Kounoyu Onsen - Public Baths in Toyooka, Japan
Outdoor onsen with forest view.
the outdoor bath has plants and garden around so its very tranquil and relaxing.
One of the best outdoors bath I been in japan
CASH ONLY - of the area Onsen, one of my favorites. Outdoor Onsen is covered by wooden gazebo but you have full view of trees and nature - very nice. Outdoor bath is shallow, no bench seat, u need to sit on bottom to cover your shoulders. Water is HOT. Indoor bath is small but sufficient. Deeper, so you can sit on bench and your shoulders will be below water line. Nice.
Good to warm your body after a long drive
Nice tattoo friendly onsen. It costs 700 yen to enter unless you have a onsen day pass. There is one indoor and one outdoor onsen, gender separated. The indoor one was a bit too hot for me, the outdoor was perfect. The place is spacious but can get easily crowded during the holidays. After the onsen, I reccomend getting a milk coffee from the vending machine and trying their massage chair. Its 100 yen for 10 minutes, it was very relaxing.
Really nice onsen but the outdoor pool are a bit small
Love this!!! Water not hot much ..outdoor so beautiful and water so good !!
Lovely place
So many onsens to choose from. Unique architecture too
Simply wonderful and the mist natural onsen around here.
Great place to relax in onsen
Indoor and outdoor steam bath
I couldn’t add the picture but this is the best public bath around this area. The view and the cleanness. Also less crowded.
Went to three baths on this trip and this was by far the most beautiful one. Inside/outside bath experience where you sit in a soaking pool that is made from rocks. The females side also has a canopy to keep you partially covered in the rain. Clean bath but it is a pretty long walk from the center of town.
Out of the 7 onsens you can visit with the Ryokan pass, this one was my favorite. Its definitely smaller than the others, but the outdoors is decorated as a japanese garden, which is a delight on an autumn-ish sunny afternoon
This is towards the end of the town. Once entering, the lady staff is very friendly. For tourists:1. Remember to buy a towel for JPY 150. It’s very small. Better to bring your own.2. Once you keep your shoes in the cabinet, proceed to the onsen, men right, women left.3. Once inside, keep cloths in locker and go into onsen in your bathing suite!4. The outdoor is facing the mountain side and it’s very new and clean. Even though it’s not too big, it’s enough for 3 pax. If too crowded, go inside the indoor pool first.
Very nice outdoor onsen to go with an adequate indoor onsen. We were there off season so no crowds. The front desk clerk was kind of grumpy. Kinosaki seems to have very gregarious and outgoing service workers compared to most of Japan, so it was strange to run into a frown.
Very good experience, staff helpful.
Pretty but small outdoor hot spring, beware if you are not of Japanese, Chinese or Caucasian descent, people will openly glare.
Somptuous outside bath for this onsen, one of the most beautiful in Kinosaki.
Really clean and spacious. I like the outdoor pool and the temperature. The people at the front desk are really polite. The smell of the place is also clean. The pool inside is also clean. The lockers are also new and clean. The whole area outside also has security and nice oarking area.
Nicely place
Simple yet nice onsen, among others.
the farthest hot spring, near mountain, not easily found at the main road, hide behind of car park. name translate is bird hot spring, legend said people found that a injured bird cure itself after taking bath at the hot spring. famous for the japanese garden design outdoor pool。
One of the best and oldest onsen in kinosaki
Old onsen, less people, very nice outdoor onsen viewing the forest. Loved it.
Bit far from a station. The onsen was nice have two areas indoor and outdoor. The outdoor was nice but small bath and also have a sauna room in between
No special.
Located about 15 minutes from the station. Oldest onsen in the area. Lovely garden and some of the warmest water. Great onsen.
Less people because it’s in the end of stree. Very clean. The water temperature just fine. I feel relax in here
Pretty small but cozy
Wow is all I can say, its a fantastic place. Quaint and very cosy. I love this place.
Less tourists cause its further away - big plus! Onsen has both inside and outside pools and the outside one is of a much more comfortable temperature. Outside pool located in a tiny garden
Lovely onsen. Cozy and tourists friendly
One of the furthest away from the Kinosaki Onsen station and the main thoroughfares but probably works in its favor as it is less crowded. It is also one of the oldest onsen in town. (Old as long establishedLike all other public onsen, super clean! You get a free entrance pass with a local hotel booking. There are 2 pool in the men area with 1 indoor and 1 outdoor.
The onsen is quite far from most of ryokans. There are 2 baths, one indoor and one outdoor. The indoor bath is large and no concern when it gets crowded, you will still have your space. The outdoor one is less warm and smaller but the view is impressive in daytime. You can see the trees of the mountain and appreciate the nature.
The furthest onsen from the train station. Loved the outdoor pool.
Around 25 mins walk from JR station and with small outdoor hot spring.
Relatively smaller onsen but with a beautiful outdoor section.
The farest onsen in the town. But worth to visit and try.
Cleaner than Gosho hotspring. Drinking water is available at this facility also. The outdoor hotspring looks better than Gosho hotspring as well. Please be reminded that a small bath towel is required to get in the hotspring area. Bath towel is not provided at any of the hotspring facility. If you don’t have it, you can buy one from the venting machine in the hotspring facility. It costs ¥150 for a small bathing towel.
Small and simple. But for me the rotenburo had just the right combination of tranquility, cascading autumn leaves, and perfect water temperature. Located a bit on the outskirts of the town. So, not entirely convenient, especially if you’re walking in geta.
Lovely and chill. Nice outdoor bath in the sun.
Part of this onsen was open-air so that was nice. A little far to walk, oh well.
Much quieter than the main onsen in town. Older age group which makes for a more relaxing time. Inside onsen very hot, outside onsen cooler.
Nice onsen
