Kejetia Road, Kumasi, Ghana, Kumasi
Opened in 1957, this 370-acre zoo features dozens of animal species native to Ghana.
The zoo is very big and is helpful to visit there with your young kids
Beautiful types of animals and the environment is clean and nice
I loved it here but I was expecting elephants and some exotic animals but I didnt see them. I was happy though
Its ok for one visit
The place is very attractive with a lot of sceneries for sight seeing. Will recommend to all parents, guardians, schools , churches etc to make this place a destination when choosing a great place to visit
It was awesome..really enjoyed the place
This is loving when you get the chance to play with Gods beautiful creations like the monkey π and the snake π,,, well I love the place being renovated and how loving the atmosphere and the environment is. Do you wanna see for yourself Im uploading photos and videos. Check out and enjoy the beauty of Kumasi Zoo. Lots of wildlife to enjoy.
With our students, Kumasi Zoo was a hilarious outdoor experience. The fear π§, the joy π€© ππ and unity were mwah π π
There is a naturally grace over so Im edging you to go and experience it.
No tour guide. They should organize the tourists in batches and assign a tour guide to each batch so that people do not just roam about watching animals without major learning.
I especially like the lions. Never been so close before! And the baby chimps somehow figured out how to get out of their cagesπ Oh and roving band of donkeys were sweet until they realized you had food. I enjoyed it!
This Zoo is well equipped with different breeds of animals and its very spacious.. the only downside was that I requested a tour guide and they asked me to use the map and go round myself.. I even wanted to pay a token for the tour guide but there was none available.. I wasnt pleased at all...Adieu!!!!
The place was quiet. It surroundings was rather noisy with a lot of activities.
Was such a nice and memorable moment being there.
Yh i visited it and i saw plenty animals i havent sited them before.... especially like the chimpanzees...
Its a very nice place to be seeing wonderful creatures of God. But the place needs some form of renovation. And the should try and bring more wildlife animals.
A nice place to visit. Its Ok for me and my group, but we were expecting to see more animals. We hope more renovations could be done. In all its a great place to visit to go around to watch tamed and untamed animals. You will love it.
This place needs a little more touch than it is. Couldnt find some common animals that should be in zoo (Zebra, elephant, hippo, etc). Management can also think improving the condition of animals there. They might die of food poisoning if we allow strangers to feed them
At first I was scared to go there but when I went there the place is very cool and the animals too
I was pleasantly surprised when i went with my family to the Kumasi zoo. They have a lot of animals and its really big... Bigger than they Accra zoo. The zoo guide was very pleasant and really educated us about the animals.
I and my family were very much excited for physically seeing almost all the wild animals weve been watching on television.I recommend you to take your family there so that the children will have the chance to see the baboons, chimpanzees, gorillas, monkeys, lions and lioness, crocodiles, eagle, big snakes and many more wild creatures.
Everything is available to buy there
Cool place and gradually improving and becoming better
Its a great experience to be at the zoological gardens. Spending time with nature is the best and I recommend it to you too.
Actually has a decent amount of animals, lions, chimpanzees, camels, ostriches etc. Just its not very well looked after. The staff are very unhelpful and parts of the zoo look unkempt. S tidy up and having more engaged staff would make a huge difference
Try are trying to give it a facelift...but they can still do better...they should bring in more animals & thoroughly redo all the grounds & cages to make them attractive!!
Honestly I had high expectations of the place given the hype thats going on lately. Visited the location only to realize majority of the animals present were infants. The worry is, most of then seemed Malnourished. The duikers appeared to have sores on the feet; could be signs of infections. Broke my heart to see them that way. Given that the animals are young, I have high hopes for the future of the zoo. But for the zoo to make waves, more animals need to be introduced and the zoo needs to be properly maintained to keep the animals lively and healthy. The location of the zoo is also something else: had to navigate through intense human and vehicular traffic before arriving there; a bit laborious for the ordinary tourist, I must admit. Notwithstanding, the zoo has a lot of promise, good enough reason for people to visit.
They are restocking the place with various kinds of animals
The place is being renovated. Its not a shiny zoo but it makes a nice outing for an hour an a half if you have small children.
The Kumasi Zoological Garden, commonly called Kumasi Zoo was established in 1951 and officially opened in 1957 by the Asanteman Council as part of efforts to conserve nature with the purpose of displaying indigenous wild animals of Ghana in captivity, engage in the breeding of endangered species, offer a sanctuary for orphaned animals, generate revenue, offer a place for relaxation and recreation, and to demonstrate the linkage between wildlife and culture. The Kumasi Zoo is invariably one of the known tourist sites in the Ashanti Region and Ghana at large. It has about 40 different species with individual species numbering over 135.Β The zoo, located on a 1.5km square area, is between the Kumasi Kejetia Bus Terminal and Kumasi Centre for national culture. The environment at the zoo is refreshing. The chirping birds, roaring chimps, hissing snakes, crowing fowls, swinging monkeys, quacking geese, and above all, grazing donkeys and an elephant painted a colourful setting
They had all the animals I was looking forward to see and our tour guide was also very very intelligent and so she give us all the information we needed to know
Lovely and refreshing place
I enjoyed the Kumasi Zoo! Comparing it to the Accra zoo I would say I like the Kumasi zoo better; it was spacious, green and had more animals.Prices range from 2-10ghc for locals and 5-20ghc for foreignersThereβs a small stand you can get water and drinks, I advise you take snacksIt wasnβt a guided tour like it is at Accra Zoo. We went around ourselves and it was decent. I think you can ask for a guide. Some cages had the information on the animals, some didnβt.The chimpanzees were definitely the most interesting. They would clap and ask for stuff. I saw them eat a whole lot of human food given by the guest, hope itβs safe or the zoo keepers need to advise against it upon entry. The Baboons cage at the zoo was too small from my perspective and made me sad. Most animals had decent cage sizes. I dunno the more I explore zoos I realise I prefer safaris
Place is still under renovation but it is open to public. You can have a view of various animals and I think they will add more when the renovation works are done. Just need to get your guides with sufficient knowledge of the animals. Location is very strategic in the middle of town.
Room for many improvements but nice. No eateries inside, no areas to sit and rest. Not all animals had information where they came from and if they did, it wasnt visible.
Had a great time learning about the different features and temperaments of these amazing animals. The tour guide was very knowledgeable and took us to see every single animal, eventhough we all starting getting tired halfway through..π€£π€£. It costs 10gh for locals and i think 15gh for visitors/foreigners. You can even have the royal python put around your neck for an extra 2gh. These prices I think are very affordable. However try not to feed the animals; it can be dangerous. A great place to learn and have fun with friends and family. Check it out and let me know what you think. ππ
The tourist guide took time to give detailed information about all the animals available. The environment needs a little revamp
Happy but couldnt see most of the animals I was expecting
The place is wonderful although they lack enough tour guides
Major improvement but some renovation works still ongoing. Definitely worth the visit.
It is such a lovely place to visit with several animals to see.
The place is mow under renovation.Information I gathered indicate that by December this year, it will be completed and opened to the public.I cant wait to see the upgrade.See you there in December
Could have a better abundance and selection of animal especially given the climate
The place is improved with new animals
Lovely place to send your kids as also to relax. Experience nature with lions, primates, snakes, crocodile and other fascinating birds
It was an awesome experience for me being the first time I had an encounter with some animals like lions, camel, cobra, crocodile, eagle, chimpanzees among others.
The annimals where friendly and a bit well kept but i think the zoo needs to be improved to attract people there.
Nice place but need to be taken care of more
I and my siblings having fun at Ghana zoological garden Kumasi, we was Soo excited
I love animals, but these animals werent enough good conditions and there were only some animals . I hope very soon they make better that place . Animals deserve thatβ€οΈ
