LAE Madrid – Spanish Language School in Carabanchel

I´ve been taking semi-intensive Spanish classes with LAE Madrid since September and I´m super satisfied. The instructors are dynamic and enthusiastic, and the material is never stale. My level has improved significantly in these last few months (hello subjuntive *waves*). While I do practice Spanish outside of class, it would´ve taken me a year of self-study to see the improvement I´ve seen in just a few months. Additionally, the administrative staff is fantastic. They´ve helped me with everything from establishing residency, getting my metro card appointment, making random calls on my behalf when my Spanish wasn´t quite cutting it, and, of course, loaning me a charger when my phone died (on several occasions haha). Everyone at LAE has been super personable and friendly, and it´s great to see a familiar face smiling back when I enter the school. Special shoutouts to my professor, Teresa, and rockstar, fashionista, and music connoisseur, Karmin. :D

I spent my March in Madrid doing a TEFL course, after which I had classes at LAEMy first experience with studying Spanish language, after years and years of doing language classes. The team is highly professional but so loveable and nice. There is just such a positive atmosphere that is in the air, when you see everyone smiling and being nice, you just want to hug them all to death.The classes are so well organised, you never get bored, theres always something to break the routine with language classes that combine two different groups, or you do something cultural and get the know this amazing country and its people even more.I cannot praise enough what a wonderful experience this was, I am coming back for sure in a months time :)

I´ve been taking Spanish classes at La Aventura Española for more than 6 months and don´t plan on stopping. Because of my work schedule, I could only assist part-time classes, and the results didn´t take long to show. Sometimes it can be quite difficult to go to class after an 8 hour-work day, but LAE Madrid team easily turned it into one of the best parts of my day. Diego (my teacherwas perfect and constantly gave us the energy boost we needed with some active exercises. His explanations were one of the clearest I have ever received in my language learning history.Before taking classes at LAEMadrid, I was quite afraid to speak Spanish (even though with a B2 level I should have been confident enough). One of my main objectives was to gain confidence and LAE helped me with that fully. Not only are the teachers helping you, but the administration personnel, as well. Karmen was able to give me a lot of great recommendations about Madrid and gave me full information about documents needed in order to receive my NIE, and even helped me to make an appointment.Would I recommend La Aventura Española to my friends? Yes, absolutely! If you´re looking for a school that really cares about you and your needs, look no further!

I bought an intensive course for my dad and he leant lots of Spanish and felt motivated to continue learning when he got back to England.

I am studying at LAE since last two years and it has been a great experience. The teachers are really very good and supportive. At the beginning I stared with intensive course, later due to busy schedule I had to move to the evening course. That helped me a lot since I didnt have to stop studying at any point. One of the best thing I would say about the school is, the teachers and the staff is really helpful and kind. I would definitely recommend this to my friends who want to study Spanish in Spain.

Picking a Spanish school in Madrid is not easy! I did a lot of research, came across LAE a lot and it was then recommended by friends as well. Having read all the awesome reviews, i decided to give it a go.... BEST decision ever! Such a modern and fun school with amazing interactive courses, fantastic teachers and a very supportive staff. LAE Madrid is a perfect combination of study and fun. I have taken a variety of courses here and each one has been an unforgettable experience which is why I keep coming back! The admin staff is extremely helpful and the teachers are passionate and creative. The school is so flexible and they make sure your time with them is well spent. I could not recommend it enough! I spent a month in LAE and i’ve never enjoyed studying this much! The intensive courses are so much fun as well as effective. I got through a whole level in the time i was there and I didn’t want my adventure to end. I loved everything about the school, the classes, the teachers, the staff and the all around vibe!

Ive had a great experience at LAE for the past 3 months. Not only has my Spanish improved greatly, but I also met lots of people through doing the course. The teachers are fantastic and keep the lessons really interesting and fun. Also, Karmen at the front desk is so helpful with everything you could possibly need during your time at LAE.

This place is an administrative nightmare. Responses are nil or very delayed. I should have taken this to be a red flag to choose another school. I made it very clear in at least 3 e-mails as to the time slot I wanted. I was given the impression that it would be no problem. My last e-mail was two weeks before my arrival date. I got no reply, so I thought everything was all set. I received my class schedule the Friday before starting on the following Monday. And NOT the time I requested. Now it is too late for me to adjust my schedule. If they had responded to my e-mail two weeks before, I could have done something about it.Had to make a compromise on the classes to fit into my schedule. Even though the teacher was very nice, I dont think she ever looked at my placement test. She went over topics that I already knew. I didnt learn anything new the week I was there. Very marginal improvement in my Spanish. Pretty such a waste of time and money. A great disappointment.It is also a bit odd to me that for a language school the receptionist routinely spoke English instead of Spanish.I was due a refund. I was told it will be done at the end of the week I was there. It was not. After I returned home, it took several e-mails to finally get my refund a month later.This place over promise and under deliver. Do not recommend this school at all!

Out of learning foreign languages in 4 different language schools across Europe, LAE without a doubt reigns superior! At LAE the classes were never boring, the teaching material and methodology was perfect and the professors were so friendly, warm, and patient. They slogan is "Seriously Fun Spanish Classes" and it is not at all a lie! I didnt think it was possible to learn a language this fast! In 8 weeks I went from A0 to completing the A2 level, now prepared to begin B1. I will surely miss LAE Madrid and those who worked there. It was very tough to say goodbye when my term ended.

I’ve been taking classes at LAE for about 7 weeks and I’ve learned a lot. I was placed into a great class that was the perfect level for me. My husband was initially placed into a class that wasn’t at the right level and they were very quick to rectify the situation and now he’s thriving in his new spot. Every instructor I’ve met through one on one class or extra curricular activities has been really impressive and they are clearly well trained. The staff and other students are also very enjoyable to be around. I highly recommend LAE!

Did a evening course during four weeks, and I will take another four weeks in November. After two times I changed from A1 to A2, without any problems. The staff also let me borrow a classroom when I had a Skype interview. Super friendly staff and great lessons.

I was in Madrid on vacation for a week and decided to take a Spanish class while I was here. I highly recommend for anyone traveling solo or someone who may want to improve in their Spanish skills. You’ll meet wonderful people and the semi-intensive class was perfect to start the day and then you still have the rest of the day to explore and enjoy Madrid. I’ll be back for sure and maybe for a longer period. This was the best language class and company i’ve been to. 10 stars.

Our 3 children attended a few of the summer camps and the weekend sessions at LAE Kids. I can thoroughly recommended the school. All 3 of them really enjoyed themselves and their Spanish improved markedly. The teaching method is to learn through doing / playing and the teachers are enthusiastic and really connect with the kids. They also go on various cultural trips (science museum, train museum, etcand so learn a bit more about life in Spain while practicing their Spanish. As fas as I can see, LAE Kids is the top language school in Madrid for children and I highly recommend them.

Such a great school!! My husband and I have been taking classes at LAE Madrid for about a month now and we have nothing but amazing things to say about it. I started out as a very entry level A2 and in just 4 weeks of intensive classes I moved up to B1. The intensive classes are amazing and you learn so much everyday! Not to mention the day flies by! Before starting I thought 4 hours of Spanish would be slow and exhausting but I could not have been more wrong. The classes are so fun and engaging with such a great mixture of speaking, listening, and writing. Everyone at the school is incredibly kind and helpful and the teachers are wonderful! I highly recommend LAE!!!

LAE Madrid is an amazing place to take classes! The staff are incredible and always friendly. Camilia at the front desk is always so helpful, sweet and patient. I am a problematic student and she is always ready to resolve any concerns I might have (Plus she always looks fabulous.The rest of the staff are amazing, Carmen and Clara are life changing.I enjoy the free coffee that keeps me going on long days and fresh fruit I can pick up in the hallways for nutrients. LAE has provided me with so many tools for life, including the art of language. I also recommend TtMadrid for the TEFL course. Great experience! Clara is an incredible teacher. Her class activities are fun and you converse the whole time, which is such a change from the old-school ¨listen to me talk¨ methodology. You´ll definitely see improvements in your capabilities. Everyone at LAE is super friendly and welcoming. Whenever you need help, Camilia and Anna at the front desk are the LADIES to go to. They´re incredibly wonderful, and professional women. Thanks for a great 2-weeks!

LAE Madrid is a phenomenal language school. Every single Spanish teacher I had was well prepared, patient, and fun. The classrooms are comfortable and the class sizes are small, so you get a lot of attention. The lessons are relevant and the workbooks and materials are excellent. The entire LAE Madrid staff is friendly and helpful. Thanks to Karmen, Camilia, and Ana for being so flexible with class changes and thanks to all of my teachers! Amazing school! I love this school for the quality of their teachers, their flexibility in scheduling and the general friendly atmosphere the place has. There are great directors organizing cultural outings and many ways to immerse yourself in Spanish and feel comfortable practicing your Spanish.

I attended LAE for around six months and it was a consistently great experience. LAEs teachers are enthusiastic and supportive. The key is finding the class that is right for you. I settled into a class with Irene and she was amazing, as were my fellow students (who came from all over the world). I also took some private lessons that were fun and helped my conversational skills along. I enjoyed all my classes and I am happy with the progress I made with my Spanish and I highly recommend LAE to anyone wanting to learn Spanish.

My wife and I have taken classes here for 8 weeks. We leveled up from complete beginners to B1. Our speaking, listening and writing is SO. Much. BETTER!!!!! The strengths of this place are Camilia, Anna and Karmen (administrators). Other strengths are the teachers Raquel, Mariaje, Silvana and the amount of speaking and interacting. The negatives of the school are that if you travel and take time off you may not get the same teachers, you may end up repeating some things and the pace can appear a bit slow. Otherwise, it’s a perfect school. Choose this school. NOW. Ahora!!!!!!

Wow. I honestly can’t sing this school’s praises highly enough! In 8 weeks, I went from speaking absolutely NO Spanish to feeling confident that I can express most of what I want to say in Spanish. All of our teachers were fantastic - it was actually really nice getting to work with several teachers (we took a few weeks off in between for travel), so Ana, Raquel, Silvana, Auxille, and Mariaje, MUCHAS GRACIAS! Also, the women who work all of the logistics for the school couldn’t be kinder or more helpful. They helped us on several occasions and were very understanding. Also, they were just plain fun! Camilia, Ana, y Karmen, MUCHAS GRACIAS!!!!!! I can’t wait to continue lessons online.

Highly qualified teachers who know what they are doing. All skill levels are taught and each teacher for the job specializes in that specific learning level. The only draw back is that classes keep rolling, so you have to catch a class right when it´s starting, or you will come into a lesson without the knowledge of the other students. Regardless of this fact, the teachers always bring you back up to speed.

LAE was exactly what I hoped it would be! The teachers are so engaging. It was like Rosetta Stone live in person. As a student, you and your classmates discover the rules and formulas of grammar and then you put them to use. I wish I could stay longer. Gracias por todo, LAE!

I have just finished a B1 course at LAE and I loved it! I had different teachers over my studies who were all funny and really helpful.This school is really good because it has lots of extra activities that you can do like going for tapas or trips, and extra classes on Spanish literature etcI also like the friendly atmosphere and the kitchen where you can make tea or coffee for free. The staff are all so nice and I´m definiteky going to come back after the summer to continue.:):)

I am really glad I chose this school. I started learning Spanish as a complete beginner and I learned so much while being here. The teachers are good and motivate you to progress. The school also organises several activities during the week, a good way to meet new people. If there is something you need help with, there is always someone to help you. I would recommend taking the intensive course rather than the semi-intensive.

I really enjoy the classes as I learn a lot and the teachers are professional and excellent! The classes concentrate on the students´ progress and helped me in all aspects of learning from reading to speaking. They give their best and you get the best here. Ive been taking group classes at LAE Madrid for over a month now and have had a great experience so far. The teachers and staff are very helpful and very accommodating. And the classes are super fun and helpful. I feel like Im learning a lot and have a chance to use the language during the many cultural activities that they host through the week.

I have been coming to this LAE Madrid since November last year for Spanish classes. I have really enjoyed learning here and think the lessons are great fun. I took 4 weeks of the Power Intensives and I am so sad to be leaving! The classes are super fun and conducted solely in Spanish which means your level will increase quickly.The cultural activities are a good mix of lessons about Spanish culture and a trip somewhere, not forgetting the Friday tapas!The teachers are excellent and really know their stuff, and the admin team make sure that you feel welcome. If you have any doubts about coming to Spain then push them aside and just do it. It will be the best choice you make.

I spent a month at the school doing the Sprint course and it was the best month of my life. The course was so well designed, the group classes are small and almost tailor made to each student and private classes really made the difference and boosted my progress. I loved spending time at the school because there is a great atmosphere there and the teachers and admin staff are always there to help. After a month there, LAE feels like home so I will definitely be coming back!

I am a student here at LAE Madrid and I LOVE IT!!!! I have had two teachers here and they are amazing. I could not ask for a better Spanish learning experience. And the high light of each day is Fletcher, the sweet and cute “school dog”. Such a great place to learn!!!! I highly recommend it!

I had a very lukewarm experience at LAE. If youre looking for a course to improve your daily Spanish skills so that you can order food, chat with your hairdresser, make an appointment at a restaurant etc - this is not the place. Instead of teaching survival language skills its heavily focused on everything being grammatically perfect - to the point where even after a full week on the intensive course I still couldnt say one sentence in Spanish. I highly recommend finding a private tutor who will tailor the class to your needs instead of racing through a textbook. The classes also consist of people who are learning at different levels than you so at times youd have to go slower through sections youve grasped already - to accommodate others- and at other times sections that you struggle with have to be skipped to, again, accommodate the pace of others. *Bonus, a private tutor outside of LAE is half the price and the best decision I made.

I recently qualified as a certified TEFL teacher from TT Madrid and loved every moment. The experience was so great I decided to study a semi-intensive Spanish course at LAE (the sister schoolall thanks to the amazing Karmen, who will help you with everything you need. Shes fantastic!! Cant recommend LAE enough - super friendly staff and students as well as organised, engaging and fun classes. Dont look any further! Contact Karmen and the team and you wont regret it!

I attended a intensive summer course 2017 at LAE Madrid during my summer vaccination. The teacher always arrived preparerad from the first minute to the last and performed the teaching with the highest level of pedagogic. It was a enjoyment to attend in the class and the tutoring resulted in one of the most giving experience from a Spanish course. I recommend LAE Madrid for the orderly organization and the well-skilled teachers who makes every day a joy in learning.

This was a great course for everyone including non-native speakers. I highly recommend it for anyone with a high level of Spanish who is thinking about becoming a Spanish teacher in their country, or who has already been teaching and wants to improve.

Update September 2017 - Thank you to Gimena at LAE. Only in Spain does a festival serve as the greatest "final exam." A year since arriving in Spain, I was finally able to express myself at the festival in my boyfriends village. I was so much more relaxed than the year before and finally felt like myself again. I began one-on-one classes with Gimena in January and then switched to virtual one-on-one with Gimena and the Adobe Connect software used for "On-Español." Gimena was wonderful at assessing my ability and not just my need to progress in levels of Spanish language but also in Spanish life. She adapted the classes so that I could learn the idioms needed to feel at home here. My greatest heartfelt thanks to Gimena and the entire team at LAE.Many thanks to everyone at LAE. Natasha has helped me integrate into my new life here in Madrid. Karmen and Helen have been supportive and helpful through the student visa process. I began Spanish classes last month. Not only is the school flexible with scheduling, but the teachers take into consideration the students learning styles. I would highly recommend the Spanish classes to any expat who desires a great blend of professionalism, structure, flexibility, and interaction. I truly enjoyed my time at LAE Madrid. The staff are friendly and always working hard to provide for individualized needs. The group classes are fun and challenging, and my teacher Auxi, listened to my goals and worked to provide a one-to-one experience that was challenging and yet in alignment with my personal goals. While trying to find the perfect school to attend while my time abroad in Spain, I stumbled upon LAE Madrid. I felt that it provided everything I was looking for to spend my three months in Spain learning Spanish. At first I signed up for group classes and after about a week I felt that I needed to spend more time learning the basics. Karmen (class coordinatormade sure I was put in a one on one class right away to meet my learning needs. This is when I was introduced to one of the best teachers Ive ever had.. Auxi! Everyday in class she made sure to not only make the class fun but also attend to what level I was at. Even now being back home my spanish is still adequate and I still refer to the notes and worksheets she gave us because they were so helpful! I would recommend LAE to anyone wanting to study abroad! :)

Hellooo!! so usually i do not write reviews and stuff like that BUT this time is DIFFERENT and I HAVE TO write a review about this AMAZING school. i am writing it in english for those of you who don´t know Spanish and want to learn it in a short time with such a NICE FAMILY i´d call it a family rather than a school! you HAVE TO study in LAE MADRID. so i started this intensive course on the 3rd of JULY 2017 i didn´t know any spanish not even how are you or what is your name!!!! so i was A1 .. GUESS WHAT! now we are on the 30th of AUGUST 2017 and i am in B1 i passed my both exams for A1 & A2. THANKS to the school and the teachers! ALL of them are so friendly and they try to do anything that makes us laugh and happy!! I HIGHLY recommend this school to everyone i can promise you that all of you will enjoy it and you would love to stay longer!! i really don´t want to leave this AMAZING school...

I cant recommend LAE enough! It was like a family. I loved my teacher and my classmates became close friends. I lived in Madrid for 9 months and attended the school a couple hours each weekday. I knew absolutely NO Spanish when I arrived. I THOUGHT I did because Id been doing DuoLingo for months. While I love that app, theres nothing like learning through conversation in a class environment. And my class was usually only 4-6 people, so it was very comfortable. My one regret is that I didnt take the full immersion course. Because I worked from home, I did the semi-immersion of 2 hours each day. If youre serious about learning Spanish, do the full schedule if you can. Also, if you have time, there are afternoon activities each day, which help you learn and hang out with others in the program. I usually didnt get to do that because of my schedule, but I highly recommend it. If you want to live in Spain, the easiest way is to get a student visa through classes. LAE is happy to help you set that up. Throughout the year, Karmen and Andrew at the front desk were always there to assist with any issues, schedule changes, and just recommendations. Buena suerte!
