Arabian Gulf Street next to the Seif Palace and Kuwait’s National Assembly، Kuwait City, Kuwait, Ar Rumaythīyah
Restored national museum with a planetarium, heritage & archeology exhibits & a dhow sailing boat.
Small but interesting museum showcasing local archaeology finds dating from Neolithic times through Islamic periods. They could do with some more descriptions. The count room and ethnographic sections are more diverse
This place presents Kuwaiti old culture.I visited this place .No need any tikets. This place 2 division .....Division 1 Kuwaiti old money. Old maps. Old book and hand made wark.Division 2 pagent Kuwaiti old culter. old living thinking.Old shop. Old camera. Old tobla . Old wash. This have Kuwait old King 👑👑👑 picture in 1942 etc
This Museum has been one of the most important figures in Downtown Kuwait. Not to many people are here and the tickets are all free for two visits; The Heritage Museum and the Front Gate. Not the best place to visit but worth it if you are more interested in history.
A Good Visit...When it Comes to Museum... it shows the heritage of The Great Kuwait 🇰🇼.... but the Outer Maintenence of the Kuwiat National Museum is not good.... but the Museum shows replica of so many things like Kuwaits Currency and the holy Quran and the life of our ancestors.... and I felt the hardest life of our ancient kuwaitis... their Greatness...#Alhamdulilla #ShukranKuwait🇰🇼
Beautiful place to visit. Specially archaeological artefacts and findings are very nice.
They closed down the planetarium. That was the main reason for us to go there
Got to know more about Kuwaits history. It is really fun
Kuwait National Museum 03 February 2020 Located along the Arabian Gulf Street between Seif Palace and National Assembly, the Kuwait National Museum is a true representation of the Kuwait Heritage. Architecture & Design Designed by the French architect Michel Ecochard, visitors can enjoy this historical museum, which represent the Kuwaiti life in the past, their everyday activities, the rich trading history of Kuwait and its traditions. The museum consists of five buildings built around a central garden; this is similar to the architectural plan of the vernacular Arab mud house which has a central courtyard. The National Museum also exhibits the wonderful art collection by the Al-Sabah dynasty. Indeed, there are two types of museums. The first displays artifacts found during an archaeological dig in Failika Island, terracotta and engraved tools, wooden doors of the past, group of cutters and blades from Neolithic age and flint stone, silver statues, 16 million old animal fossil, bronze coins from bronze period and Hellenistic period. The other museum exhibits include statues depicting the old ways of Kuwaitis, old photos dating back to 1942, a typical Kuwaiti house prior to invasion of modern technology and in general, the museum displays artifacts of what Kuwait was like during the 40s and 50s. Though, the museum was stripped of several of these artifacts during the Gulf war, it has been restored and is open to public for display. Therefore, for the visitors who are not very familiar with the full chronological and geographic spread of the Islamic world, a visit to Kuwait National Museum will be helpful., a typical Kuwaiti house prior to invasion of modern technology and in general, the museum displays artifacts of what Kuwait was like during the 40s and 50s. Good place to see old Kuwait
Impressive Heritage culture gallery
It has a lot of potential but sadly it looks abandoned. Most exhibitions are closed.
Great place!!,lot of history on it,really enjoyed it!!
This is one of my favourite places in Kuwait, the amazing architecture will catch your eyes! Im giving it 4 stars for one reason, that it lacks touristic bazar, any guest visiting the heritage museum expect to buy some souvenirs that represent Kuwait and this is no available there, also it seems that only few people visit that amazing place although its free of charge so I think the government should make more efforts to activate the beauty of this great place!
One of the favourite place, Kuwait National Museum is situated in Kuwait City. One of the largest museums in Kuwait.Wonderful and awesome. You will see the life style, old age culture and many more.Visit here for more info.
I have seen the outside of the building and it is very nice, but the timings are wrong. Maybe they forgot to change the timings. It closes at twelve thirty and there aren’t any afternoon sessions.
Museum focused on Kuwait’s culture and heritage. A great spot for visitors to learn about Kuwait. The museum recently underwent a major renovation and will be launching more galleries and collections in the coming months.Staff at the museum were very friendly and helpful.
Its a brief snap shots of past Kuwait. Only three sections are open, rest sections are closed due to renovation works. The depth of Kuwaiti history & heritage is not more than 3-4 centuries. More olds are the part pre-islamic & Islamic heritage. But overall impression about the museum as National museum is good.
Nice collection of artifacts and scripture of Islamic history of the Arabian Gulf. A well crafted showcase of Kuwaitis life and culture
Its a wonderful place to visit who are interested in the history. There is a very good collection of pre Islam and post Islam pottery, utensils, coins etc. Another part of the museum is Heritage Center wherein the culture and tradition of kuwaiti society is showcased in a very beautiful manner. Its a must visit please and there is no entry ticket doe the museum and heritage center, its totally free.
I been asked by the Kuwait’s National Council to reprint my book about Coneiform.inscriptions at Kuwait National Museum. Published 1990.
A pleasant experience

Very cool place, unfortunately I couldnt get in, coz it works from 4 pm.You check more pictures from my trip all around the world on my IG: lordcostasober
On the day of writing the review did not like that the building around the museum. Inside there are exhibits worthy of attention. But many places are not available for viewing.
It is beautiful and need more Advertising!! and more Care !!
do not go with food there or kids will be better try to eat before you go in it will take you awhile to go hack out its big wide big , cleen your phone camera before taking pics by cloth finger print will make you regret latter the rusted fade pics , take care of smoking or breaking something they dont joke there security monitoring all time. do not carry heavy enough water phone in a lite shoulder bag , take your time in watching the pcs details you bay for it try not to touch the glasses around the antiques to keep it clear as you saw it . enjoy the tour .
Its a great experience for children to learn about Kuwaits history and heritage. The visuals give you a very authentic feel but its a bit dusty and doesnt seem to have great air circulation.
Kuwait national museum is good place to visit. In this museum you look Kuwait old people life style and culture.Must visit to know Kuwait life style in old days.
After a grand re-opening I was expecting new exhibitions but there was a tiny display of findings at Failaka Island and a heritage village that is absolutely outdated and badly described. Some of the displays have no English whatsoever and some have bad English. Its dark and rather unpleasant and non-informative
Have a great value items and pretty old rare stuff all free and good to visit with a friend or a family, have fun
There are traces of a kuwaiti past. However, they desperately need someone to provide written information elaborating what the images can tell us, feedback about the lifestyles etc.. there are plenty of kuwaiti elderly that can be asked about this and it can further be transferred into written narrative for the museum
Nice place to visit.. helps to understand the culture and history .
We arrived at 11:20, and on the website and on Google it says they close at 12:30. They told us that on Saturdays they close at 11:30 even though it doesnt say that anywhere. They only let us visit one room in a hurry. Probably they just wanted to go lunch early. We wasted a trip there.
The main museum which shows you the history of Kuwait. You can learn more about the old Kuwait and Kuwaitis. The traditions and Habits. You can see some monuments, money, pictures, weapons, books.. etc. Its worth the visit. The entrance to the museum was free when I visited it, and I think it’s still free of charge.
Takes you to the oldage of kuwait how people survives those days without ac and other luxurious things but i noticed many things are missing as of my last visit sorry no fotos allowed
This is the only Museum in Kuwait I believe. Not that big or that good, but still OK. Do not expect muchThe maintenance is not that good.Maintenance works are going very slowlyNo guide to explain things. specially no one is available to explain in English.Good parking area.Located in kuwait city near the see.Very small
There are some interesting displays of ancient fossils and artifacts from Failika Island, a lovely Heritage village recreating life in Kuwait before oil came into the picture, and a good collection of items related to Thomas Edison. There is construction in part of the campus including the planetarium. Apparently it will be closed for another 6 months, so I wish they would report that on their website
One day it will be execellent again
Musuem is under renovation. Hardly anything interesting to see. Also its extremely difficult to find the entrance. There are lots of displays of holy quran of various time periods. Then are different types of coins displayed.
Good Place for School going kids. Free entry we need to submit one persons Civil ID for security purpose.Mesopotamian culture related Ancient Kuwaiti Ornaments, Equipments etc... which are displayed in Heritage village part. The heritage village will give 100% satisfaction.Main defective which I feels no guide. At least good audio guidance as we are getting in Al Shaheed park Museum.
You can get some good memories if you interested in it.
A nice collections of antiques used from 6th century onwards of many empires.Really a worthy place to visit .I felt impressed by the heritage museum close by.It is really well made by the architect.I was allowed to watch the museum till 11:30am only.
Nothing is special here untill the renovation finished.
Nice place to see history of Kuwait. some good collection of historical items & cultures. Currently there is a lot of construction work there but still open wish it was bigger. It is operates from 08-12 then from 16-20 it is not crawded in the morning. entery is free of charge. Need to show some sort of ID/ passport to enter, you must have it with you
I visited two weeks ago. Old Quran scriptures, old pottery and Kuwait coins can be found. The only part of the museum accessible is Archeological Museum, artifacts mostly unearthed from Failaka Island and the Heritage Museum. Most part of it are still under renovation. Looks like they are going to modernize this museum. I will definitely visit again once they finish reconstructing the place. It will be huge.
Still under construction but its nice place you will like it
I love this place! I got to learn a little more about the history of Kuwait and its culture. However, I was a bit disappointed that some parts of the museum is closed due to some renovations, so I didnt get to fully experience the whole place at its best (Hence the 4 stars). Anyway, Id still like to come back once theyre done.
Wonderful place to know about the history of Kuwait
This place could be the best attraction in town.
This forgotten relic of Kuwaits past is both delightful and disappointing. Its delightful in that it still hold a lot of wonderful artifacts that pay tribute to Kuwaits past, but is disappointing as most of these treasures are left under the poorest of conditions. A must see for all visitors in Kuwait. Try and stop by the planitarium if you have kids or love astronomy. They have two set viewings one for kids and one for adults. See timing outside. PS: the place is mostly deserted.
