Korean BBQ and Vegan Restaurant in Hamhŭng

I enjoyed eating here the first time. After that all the food was lacking flavour. The chicken was not coated fully with the flavour.

I have only ever ordered takeout from here, so I can’t comment on the place itself. However the food is amazing, the service is fast & the portion sizes are great.

Massively disappointing, from the review and photos we were expecting a small, modern Korean restaurant but when we arrived it was a few empty chairs with half of the menu online and no barbeque or toilets. Food was bang average, even for a takeaway. Very strange experience.

First time trying this place just by Whitechapel, friendly staff and very quick service. The menu is loaded with a wide range of options. The food didnt lack any faults with the taste being overwhelming and meeting my expectations of a Korean BBQ. Not many places like this, people should try range out of the usual cuisines as theyll not regret a meal from places like this! Would recommend.

Im South Korean and I had sweet spicy korean chicken. Unfortunately, it doesnt taste like feel at home. I cant find sweetness from this source. I think its British style korean chicken. If you are not desperately looking for KOREAN chicken, its a good option. Im curious about other flavours so maybe I will try again soon.

A hidden gem. Food and service were both great. It is a small restaurant and fills up fast so be sure to book. The kimchi pancake was excellent. Good quality meet and the banchan sides were also really good. I will return soon!

Really good food. Quality Korean style food and tasty as well. One disappointment they ran out of the Korean fried wings. Maybe to keep more stock but will go back to taste other dishes. Highly recommended. Plus all being halal for Korean is rare.

Great halal dishes, we have been there twice already, and those will be the first of many. Our favourite is the Honey Butter Fried Chicken. So so good!The waitress is kind and lovely, the service is quick, and the area clean. My only problem is the size of the eating area, but its comfortable enough and makes it cozy.Also I wish the seafood pancakes quality and taste was consistent. The first time we had it, it was excellent!

Quite pricey however the portions were okay. The staff were really sweet and costumer service was great. The meat in the Jigae didn’t seem fresh and there was barely any meat. The seasoning didn’t taste like the authentic korean restaurants I’ve been to before. Wouldn’t go again but wouldn’t say it is the worst.

Best Korean in London. Their Korean beef soup as well the fried chicken are delicious. They make their own kimchi and the staff are fantastic. We’ve been eating there regularly for the past 2 years, and not on eve they let us down.

The food was brilliant, super fresh and felt authentic. Every item my friends and I ordered, we enjoyed. Plus it was affordable.I was sort of expecting Korean-style grills at the tables given the name of the restaurant being "Korean BBQ" but they didnt have those.This place is quite small but not busy. The interior isnt really "aesthetic" or anything so really you should go for the food!The only actual bad thing was the staff. There was only one server, and she wasnt friendly at all. Didnt say hi, barely spoke, seemed to avoid us the entire time even though we were the only customers there! It actually made us a little uncomfortable.

Great service and the food was pretty gd and it is 100% halal which Im very great full about. However the place needs a renovation.Edit: unlike the name suggests "korean BBQ" spoiler, there is no actual BBQ. You only have some traditional korean food but thats about it. I would like their name to be changed or the resturant to be changed completely.

Friendly service. Not the biggest fan of bibimbap. The beef in the bibimbap was plain.The Korean Fried Chicken was nice, tasted succulent.Also got ribs which were decent. Overall, not the best bibimbap Ive tasted. Tasted better at Zaxx.

Staff were really helpful and friendly. Went hoping to try a few vegan dishes but sadly they had run out of tofu on the day which is in a majority of their dishes. Small restaurant, gave me seaside cafe vibes with the addition of KPop. Had a good time!

Food is good here.. bot the best Ive had but their KFC is amazing. However their delievery was dreadful. Had me waiting over and hour when they are only based 5mins away from me. Also I do feel they are a little expensive for but anyways Im happy they have a halal korean place near by.

This place is 100% halal, the foods taste amazing, korean food is on another level! They also have a very good vegan range.Only downside is there are no toilets.

I’ve been here before and it was great but I guess I didn’t have the best experience in what I chose. I ordered seafood udon before and had no problem with it but this this around I noticed mini octopuses which really freaked me out as well as the company around me. I asked if I can have it removed and the waitress kindly did so for me so the two points are for customer service but there was still quite a lot hidden within it. It was very disturbing for me to put them aside and I ended up put off by the whole thing and didn’t choose to eat it. I propose that in the menus it should have a description follow so people can know exactly what is consisted in the seafood selection. I’m quite okay with seafood but really didn’t expect to see so many baby octupus.

Ordered home! We got Korean fried chicken with sweet chilli sauce and tteokbokki!! Soo delicious and I feel like the portions were quite a good size compared to the prices :). I will definitely be ordering from here again!

Horrible place, food tasted horrible. The server wasnt bothered to serve us properly even though we were the only ones there (group of 4no effort was shown, no attention. All four of us ordered however only 3 got the food. When I asked about my order the server replied I didnt order anything and lied to my face. I didnt eat there. It put me off. I tasted my friends seafood noodles and it was disgusting. The broth was overpowering with a very strong fishy smell. The fish was disgustingly strong and smelly.

Halal Korean Food😍I have been to this restaurant several times and the food is always great 👍🏽. The food tastes authentic and full of flavour. The staff are friendly and efficient. The bibimbap is such a comfort food and I always find myself craving and the KFC is bursting with flavour, rich sauce and generous portions. I have not given 5 stars because the restaurant is rather small and does tend to get busy.

This place was definitely a hidden gem. Dont let the looks of the place put you off, the food is a must try and honestly just speaks for itself. I ordered Korean Fried Chicken as a starter and Bul Dak Chicken with extra rice. The portions were filling for 2 people and reasonably priced. Will definitely visit again!!

Delicious and authentic Korean food that has the added bonus of being halal. My wife and I have eaten Korean food all over London and the food here was tasty. Our kids enjoyed the rice and beef too. Hidden gem in London!

Outstanding food. Much better than places that charge double the price. The food is served excellently hot, high quality with outstanding taste. Some of the best Korean food Ive ever eaten.However Im really sad to see the new menu thats launching in 4 days has less vegetarian & vegan options. Cant believe aubergine is being taken off the menu! This will likely drop the above rating.

As others have mentioned the place doesnt look great but thats not the main point- the food is overpriced for what you get. £6-7 for 5 mandu which doesnt look handmade but from a frozen packet is expensive and the portion of tteokbokki for the price (again £7 or sois overpriced. The flavour was nothing exceptional. I would recommend walking towards Aldgate and you can find better Korean options there.

We dined as a group of four. It cost us roughly £64. Overall this was an OK place. Decided on visiting here as it was halal and we were dining with a friend who required this. They also do a vegan Korean menu which is a nice bonus. (at least one a4 page)Honestly was expecting more considering it had 4.5 stars at time of visit. Seems like they need to update their menu as multiple items I tried ordering they did not have such as the doenjang soup, and the response from the waitress was that they had changed their menu.(how recently Im not sure). I think blocking the options would be useful. Or maybe I have bad luck!Customer service was fine. The lady was friendly when spoken to. However food service was rather slow. We were the only ones in the restaurant when we were seated at around 6.25pm and ordered around 6.35pm. Served the first bits of food in 30 or so minutes and the rest of the food came 15mins later. Friend sat waiting for our food to come to eat together which was a shame.We had some issues with the food. For starters/sharers we ordered the tteokbokki (spicy rice caketo share. The rice cake was overcooked and the sauce was orange and sweet. Not spicy at all. Also had carrots and onions in it extra which was a surprise to us. (see photoweve had tteokbokki in Seoul before so were not sure why this was so... Orange. Usually it is red and spicy?Another issue we found was that food inconsistent. Me and my friend ordered the same soup (yakhoe jangspicy beef stew, (not spicy againyet one was less than the other and also a different colour. (see photo). Kimchi in my opinion was not worth £3 and was very bitter.However, portion sizes for everything we ordered were good! the Korean fried chicken portions were good, as were the rices on the side and the japchae and the stew overall. Presentation overall was good. We were given extra plates and all cutlery options which was nice.Important note is that they do not have toilets for customers. A4 sign on the wall. Whether this is temporary or if they are jsut out of order Im not sure!

The place looks basic from the outside but the food is fantastic. The Korean chicken is really nice and the Korean Hot Pot soup was very tasty, good value also a very wide vegan menu

I was looking for some early dinner before checking out the cinema down the road and I saw the vegan sign and thought “why not”.It looks terrible inside and outside isn’t great very basic and you have to use the toilets in the pub next door. DO NOT LET THAT PUT YOU OFF!!The food was incredible, really tasty, generous portions and served in traditional heated pots. The no thrills attitude is basically a swagger because the food speaks for itself and the price is very fair.

Do not be fooled by the appearance of this place. The food is absolutely amazing and for vegans there is a whole page of options from noodle dishes to soups and tempura appetizers. I had the bibimbap with fried tofu it was unreal, my girlfriend ordered the silky tofu hot soup and it was amazing with the fried rice that came with the bibimbap. Starters and two mains was 25 quid, I would highly recommend this place to any lover of Korean food.

I unfortunately can never wait long enough for all the food to arrive to take pictures before I start eating. This place is an absolute must visit for vegans who wish to try out korean food (my meals were not vegan, I was after the halal meat), as they have a large vegan menu and all the sauces are made by them so they can assure that it’s 100% vegan. It’s a nice little place with great service. My only con would be the music 😂 even as a massive fan of BTS, I would love to hear some diversity- perhaps next time I visit I’ll drop by with a suggested playlist

small place but very delicious food

Fifteen vegan dishes, all delicious. I had a lovely hot bibimbap with a generous serving of gochujang sauce for a very reasonable price. Also one member of staff was particularly kind to my dad who was struggling to read the menu, having just had pupil-dilating eye-drops put in.

Doesn’t look like much from the exterior or interior, but don’t be fooled. The food here is incredible and the staff are wonderful; service was quick too. So happy they have an authentic and extensive vegan menu. Best Korean we’ve had. Can’t wait to return.

Extremely slow service!!! An entire hour passed after we ordered and all that was served was a kimchi pancake starter. Very very disappointing!!!I actually liked the food here. I would have given 4 or 5 stars for the food. But 2 stars for the overall experience.I would not return!!!

Great small and cosy restaurant. Offering Vegan Asian dishes and also chicken, seafood, meat Asian dishes. Great options for everyone. The Korean Bibimbap here is one of the best I have had in London. The prices can vary from a £2 Baum (Riceto £15 big hot pot Korean style soup.It gets busy and expect to wait some minutes until you get a seat. Patience is perfect.

The portions were generous. The flavours perhaps something my pallet will need to adapt to.

Hello. I am definitely not mistaken. Yes i did 13 reviews in an hour because this was the only time I could sit and write reviews. I didnt enjoy the experience because the tables werent clean..when we asked if we could move to another table we were told no. Now i dont know if the lady understood us or not but we just let it be. The main thing the food. I gave one star purely because the noodle was okay. The rest of the food ordered werent. The kimchi pancake doesnt taste like kimchi..it had a taste that I did not like. Anyway overall tbh i wouldnt revisit.

Looks can be deceiving. Delicious food. Fried chicken is delicious And crispy. Service was amazing. Not given 5 stars as no toliet.... But nip next door to the pub. Its dead quick.

First time at this place,although wanting for a while. 5 tables in all and can get pretty packed. Menu has mostly vegan selection, and also a good selection of meat dishes.The food was very tasty and i think we did well as novices to select well, Two main dishes with two rice. One spinach (Coldand a mix seafood noodle. All in all it was filling, although for the location i felt a bit pricey.Basic decor and furnishings. No toilet and staff direct you to a PUB!!! Not the ideal HALAL experience with family. Waitress was on her own and so the food was delayed, not that we minded. Meal for 2 cost near to £40.

ANNYEONGHASEYO. The food was mouth wateringly delicious and dazzling. I ordered Kimchi, Miso Soup, Bulgogi, Toppokki (Spicy Rice Cakes+added fishcakesand Bibimbap. These dishes are popular in South Korea and due to the high popularity I decided to order these. The Kimchi (fermented Lettuce or Cabbage, I think 🤔, Kimchi can also be radishwas salty and also there was a hint of spice 🌶, this tasted delicious with the Bibimbap. The Bulgogi was pieces of juicy, chewy, slightly sweet but sizzling meat grilled and served with glass noodles and veg. This melted in my mouth as I chewed, and the flavours reached all the nooks crannies of my tongue. Ahhh... the Spicy Rice Cakes, I urge for this again, I rated this 10/10. This dish is definitely spicy but it is also sweet, the underlying sweetness overpowers the Spicy Gochujang sauce. The Fish Cakes were hidden underneath like treasure, the whole dish was like a gold found treasure. The Fish Cakes were cooked to perfection, and it was drenched in this spicy, hot, beautiful, DELICIOUS sauce. This was no.1 out of all dishes eaten. This Miso Soup was nice with a pot of rice, I preferred it with the rice rather than with the soup itself just because you can digest better. (Bruhh if any Bengalis go, yall this tastes like Hutki Shira (fermented fish that smells disgusting but tastes bangingfam). Ahhhhh BIBIMBAP... (chicken pieces, veg such as carrots, onions, and cucmber sliced, thin noodles, rice and a yellow sun like yolk sitting on topthis was beyond delicious, it was like delicious 100% and added 1000% because of the raw egg yolk which might taste like nothing when mixed together but my taste buds was in the feels when eating this. The chicken pieces and the veg was the extra 1% top with the rice. All in all, I definitely recommend this restaurant as it is halal, and serve Korean food for affordable prices, if yall get time please visit. Excellent service and for KPOP lovers, they got BTS playlists 🤪, just kidding but actually visit though. I recommend this to all people who are interested in Korean cuisine and need to find a local restaurant. Next time Ill order KFC (no not KFC KFC as in big crispy chicken with little wallets of chips, no KFC as in Korean Fried Chicken).

I was pleasantly surprised by this place. Initially didn’t expect too much but the food was good. The kimchi fried rice was very tasty and quite authentic. There could have been more kimchi in it though.The crispy vegan tofu was great, however with only 5 pieces of tofu the price of 8.95 is too expensive. The veggies that came with it underneath did not look very fresh and it was only onions and sprouts. Would not order this dish again.Service was friendly.

Couldnt recommend this place enough, great choice of vegan items. Such great flavours. I only wish they had more stores across London! I will definitely be coming back.

I can confirm that it looks very run down but the quality of the food produced in that kitchen is outstanding and the servers are hospitable and attentive.I wouldve given 5* except for the Kalbi I ordered being less chewy, however the flavour was 10/10.

At first glance, the restaurant doesnt look too appealing: a small place at the end of the road. But looks are deceiving. Great customer service, reasonably price and most importantly great tasting food makes this place a great spot for anyone looking for something from the Far East. Tip: Korean is the best fried chicken. 😝

A tiny place with great food, and decent prices. Although I wish they wouldnt say everything is gluten free when its marinated in soy sauce. I ended up only being able to get one thing from the whole menu, and it tasted mostly like plain overcooked rice with a few vegetables 😪

First time eating at this place. I was pleasantly surprised with how amazing the food tasted. We ordered quite a lot of food o thought we would not be able to finish but we did because it was so good. The kimchi tasted really good (just needed little more fermentingas well as the korean fried chicken, teobboki. Will go there again.
