Hip, industrial-chic pizzeria with a 'disco ball' oven, for brunch, drinks and Italian small plates.
Nice food and atmosphere overall. The place is very pricey though (for no reasonand our food took so long to get prepared.
Decent Italian, short menu, great vibes and not too pricey. Would recommend.
Food was really tasty, friendly staff and a lovely atmosphere.
Uncomplicated food done very well. Really tasty. Lovely service, Iain and Tereza were great hosts! Would definitely come again 😊
Lovely atmosphere in Lardo. Staff are friendly and attentive but not overbearing. The food is quite good and I would recommend trying it for sure. I found the dishes to be overly rich however and quite salty. The focaccia and olives are delicious as a starter or even just those items with drinks would be lovely. Thanks for a nice time boys.
To the review below - as a black person Ive been to Lardo many of times and have always felt very welcomed and well looked after.
Do not go here if you are black, all of the front of house staff are white, and you will be served dead last compared to other customers, with snarky customer service. Hard Pass for black and brown people.
We have been regulars of Lardo for years either for romanting dates or for getting puzza take away because their Italian cuisine is the best around the area.Staff is usualy friendly. Thanks guys!!!
18 pounds for a 3 piece ravioli monkfish ( which it could have been any type of frosted fishhonestly I can’t even recall. The starter dry , pizza reduced and with canned artichokes. A real joke
Where do I start.. Firstly I want to say how exceptional the service was - the manager Temi took our table, and not only did he tend to all our needs, but he made us feel like he was welcoming us into his his home for the night.. a lovely irish waiter took care of our drinks and always made sure our table was clean of any empty glasses or plates and I haven’t event talked about the food yet… Hats off to the guys running the pizza oven, because I may have just tasted the best pizza in all of east london (sorry zia lucia).. All in all a 5 star night and definitely a restaurant i’ll revisit hopefully sooner rather than later.
First time at Lardo and WOW. Food 10/10, Cocktails 11/10 (I don’t usually like Aperol as I feel they are always on the top-butter side, but had the best Aperol of my life hereand service 12/10 - attentive, constantly topping us up, super warm and made us feel right at home. Loved it and will be back! Extra points for new pizza oven which is not only beautiful piece in the dining space but makes a light and crispy finish on the pizzas (my fave)
Great risotto verde, good pizzas and nice Portuguese white wine. Food was pretty slow to come out, but they gave us focaccia on the house to keep us waiting, so it wasn’t too bad!
This restaurant is not organised to serve groups of 8 people with 2 kids. #1 unfortunate olive oil accident Resulting in one coat and a shirt ruined with no commercial gesture done. #2 despite asking for kids to be served first and fast it took more than 30 minutes to get them to get a bowl of pasta with tomato sauce. Anyone with kids will know 30 minutes can feel like a veryyyyy long time with hungry kids... #3 service for the adults took even more time for 6 pizzas. #4 there was only 3 other table besides us and no other groups #5 the menu is really small which I dont complain about since it normally means faster serving and higher quality of foods. No such thing here food was ok but nothing exceptional and the Guide Michelin awards 5 years back seem to only be a long gone memory.I cannot recommend this place especially when there is so much choice in the neighborhood
Been to this place a number of times and the food is always great. Great dishes and fresh ingredients. Always find the staff to be very helpful and polite. Id prefer if they had more small plates and less pizza personally because the small plates are the real winner and good pizza is easier to come by.
Very average. We shared several starters, a pasta, and two pizzas. The starters were very forgettable - although the polenta fries were nice. The sardines were not good. The pizza was flavorful and fresh but the pasta was the best dish. It had nduja and mascarpone. The worst part of this place is the loo - very dirty, no soap, and quite horrible frankly. I hate to think what that means for the food hygiene…
Id recommend the pepperoni pizza. My partner said the gluten free base was good.
Waiter was absolutely lacking, 22 mins to order a drink - absolutely disinterested. Food was very nice, small portions.
Lovely local restaurant. The burrata and the peach salad were excellent. The margarita pizza was good but the homemade focaccia was not as nice as the rest and did not feel as fresh. The staff was friendly. Overall a nice place for a glass of wine and a few bites on a hot summer night.
100 out of 100 service and food what an amazing restaurant and bar Lardo is. I visited Lardo with my girlfriend and close friend we were treated to an amazing selection of sharing dishes to die for. The highlights of the meal were the amazing anchovy bread and nduja clams such great flavour and perfection put into the dishes 😋 However I cannot forget the real star of the show.. the cocktails!! To die for! I had the Boozy turmeric lemonade made by Ali the magician the cocktail was so refreshing with an amazing colour and taste coming from the turmeric. Again thank you Lardo for an amazing meal, will definitely keep on coming back😋
Perfect for an early dinner outside… we were lucky that we managed to get a table, would advise booking. Good selection of natural/organic wines and delicious focaccia and pizzas.
The place is cool but I had the worst mimosa Ive ever had in my life! Its basically orange Fanta with prosecco, terrible!!!Cmon Lardo, mimosa is one of the easiest drinks to make!
I was a little apprehensive about the spaghetti special since it’s vegetarian yet £16 but let me tell you… it might be the best vegetarian pasta I’ve had in my life! So many layers of flavors; there’s certainly depth to it. The pizza was okay and interesting! I’ve never seen any restaurant serve green onions on a pizza.
After attempting to visit this restaurant twice I have decided to rate this restaurant one star due to the many issues they’ve had. After our first attempt to visit during open hours they told us they were closed because they had no chef. The second attempt to visit we were told they were out of pizza dough for the night at 8pm on a Friday night and they were sitting no more guests because the chef the night before didn’t prepare for todays crowd. Extremely disappointed after walking and traveling to this location twice on my vacation.
Favourite spot for pizza, delicious fresh salads and very good dessert. It’s all tasty, without trying too hard. Staff are the sweetest. Place is super cosy. And it’s so affordable! They should have a 5/5 rating. I’ve been here a few times, in group of 30 and sometimes just 2 of us, it’s always so good!
Great food, but the worst service I’ve ever received. This was my 3rd visit, as I think their food is really good. However, the service today was the worst I have ever experienced. It took them 30 mins after arriving to even take our drinks order. When our pizza was served we were asked if we wanted chilli oil, to which we happily said yes. It never came and we were halfway through our pizza already, so I asked for it again and we eventually received it when we were pretty much finished with our food. Also don’t even think about having more than the initial drink, because its pretty much impossible to receive anything after the initial order has been placed. When paying I was told paying by cash was fine. However, when I needed change (seen as there was already a 12.5% service charge included, which technically they didn’t even deserve), I had to wait 5 mins for this and it was just chucked on the table without a thank you or goodbye. Not sure if everyone’s just had a bad day because of the unbearable heat, but I was extremely disappointed and will definitely not return.
Really good place. Beautiful inside, very chill, service was fast, pizza was absolutely excellent and the prices werent insane for the area. great find
The food was ok but pizza was soggy and sad which is disappointing as it’s the only thing on the menu. The service was blunt and verging on unwelcoming which we were surprised at having read the reviews and being super excited to visit. Overall average and the vibe of the place was off - won’t be coming back
After hearing great things, we were excited to try Lardo. Unfortunately the food was okay but nothing special but it was the service that let the experience down. You were pushed to get any sort of pleasantry - overall an unwelcoming environment with average food.
Cool place with nice atmosphere and friendly staff. The pizza was really good as well as the starters. The pizza and the cauliflower puree were my favourite. Sadly, the risotto wasn’t good at all, we couldn’t finish the plate which rarely happens - it tasted like mushroom soup powder. Would definitely recommend the owners to rethink the meal. Other than that it’s a nice place after all.
I went to the restaurant after a long day out with my two children some time ago, we ordered pizzas to go but were declined saying we are too busy to do takeaway. I couldnt understand the difference in making two pizzas to go as opposed to eating in. Needless to say I never visited again, its a shame because I live opposite the restaurant and we had been customers since it opened. We eventually found alternatives on Well St and Ace Pizza.
Service was terrible rude dismissive, food was dialled in, pasta was definitely out of Tupperware reheated in microwave for main corse (I am not joking). The first course was an uninteresting, just nice ingredients put together very casually and without care. The wine was overpriced but nice, cocktails were overpriced and bad.As I say the service caps it all by being dismissive rude and unhelpful whilst being very hard to find. They clearly didn’t want to be there and it felt like they were doing you a massive favour just talking to you. They were so generally unprofessional I had to actually request them to bus the table as they were attempting to serve food on the table which still had our first course plates on it! For this price (or any pricethey should be ashamed.I went there with my wife had been a few years before and thought it was a very good restaurant but she was shocked by how bad it was. The amount of competition for restaurants in Hackney Dalston and surrounding areas it seems very silly for them to let the standard slip to this point.
I left the one star review below in December 2021. Since then, Kurt and the team have been in touch and looked after us (including Alba 🐶on our next visit. We sat in the salon, which is the dog-friendly area, and the super attentive staff took excellent care of us over a leisurely and delicious dinner. Very happy to highly recommend once again.Used to love this place, my favourite local. So I was sorely disappointed today when I arrived with my dog to be told we could only sit outside due to the open kitchen. I understand this as a policy. However, I had stated I was bringing the dog on my booking request and there was no reply to explain sitting outside was the only option available. I explained this in person to the staff - they didn’t seem that bothered. Very disappointing.
Their Pizza is one of the best one in London, the authentic neapolitan one! Its very good, fresh ingredients, excellent dough. Prices same as other ones. Waiters and managers very nice.
Hi,I was also there last Wednesday for some food which was pretty good for me the service was good. I was by myself sitting pretty close to the bar and I have seen the blond haired guy and the dark haired girl working in the past. I was observing them for a while as they were getting rather loud they did seem very under the influence of alcohol. They looked over at me a few times but didnt seem to be bothered. In all fairness its a good place to go as the food, music and vibes are good and Ill definitely be back but the staff need to be managed correctly and act professionally.
This local East London place has mainly pizza on its menu. A booking is strongly recommended however they do everything they can to give you a table as well. (you may need to wait long so book in advanceI really wanted to try cheesecake but they were out on a Friday night so that was a shame. The staff were kind and this small place was buzzing with customers. We ordered starters and pizza and had no complains about them. All were tasty.
Attentive service, the food was very tasteful and the wine very delicious.I was surprised to see no frites with the steak but the steak and veg were so tasteful it did not matter - I saved room for dessert. The cheesecake has to be hands down the best cheesecake I have ever tasted.Hats off to a new style of dining and I would love to come back to try the pizza :-)Thanks for a great experience
Had a mixed experience here! Had some delicious starters and cocktails and the focaccia served as an appetiser was top tier. However, my main course (clam spaghettiwas a bit disappointed and had to send it back. Luckily the staff were very understanding and lovely about this and replaced it with something else. This restaurant has a lovely atmosphere and I think I perhaps just got unlucky with what I ordered - great staff and service it must be said.
Predominantly pizza on the main menu, though pasta dish of the day was also available, as well as a brunch menu. A very wide selection of drinks on offer. Only three desserts offered but the baked cheesecake was lovely. The pizza was excellent! I will be visiting again.A pleasant establishment with good decor and ambiance. Plenty of outdoor seating too.Easy place to get too - close to the bus, right by a cycle route or a short walk from London Fields station.
Visited here a few times and I am never disappointed with the food here. Always fresh and always delicious. The gnocchi i had was soft, smooth and light. It was fantastic.I like restaurants that regularly updates it’s a la cart menu, always entices me to try different things.
Lardo is the type of place you can go dressed up or casually stroll in feeling like a local. Keep an eye out for meticulously curated weekly & seasonal specials. The food is always on point and is complimented by a friendly staff knowledgeable in pairing with their amazing selection of wine & spirits . Each time I’ve gone it’s been a culinary experience with lasting memories. Plan ahead, reservations are a must.
Amazing pizzas with a bit of a twist .Mine was pumpkin with roasted tomatoes and walnuts . Delicious. The lasagne looked fantastic too . The service was perfect and Covid friendly without spoiling the vibe !
There’s a lot that I liked at Lardo! The ambiance was great and the staff were friendly. They had some lovely vegan options on the appetiser menu and were accommodating in making a vegan pasta dish. We loved the fresh baked bread at the start of the meal with high quality olive oil. They have a large selection of wines and weren’t impatient about letting us try several of them before deciding on a bottle. Among the areas of improvement, my friend and I were very clear about wanting a full bodied, oaky red wine. We were led to purchase a rather pricey bottle (£58that ended up being a natural wine (was slightly fizzyand was quite light. A bit disappointing since we were very clear about our requirements but were assured that the bottle met our needs, but it didn’t, at all. The pasta was also disappointing as it was too undercooked for al dente and my friend and I did not finish it as a result. I’m definitely open to coming back, hope the feedback helps!
Great Italian place in Hackney. Surprised by the amount of people we found on a Tuesday at 8PM. All tables booked so we had to eat at the bar. Great food and service. Definitely we are going back for more.
Great range of Pizzas, fresh pasta, fish and meats. Good wine/drinks list, and super friendly staff. Clipson coffee too, so a great lunch all round!
Its quite a small and cozy restaurant. Most of the dishes arent on the menu but are told verbally by the waiter. I ordered the lamb lasagne. Im not a huge fan of tomato based dishes, but I saw photos before coming here and thought Id try. It was honestly the best lasagne Ive had so far as the sauce was rich and even creamy. They wasnt the tangy flavour thats usually associated with tomatoes. The lamb added more depth than minced beef usually does in pasta dishes. The reason why I didnt give it full stars is because I do think it is fairly pricey for the quantity. Although my meal was worthwhile, this is something to take into consideration if youre especially hungry.
Me and my husband go to Lardo every year for our wedding anniversary as that’s where we went for lunch after our wedding day. Food there never disappoints us, proper honest Italian food. The atmosphere is warm and homey, staff is always friendly. Surly this place has a special meaning to us, but I would honestly recommend to all the food lovers!!(Don’t forest to ask waiter about the special on the board, they are often really good!)
Possibly the most incredible meal weve had in London. Such a great atmosphere, awesome music selection, imaginative, hearty and delicious food but the service is what took the cake. Topnotch! Thank you to Kurt and the sous chef Enzo who made the visit so special. Really recommend the Brussel tops veg dish with the crumbs sprinkled and the seafood pizza. The tiramisu and homemade Gelato and cheesecake were off the charts delicious too! Thank you again, see you next time! Grazie!
This is one of the best restaurants not only in Hackney, but London too. The quality of food is always incredible. The pizzas are delicious and the specials are always especially good! The choice of wine is always great and the homemade ice cream is to die for. The staff are warm, friendly, attentive, helpful and genuine. Its a firm favourite of ours and we were delighted to share with our parents last night who were kindly gifted a box of bread to take home after complimenting on how fantastic it was. We cannot recommend the food and service here enough!
Small Italian restaurant. Very warm (open space kitchen and ovenand cozy place 5 min walking from the overground station. Good choice of cocktails. The food was good but not special. The calamari with potatoes and radicchio were half cooked and with a strong fishy taste, the arancini with squid black ink too lemony and the pizza is made with too many herbs. The staff is very welcoming and friendly. The place was very crowded so, it’s better to book head. Toilets aren’t inside but they are in the building common area.
Love this place. Its normally busy so try and book. One of my favourite places to sit is the bar at the kitchen so you can see the meals being prepared. Delicious food, the menu changes regularly and always has a delicious pasta option. Great pizzas too if you want something a bit special from your normal pizza. Lovely staff and great wines. Highly reccommend.
