Mast jagah hai picnic jaane ke lye.Family picnic jaa sakte hai yaha par.Konar dam is the second of the four multi-purpose dams included in the first phase of the Damodar Valley Corporation. It was constructed across the Konar River, a tributary of the Damodar River in Hazaribagh district in the Indian state of Jharkhand and opened in 1955.[1] The place has scenic beauty and has been developed as a recreational spot.[2]As a result of the catastrophic flood of 1943, the Governor of Bengal appointed the Damodar Flood enquiry committee to suggest remedial measures. It suggested the creation of an authority similar to that of the Tennessee Valley Authority in the United States. W.L. Voorduin, senior engineer of TVA, prepared a preliminary report wherein he submitted an outline of a plan designed for achieving flood control, irrigation, power generation and navigation. As a result, Damodar Valley Corporation came into existence in 1948 for development and management of the basin as a whole. Voorduin envisaged the construction of eight dams and a barrage, but it was later decided to have only four dams, at Tilaiya, Konar, Maithon and Panchet, and Durgapur Barrage.[4]The first dam was built across the Barakar River at Tilaiya and inaugurated in 1953. The second dam across the Konar River was inaugurated in 1955. The third dam across the Barakar at Maithon was inaugurated in 1957. The fourth dam across the Damodar at Panchet was inaugurated in 1959.[5

It was very nice experience to visit Konar Dam today.

Beautiful place to visit with family and friends to spend leisure time. It is one of biggest dam in Jharkhand. This is based on Konar River , subsidiary of Damodar river. The water of this dam is clear, clean and hygienic and are supplied to nearby places . The main beauty of this place is that there is forest one side and water other side of the road. If you take click using drone camera , you will get it to see the view. Overall I enjoyed visiting this amazing place. I will recommend you people to visit once.

The dam is beautiful.... The view from the dam is nice looking over the dense forests and the river... There are steps to go down and touch the water... There is no boating facility or restaurants nearby... The dam is well maintained and mostly clean... Nice place to visit for having some fresh air ... you can enjoy with your friends and family...one day tour is recommended!

I liked this place as a tourist spot and picnic spot. A long streched road and a very nice view from the dam side. One side of the road has a blue water touching the sky and on the other side it has nice view with maintained Jungle.You will love the boat ride here along with family and friends at the end of the dam. During the boat ride in winter season you can see some migratory birds.

This place is so beautiful that one doesnt really wanna miss to visit and enjoy the scenery especially morning sunshine and sunset.
