! The Puerto Rican style rice is the bomb!
The food and service were excellent! We had the shrimp mofongo and Ropa Vieja and both were delicious. The drinks were a little weak, but okay. I definitely recommend this place when youre in Old San Juan!
After our cruise, we stayed an extra night in San Juan and this restaurant and bar happen to be on the street we were staying. We stopped in to check it out and were pleasantly surprised with a nice comfortable atmosphere, great food and great service. I will definitely try to come back on my next visit to San Juan!
Cute little spot with outdoor seating, great view, great food, friendly staff. They serve breakfast all day; the eggs and veggie quesadillas were amazing. And, they let you sign the wall when youre done!
While walking around in Old San Juan, we got thirsty. This place looked decent so we stopped in. The bodega had air conditioner, the atmosphere was pleasant and pretty chic, the servers were very pleasant. The mojitos were very strong, we did not try any food. Over the years, many, many customers signed their names on the walls of the bodega, which gives this place an unusual and cool look. Outside seating was available.
This place was great! I didnt eat much, but what i had was really good! Service was extremely friendly and i always had everything i needed. All of the staff was very friendly and helpful. Fair prices, great location, and a cool atmosphere. A great respite from the heat and sun!
This place is great! Nice atmosphere, good wait staff, and awesome food! I would definitely come again. If you find yourself in Old San Juan, stop by and get a drink or a meal.
We had lunch on our visit to San Juan and found the food to be fantastic! Service was great as well and we signed our names to the wall. I had the Grouper Trifango.... Amazing!!!
Amazing food, good vibe and great staff
Amazing Food. We just stopped in for an appetizer and drinks after visiting the Fort.... but then asked for the menu back, when it was just sooo good. Like insanely good.Got to sign the walls which was a but of fun.But go for the food! Also right next to the entrance of the Fort, a national park.
Only there briefly while on a tour, but the pork sliders & mini chicken empanadas were amazing so was the passion fruit pina colada! Wish we had more time!!
Is not bad! But once I got late for work because we had to wait too long for mofongo! I love the wine list you can find various wines there.. The mofongo is very good! Service is fine not the best one!
Highly recommend this place! Great mojito special of 2 for $10 was EXCELLENT!! The dumplings and plantains appetizers were both delicious as well. Friendly service. Great find!!
Wow! This place is great. The staff here is super helpful and nice. Angel (our waiteris passionate about the food and drinks here and can recommend some delicious food. We have visited San Juan twice and this restaurant was a must on both trips. Such a convenient location down town. Highly recommend the Pina Colada and Shrimp Mofongo. Dont miss the opportunity to indulge in this Cuban/Puerto Rican experience.
Amazing service and food!!! Thank you to the servers for an amazing time. Came with a party of 8 and they were very nice and accommodating. Don’t forget to sign the wall before leaving!!
We wanted to try some good Puerto Rican food while our cruise was visiting. We stumbled upon La Bodega after visiting the large national park fort (forget the name). It was some of the best food we’ve ever had. We tried the mufungo, quesadillas and Puerto Rican rice. It was a touch pricey but both dishes are shared and we left for about $60 for 4 people. (No alcohol). If you want something typical and delicious try this place!!
Mixed feelingsIt has a good menu, but the quality was mixed: alcapurrias for apetizers were great. The hamburger was good, but the fries were not. The mofongo was average quality: you can definitely get something better and more quantity for a lower price. We went with a Gustazo (like a Groupon offer), and they didnt have the dessert. The place is very nice, though, and the customer service was good too.
My family and I was just there last week , Love Love the place !! The food was so tasty < the wait staff over the top, Next time Im in San Juan I will definitely eat there again.
This was the first restaurant I went to once I came to Pr . THE BEST FOOD everything was so clean prices are good people are helpful. I will come back
I just went here with my wife, she had a arroz con pollo and I had the Mofongo con cerdo and both dishes were amazing!!! Very tasted and we are so full haha. Def recommended!
The food was fantastic. Tourist friendly. Warm atmosphere but the food does cost a bit more than average. It is right next to the fort which made for an easy meal after exploration.
The staff is wonderful, friendly, and accommodating. Coffee is great, food and drinks are even better. I would absolutely recommend stopping in.It overlooks a busy plaza with vendors and shops all around, right near the port if you are on a cruise and a short walk from the main hotel area in Old San Juan. They give you markers to put your name or a message on the walls. Its a fun, lively, and cozy interior.
They were fantastic! We got there a little bit before they opened but they let us in and seated us anyway, the service was super quick and friendly even though we were there before they officially openened, they offered suggestions for what to do with our day and the food was amazing!
The best Mojitos and Mofongo Relleno was delicious! I would definitely recommend this place.
It is near the fort, so convenient but Im not sure wed come again. to be fair the area is still recovering from a rough hurricane season. Went during the early afternoon, while there on a cruise. It took a really long time to find someone to seat us and the place was not busy. Once we found someone that worked there, we were told to seat ourselves... and then, after waiting quite a bit, had to hunt someone down again to take our order. They were out of a bunch of stuff (not a big deal, again supplies probably impacted by hurricanes), and food took a long time to serve. food and drinks were OK. pretty disappointing overall.
Came to eat on our last day in old San Juan. Their first day open since the hurricane. Great food (recommend the ropa Vieja on tostones). Janice was great and friendly.
Service was fast and very nice but food was meh. Mac & Cheese with shrimp was overcooked, groper was too salty, rice undercooked, fries were bland, happy hour drinks (sangria and mojitowere no where in comparison to the other places nearby. Would not recommend.
Best food in Puerto Rico!! Beautiful decor, attentive service!! Definitely recommend to anyone!
The best food weve had in Puerto Rico. Nice staff and cool dining area for those hot summer days. Cant wait to visit again.
Long, long, long wait for french fries and fried chicken with maybe 20 people in restaurant at lunch on a Monday. Totally killed our time to enjoy San Juan and the food was better at Burger king.
La Bodega fashions itself as a "Cuban Rican" restaurant, describing Puerto Rico and Cuba as "sister" islands and the restaurant does have the feel of both cultures. When we were there they had Cuban music playing and the atmosphere was festive. We didnt have any entrees... just appetizers but they were delicious.
This is officially my first review. I came upon this place driving to El Moro. It caught my eye and I looked it up after reading the reviews, so my fiance and I decided to return the following evening for dinner. Although they had an event already planned they made room for us. Gallep, the waiter (hope I spelled his name correctwas friendly and attentive. Carlos the owner introduced himself and shared the reason behind his cozy ,welcoming, but modern establishment. I urge all to stop by and enjoy a little bit of Puerto Rican/Cuban hospitality. Gracias Carlos.
Recommended by Dan the Man. Best mfungo y yuca EVER!!! Ever in old San Juan definitely go! The burger was amazing! No sauce needed. Service and prices were great! Would give more stars if possible!!
Completely fabulous dining experience. Delightful ambience. Friendly, charming wait staff. Wonderful cuisine. Reasonable prices. Could not understand why this amazing place wasnt packed with a line out the door! Will definitely return next year.
Great food. Snapper Crusty Strips, Havanna Dumpings and Croquetas de Bacalao were veryvery good. Chorizo in wine was excellent as well.
Snapper strips were amazing! Dipped in honey, tasted like the best chicken fingers Ive every had. A guy on the street stopped us wandering around and sent us here
