Kwan Thai Restaurant in Ipswich

Enjoyable meal although not the cheapest. Only one beer on offer at £4.50 for a 330ml bottle which is a bit steep. Food was lovely tho. Had crispy noodles and weeping tiger.

FANTASTIC! Such a great find as our meal (one of the set ones for 2was absolutely superb. Food quality was top class and the service was very good too. Would recommend to anyone who likes Thai food and good hospitality

2 out of 4 dishes were not good. Sent the noodke dish back as it was mushy and dark brown really not nice. The scallops is special thai sauce wasnt nice either.The starter was nice and the curry was nice but too hot, but thats just personal taste.Also we felt really rushed..... we were advised when hooking for 6.30 that we had to be out by 8.30pm but we had finished and rushed out by 7.30 not a pleasant relaxed meal. One staff started clearing our plates after we had said we hadnt finished! Such a shame as it was my birthday treat and I was really looking forward to it. Not worth the expensive treat of £67 to feel so disappointed

A quick meal with friends before a football match. Always enjoy Thai food...and this was fantastic. Great friendly service, wonderful menu, great food and great flavours...all beautifully presented. This was everything I had looked for in a Thai restaurant. When back in Ipswich...this is where I will eat.

Delicious food, quick service and reasonable price. Definitely recommend this place for Thai food in Ipswich center.Green Curry with steamed rice was the standout dish for us, tom yum soup wasnt the best we have had. Kwan Thais recommendation for starter was good.

Just amazing food in a really nice old building with fantastic service. Chicken Musman Curry was amazing, and the Weeping Tiger is always fantastic. If youve not been, you really must! Cant recommend it highly enough.

Awesome food, great hosts, friendly venue.

We had a conference at the hotel. While people were presenting the staff were doing the maintenance of the hotel, a huge sound of bottles were heard a few times. The mattress was far to soft, meaning you sank in on the bed, leading to backache. The place is in a great location. Shame lacks quite a lot of management details.

Probably the best Thai in the UK Ive been to.Ive been going to the Kwan Thai for well over a decade when Im in Ipswich. Ive tried many Thais through the years, but I always compare them against this one. The food is superb. They really know what theyre doing and do it to a very high standard. The staff are excellent and very attentive. Ive never had to try and get someones attention even when theyve been full to the rafters. Its a small place, so it has a nice cosy feeling. But, because its small it van feel a little claustrophobic for some. The only downside are the tiny loos, but their restricted by space because theyre in a very old historic building.I will definitely be going back.

Went with a friend and the owner was very gracious enough to accept us as walk ins for a Friday night dinner service.The food was absolutely exquisite and the servers were very friendly. Their Weeping Tiger steak dish is most definitely their highlight. Would absolutely recommend this place!!!

Went a few years ago on a work trip and it was incredible. Colleague had sizzling beef fillet & I had Beef Massaman (my favourite Thai dishand both were outstanding. Would love to go back but it’s a long drive from Manchester!

Went here last night and it was so good I had to leave a review. It was our first time and we had a set meal for two (G). It was wonderful! We tried so many different items cant wait to go back. Would highly recommend

As always this is a restaurant that is a joy to visit. A warm and friendly welcome, service that is attentive but not intrusive and food that is, quite simply, superb. Factor in the price (very reasonableand you have a winning combination. Only given 5 stars because I cannot give 6.

The starters were very nice and as expected for a good Thai restaurant. Unfortunately for us though the main courses were all very salty to the point where we didnt want to finish what we ordered. We could have really enjoyed our meal here as the atmosphere was very pleasant and the service was very fast. This was our first trip to the Kwan Thai restaurant and we were a bit disappointed after reading all the good reviews. My advice to chef is lay off on the salt a little and let the other flavours come through.

Went for celebration lunch. Shown straight to a prepared table, attentive staff, recommended the best choice for people who dont set to much about Thai food. Food was delicious and served quickly. Would definitely recommend.

Nice and spicy. Papaya salad (Som Tamis excellent!! Recomended.Tom Yum Kung is good. Just disappointed with meat... smelled a bit.Nice friendly waiter and good service. I definitely come back here again.

I have eaten here several times and the food, service and atmosphere have always been exceptional. Super tasty, imaginative dishes served with a friendly smile - what more could you want?However, they have gone above and beyond when it comes to their takeaway service. I had ordered an anniversary meal for my sister and brother in law via Just Eat to arrive at 6pm. The driver never arrived at the restaurant despite marking the order as collected. To make amends for Just Eats terrible service, the lovely staff at Kwan Thai arranged to cook a fresh meal and drop it round to my sister personally within the hour.100% recommend!

Ive been there yesterday evening on a date night with my partner and we had the most amazing time! The staff is absolutely brilliant and welcoming and friendly and the food is out of this world! I just cant wait to go back there!! We both had an amazing time over there!!I want to thank all the staff for an absolutely amazing dining experience!10 stars for this beautiful and amazing place!!

Loved it. Word of advice for Thai novices, go for the set menus, you get a good mix of starters and mains. The chilli beef is hot!!We got there for 6pm, a party of 6. Any later than 7.30pm and it starts to get busy. Dont worry though, the service is mega quick and friendly too. We ordered set menu G and K which got us starters and 9 mains. More than enough for 6. Worked out (with a few drinksroughly £24 pp. So very reasonable for one of the most popular restaurants in town. Will definitely return.

Wonderful restaurant, food has never dissapointed me and the staff are always friendly, polite and dont just grunt at you. I would recommend this to anyone, and if youre not sure what to have the staff will highly recommend something and are knowledgeable about all of the dishes and ones theyve personally tried and like. We even said to the waiter bring us three dishes, doesnt matter what they are. We were not disappointed.

Really nice truly Thai restaurant, you instantly get a feeling of Thailand the moment you step inside. The staff are very welcoming and kind, especially so if you can speak Thai! The food was amazing, in many different ways. The place is small but it feels cosy, not cramped. We were on a small two person table and didnt feel cramped even with Thai style cuisine. Overall lovely experience.

It was alright but I wouldnt rave about it. The food was ok although I think wed choose somehing else next time.Polite and friendly staff.
