Gorgeous hostel in a residential area. Buffet was delicious, and it was walking distance from one of the finest and oldest tea retailer in Kyoto. Can’t wait to go back.

One of the best and most comfortable hostels Ive stayed in Japan. The staff were friendly, and made you feel at home. Thats actually a huge selling point for me, because its really the DNA of the people there that makes the difference - whether or not they are very busy. It doesnt take much effort to just make small talk or simple pleasantries with guests and make them feel welcome and appreciated. The breakfast, priced at 500 yen only, is a steal, because unlike most hostels or guesthouses Ive stayed, this offers an all-you-can-eat buffet spread. Try to beat that in the rest of Japan, not only Kyoto. Its quite a walk from the nearest subway station but thats also because I was lugging a huge luggage in sweltering 35 degrees summer heat. But after that, once I got used to the location, its really easy to get around.

Loved staying here. Short 15 min walk into the main area. Showers and bathrooms are always clean and have Dyson hairdryers! Definitely more of a family/ couple type of hostel rather than a party place which suited us fine for full on days of sightseeing. The breakfast was very reasonable also. Additional pillows available, rental bikes and umbrellas was a bonus. Has restored my faith in hostels for sure.

A top Hostel in every aspect! I stayed in a private room and consider the stay a very pleasant one! Very helpful staff that went beyond the call (provided me with valuable info and medication for my back pain). Great ambience and conveniently located. They even have free laundry. Very good breakfast (550 pre check or 600 yen)! Thanks for making my stay a memorable one.

An all around nice hostel, clean & convenient. The common room, kitchen / bar area is spacious & relaxing. You can bring your own alcohol which is way cheaper than buying drinks at any bar in Japan. The dorm can be a bit noisy & theres always lights on which is a bit disturbing. I loved the free bike rental & free laundry. The all you can eat breakfast is awesome value for money as well. Theres not showers on every floor which is odd. Check in/out is super strange times all over Japan which Ill never get use to. The staff are pleasant.

Can highly recommend staying here. Its a modern hostel that has a variety of rooms (private to sharingto suit your needs. The staff is very friendly, helpful, and always in for a chat if youre interested in Japan. Rooms and facilities are clean, the beds comfy, the room temperature is good, and theres a free bike rental to get around town.

Amazing hostel. Most luxurious hostel Ive ever stayed at. Extremely clean. The free bike rental is fantastic. Staff are super nice. And the all-you-can-eat breakfast (extra chargeis amazing, but the selection for vegans is limited: Edamame, rice, noodles, toast, jam, orange juice. Unfortunately, the food isnt labeled with allergens or ingredients, so its hard to know whats vegan and whats not.All in all: Definitely recommend!

One of the best hostels in Kyoto and maybe in all Japan. In fact you feel like in a 3 or 4 stars hotel but with common areas such as showers or kitchen. Everything is super clean. The neighborhood is beautiful and silent. You can rent bikes for free and a towel is included in the booking price. Perfect staff, kind and able to speak in english. Lovely!

This hostel was by far the best place Ive stayed in all my travels. The staff are amazing, breakfast was plentiful and worth the cost (¥550/day if booked in advance), they have free bike rentals included, you can choose your own pillows, and the other travelers are cool. Its artfully crafted and ultra hip. I love it here so much that I couldnt wait until check out to review it!

EXCELLENT!!!! One of The Best hostels that you will find on kyoto. We stayed here for 3 nights and the service was simply superb. The reception is very friendly and courteous. They were ready to help us with all our queries. The housekeeping staff did an amazing job of keeping our rooms clean. They have a very very nice kitchen area. The breakfast spread is also very good with a wide variety of food options. Definitely recommend to stay in this hostel. Also the location of the hostel is very good. Easy accessibility to bus stops. Also there is a family mart near the hostel. We wanted to extend our stay but unfortunately the hostel was sold out. But for sure during our next visit we will make sure to stay at the same place!!! Kudos to all the staff for doing an excellent job !!! Keep it up!!!

Personally, I haven’t stayed here as I live in kyoto, but one of my good friends did and really enjoyed it. It’s a simple, modern, stylish, and clean hostel with great customer service. And it’s close to shopping areas, downtown Kyoto, the imperial palace and the river. Overall, a great place to stay according to my friend.

Speechless. This hostel was more like a 5 star hotel. Big, clean dorm area with lots of space in the rooms. The staff are amazing and always try to improve your stay. The location was great with temples and shrines surrounding the hostel and only a 5 minute walk to the bus stop. This hostel is a must if you are staying in Kyoto!

This place has everything. On top of spacious bunk beds, ample amount of toilet and shower rooms. They also provide free leather slippers and pillow rental. The washing and drying service is also free of charge. On top of that, they have a buffet morning breakfast that cost 500 yen if you booked beforehand. Theres also bicycle rental which only need a deposit of 1000yen which you get back in the end.Everything is clean and in excellent conditions and the price is affordable. The only complaint I might have is only the location as one need to do some walking to get to the nearest subway. All in all, this place is a good place to stay in Kyoto.

Easily the best hostel and most comfortable stay Ive had on my travels including any hotel stays Ive had. The hostel is run by amazing, beautiful staff who have great language skills. The location is perfect for those who want to be central but in a quiet spot. Bike hire, laundry, amazing breakfasts for only ¥500. The dorm beds are so cosy with little desks. Good places to lock your bags or lockers. Powerful showers and top of the range toilets. Awesome, trendy basement kitchen and bar. Double room is like a bedroom. I will always stay here when Im back, amazing, amazing, amazing!!

Its a hostel only in name, the quality is on par with any decent hotel, its new, modern, clean, with all necessary amenities, a cozy atmosphere, great staff, and a nice breakfast available for cheap. The only thing is that there are shared bath and showerrooms, but they are clean and private with seperate stallrooms with locks.

I have done several backpacking trips in Europe and Asia, and I can say with confidence Kyoto Morris hostel is one of the best hostels Ive ever seen. The neighborhood is quiet and safe at night, and a cute shopping street (Kawaramachi-doriis only a block away from the hostel. Receptionists and hostel staffs are very friendly and informative. Every space (the kitchen, dorms, bathrooms, shower rooms, and the loungein the hostel was new and above and beyond my expectations. Laundry was free and the breakfast you pay for is actually worth it.

The best hostel Ive ever stayed at. Its just the tiniest hit far away from the subway, but theres a bus stop down the road and its within walking distance of the main shopping road as well as gion. It tries really hard to create a mingling, talkative atmosphere which I appreciated. They have the cheapest bar in town; you pay 400 yen for anything except the top shelf whiskey. In a town where a beer costs 1000 yen, this is truly wonderful

This is such a wonderful place! Dont let the word "hostel" deter you from finding out more. The whole place has 5 levels, from B2 to L3. There are several rooms including the dormitory room (shared with 18 people), a twin room and a quad room. Theres a dedicated section for showers, bar / lounge, laundry, smoking room. The place is very comfortable. All in all, this place feels a lot more like a really well maintained hotel than a hostel - probably the best budget accommodation I had ever stayed in.

I havent even been in this hostel for longer than 3 hours and Im already liking this place. It is very maintained and cleaned with all the furniture looking brand new with amazing internet speeds. With Bike rentals! The basement is very nicely furbish to chill with a bar and small restaurant with a very cheap and decent menu that keeps you from going outside spending a lot more ( the portions are quite small I have to say I recommend at least 2 meals from the bar should keep you satisfiedalso the drinks here are quite reasonably priced too which should keep you satisfied instead of buying alcohol outside. The staff is very well mannered and professional with exceptional english I was actually caught off guard that they spoke better english than many of the Japanese people in Tokyo. The showers and laundry rooms are very well maintained same with the beds quite big and comfy for the price we paid for. Im also surprised with the amount of things that are in this Hostel that it might be called a hotel at this point they have literally added everything you could think of.Definitely would recommend this better than Airbnb a lot cheaper if you dont mind sharing with other guests.

Kyoto Morris Hostel is so amazing you wont believe its a hostel. From the moment you check-in, youll do a double-take on the sign to make sure youre at the right place. The entrance, lobby and overall experience are above and beyond what most travelers will expect from a hostel.Kyoto Morris Hostel is conveniently located within a 10 minute walk of the train station and you can walk to several small cafes, convenience stores and restaurants in the neighborhood. The rooms are comfortable and minimalist, but you have a rack to hang some of your clothes. There is a shared bathroom downstairs, but its beautiful like a high-end fitness spa gym. The best part? They have DYSON hair dryers!! Having a professional hair dryer on vacation feels like such a luxury, so I was shocked that Kyoto Morris Hostel has them for use. There is an excellent little bar downstairs that serves Japanese soda and a variety of alcoholic beverages. The bartender, Shu is a lot of fun and helpful with recommendations of what to do in Kyoto.Fun fact: You can try out a number of unique pillows for free! They are stacked in a glass case near the lobby.

It is more a hotel, than a hostel and they nearly thougt on everything. Absolute spotless, everywhere. You can even choose between pillows. Washing machine and dry cleaner are for free, they are super tidy and they also provide baskets to put your clothes in!!! Showers with lots of power. Great living room in the basement to hang around, with kitchen. Comfortable beds, nice and friendly staff. Free bike rental. Nice neighborhood. And a bakery factory is next door, which means the whole area smells like pastries ;)! Stay there if you are in kyoto. Excellent value!!

We had a perfect stay at the Kyoto Morris Hostel. We stayed 3 days atthe Hostel in a family room. The staff is great!!! They are veryhelpful, patient and curtious. The room itself was spacious. The kidstook the top beds and enjoyed their sleep. The "bunk beds" are hugeand very comfy. You have plugs as well as usb plugs for charging whichis very convenient. The bathrooms and showers are spotless. The socialarea is very nice - you can sit on the sofas or at the table if youneed something done for some reason or other. The breakfasts are asteal. The selection is very wide from Japapanese style breakfast toregular scrabled eggs and pancakes. Nice deserts french croissantswhich you can heat up in an oven. When we needed to checkcarbohadrates for flakes for our son the staff went out of their wayto check it. Julek and Kaja loved the stay and send their love toChika :)

Location is easy to find from the metro station, and the staff makes you feel at home. Shared bathrooms but there is a family bathroom if needed. Breakfast is ok, very convenient to not have to find something to feed kids in another country as it has mostly Western style food. Everyone speaks English very well, which comes as a surprise after coming from Tokyo. The rooms are so clean, we thought no one had stayed in ours yet. Location is convenient to get to the strip and easy enough for Gion. Good luck finding a better place!
