Archbishops' chateau with sumptuous rococo rooms, ceiling frescoes, an art museum & formal gardens.
Wow pretty much sums it up. A must see historical building.
Visited an event.John Malkovich as a music critic. He received standing ovation, from me too
Super
Nice
206 stairs to top of the tower.
Very bad experience. Before I bought tickets to residence I explained that I am with two kids 2 and 3 years old and i asked I that is in fact possible to visit residence with kids. The manager said - no problem. He didnt say that it will be a group 20 people with a guide what makes visit impossible as kids will not stand and listen. We spoke in English so there could be no misunderstanding. Sure that after 15 minutes on excursion kids started run and were bored. And of corse I was asked to leave the group. So I didnt see anything and there was no return of money. When I said that they mustnt sell tickets to women with such small kids because visit in fact is not possible the manager said "thats not my problem". So I have a feeling that I was fooled. Be careful! Make a lot of questions before you visit this place!
You cant take pictures inside, its a nice castle the tour takes about an hour
A there hour train journey to Kroměříž that is worth every minute. And no,you dont need to take a bus from the train station to the town center. Simply walk a dozen of meters and you will fond the palace natural park stretching down near the station. Its huge 60 ha space full of ponds and rivulets. Just make sure to leave it at 5pm as gates close for the night. The palace itself offers all original furniture used by its inhabitants, and presents brought by royal visitors. And do go all the way up to the tower. On a fall morning you will see the mists gradually unvailing the beauty of the main square.
Must see
Great view from the tower.
Pleasant but the interiors arent as interesting as many other castles in the Czech Republic. We got an English printout for the Czech-language tour and everyone was very friendly. The chateau gardens are definitely worth a visit, however!
Very poorly organised and if youre a foreigner you pay More for worse treatment (you pay a premium to read the tour guide notes yourself whole waiting for the Czech guide to let you in and through). The place is pretty but not worth visiting in the current state of service.
Beautiful gardens to casually explore. Peaceful . Interesting and Special place to visit.
Beautiful in the summer. Always calm.
One of the highlights in the Czech Republic. The representative halls and the sala terrena are very impressive. The only downside is that little or no effort is made for visitors who do not speak Czech.
Impressive "Sala Terrena", worth visiting. Gallery upstairs is also quite interesting. Only problem was that guide was in Czech and they didnt provide any texts in a different language to follow. Furthermore, guide, when asked, went to look for the texts and said that "they should be somewhere here but they are not, I dont know where they are", apologized and continued in Czech 😑
Big attractive building. Wort a visit if you like historical buildings. lots of nice restored rooms full of original furniture and decor. The best is the view from the tower.
Its like stepping out from the city into the forest. Brilliant in the autumn sun
I loved this town! Quaint and not full of tourists. Beautiful garden.
The Kroměříž Castle in Kroměříž, Czech Republic, used to be the principal residence of the bishops and (from 1777archbishops of Olomouc. The first residence on the site was founded by bishop Stanislas Thurzo in 1497. The building was in a Late Gothic style, with a modicum of Renaissance detail. During the Thirty Years War, the castle was sacked by the Swedish army (1643).It was not until 1664 that a bishop from the powerful Liechtenstein family charged architect Filiberto Lucchese with renovating the palace in a Baroque style. The chief monument of Luccheses work in Kroměříž is the Pleasure Garden in front of the castle. Upon Luccheses death in 1666, Giovanni Pietro Tencalla completed his work on the formal garden and had the palace rebuilt in a style reminiscent of the Turinese school to which he belonged.Interiors of the palace were extensively used by Miloš Forman as a stand-in for Viennas Hofburg Imperial Palace during filming of Amadeus (1984), based on the life of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, who actually never visited Kroměříž. The main audience chamber was also used in the film Immortal Beloved (1994), in the piano concerto scene. After the castle was gutted by a major fire in March 1752, Bishop Hamilton commissioned two leading imperial artists, Franz Anton Maulbertsch and Josef Stern, arrived at the residence in order to decorate the halls of the palace with their works. In addition to their paintings, the palace still houses an art collection, generally considered the second finest in the country, which includes Titians last mythological painting, The Flaying of Marsyas. The largest part of the collection was acquired by Bishop Karel in Cologne in 1673. The palace also contains an outstanding musical archive and a library of 33,000 volumes.
Amazing place
Guide man Matyáš is a big racist. Today 6.7.2019 ať 13:00 we have started our tour along castles rooms. During visit this man two times accused all Polish people that they are thiefs. In his opinion all of Polish are trying to steal something from palace. Thé whole tour was in Czech language but unfortunatelly fór this racist I know czech very well. I hope that managment of thé city do not support racism in Arcibiskupský Zámek v Kroměříži. We were dissapointed that such people can work in UNESCO castle.
Beautiful and well restored. The entrance fee is not cheep but worth it.
Beautiful place with loads to offer, you can spend here the whole day, so big that you wont even notice that there are other visitors here, best thing to visit once here and for free! What top wish more
Lovely castle with a gorgeous garden, loved it
Nice and beautiful garden place with a small zoo, peacocks and rabbits walking free around. A lot of blossom trees in springtime!
Beautiful place and wonderful gardens...
All I can say is its big, historical and fancy but kids will be bored
The place its beautiful in these dates but was bad because the palace was closed
Beautiful palace, the guide was very nice and entertaining. Well worth visiting.
What an earthly delight of a garden. I wouldnt reccomend the tour that much, unless you dont have much time to spare to stroll the park.
Very nice small city with a lot of history
A beautiful place with large gardens. There are two tours plus an entrance to the tower. Gardens near the Archbishops Palace are free of charge. Peacocks and other animals roam one corner of the garden. One can see a tiny zoo as well.
Weve only visited the tower (the castle tour takes about 90 minutesand the view over Kromeriz is quite breathtaking.
An UNESCO world heritage site very off the beaten path of travel for the Czech republic. Highly recommend visiting here and Kroměříž in general for a very much less touristy experience of a beautiful place!
Beautiful palace, nice view over Kroměříž from the tower. Beautiful selection of paintings in the gallery. Flower garden is also worthwhile. All in all several good reasons to pay a visit.
Amazing place to visit - dont forget to check out gallery and both gardens.
Valuable piece of Moravian history. Great art collection. Definitely visit the caste tower
Nice but boring, the city and park is nicer
Really interesting,beautiful interiors,fantastic gallery.

Great historical place in Moravia Czech Republic. Lots to see in the Gardens and the Castle itself is wonderful. Great places to eat or just to have some coffey.
I like it. I like every castles, but after so many castles this one is not as interesting.
Quite and lovely place. Kid-friendly place where you can see the people enjoy walking with their stroller or with children. Inside, there is small zoo which made my sister (7 year-oldalmost dying. It is much larger place than expected. Saw an train cost like €7 or something. I did not try but was pretty jealous when I saw people moving around on it. Would be nice to take it, too
great building. you should not miss view from the tower, walk in large gardens and you can also visit castle inside
Very nice must seen palace
