Humble but comfortable venue serves up generous portions of Korean classics, including bulgogi.
Korea House Restaurant in Bay Point
Description
Privilege
They say this place is a humble restaurant and how right they are! I love the atmosphere and the dutiful workers who make this place what it is. I greatly enjoyed the food it was crisp & fresh! A fine culinary experience in an area with a great selection of delicious and fine competition.I’ve brought friends out here and we’ve not yet been disappointed. I love and highly recommend the Jjolmyeon: spicy, chewy, and oh so very satisfying!
MoreThe beef tofu soup here brings my attention to the present moment. Great food at reasonable price.
MoreHad a lunch special of Short Ribs..This is a great Dish..always consistently good and Great portions
MoreLove the bonchon here!!.. they even have pajun and japchae as part of their little dishes. The food is really great here. Its a tad on the salty side, but we didnt mind since Korean food in general tends to be a bit bland (i.e., rice, tofu, veggies, or load on spicy). We all got the different kinds of tofu soups and the bim bim baps. The seafood (hotbimbap was my favorite.
MoreI have been going to this place for years. Usually with a party of 10 or more. The service is always great as well as the food.
MoreSpeaking from an Asian-American household this is our familys favorite Korean restaurant in the East Bay! Friendly and helpful staff, perfect selection of Korean dishes and complimentary side dishes, and super clean restaurant! Love it and cant wait to go back!
MoreI was good, the meat was really tasty
Great food, my fave Korean place in concord ca
This place is very yummy. The service is great. Definitely a place to go if you want a casual place with great korean food. Check it out yall 💯
MoreLove those small dishes, and they were very nice very quick as well. They serve one set of dishes for any number of orders, so we felt not having enough fish cake when our family had dinner here. Otherwise, pretty good. Based on Google maps, I have been here for 4 times already.
MoreGood service, food served quickly and generous portions. Spicy pork was our favorite!
MoreThe servers were nice and the banchan were good. To be honest though, the bulgogi was dry, disappointing, and overpriced for the quality.
MoreSolid portion sizes (for big eaters itll be filling; for everyone else a single lunch special is enough for two meals). The beef they use in the beef bulgogi is noticeably better in quality, which was a pleasant surprise. As for spice levels, the bbq pork is the right amount of spicy on its own but would be a bit much for lightweights. The spicy option adds lots of gochujang mixed with jalapeños, which should bring the spice level up to par for folks who like the heat.
MoreNot impressed. Went there today only because Kevins Pho Noodles was closed for Chinese New Year. The wait staff - 3 Korean women have never seen humans before. The 4 of us stood at the door for 5+ minutes, smiled, waved, tiptoed - no reaction. There were two 4-seat tables available. There was a party of seven before us; they said theyd been waiting for a while to be seated. Finally one waitress came close enough for me to sound out "can we get a table for four, please?" She stared at me, then at the two empty tables, stood there completely mute, no reaction (Kim Jon Un, take note: Invade S. Korea anytime - they wont notice🤣). She looked at me, then the tables...again. I said "can we have one of the tables?" After more blank stares, some older waitress yells something in Korean, then she motions to me and nods.FOOD - I ordered the Bi Bim Bap (Korean national dish probably). It was a large bowl of rice, a couple of thinly sliced meat, some shredded veggies, a tiny fried egg. It was dry and tastless. I emptied 1/8 bottle of sriracha on it so I could pretend it was edible. Not worth $13 + tax. Oh...the party of seven left before being seated - the nerve of some people! Been there once, 15 years ago. I couldnt remember why I never came back, until today!
MoreI love this place. Portions are great and the service is excellent. My boyfriend came with me for his visit about a week ago and was happily surprised that the small restaurant put out such good food - he lived in Korea when he was in the military.I ordered seafood stew, which was served boiling hot with an egg cooked on top, and he had spicy pork, plus an appetizer between us, and a large number of banchan dishes. Needless to say we left stuffed, and the carry-out container I brought was full of rice and food as well. Service couldnt have been better either.
MoreI like to go with friends to this restaurant with my highest recommendations. I go their often. This recommendation is always successful. The dishes they serve are fantastic and the stuff is attentive and cooperative. Whenever we visit this place we have a pleasant time. I recommend this place with pleasure.
MoreI love going to Korea house any opportunity possible. Super tasty dishes with plenty to choose from. So many starting dishes and if you enjoy Korean food this is definitely worth a try. The Kalbi is my go-to, but their fish and noodles are great as well. Friendly service and fun to go with groups. Can’t recommend this place enough!
MoreFood quality is excellent, and the portions are quite generous. Besides the main entree, you are provided with several side dishes that are well prepared. I couldve had just the rice with those side dishes for a good meal even without the entree.
MoreNot sure if it improved since the last time I went, but the food was not as good as some other Korean restaurants around the area and oh my god...like...I really dont like judging service at places, but especially when I pay tips I then judge and some of the people here are kinda rude and neglectful. I know there are a good number of non-Korean people here, and you can judge see some of the agressiveness from some of the servers.
MoreRecently began to try Korean BBQ. This place is very good. Good service. We usually go to one where we must cook the meat, etc.Food is very good.
MoreGreat lunch spot with full house crowd all the time for their fully loaded lunch spl that will satisfy both your taste and stomach without bleeding cash. No wonder its been around forever and still packed like the first day opener. Quick services too at a great location.
MoreIve eaten at this Korean Restaurant quite a number of times and the food and drink never disappoints. I had the Bul Go Gi with a bottle of Hite. Delicious and satiating meal. Highly recommend.
MoreGood value at lunch. Love the side dishes!
absolutely recommended!!! mostly for dae ji bulgogi ~ my favorite!!! they provide the banchan a bit different between day and night. at night you can get anchovies which is so good. can eat it just with hot steamed rice. the jab chae is also good. the pa jun is worth to try. overall, recommended for korean foods...
MoreGreat bulgogi and spicy pork! Ill have to go back and try the Kalbi. I went there on a whim while out in Concord. Their meat had really good flavor and the lunch comes with some side dishes and a salad. This place is pricey, thus the one star off. I didnt expect to pay $32 for two lunches. If you do go here, just know that its worth it.
MoreWe love the Ka lbi short ribs here- always served sizzling hot with lots of sides- tasty! The chicken and spicy pork Korean bar-b-que entrees are delicious, also. This last time, we tried a seafood soup- was served piping hot and was enjoyable, but could barely "count" the seafood in the claypot (stated "oyster" but received one mussel; the one shrimp was very small with its head attached; one clam). Whenever we dont feel like cooking, we know that a good meal is guaranteed at Korea House.
MoreOne of my favorite locations in Concord for some good old fashion tasty Korean bbq! The service is fast and friendly. The food is always consistently tasty and never disappointing. You always leave feeling completely satisfied. Strongly recommend this spot!
MoreI MUST SAY THIS IS THE BEST KOREAN FOOD AROUND CONCORDSUCH AN AMAZING PLACE WITH LOTS TO CHOOSE FROM IN A VERY AFFORDABLE PRICESO TASTY AND DELICIOUSYOU GOT TO COME HERE
MoreOn 4/11/19, I paid for my meal with my credit card and left a dollar amount tip on the table. When I looked at the pending amount on my online bank the correct amount showed. When the final amount posted on Monday, someone processed an additional amount of $5.00 to the total (most likely added a $5.00 tip). The bank suggested I talk to the restaurant. When I called to try to discuss the bill they said the manager was not there and hung up on me. So I called back and to left a message with an explanation to call me. No one returned my call. Luckily, the bank did adjust my bill and reimbursed me the $5.00.
MoreI hesitated writing a review for this place because I wanted it to work out, but this is second time I come in and their customer service is poor. I do not feel welcome here for some reason and I don’t really want to think it’s because of my race because that would be absurd since I’m Latino and this place is in California. But okay. My two times here I’ve requested to eat in and they always give me to go boxes and the last time, I ordered a soda loud and clear and when I went to grab it they treated me like a thief. Like come on anyway get your kbbq elsewhere. 👎👎👎👎👎
MoreTheir lunch specials are a very good deal.
It was my first time to this Restaurant and I left highly satisfied- I was greeted upon entry and seated right away. The lady who had helped me was patient in awaiting my order; the Kimchi Fried Rice and Egg was delicious! I have been to other places where the Fried Rice would be mush, but not here~I look forward to eating more in the Future~
MoreWhen we are craving Korean food, this is the place to go. The food is very good, a little pricey, but I think its worth it. The staff is very friendly and the place is clean. Weve visited a few times already and would definitely go back of course.
MoreThis place serves delicious Korean lunch specials that anyone can enjoy; items are reasonably priced. There waitstaff are attentive, too.
MoreEven during the lunch rush; service is attentive and incredible, the food is delicious, and theres an overall feeling that youre getting way more than you paid for. 10/10 would recommend
MoreKimchi Jiigaae Stew was terrible and so was the Kimchi. No flavor at all! We eat lots of Korean food and this place is more of a fast food style place, not a restaurant. The food was not good at all, except for some of the sides served. Service was ok. If you dont know what Korean foods are supposed to taste like, then maybe this place will work. Otherwise your wasting your money!
MoreSo glad we visited Korea House for lunch, they were busy but the food came quickly! The lunch special was so yummy and full of variety, we didnt expect so many sides (rice, soup, noodles, sprouts, tempura veggies, salad, kimchi, pickled cucumber, and fish cake - ALL delicious). We had the short ribs and bulgogi, both tasted fantastic and fresh. Definitely coming back for lunch again soon.
MoreThe food was delicious. We got rice cake soup with the fried squid as appetizer. The soup was flavorful thou I added sriracha. We were given lots of side dishes with 2 free refills! We ate everything and were very full by the end. It was well worth the price even if it is a bit expensive.
MoreCourteous service. However, sometimes you may run into a staff who doesnt speak much English, which makes communication difficult. Bulgogi is always my favorite. The Daegi could be better. Prices are reasonable.
MoreOf the Korean restaurants in the area Korea House is the one we prefer the most. I was stationed in Korea for three years and loved the food there. I traveled all over the country and ate at many reataurants and homes. Korea House comes closest to the quality and flavor of food I had in Korea. The other restaurants in the area do not provide the same number of side dishes or the quantity in each dish. One of the ways you can tell a good ethnic restaurant is if you see people of the whose heritage match the ethnicity of the restaurant dining in the restaurant and Korea House has this hands down. The restaurant starts getting busy around 5:30 - 6:00pm. If you arrive earlier you want have a problem finding a table. After 5:30 pm expect to see a line out the door. The food is that good!!! Enjoy!!!
MoreThis place is consistently been very good. The biggest downside has been the bit over the last year too theyve raised their prices by about 20%. It makes it very hard to make this a common lunch place with how much they charge. Ive had to cut back on coming here unfortunately.
MoreBu Golgi was good. Fast and friendly service. Place was clean and food was good. Soup served nice and hot. Serving sizes large enough to share between a group of people. 5/5
MoreI think this place has potential but I wouldnt consider this my favorite. The people here are bit stiff (maybe thats just their personalitybut their tofu soup lacks an identity and no real taste besides hot chili powder. The Kimchee appeared it wasnt cured enough and their tofu skin was slimy. Their fried pot stickers was nothing special and could have used a few minutes on a napkin to soak up the oil. Their Jap Chae is on par with others.
MoreSmall portions and pricy. However the food was really good. Just be prepared to pay $40 for two people and be hungry two hours later. They were a little stingy with rice and samples.
MoreI love this place! This food is more of a working mans Korean. The Dolsot Bibimbop is great! Make sure to mix in some lunch I, and red pepper paste!
MoreExquisite food, never disappointing. Great location and beautiful venue. Professional staff extremely knowledgeable about their menu and wines. One of Clevelands finest fusion restaurants. Reservation recommended prior visit, especially during the weekend.
MoreI need to start off by mentioning that I do not know a lot about Korean cuisine. We also ended up at this restaurant because the first 2 we tried had 45-90 minutes wait times, and were more of a destination for a Saturday night out. This place had plenty of seating available at 8pm in Park n Shop and was definitely casual, family dining. I ordered the Dolsot Bibm Bap, and my boyfriend ordered the Bul Gogi. The Dolsot was so f-ing hot for the first 20 minutes I could not eat it! Also, metal chop sticks are heat conductors with burning hot serve ware. Stupid and dangerous. I munched on all of the condiments that came with the Bul Gogi while I waited for mine to cool. The glass noodles were tasty, the red pasty stuff was really sweet and yummy. I tried the white, jello-cube looking things but not sure how that should be incorporated into a dish. Oh well. When I could finally eat my Dolsot Bibm Bap the rice was nice and crispy at the bottom, and the whole thing was delicious. I added the kimchi and red pasty stuff. I will definitely eat here again when I am hungry and impatient.
MoreFood is okay, not great. Service need some work. Lunch special is good value but dinner not so much. The place has changed owners at least twice in the last 10 years and sad to say the current operator isnt as good as the previous owners.
MoreThe food is really good and big portions. We always end up ordering so much. I love their kimchi fried rice.
MoreExtremely good food. Huge portions. The ladies here are all very nice. This was the first place that my husband and I ate at after moving to the city. They made us feel right at home and comfortable in their shop. And everything was sooo tasty! We will be coming back here a lot.
