L'Osteria di Birra del Borgo Roma - Restaurant in Vatican City, Vatican City
Delicious food, great price and outstanding service. Waiters where really nice as well. Definitely worth visiting!! :)
L’Osteria di Birra del Borgo is not specifically a pizzeria, but rather a gastropub from an excellent local brewer that also serves fantastic pizzas. Just like Seu Illuminati, the pizza tonda here are more on the untraditional side, with creative toppings such as tuna carpaccio, fermented onions and mint, or pizza with zucchini done 3 ways (crema di zucchini, marinated zucchini, and zucchini alla scapecetopped with grated cocoa bean. The dough itself is beautifully charred, airy, chewy, and digestible, and perfectly complements the many tasty beers on tap. Or if you are feeling experimental, try one of the beer-based cocktails. The dining area is very sleek, and there are some tables located by the pizza making station so you can watch the pizzaioli work their magic.
Made a specific trip to go to this place. We arrived at 1:30 on a Friday and they were closed yet the hours on maps show they should be open. I dont usually leave bad reviews but not being open during times you claim you are open is unacceptable.
Really good bar. Couldnt wait for the place to open but it was worth it once it finally was. Excellent beers.
Better to make a reservation before you go, otherwise you have to sit at the bar.Good food, nice place to eat.
Really enjoyed this place, lovely modern setting with a brilliant range of delicious international beers, friendly staff and very nice nibbles (yes to the mozzarella sticks!). Would recommend the belgian dark ale (Ducal, I believe it was calledfor craft beer aficionados
One of the best places in Rome for great craft beer and amazing pizza. The staff is super awesome and friendly and we had an AWESOME time there.Ill definitely come back here the next time Im in Rome!
Great beer selection. For Xmas season they have some very strong choices!
This centrally located brewry bar is a feast for the eye as well as for the palate. Stylish and laidback at once it boasts an excellent cocktail bar and a spectacular beer counter with the houses brand selection of drafts. Flawless cocktails , top-notch pizza and revisited italian cuisine all contribute to a total winner
Good food, beer and service. An English language version of the menu would be useful.
Very good Pizza, nice leoparding, tasty toppings and a dough structure which will last even cooling down. Fried starters and salads work very well too! Highly recommend the craft beers from their own brewery, especially the fermentation blends with wine grape juices.
We tried to get food or drinks twice in this restaurant within three weeks. The first time we were offered a place at the bar. The service noticed us but never brought us the menu or asked us for our drinks order. So we left after 15 minutes.Everybody can have a bad day so we decided to book a table for a later day and go back. When we arrived at the restaurants entrance, we saw that it was closed. There was no note at the door, on Google or the website concerning the closure, even though our online table reservation had successfully gone through. 🤣
Very cool place to have a good beer - they have an great selection, the staff is very nice and the food is also amazing. Highly recommended!
A short walk from the Vatican. Excellent brewpub with indoor and outdoor seating. The antifoccacia was really good and the mozzarella sticks were some of the best Ive ever had. Very helpful service also.
Amazing beer and fantastic food. If you are in the area this place is worth a stop. It was very easily walkable from the Vatican museum. Make sure to grab a 32oz can to go!
Great craft beer selection, exceptional reimagined pizzas, quite modern decor.
Nice selection of craft beers and the most delicious pizza ever had made by the head chef Luca Pezzetta, the best of the best. WARNING: NOT TO MISS IT WHEN IN ROME
Visited October 2019.As a craft beer lover from the West Coast of USA, this place was wonderful to have experienced in Italy.First and foremost, the food here is amazing. I felt is was appropriately geared toward the "pizza" palate... I didnt feel intimidated by anything on the menu...and why should I? I love food, and trying new things! Everything ordered was a wonderful experience.Nothing goes well with pizza like beer, and they have a wonderful craft beer selection from a wide range of sources both Italian and European.Hoping to pop into this place again in the future on another trip to Rome.
Pros:Happening hipster hangout geared toward locals. Real food that actually tastes really good. Things dont kick off until 7 at the earliest, but thats the case just about anywhere in Rome. The transparent kitchen allows all to see the transformation from raw to really good.Cons:Much slower service for non-Italians. #canadian/american/english🤨Not exactly kid friendly.A bit off the beaten path. That might be A pro too.
Really good local craft beer, amazing food!! and very friendly service. We’ll be back again!
This is my favourite place in Roma. Excellent selection of beer. There is something for all tastes from sours, porters, IPAs, lagers through you big lambic’s and the food is just on point. You won’t be disappointed
Went there for dinner. Mixed cold meats and cheeses was absolutely delicious. Good variety of quality cheeses. Pizza as were good but felt like there were not much variety. I had the mortadella & Truffles pizza and it was 10/10 light and delicious (Highly recommended). Lots of beers to choose from but it was €6 fore 330 ml which is a bit pricy. Very welcoming atmosphere and excellent service too.
Awesome local brews. Great selection of small bites and pizza. The quality of the food for the price was outstanding. Save room for the homemade tiramisu!
This place reminds me of tasting rooms in North America. A very good selection of local craft beer. Although not on the menu, we were able to get a flight of 5 beers for 15€. A bit pricey, but a great way to sample a few. Food was quite good, although the pizza is not available until after 6 pm. Servers spoke English well.
Not a welcoming vibe, its very pretentious. Given a menu in English with hardly any English had to Google everything to translate. Obviously were in Italy and we know basics but the food is unique so couldnt find it anywhere. I have a severe allergy so its important I know the ingredients. Food is of an above average quality, but my partner got a pretentious pizza that wasnt a pizza at all some sort of malt dough - which he did enjoy. The beer. I understand its a brewery but they claimed it was a pint. It was half a pint for €6. Also, no English translation again. We also thought the staff were nice but not attentive. Walked past us at least 4 times with our plates clear when an Italian couple next to us had finished 2 people were over the clear the table straight away, and to ask for more food. Poor way to treat travellers.
Quite a range of beers. We went around 5pm and it was completely empty, but still open. Suppli appetizer was good
Nice beer, but expensive. Youre looking at €6 for 250ml. They dont show pricing and encourage you to pay at the end. Easy to catch you out financially. Beer is lovely and they have quite the range. Didnt eat there, though the prices for a main were €10-20 a meal. Bar staff were friendly and gave a small glass of water to go along with the beer which was really helpful in 35°c heat
Unique place in the heart of the city, close to the Vatican, great choice of local brewery Birra del Borgo beers, amazing and professional service. The kitchen is also outstanding, you need to try the house special pizza variations. Definitely highly recommended!
How not to love this place: amazing service, a full menu of beers, one more interesting than the other (my favorite: Reale, a nice pun with RE-thinking-ALE), super good drinks (see pics!), and the food is delicious: several different types of pizzas (I probably cannot call all of them “pizzas”, but bear with me), all delicious. One of my favorite places in Rome, easy.
I ordered Lantifogaggia spontanea with pork check, beans and cheese. As you can see from the picture, its an expensive bread with a little topping. Good, but still its just bread. The bear is great though.
This was a great place. I ordered the sandwich with ham and mozzarella. It was really good. There was a lot of great mozzarellas. The ham was good ham. It was a bit like prosciutto. The bread was not bread you would usually find with a sandwich. It was crispy bread. I got a drink called ”Ginger.” It is not ginger ale or ginger beer. It tasted more like a drink with ginger in it than ginger ale. It was great. For dessert, I ordered a Tiramisu. It was the best Tiramisu ever. It had less chocolate than others, and had more cream and cake. The cake was crunchy. It was very creamy. I loved it. The service was great. The person that served me was very friendly and talkative. That was very good. I saw another waiter that was serving a baby and the baby’s family. He was also very friendly. The atmosphere was good. I went for lunch. The music was not loud at all, and the place was very good for having a conversation. It could have been a bit more lively, but I think it was not lively because there were not many people in the restaurant at the time I went.
A bit on the pricey side of dinner, but very good for. Presentation is absolutely top notch, with a great selection of beers. The price for the beer is on par for the area. I find the pizza too be more unique for what we had in our trip from North to south, pairing and style was incredibly delicious. We tried the cheese and ham selection as a starter, but find it lacking for the price. Would definitely be willing to stop in again.
Locally produced beer and food is also homemade, pizza and Trrrench recommended, but also Bruschetta for a smaller bite. Better to book a table even during the week if you want to have dinner at the table. Spacious place and friendly staff. Good place to have beers with friends
Great spot for local beer and creative takes on pizza. The cheapest meal we have had in Italy.
We had a very nice meal here. Large beer selection and modern italian dishes. The pizzas had great flavor and the crispy pizzas are more similar to sandwiches, but nonetheless, dont miss this spot. It is a nice change from the standard fare that accompanies Italy.
Pizza is good but pizzarium is better- extensive cocktail and beer selection. The pasta is so-so
Craft beer was right on the mark! The staff was amazing, explaining the different beers, all the different food options we had, genuinely felt at home.
Fantastic, tucked away traditional Italian restaurant in Rome. Lovely, modern decour and quite a unique aesthetic. Great selection of beer and delicious, fresh food to boot. Service was personable and fast. All the food was amazing but there needs to be a special mention of the Tiramisù which was divine. Cant wait to go again!
Really good pizzas (though the “crispy” options looked more like sandwiches). Place looks small on the outside but is quite large. Of course, main draw is the beer. Mostly draft (including a lot of guest taps and one-off batches). Service was incredibly friendly.
You must go here to if you’re around the Vatican. Amazing ambience and the staff are so lovely and helpful. I was tossing up between so many options on the menu and my waiter was just brilliant and recommended the perfect main, dessert and drink to go with it. Very reasonably priced too.
Interesting and delicious pizza concept. Long and diverse draught and cocktail list. Was able to to find food and drinks that satisfied everyone in our party. Dont come here expecting typical Italian food, rather a fun and delightful twist on what you know.
We loved our experience at this restaurant. We went there twice just after visiting the Vatican. It is modern italian cuisine, so dont expect the dishes to look traditional. They combine originality and freshness to create a great eating experience. It is a great stop for beer lovers with their selection of microbrewery beers on tap.
This osteria di birra has numerous beer on tap from all over Europe. Beer is 5 euro - a bargain. They serve small bites gratis and you can order meals as well. The decor is modern and comfortable. And the staff speak English if you need that. Its worth a trip to the Prati district.
A great formula: tap beer, cocktail bar (add an eccellent gin and raspberry with a light beerand heartfelt cuisine, as well as the exceptional boncis pizza. Very nice Also for families
This place was perfect. From a beer lovers point of view at least. The service was really on point with excellent recommandations from the staff and the beers as well as the food were excellent. Thank you!
Gourmet pizza al taglio served at table with great beer by knowledgeable staff.
I was surprised, so 5 stars is the right expression of my idea. Good number of different beer, and good food to eat. Great to drink and eat. Last but not least the position, really into the center of Rome. my advice is.. TRY AND ENJOY! Ps. the toast in my photos was incredible.. enough for 2 people without problems, bread homemade.. delicious
Excellent Staff. Great products. Amazing Beers. Have a degustation.
Awesome bar for the Birra del Borgo brewery. They had 10+ of their excellent beers on tap, and almost as many from various other places. The chips with their homemade mayo and plum-infused ketchup was great!
Great open space with bar and many great craft beers, interesting decor with great atmosphere. The bruschetta was fantastic. The Bar man was friendly and gave good insight into their beers and recommended places to visit around Rome.
