Built on a hilltop in 1472 by the Knights of St. John, the castle's remains overlook the Aegean Sea.
Old castle but magnificent view
Amazing castle, its open inside, dont miss the entrance. To find the entrance you should go back from parking
Lovely views from top of castle but mug up on the history before you go as no information or leaflets supplied. Great cup of coffee at the little cafe and friendly server
Great castle to visit. Newish steps leads you to the entrance arch and info the ruins. Excellent views and great photo opportunities. Do visit the little shack at foot of steps for coffee/fresh juices... And Suma. Excellent value and great character.
Amazing sunrise views. An interesting visit for history enthusiasts and panorama seekers alike.
Beautiful view, no entrance fee, only a few steps to walk from parking to the castle
Nice views and cute kiosk stands on the road leading to it
Lovely scenic drive out to here, once up on the castle the view is spectacular.
Amazing view from the top. It’s a pity there are no signs with descriptions what you are looking at. The history of the castle is great but you have to google it for yourself.
Breathtaking views from the Castle.
Nice place to visit the views are great from here. It is a walk up the steps and very uneven ground but a nice place so worth going
Nice place for trip with beautifull view. Possible for kids, but not for baby stroller. Its better do boots than slippers or flip flops.
Fab views, very interesting in the old ruin style. Great little outdoor cafe/ bar to the side of the carpark which is charming and a must visit. Note the castle is not suitable for children who are not capable of control as quite dangerous for them in places.
Worth a visit if youre passing by. The best picture of the castle is probably from the carpark! A well maintained stepped path leads up to the entrance but once inside the ground is rough with very limited access.
Place where you feel like a bird
Just a ruin but not even cared as a ruin with overgrown weeds the old ticket stand full of waste like rubbish and discarded bottles of drinks. Looks like at some point the charged for entry, is entry free now the good things are the views from above the ocean also I wouldnt recommend for people with acrophobia as not much of which you can hold yourself. Overall nice views though for photos.
Great little shack at the front run by one oldish guy who appears to live there. Very cheap drinks and a very pleasant man who aims to please. Castle is free entry now but NOT suitable for kids as it has no safety features. Worth a look though as the views are TREMENDOUS!
Excellent site, worth a visit if you are driving past. The vista from the top itself is absolutely worth it!
Its a nice castle to visit. Entry is free and it gives you an amazing panorama view. Parking is possible near the castle.
Its free. Probably the most preserved ruins of castle on Rhodos, if you arent counting Grandmasters palace. However its still the view which makes the visit worth it.
Come here to see the sunset! Free entrance and enough parking spots nearby;)
Free to visit and explore with stunning views. Limited parking but people come and go quite quickly.
Good ancient castle with amazing views on the bay. Be aware about google navigation, if it leads you to the gravel and rocks road, you are going wrong way. There is normal tarmac way to the castle. We had to turn around in the middle of nowhere, because of google route.
Free enrty, no restrictions. The castle itself is partially preserved as youll note from the pictures, no shade, bring your own. Plenty of parking space. Very affordable cafe situated at the foot of the castle. Beware when using Google maps. Roads are not necessarily roads.
Nice place to see. No entrance fee. Could be nice fora sunset
Nice view from a beautiful ruin. Seems like it used to have an entrance fee, but no longer. Take care goin up to the tower, the path is hard to walk. Also because of the wind most days, the walk is not as overheating
Free Historical Experience with Stunning Views and a really cute little Cafe for refreshments afterwards, as you may get a little sweaty from the heat and the walking/climbing.Excellent Architecture and beautiful views all the way around, inland and sea.
Probably one of the best viewing spots on the island! The castle itself is largely ruined, but easy to access. I wouldnt make a special trip here, but if youre doing a road trip in this part of Rhodes, spend 20 minutes or so here enjoying the views!
Beautiful place. Amazing views and a very easy visit.
Awesome place to visit, watch your step when walking, almost fell 40 feet to the ground. Great place for picturesque views!
Great view and easy to access, not much to see in the castle but the views from it are amazing, relaxing atmosphere!
Beautiful place to enjoy the sunset! Veru cosy the cafeteria on the hill as well.Highly recommended to go when there is the medieval festival and there are plenty of activities and local dishes 🙌
Loved it here worth the visit as you can see chalki from across ! Great pictures ! Visit during sunset as it gets super hot during summer months
Nice ruins of a former castle. Once it was managed now it is abandoned and free to visit. It has excellent views especially at sunset.
Free entrance, great views from top. The place looks a bit neglected. Would be good if there is some history of that castle.
Nice castle. Short walk up to it also for very hot days, like when we were there. The view from up there is amazing
Old abandoned castle. Entrance is free but beware of the Rocky steps as there is no guard. Perfect place to watch the sunset
Beautiful castle remains. And the views! I loved it! Beware that only stairs lead up to the castle, doesnt seem wheelchair accesible. There is a little "cafe" just below the stairs across the road. Very special and beautiful place owned by friendly greek man. Delicious frappe and fresh tomato juice. Great refreshments after climbing the stairs :)
The history is hear the view also the sea really enjoy it 🙂😊😜 is small kastle near Kritinia village about 5 min by car 1 hour by foot amazing place in Rhodos Greece island
The castle locates in a remote area but if you have a car this is a must-visit. The view from the castle is nothing less than magnificent. We came in late afternoon and stayed until sunset because it was that beautiful.
A great historical visit to the very ancient kritinia castle. Great spot for great views across to smaller islands. Rested afterwards at the cafe run by a great guy. Very friendly, orange juice freshly squeezed.Good facilities.
Castle with stunning views! One of my favorites! Stairs up are well made and There is small Cafe under castle. Highly recommend.
Ok stop for an hour to explore and to see the beautiful view. Enjoy a ice-cream afterwards at the café, they have restrooms too :easy to get to, free parking just below the castle.
Another must visit if youre in the area. So beautiful but access may be awkward for anyone with limited movement. Also hold onto children as the drop is very high. Fantastic views with a peaceful atmosphere.
One of five medieval castles on Rhodes. Completely free to visit. Great view point on the western coastline. Ample free parking. Use navigation to get there as the road signs are not clear. Basically whats left of the castle are walls and some terraces with great views. Front of the castle and steps leading to the entrance are well maintained but can be a challange for people with mobilty problems. I would recommend this place for a planned photo shoot. For a casual visitor, great views and thats about it. Certainly worth visiting.
We watched the sunset here and it was so beautiful. The castle itself was very interesting. The top on the castle is really only a few stairs up from the car park and will take 5 mins without stopping. Highly recommend this.
It is worth visiting, BUT unfortunately the castle as a tourist attraction remembers better days. It is obvious that some time ago it was well looked after, but now it is basically abandoned. Still there is a nice feel about the place and magnificent views 👍🇬🇷
Fantastic 14th century castle. Well preserved and steeped in the history of the Knights of Saint John. Well worth a visit and free. Beautiful views all around and offshore to some of the smaller islands. Theres a nice looking little cafe below the castle but we didnt have time to try it.
Breath taking place.. views are amazing.. ruins are maybe not too big, but there is a lot of places you can walk, sit and relax.. and tons of beautiful pictures..There is also small shop(?Next to the free park8ng where you can drink fresh orange juice, taste local vine..One of the places that you have to be there :)
Great view, magic sunset, open 24h.Unfortunatly there are no information or hints available at the castle. We had to read afterwards, since we only found the castle by coincidence. But since entrance is free - you will loose nothing if you dont like it here. We enjoyed the short stop on our tour.
