It was a wonderful exhibition and I really enjoyed visiting the museum. Unfortunately I was in a bit of hurry so I couldnt spend much time admiring every item on display. But if you have the time I am sure you will love the museum. The layout, lighting, background music - everything works to give you an immersive, informative and interesting viewing experience.

Cool building. We got all the way there to learn it was closed but we could still take the escalator up the mountain to see the building. Would definitely like to come back and see the collection.

If you are interrsted in art and history, I would recommend this museum very much. It is one of the biggest museum in Kyushu and contain Japanese culture history and even international cultures.

Fantastic museum with rotating world-class exhibits! Lots of measures being taken for COVID-19 atm, but the upside is that it’s not crowded at all. If you like a leisurely-pace, it’s a great time to visit. Check the online site for current and future exhibits. If you visit here after the shrine, you can take an elaborate escalator system up to the top to get to the museum entrance. Honestly, it’s a fantastic space for art and ancient items on display.

Huge museum in Fukuoka. Unfortunately, only the 4th floor was opened when visited. Parking is available but you need to take a walk up to the museum building.

The museum is probably great in normal times but it is currently not worth it as most areas are closed due to corona. The only floor that was open at the moment of my visit was mostly about archeological findings and wasn’t very interesting to me. However if you are a passionate about this kind of content then it could be fine!

Well worth the price of admission for the main exhibit. It was around $5 if I remember correctly. The film about Inō Tadataka was fascinating and I would recommend watching that before visiting the map room. You will have a greater appreciation for them. Very restricted in what pictures you can take which was nice.

Beautiful museum with many interesting things to see. Good for people with low mobility (wide halls, places to sit, and escalator into the premisesbut I wasnt able to see whether or not there was elevator access. Staff were friendly and able to answer the few questions I had about the current exhibition. It is clearly signed where photos are and arent permitted but if in doubt, staff will assist. Audio guide was in English and contained a lot of helpful information. The temple gardens outside are amazing so ensure you allow plenty of time to explore both inside and out!

Interesting place to discover history and culture of Japan. It is very near to Dazaifu tenmangu shrine. So the natural scenery of the sorrounding is also very beautiful. If you are in Fukuoka Dazaifu tenmangu shrine and Kyushu national museum is a must visit.

Architecture of this place is beautiful. The glass windows reflect the mountains nearby, so much that they had to add lights to prevent birds from flying into it. The museum itself gives a good timeline of the Japan Kyushu area, stemming back from original settlers to more recent trade facts that led the nation to what it is today. There are different language audio guides so you can follow along.

Modern and well maintained. The ground floor has a free interactive area that showcases various Asian cultures. However, the experience in the main exhibit was somewhat dulled by a few staff that had a snobbish attitude.

The place is near Dazaifu so you can cover both of them in a single day. The museum has some really old artifacts from majorly Japan, Korea, Taiwan and China. There are audio books available at the counter for those who like to listen about the history of the the artifacts. The 6 statues are a major attraction.

It’s truly an honour to see “The Buddhist Sculptures of Daihō’onji, Kyoto Masterpieces by Kaikei and Jōkei”, an exhibition commemorating the 800th anniversary of Temple’s founding in 2020 with great curatorshop. Make sure you don’t miss the chance to appreciate the architecture of the Museum, characterised by its gently curved structure that blends into the mountainous surroundings. The shop is excellent too.

Just getting to this place is already an exciting adventure by riding the science fiction style escalator up this endless tunnel with neon lights on the side. One thing having been said, you cannot rush through this museum as it holds so many things to see and read about with free audio headphones. One large bit focuses on the relation between Kyushu and China with another one focusing on the introduction of Buddhism and the different teachings common in Kyushu. The architecture of the museum is also worth seeing with nice additional pond and park arrangements surrounding this beautiful museum.

So much to see, you will need to spare at least 2 hours and if you want to have detail look, spare even longer time! Big portion is related to the China and Japan culture exchange on the early era, another part is Buddhism culture related stuff, if you arent into these areas, I suggest go elsewhere and dont waste your time here.

There are two different exhibits at time of visit, one of them was The Okura Collection, and the other one was the Cultural Exchange. The Okura Collection was a special exhibition. The museum itself is quite large, with outstanding architectural style if viewed from outside. It would be best to visit this together with the Dazaifu Tenmangu Shrine, as there is a walkway connecting the two. The admission price for the special exhibit is quite expansive (with the audio guide is around 1500 yen), otherwise you can just visit the Cultural Exchange exhibit. The Cultural Exchange exhibit ticket will also give you access for a free audio guide available at the fourth floor. The museum looks very new, and the facilities is what you should be expecting of Japanese standard - very clean.

A pleasant walk from the main tourist area of Dazaifu, the museum is of limited interest for foreign visitors. Most of the exhibits are entirely in Japanese, so unless youre a confident reader youll only be able to enjoy the artefacts aesthetically. The building itself is very impressive and quite a sight when it comes into view. Not worth a visit if youre coming from afar, but if youre in the area its not too bad.

This huge museum has a serene and quite atmosphere with fresh air which is nice and relaxing. Located in the touristy area of Dazaifu, Fukuoka, this museum can be easily spotted from the garden in front of Tenmangu shrine.

Very intriguing architectural design but a little bit disappointing amount of things to see. An exhibition called "cultural exchange exhibition" filled with mainly Japanese artifacts, with occasional Chinese ones they took from WW2 period, was quite disappointing.

The museum has a very unique architectural design, with a beautiful interior to accompany it. Cultural exhibit on the third floor with five sections detailing the change in Japan and the affect of outside influence/trade through numerous artifacts from all around Asia.

The building is impressive but not really nice to see . Such a big investment for a finally limited exhibition space.Permanent collections on Japans connections with the rest of Asia in history are interesting but limited and very simple ; nice modern presentation though . I guess temporary exhibitions are more worth a visit , depending what is on display .

The museum is gorgeous and the exhibits really interesting. Sadly, there isnt enough to see for such a huge building! I guess I cant remove a start for this, as quality is better than quantity! Nice view from the top of the hill.

The most beautiful museum I have ever been so far. The lighting, the collections were arranged beautifully. Most of them had English description, if you are a museum junkie, be sure to rent the English audio museum guide (for free!). Sometimes they have a small event, when I went there, they had a small exhibition about ASIA Countries and also, they have special exhibition (which required more expensive ticket, but I am sure its worth it!).No photo is allowed inside the museum (collection room).

Make this part of your must see list of Fukuoka. The sheer size will surprise you. The journey up the impressive escalator is followed by a colorful moving sidewalk. The permanent East Asian collection is hands on, perfect for kids, and best of all, free. This museum houses many exhibits specific to Kyushu but its modern design rivals that of more famous buildings around the world. Definitely worth the trip (along with nearby Dazaifu Shrine).

This is a must see Japanese museum. The quality of the art collection is first rate and includes art from a number of Asian countries. The museum itself is stunning and easy to visit. You can easily spend three hours enjoying the beautiful collections exhibited. The museum also has special exhibits but reservations are usually necessary and may still involve quite a lengthy waiting in line.

A very modern design museum built on the hill. The exhibition is mainly about how Japanese is evolved and how the culture is influenced by China and West Asia. They have English guide so it is a good place to visit if you are in 太宰府

A very large building with different exhibits and different prices for each of them. The main exhibit was under ¥500, with the special exhibit being ¥1400. The cheaper option was okay value but you could probably walk through everything in under 2 hours.
