3-tiered hillside waterfalls cascading into small swimming pools, accessible by walkways & bridges.
Amazing waterfall and good walking trail. As a plus you can watch rescued bears here. 🐻💚
Breath-taking waterfalls. Just cannot believe I could find this kind of place in Laos. This place is combined with bear reserve park. Pretty interesting but all I love and impress was this waterfall 🥰🥰
The most beautiful waterfall..stunning
Really impressive waterfall and swimming pools. A useful reminder would be: if you plan to climb up to the top of the main waterfall, wear true hiking boots and bring sticks, especially in wet season. The hiking trail up is very steep and slippery. If you just want to swim and relax, then no need to climb up. The swimming areas down stream is good too.
We took the van for 70k per person from our hostel in Luang Prabang. The driver gave us almost 3 hours to indulge the beautiful waterfall. Pay 20k (foreigner rate feeat the ticket counter, and wait for a couple of minutes for the electric buggy. Hop on and they will bring us to the actual entrance to the nature. We passed by a village too during the 5-minute car ride. When you go in, take the right junction slightly into the woods and you will see Deng, the rescued sunbear at the bear conservatory centre. If you go straight will lead to highest peak of waterfall already, you will miss the fun. Shortly after bear conservatory, wallah the blue water before your eyes! Walk up further for more beautiful view.Gentle reminder to bring a set of change cloth too, just in case you fail to resist the urge to jump into the blue stream. There’s 1 cafe here too, for a quick chill. Oh another thing, please buy the roasted ‘i-dont-know-what-type of nut at the ticket area. It cost only 30k kip for 3 packs. So delicious and I can only found there throughout my Laos trip! Regret not buying more.
I was so surprised by how amazing these falls are! The main waterfall is way bigger than you think, and it’s so beautiful. The colours of the water really are a spectacular blue/green.We got there through our hostel who organised return transport for 70,000kip each. The entry is now 25,000kip so make sure you have enough cash. There are food vendors outside the main entrance, or you can bring your own food and drink. The place is really developed now, the main centre is where all the parking is and included in your entrance ticket is an electric buggy ride to the gated entrance to walk to the falls from. Don’t miss the bear sanctuary on your way to the falls, they do an amazing job rescuing the bears and making a lovely sanctuary for them.If you have the energy take a walk up to the top of the falls. I would recommend walking up and down the left hand side, I was told this by someone the day before as the right side is very slippy. Wear sensible shoes if you’re going to do this.
Worth the drive. Go early in the morning since gets busy in afternoon. $25k kilp per foreigner entry to park. Free electric buggy road further up road. Good cafe next to false 1/2 way down. Good for a beer Lao and lunch. Watch where you walk. Uneven tree routes and footpath.
A beautiful nature park! It has a nice trail going along wonderful waterfalls and cascades. At the entrance, theres a black bear shelter - it is so cool to be able to have a look at these admirable creatures from so close! The trail itself is very easy - really worthwhile visiting!
Loved this gorgeous waterfall!Get a bike to visit here as the ride to the location is pleasant. Once you buy your ticket, you get on an electric cart that will take you to the entrance. When you enter, you first pass through the Bear Sanctuary. The bears were adorable and fun to watch. You can make a donation if you wish. You then walk further to the waterfall. Clear and turquoise blue, the Kuang Si Waterfall is more beautiful in real than any photos. Continue walking up until you reach the main Waterfall. We spent 3 hours here and swam in the cold refreshing water.
Wow absolutely stunning, a must visit for sure, ticket includes electric car to top or you can walk from bottom of waterfall it’s beautiful, never seen blue water like it and the best waterfall we’ve ever seen, went in rainy season too and it was just as clean and clear!
Best waterfall I have ever seen. Entrance fee of 25.000 Kip per person is totally acceptable and includes the transportation from the parking lot to the entrance with an electric car.
Absolutely beautiful place. Many nice places to swim in the pools.Place is well kept.Dont skip the source at the top. No need to hire the boat, its only a 200m swim.
Beautiful and secure place to swim. The water is cold!! Something wonderful for the heat. It have a (rescuedbear sanctuary. Its good to see theyre taking care of those animals.
Tickets are 25k kip for a foreigner, Lao person 15k and kids are free. Walk or take an electric tram through the small village to the entrance. Walk past the bear exhibit and to the first small waterfall and another short walk to the huge waterfall. Swimming locations along the way. There are stairs that are to the left of the giant waterfall leading up to a swimming oasis and a small swing for pictures. There are a couple of friendly local guys with a boat nearby that will take you on a short ride through the lagoon for 10k per person 5k per kid.
It’s not hard to take fantastic photos and video of this dramatic waterfall. The roar of water, the beautiful limestone, the many different levels as the water makes it way down stream. The word “Spectacular” seems insufficient to describe how powerful this gorgeous site is.Crazy if you don’t visit while in Luang Prabang.
This waterfall really stands out for both its scale and beauty. You need to take an electric buggy from a car park to the base of the falls for a very small charge.
Magnificent waterfall, a must visit place in Luang Prabang.
Its an amazing and gorgeous place. Difficult to describe because is too magical. You start on the bears and go step by step descovering the small waterfalls until arrive in the big one.
July 2018 - Asia Tour - The Kuang Si Falls or Kuang Xi Falls, alternatively known as the Tat Kuang Si Waterfalls, is a three-tiered waterfall about 29 kilometers south of Luang Prabang. The waterfalls are a favourite side trip for tourists in Luang Prabang, and begin in shallow pools atop a steep hillside
amazing, don’t hesitate just go see it!entrance fee is 25,000 kip per person and includes the electric shuttle to the main gate. hold your ticket as you need to show it here.We went in August, still amazing to see!partner went for a swim in middle pool, but be aware the current from the falls is strong so make sure you can swim!the loop around the top of the main water fall is slippery, this is not an exaggeration, have good hiking shoes with a little grip, i had new balance trainers on (managed but had to really watch my step especially going downthe path is not all concrete steps is mostly clay (this could vary in the drier season though! also don’t plan on wearing nice clothes as it will get dirty up here.the restaurant at the mid way point is relatively good value, and a quick fix for a iced coffee! staff are friendly here.go in the morning if you’re self driving and you can be flexible with how long you stay at the falls. if you are on tour , you may feel rushed! eve if you hire your own tuk tuk.the Moon bears on entrance was a delight to see! these bears are brought here to be cared for after being in captivity! all they ask is to buy a tshirt to help donate and keep them going !
A very, very touristy site. If you manage to ignore the crowd and the attempts to sell at ridiculous prices... the place is beautiful, maintained as a nature reserve and the waterfalls are impressive. Personally I preferred the waterfalls at Tat sae.
I never like waterfall until I went to this place. There is shuttle bus to send you to waterfall entrance and it only take a while to waterfallIt’s really beautiful , It’s a MUST visit place for those who come to Luang Prabang. The road is nicely done , easy to walk , no hustling 👍🏻
One of the most beautiful places Ive ever seen. If you are in Laos you must definitely go there!
The waterfall is very beautiful, the weather is very good, nature, and there are bears to see.
One of beautiful and serene waterfalls in the south east asian region with turquoise colored water, ample greenery must to visit when your are in Laos
Amazing place! Very refreshing clean water. Really recommend to hike to the top of the waterfall. It is quite steep but doesn’t take very much time, there are almost no people there and the view is stunning!
It was amazing , very well organized . All the people we met were very welcoming , you can swim in different mini lake that are amazing , if you are courageous you can climb up to the waterfall and have a wonderful trek .When you are up there you can even go to see the waterfall source in a little bamboo boat, the boat driver even offer us to share his meal( for free ❤️.Only little bad point is that people throw away their plastic bottle everywhere ( different culture I guess)
The place is super clean. Also, electric shuttles will drop elderly, families with small children or people with disabilities all the way to the waterfalls. All you have to do is ask them at the ticket booth.
Very nice place with biodiversity for relaxing
Nice trekking along the stream. One of the biggest and most beautiful Waterfall Near Luang Prabang Old Town.
This is the best ever scenic beauty I have ever seen. A perfect blend of pure air and Crystal clear water. For a moment it looks fictional but trust me its real and do take a dip dive in this cold waterfall. This is the most visited place in Laos. Very well connecting flight, train and bus service for Luang prabang.
Very big Waterfall, with many levels where you can swim in. Its looks really amazing! I drove there from Luang Prabang with the Scooter. I recommend going all the way up to the top. Literally nobody there and an amazing view plus swimming.
100% a must see when in Luang Prabang. We actually went twice during our stay because of how stunning it was. There are 3 different pools to swim in and plenty of scenic spots to take pictures of the falls. The park starts to empty after 4pm & closes at 5pm.If youre renting a bike it’s an easy & pleasant 45mins drive outside the main city. We didn’t need the map for the drive back as it’s pretty much the same road the entire way. When you get there, it’s 2000kip for parking. In the same area there are plenty of stalls/small restaurants selling food, light snacks, water, sunglasses etcYou pay 25,000K for your ticket to the actual park & for a shuttle bus which will drive you up through a small village and to the main gate where tickets are checked.Again, plenty of local restaurants here for those in need of some food as well as one restaurant inside the park near the main fall itself.Remember to bring your swimming shorts & to charge your phones for some amazing photos!
I liked this place a lot, a good half day trip also for small children. The walk is short (without the upper trail which is optionaland I believe it can be easily done even with a baby stroller. Also, the location is mostly shaded and the water are cold.Tips: bring a spray against mosquitos (especially for the upper trail), wear your bathing suit (you can change there but the water part starts early), buy some food to go at the entrance since inside there is only a restaurant and no snacks.Details: We came on Friday and there were hardly any people there. The ticket costs 25k for a person (also children). A free electric car takes you to the entrance into the nature area through the village with multiple food selling stalls all over the place. In the nature reserve you first pass through the bear sanctuary which is nice but you hardly can see the bears. A few meters after passing the sanctuary you already get to the first waterfall in which you can swim. After going through a few waterfalls you have a nice restaurant in which you can get lunch and from there you continue to the final, largest waterfall. From this point you can come back by a short asphalt road to the nature reserve entrance or you can go to the upper area of the waterfall which requires some going up all the high of the waterfall in the jungle and back on slippery stairs, this is a round trip that returns you to the other side of the big waterfall. The upper (optionalarea has a nice area of water and a view point to the source of the waterfall and an option to take a "boat" ride to the source of the stream for a small additional change. From the entrance to the nature reserve the same electric cars would take you back to the ticket office area.
The waterfall is very beautiful and you can swim here
Heaven on earth💕 What an amazing place to visit. Can tell this is only must visit place in Luang Prabang for me
Beautiful waterfalls. Once you arrive at the parking, you can board a small electric bus that brings you very close to the waterfalls. Then you take a short but very nice walk in the forest and get to several places with superbe waterfalls and clear blue lagoons. At the last (biggestwaterfall, you can climb up if you want (path on the left of the waterfallto observe the source of the waterfalls. It is takes however about 20min to reach the top and it is not as nice, but you can swim and relax. I would only recommend going there if there are too many people down (as it is usually very quiet on top)
Definitely the best waterfall in Luang Prabang, one of the top in the North. A bit too touristy at base, get up the mountain for some amazing views and relaxing time. The access is now via electric shuttle service. Entrance is 15k for locals, 25k for foreign nationals, including the shuttle. Also included access to the bear rescue center. First few waterfall stages are great and the main one is just stunning and huge. You can swim in the first stages and you can hike up to the top at the main one. Definitely a no brainer, you need to visit this if you stay in LP.
Ive seen a lot of waterfalls, but the Kuang Si ones are without a doubt a must-see. A river of turquoise, smaller cascades with a few opportunities to swim lead up to a very impressive 60m waterfall at the end. Theres toilets and change rooms along the cascades as well as a few picnic tables.I went on a Saturday and it was very busy, mainly with locals! Been told weekdays are a lot more quiet.Entrance fee for foreigners is 25.000kip which includes an electric shuttle buggy from the main ticket office to the entrance. Because it was busy, we did have to wait around 15min for a transfer. When walking to the falls, you will also pass the free-the-bears sanctuary, so keep your eyes peeled for a moon or sun bear. You can follow my travels @revelintravel
Simply beautiful waterfall, it is a must visited waterfall, there would be much more water during rainy season. It is a good place to bring your children and family for a recreation and enjoy the fresh air.
Great for a nice cool refreshing swim. Relatively well maintained and clean.
Beautiful waterfall with swimming lagoon pools at the very bottom. Not too cold and definitely worth swimming around to cool off after hiking up and circling the upper falls and pools.Watch your step as the trails are super slippery.Probably don’t do the upper hike if has recently rained.
most amazing place, best thing is to cool down in one of those natural pools and enjoy the view. The main waterfall is stunning, recommendation is to get here in the morning as in the afternoon there is a lot more people. From the left side of the main waterfall you can hike all the way up, which is a bit tough but worth it, since there is opportunity to take a quick boat ride (costs 10 000kipand to swim in the source of the waterfall.
It is far from central Luang Prabang, we can take 32km by taxi or bicycle. This water of waterfall and Accumulated little lake is amazing beautiful, with clear blue.We can climb to top of the waterfall, and also play in swimsuit. In other words, we can enjoy as small attractions.I recommend if you wanna feel nature or encounter beautiful scenery.[in May 2015]
Cool place, clear water, nice view. However, Beware when you swim,Many sharp and slipery gravel in the bottom of the river.
Cool experience but bring old/used clothes and water shoes or flip flops.
So good so nice so fresh so healthy so suitable for nature experiences and enjoy with family members.
this is a fantastic place to spend a day, can hike from the top of the waterfalls to the spring that feeds it, extremely beautiful!
You will need to purchase an entrance ticket upon arrival at the parking lot. The entrance fee for locala is 15,000 kip and foreigners 25,000 kip. You can enter by electronically scanning the QR code of the entrance ticket. You can take an electric car to the waterfall entry point. Swimming is allowed at the lower point of the waterfall, but not at the top. You can buy food and go in. When I visited in December, the water was cold and I didnt try swimming.
What makes this special is before you get to the main waterfall at the top you have a series of cascading waterfalls with its own turquoise colour water swimming hole and set amongst a lush green rainforest.(I have been there in 2011)
