Al-Hosn Castle is one of the most beautiful and most magnificent castles, a view built during the Crusades by the Crusaders on the top of a mountain and around the valleys, where it is difficult to reach by the enemies and is easy to defend, and it is an impregnable fortress that protects the villages and neighboring lands.It is visited by thousands of visitors annually, but unfortunately it is not given the importance it deserves in terms of maintenance and attention, and the necessary tourism promotion is not given to it.

Two castles in one. Originally was built by Richard "Lion Heart" and another been expanded later on. Ministry of Tourism is just an example of Assad Regimes Corruption. No Lighting after sunset, No proper care or public services.

Nice place to visit during summer

Secret passages and awesome walls with an incredible view makes it a formidable place you want to experince for yourself not just images from afar.

This impregnable fortress reminds us of great historical events that ended with Muslims control over it after decades of occupation by crusaders.

This place is breathtaking. Just watching from afar across the valley is stunning already. As a crusader castle, it has so much history, and you can see that through walking through each of the extensive sections - the defensive, the offensive, where soldiers slept, where things were stored and where fires were lit. It just takes you back in time. Then, of course the best part is reaching the top, and seeing breathtaking views of the valley and villages below (crazy wind though!).Thank goodness it was not too damaged from the war, but you can see the parts where restoration has occurred, or is in the process of occurring. Nonetheless, absolutely stunning.

Loved it, make sure to take drinking water.

The castle was a very nice place to visit with my family, Its safe there, I already saw 3 other families visiting it.The view on the roof of the castle is very nice, but there was strong winds.I like it, and I recommend others to visit it.Heres 3 pictures of the about panel, sadly I only took pictures of the Arabic section, because I didnt know about google Local guides back then.

Nicest place I have ever been to till date

One of the most famous and complete crusaders Citadels in the region, very interesting to visit. great nature and historical place. reaching there is not difficult. many restaurants and nice places around to visit. Patriarchal Monastery of Saint is one of the most nearby places recommended to visit.

I visited Krak de Chevaliers in late 2009. It is magnificent also a monumental crusader castle. It is devastating of the damage that the castle has sustained during the conflict as it is for all of Souriya

I visited Krak des Chevaliers in 2008, it was very well preserved then.

Once Been There Back In 2010, It Have A Great Importance To Syrias Heritage,In 2013 And Due To The War It Was Locked And Still.

Visited in 2010 before the castle was hit by shell fire. It was incredible to see the detail within the ancient architecture and our guide was very knowledgeable.

Visited in 2004. I was very impressed by how well preserved it was—not just its intactness but that the site wasnt full of brightly colored handrails and concession stands. The mood of the place is impressive to say the least.

This castle, probably best known as the Krak de Chevaliers (Castle of the Crusaders), was a highlight of my trip through Syria. Its condition is absolutely remarkable and the surrounding lookout impressive. Highly recommended.

I have been at Al-Hesn in January 2007. It is a spectacular place with very specific geographic location that uncover all the surrounding mountain area.Do not miss it with new Syria.
