Zahnradstrasse 21, 8005 Zürich, Switzerland, Zürich (Kreis 4)
Large former industrial space now serving a pan-Asian menu including tappanyaki, Thai & sushi.
Nika & Dave.It was our 1st time here. We enjoyed everything. The underwater movie beamed on the wide wall was fantastic and relaxing background. Dimmed lights, candles, Terrakotta Army, Chinese & Japanese decorations, flowers etc.My fried lobster was delicious & Daves Malaysian Beef Filet as well. The atmosphere was calm & peacefull with some nice, pleasant background music. We would like to come again.
I used to like the place for business lunches but after my last experience I will not go there again. It ultimately came down to the service staff why I was so disappointed (my Thai Curry was average and not even well presented). The waitress’s attitude gave the impression that she doesn’t really care nor that she enjoys her job. She wasn’t attentive nor friendly or welcoming, and it’s quite expensive too for what you get.
Terrible food, expensive, and did I mention terrible food?
Standard Asian Fastfood. Too salty for my liking but can be a good option for a quick Asian lunch option. More for the people working in the area. Nothing special to make a trip for.
Very bad servce the restaurant was empty and they Managed to take my order wrong
Service is below average. Location is nice. Food is ok.
For the lunch/takeaway: chicken is imported from Brazil (!!). Low-quality and environmentally disastrous. Disappointing.
I arrived at 20:00 on Saturday evening, for a take away and they refused to serve me, pretending the kitchen was already closed. Rude and unprofessional
nice location, but thats about it. Terrible service, no spirit and atmosphere. Food is below average but priced at high-end for Asian food. And then they let all the home-delivery staff walk through the restaurant the whole evening...why not use a separate entrance?
food is not bad, but they have very few options for vegans.
Pretty good lunch spot, portion sizes and price line up well
Nice restaurant with sufficient space. Prices on the upper level.
Expensive (for the portion sizesand slow, with a confused service - better check that they got your order correctly. The location is great, the hall comfy. There are better options in Zurich.
food was ok, tasted nothing special and was kinda stale.
Made an order via deindeal.ch and instead of noodles they sent plain rice. I called them about half an hour before their closing time and they did not answer. Also the people from deindeal tried several times calling them and they did not respond. Also the other dish (noodles with beefthat we ordered was of poor quality. Spring rolls were quite good.
Their website stated that they serve "Okonomiyaki". We booked a table specifically for that, when we showed up the waitress told us they do not serve that anymore. Very disappointing.
Restaurant was almost empty but the seater placed us, a couple, right between two families with small children. After asking if we could have a different table - the restaurant was almost empty - he said its not possible as there were some other (maybe more importantguests, who did not want anyone seated next to them. Service was ok. Food seemed fair at first sight, however, pretty much an hour after eating there, I started to have severe, painful stomach cramps and was throwing up all evening. So considering the overall experience and that its also not really a cheap place, I would not go there again.
I have mixed feelings about the restaurant part of LYS.To start, the food was very good. But that was pretty much all that was good. It is possible that we were unlucky, but during our visit the service and place werent up to the task.Firstly, we arrived 30 minutes after the evening opening on a Sunday, and the restaurant was a mess - chopsticks and bits of food on the floor, unset tables. Not sure why the restaurant wasnt cleaned up before the opening time, not to mention 30 minutes after. While some of the staff were nice and friendly, some were a bit lacking in regards to communication or wait time.Another bit is that there is utterly no information about the lack of the whole Sushi menu on Sundays - we were only told when placing orders that the sushi chef does not work on Sunday. This should be clear from the start, ideally with a separate menu on the days the sushi is no available!Overall the experience didnt really match the prices in my opinion. If the service/cleanliness were better, the prices would have been ok too.
Take away food is great, the seating places are nice and convenient. If you feel the need to eat at the restaurant you can walk off to the next room. The employees dont speak often but you can tell that theyre nice people. Overall a great place to eat lunch.
We had several unpleasant experiences here, from unfriendly service over meat in the veggie food to simply not fresh dishes, so that we decided to no longer get take out here anymore. We‘d rather walk a bit to Lilys Langstrasse instead in order to get value for the price.
The restaurant itself is an interesting industrial space with a cool atmosphere. However, the food was mediocre at best and Im sure takeout would have been tastier. We arrived at the restaurant at 5:30 and did not get our main course till 7:45, even though the restaurant was practically empty until 6:30. The waitresses were polite but made only sporadic appearances every 30 minutes or so. Overall, it was a frustrating experience to have to pay to be annoyed and ignored for 2 hours.
Food is exceptionally good there, however the difference of pricing between takeaway and delivery is surprising. Worth it nonetheless.
Great take away, friendly staff, food is always hot and fresh. They also have a dine in menu as well
We go there sometimes because it’s close to the office. The food is good and to a fair price (for the area). There are long lines at lunch. It’s nothing special but a nice choice to go sometimes.
A very busy place to be. But the food is amazing and affordable for Swiss standards. Sadly I forgot to take some picture but the food looked very authentic and tasted really good. You can choose between ready prepared meals and Ala card orders. As said the prices are OK and the amount of food you are getting is plenty full. I will come back
Rude staff, asked for spicy, didnt get spicy, asked again, told me to get my own chilis. Absolute disgrace. But thats only the guy, the ladies are very friendly and helpful.
This place is a joke. Nothing to do with Asia, greasy stuff, tasteless, cheap ingredients. The only good thing about eating here is that you won’t need lip balm afterwards. Shiny greasy lips guarantee. Stay away!
This is the absolute WORST experience I have ever had in all of Europe. Do NOT go here if you are not Swiss and do not speak German. We were actually kicked out because they do not offer an English OR French menu (I asked for either as I speak both). The staff was extremely rude, the waiter put his nose in the air, scoffed, and walked away from our table after he realized we were not German speakers. This is the WORST, most unwelcoming restaurant I have ever been to and thats saying something coming from an American who lives in Paris. Absolutely terrible, and it was my poor mothers first time in Switzerland. Avoid at all costs.
Far too expensive for what they offer: small overpriced portions. My Szechuan duck tasted like fast-food at best and was almost 40 CHF (whitout a side dish!). Never again.
Words fail me to describe the awful experience my friends and I had at this restaurant. The faux-chic interior itself wasnt unattractive and certainly mitigated some of the "mess hall" atmosphere one could perceive upon entering the place. Service was unfriendly and unprofessional at best; prices, on the high end, while portions were definitely small. Nothing too out of the ordinary so far: this is Switzerland, after all.As we did not want to shell out $55 for the cheapest bottle of wine – which, needless to say, you could find around $35 elsewhere –, we went with three glasses of white wine ($8-9 eachand a (smallpitcher of tap water. Food was decent: by no means great, but not bad either, and as mentioned above, portions were on the small side. Upon taking our order, the waitress asked whether wed prefer white rice or noodles with our main dishes, which we understood to be included in the price and were a bit disappointed to find later on the check as an additional $3 each – but, again, nothing out of the ordinary. However, as far as Im concerned, $3 for the tap water was downright outrageous. Dishonest, even. As soon as I noticed that, I asked the waitress about it, who replied in a rather condescending manner that since we "hadnt ordered wine" (by which she meant a bottle, like proper customers), they had no choice but to charge that amount. I asked to have a word with the owner, who obviously did not want to confront me because I had to ask three more times for him to show up. When he finally did, the man proceeded to whine that he, too, had to pay for the water, and how was he supposed to pay his staff? While I appreciate a boss treating his staff fairly, thats an excuse I wont accept. Not a word of apology and no dignity whatsoever. Total disgrace. My personal opinion is that this kind of person doesnt deserve your money, and I recommend people avoid this place altogether.
I had the Massaman curry with rice here. It was delicious. The vegetables were al dente and the tofu pieces soft but still chewy. The sauce was just about the right consistency, though a tad spicy for my personal taste. Customer service was satisfactory and the venue was spick and span. I Highly recommend.
Conveniently located near several hotels, small grocery stores & office buildings, where there arent many other dining options. Affordable for Zurich, offering a nice selection of different Asian cuisines, such as Thai, Malaysian, Chinese & Japanese. Friendly, helpful staff & clean tables to sit down, although many people take away. Food was good not great, but I would definitely come back & try other dishes.
Small portion, had to ask guests to move despite resrvation, veeerryyy slow/relaxed service. No flexibility in ordering. Menu on website broken. Great food, kind chef. Good atmosphere, clean.
Finally found Hiroshima Style Okonomyiaki! It was so delicious, I had to eat two in a row! The taste is pretty authentic and the portions good for a light lunch! Was a pleasant discovery for me and will definitely come back. Make sure to reserve a place for the Teppanyaki.
Had the best Terriyaki Dinner in Zurich at Lys. Can definitely recommend you to head over to their upper floor for a date or even a business meeting. Youll receive great entertainment from the cook and from the staff. Thanks a lot for your kind service and delicious cuisine Lys!
Great, fast and fresh food. For those who like spicy foods its delicious. They can make non spicy too for those who arent as brave. They serve a variety of styles of food from Thai, Chinese even Malaysian. Very affordable as well, for Switzerland.
Its a fine and nice dining Place. a little bit overpriced compared to other Thai or Asian Kitchen restaurants in Town. The food is good but not extra.
A good selection of Chinese, Malaysian, and Thai food. There offer sit in and takeaway options.
Lys Takeaway, next door to Lys Asia Restaurant, is a cheaper choice of great Asian cuisine. Order at the cashier and pick up food. You can dine at their tables or take way. Food was delicious and very reasonably priced.
I regularly go to the Takeaway section where you can quickly grab food in a plate and take a seat - not the typical Takeaway. You can also really take it with you if you want. There are a number of different asian menus and you can choose between rice and noodles. The portions are above average and the prices are absolutely ok for Zurich. The staff is very nice and there is a loyalty program (get the 11th meal free). All in all I can absolutely recommend this place.
My food was not really warm. Also it tastes like the most generic Asian food. There are so kany better places around, do not go there.
Actually 3.5 starsThis is a hit or miss kind of place. Depending what you choose and if youre a lucky person :)I like the banana leaf salad and the Thai style lemongrass beef was good, too. Stay away from the dumplings. I think this needs capital letters: STAY AWAY FROM ALL DUMPLINGS! I had the dim sum sampler and the scallop dumplings and it was a sad story without a happy ending. Hard dough, unbalanced flavour, didnt taste like they were freshly made. One dumpling seemed to be made of Italian ravioli dough... Service is also hit or miss, depending on whos responsible for your table. Interior is spacious, modern, clean and good for groups.Edit: thinking that the scallop dumplings cost me 6.- per piece.. Did I mention to not order any dumplings??The overall experience seemed overpriced.
Was here for a quick while “formal” dinner before concert. Very efficient (done in 40 mins). It’s Lily’s at its higher end but still keeps its fun and young culture
There are two parts to the Lys Asia. Theres Lys Restaurant, which is a more like a formal restaurant. Then theres Lys Take Away which is more a quick eat-n-go restaurant. This review is regarding the Take Away restaurant.Very clean and bright. Price is average, but worth it. I ate Udon Noodle Soup and it was great! Great quality, the noodles were perfect, and perfect amount for me.Easily reached with public transportation and also available parking (prime parkhausjust next door. (I paid Fr. 3.- for 1 hour)Very good impression of the Lys Take Away. Next time will try the restaurant.P.S. Theres tepanyaki in the 1. floor which is part of Lys Asia.
Evening take away experience has become horrid over the last few months. Frequently missing items from the order, wrong items, the chili sauce from the very hot dish is just being reused for the other supposedly non hot dishes because the cook seems to be too lazy to do it properly. Cant recommend anymore.
Nice place and I like the food here, although its usually quite crowded and noisy and their over-head menu is totally chaotic / incomprehensible. So I rather choose from what I seen in the pans :-)
Good Asian food and they are flexible if you wish something to be different. But rather expensive. I payed CHF 19.- for rice with vegetarian sweet and sour.
The restaurant is fabulous ..very nice ambience fine dinning..food was good..slightly high price but again quality comes with a price..service was very good..food was served in time..I recommend anyone who visits zurich should come here once
They have great choice of adian food meals. The prices aee normal Zurich prices, but really okay for the amount you receive.
Boring service. After one hour we got the wrong food. More boring was the service and incompetence of service. We were 3 person. The first got the menu within 5 min. the 2dn got it when the 1st was finsih with eating and the 3rd person got the menu after 1 hour. He couldnt eat it because we had to go to cwork. No excuse from service at all .As we saw more guests had the same problem.LYS ASIA NEVER AGAIN. !!!
