The condition of Klang River near Central Market (Pasar Senilooks so much better compared to 2 decades ago.

The muddy Klang river is commonly known among locals for its water pollution. Several times a year, during the rainy seasons, you can see floating waste and garbage flowing in the river. Unfortunately society has yet to act responsibly to protect Malaysias many rivers.

It is so long but very dirty,

Only cleaned water between connought bridge till Klang town.

I hope the local and governmental authority may increase awareness of keeping rivers clean. Many of us are still in bleak of how devastating the condition of Klang river is.

A good place for a tour walk in the early morning or late afternoon.

One of the main river in the city. Some people thought it would be just a normal drain but in fact this is considered one of the biggest and longest river in Malaysia. The bad thing about the river is that it connects to most part of the city and when it pours heavily there will be trashed that washed into the river making it one of the dirtiest river in the world.There are many initiatives that is helping to clean this river but the cost involve is also not too cheap. You can only hope people stop throwing things all over especially many foreign workers now in the city.

The Klang river, a watery serpentine across the heart of Kuala Lumpur and the west coast of the state of Selangor, has long been a local landmark for many, as people do recognise it easily in any cases where they overlook a river around the region mentioned. Back then, the River was a busy waterway, very much due to its wide access of flow to various hotspots nearby, all the way from Klang, one of the most hustling ports in the country, to Kuala Lumpur, the ever bustling capital of the nation. As time passes by, it has become a lot more quieter now, and it pretty much serves as a natural reservoir (during times of contingency, especiallyand as it was stated earlier, a mere landmark for people to know that they are here in the Klang Valley. However, though, at some parts of the river there, for the most of the time, floats wastes of which were uncared for by the perpetrators, which do cause an obvious nuisance in the eyes of the public. On top of that, additional efforts have been made by the local authorities to clean up the River, furthermore decreasing the severity of the issue concerned. All in all, the Klang river has long been an important natural amenity for the locals, and it definitely will continue to serve this purpose, given there are no further pollution and constant maintenance are to be made on the River.

It was a good experience to learn and see the origins of Kuala Lumpur.

Cleaner than before

The river where it all began for many towns and cities along it. Most notably Kuala Lumpur and her lesser know sibling the Royal Town of Klang which is the port of the country.Over the years due to sheer neglect and sheer blindness, the river has become polluted, with sludge, rubbish and sewage dumped into this mighty river.

If its cleaner...it could have been a good place to hang out..

Never ending remedial works on the river for the last 40 years. Somebody must be making a lot of money. The water is dirty and filthy. See for yourself.

One of the most polluted river ever that despite the cleansing of the river in Kuala Lumpur as part of River of Life, outside of Kuala Lumpur area the river is seriously dirty that many residents dump the rubbish into the river, usually nearby the village or cheap residential area as well as industrial area, not safe for fishing or swimming here.
