Kwanlin Dün Cultural Centre - Cultural centre in Whitehorse, Canada
Amazing facility with beautiful indigenous art on display.
Nice and warm people
Wow!! What a beautiful building and history it has to tell. It is a cultural center / Conference center so it is a hybrid building, but totally worth the visit. A wonderful human took some time to give us pamphlets and made us feel welcome. Id recommend making a stop here
Friendly staff and some good history.
Great place to learn
Beautiful Centre for holding events. The meeting hall is very well done. The grounds are wonderfully kept.
I enjoy being here, there always some thing different going on here
Beautiful venue
Very friendly and helpful. Excellent resources for hiking Kluane.
The staff are very friendly and respectful. A great place to start if you are looking to gain knowledge about First Nations culture in The Yukon. Lots of beautiful exhibits. A definite must.
Informative, respectful displays of historic and contemporary figures and events housed in a beautiful building. Knowledgable and helpful staff answered our many questions.
Great conference rooms
I came to the winter market here which was indoor, warm and had controlled entry due to COVID-19. I felt really comfortable and at ease here. They have really nice and clean washrooms and hand sanitizers ready for use anytime. The items they sell were local produced honey, handicrafts, art etc. Its a pretty nice place to shop and support local businesses especially during such difficult times. Apparently this is a yearly affair so stay tuned during each Christmas period and it lasts for 12 days if I didnt remember wrongly. Some of the items are really popular and run out really fast so if you see something you like, dont hesitate. All in all the place is clean, staff really friendly and not rude. Some places have staff who hate their job absolutely and dont bother to make life for visitors. When you enter, the staff do greet you and check that you put on your masks properly (which is really important to me during such a difficult and dangerous pandemic period). Not totally my kind of place to visit, but all in all the experience is really good, 4 stars is well deserved.
Great place to read up on history and see Indigenous art and clothing.
Beautiful! They had artists in residence out behind the main building during the summer. Beading, glasswork, hand tattooing, painting, all good things. ☺️
I went here for an event. OMG! I absolutely love the place. There are a variety of halls and lots of information to read while you wait for your party or the function you go there to attend.
Beautiful cultural center and attended wonderful events here great venue.
I loved the place! Love all the effort to tell the first Nations history and keep them alive until today!
Caveat: My rating is purely for the museum aspect of the complex. This is actually part museum, part conference center, part community center. (I think?)The exhibits are well put together, and do shine a different light upon history - which is excellently done. What I found disappointing was that there was basically one medium-length hallway of good exhibits, and then a handful of small displays of artifacts and information (text & picturesin the lobby. Its definitely worth a visit, but please dont expect to spend more than a couple-few hours there at most.
A wonderful place. Excellent Christmas market on until the 23rd. An iconic building highlights the Yukon First Nations.
It is a awesome place. Everybody was so great. Very friendly and a wonderful atmosphere.
Beautiful venue. Stunning architecture
We visited on a quiet day but we enjoyed the information available at the time. We also saw photos of events in the past and Im sure if we were in town during these events it would have been much more enjoyable. Beautiful building.
Happened to come by when a music festival was in progress. Caught a couple songs that were modern interpretations of traditional native music. Captivating and wonderful.
A must visit for aboriginal culture and history on the bank of the Yukon River
Awesome cake and hospitality service
Right in the heart of downtown Whitehorse! The center is a hub of cultural and community activities, and an easy walk from anywhere in downtown Whitehorse.
What a beautiful place. Gorgeous building, lots of rooms for events and lovely displays of artwork.
Very nice place for meetings. The art throughout the building is beautiful and makes a visit worth it in itself.
Went to the cranberry crafts festival, held here every year. A great building, with some nice First Nations art on display. Lots of parking available, and a small cafeteria-style restaurant is inside.
Over crowded with not enough space. Broken into smaller rooms that didnt show the vendors adequateLy and allowed only a few shoppers in at a time. A poor choice, craft shows areore successful held on a large facility. Lets choose a .ore appropriate sitr!
Beautiful building. Full conference services. Commercial kitchen. Located on the Yukon River in downtown Whitehorse.
The building was very inviting. The room we used was comfortable and well organized. I was impressed with the collection of FN art and the history placards on the walls. Very nice.
This place is phenomenal! Love love love this place, so clean and tidy. Love the people and the atmosphere ❤💜 highly recommend this place!
Amazing venue to book for weddings or events. Super helpful staff and great location
A really beautiful building. awesome place for conventions and meetings. The main hall is massive. Lots of historical memorabilia and art work inside to walk around, read and view. Absolutely Worth a visit, for sure. Also check out the library right beside it also a great place to learn more about yukon history.
See the results of the modern reconciliation process and self government. Guided tours invite visitors into a conversation about how we can recognize the hurts of the past (as well as present issues such as missing and murdered indigenous women and girlsand move forward together. Inspiring! It is great to see indigenous youth leading the way!
Beatifull place and excellent music
We took a free tour under official Canadian Youth Council Member Ashley Cummings. She was so lovely and is deeply connected to the indigenous people of Canada. She explained to us about how they survived. Sustainable fur trapping. And the importance of the first nations and idgenious tribes becoming self governing, its importance as well as the gloomy indian act. Thanks Kwanlin Dun for your important work in the yukon, your continued effort and Ashley for her amazing contributions. We will follow you on the youth council :)
Gorgeous venue rich with local cultural significance, displaying art and with extensive interpretive services. Beautiful layout, and high quality AV services.
This excellent multi use building is great for conferences, concerts and retreats. String First Nation cultural presence.
Good location. Adequate, free parking. Building is beautiful. Food very good
Wanted more time to explore and will be making a return trip next summer. Friendly staff, wonderful experiences. Would recommend everyone take the time and spend the week, for the cultural exposure alone. Then there is all that marvelous outdoor activities, with history galore!
Kwanlin dun cultural center is first nation owned and operated. Conventions, conferences, gatherings of all sorts. They provide catering. Situated on the banks of the Yukon River in downtown Whitehorse, Yukon.
Came here as a visitor just to have a look. Ended up getting a guided tour from a lovely individual who graciously shared her culture and the history of her people and the land. Also had some very yummy fresh bannock I wish I had come here earlier during my trip to Whitehorse, instead of on the last day when we were in a rush to leave. Absolutely loved the experience!
Was here for the fire lighting ceremony on the first day of summer. Awesome event.
Not what I expected. I thought it would have more history, like a museum, its more like a meeting place you can book out with groovy memorabilia from the past- not taking away from the history or displays there is just thought thered be more because the building is called a cultural centre is all. Worth a gander though.
Beautiful building. Great view of the river. Amazing simple and healthy catering. The bannock is terrific.
Awesome cultural centre. Love to be there. Very friendly people, nice halls, great events.
A beautiful building highlighting first nations culture and traditions. Good for residents and visitors looking to visit a Yukon attraction/museum.
