Kombu Ramen Shop - Asian restaurant in Antigua Guatemala, Guatemala
Absolutely delicious ramen! Funky fit out. The staff were incredibly kind and helpful as well.
One of the best meals ever and hate that I can’t eat here again after returning to USA. Wouldn’t even know how to duplicate meal or drinks. Hope to eat there at least once more before leaving in 2 days
Pretty good for ramen in Guatemala. The broth, Cha siu and egg was delicious. The noodles was decent, I prefer a more soft chewy noodle. Or maybe it had too much of a alkaline taste.I would also skip over the gyoza, the wrapper wasn’t cooked through and overly chewy. It should have been easier to chew.Dessert was very interesting, I think it stole the show. Interesting how they combined all the ingredients.
I’m a big fan of spicy ramen. This bowl of Picante got it just right! I finished the whole bowl including all of the broth. It was satisfying and delicious. The homemade noodles and included mushrooms made a difference. It was busy on a Friday night, but there was room for three of us. The wait staff was friendly. The music and the liveliness of the place was good. Highly recommend.
Best ramen in town! Love their veggie ramen and artisan ginger ale.
Kombu Ramen is a gastronomic delight. The food is 5 star, their service excellent and a wonderful little gem. Excellent dinner, excellent in every way!
Very nice Serving, just as expected; fast and tasty. Muy best wishes, continue on with the good work.
I am no Ramen expert, but this place is definitely 5 stars! The noodles are fresh and have great texture! Also made in house, which is not that common. The prices are great for Antigua. I tried both their Shoyu and Spicy options, pictured below.A go to spot definitely!
We are ramen snobs but the vegan ramens were exceptionally good, especially the sesame one. I cannot recommend this place enough, everything was so delicious and on point. Try the dessert which is surprising but has great flavors.
One of the best Ramen ever! (Comming from a Ramen fan). Love the toppings on the table!
I did not eat here, but after waiting for a bit for the restaurant to open, I found out that their "vegan" ramen actually has non vegetarian noodles (which includes eggs and chicken). I wish they would write that more clearly on their menu and not call them vegan dishes. The staff was quite courteous and knowledgeable about this as I left the restaurant though.Edit: after receiving this response, I guess the server wasnt aware that their noodles are vegan/vegetarian. I had enquired with her before I walked out obviously. Its also confusing because at the bottom of the menu it says extra noodles and says eggs and chicken which makes it seem like the ingredients include eggs and chicken
This place made me happy. The food is excellent. I had Gyoza, Tantanmen Ramen and beer. Sitting at the bar we could see how much love and professionalism goes into the food here. Service is quick and friendly. The music was good and just loud enough, the vibe was chill but energetic (if that makes sense).Full marks 5/5
Terrible customer service. If they give you wait time and you follow the wait time and then you come back and they’ve given your table away and then ask you to wait more….. it’s an indication of the customer service which is bad. Do not recommend.
Personally I have tried a few Ramens in my life but I have to say this place takes the gyoza (another one of their good optionsas my favourite so far. The broth on the ramen is amazing and the food is served really fast. The restaurant is small but I was always luck with the same chair waiting for me. The staff is very attentive and polite. If all even this wasnt enough the music played is very much to my liking (rock/metal playlist). The decoration (the Son Goku eating ramen in the bathroom was a nice touchand the open kitchen for all to see compliments the place in a great way.
New vegan options! 3 different ramen soups and other complementaries 🌱
Amazing ramen and fun atmosphere, fills up quick so be prepared to wait at peak hours
Being from Vancouver, we have amazing ramen. This is by far the best I’ve ever had. delish! Had the spicy one and gyoza. Highly recommend
If you know what y good ramen is: don’t come here.I was quite disappointed. You got the right idea but the techniques are just not right.First of all, didn’t pass the noddle test. As soon as I tested the noodle, it broke immediately. This means there’s no stretch, no chew, wrong flour, wrong technique. Noodles were terrible. Also flat. Ramen noodles are not flat.Chef to chef: broth, needs more depth, more bones, more reduction. It was a bit bland. The egg was not even cooked in spiced soy or plain soy, it was just an egg and it was over cooked. Pretty expensive for a ramen in Guatemala.Would not go again.
The Miso Ramen tasted super delicious! Friendly and fast staff
Best ramen I’ve ever had! 🔥 Really didn’t expect this in Guatemala after having ramen all over the world.
Really good ramen, and not just for Antigua, even compared to the many ramen shops Ive tried in NYC. First off the kitchen looked spotless when we arrived, the food arrived hot, quickly and looked beautiful with a nice variety of toppings. The broth for all three varieties were tasty as well as the noodles. I personally prefer my noodles with a little more bite, but they were better than most. The chef was attentive and obviously pleased to see how much we enjoyed his meal. I would definitely return if we had more time in Antigua. I suggest arriving just before opening time to get a seat right away. It is a small restaurant and seems to always have a wait outside.
🙌🏾 I had a super good vegetarian ramen, With the rice noodle option as well. Well executed interior design, back room especially.
Its a cool concept, but overpriced as I can get an instant noodle packet to have more flavour that the standard soup there. The spicy ramen was pretty good tho. Would make it so much easier if they did proper take away instead of "prepare at home boxes".
This is a phenom ramen joint. Ive had plenty of top notch ramen, and Kombu lives up to the great reviews.I tried the vegan miso ramen and added an egg. There is so much flavour in the dish! I plan on trying as much of the menu as I can during my stay. Also, shoutout to the incredible service! Cant wait to be back soon.
Excellent Ramen and service! The shoyu and miso were amazing! Very savory, more than enough broth, super flavorful, the egg was cooked well, noodles perfectly Al dente! Please make this stop if you’re in the area!
Simple as this: best ramen in Guatemala! I have tried the miso and the vegan ramen, both are awesome
Super good! This was the second Ramen shop I’ve been to in Guatemala and this one his hands down the best. We ordered the Shoyu Ramen, Miso Ramen, vegetarian giyoza, iced tea and ginger lemonade all were delicious! The staff was super friendly and very accommodating as one in our group cannot have pork. Overall excellent service, ingredients and taste. Definitely worth the price.
Great food, great atmosphere. Must be shared with great company! And you gotta try La Picante, its crazy good!
Really good ramen, at least considering where you are. This is no where near the best ramen of my life, unlike some other reviewers say, but its good and the staff is nice. Id like to deduct half a star because they have a "No Reggaeton"sign, but play pretty lame music (Goo Goo Dolls on repeat my last time there). But every semi fancy place in Antigua seems to play early 2000s alt rock, and its painful. Anyway, good ramen! Worth a visit.
Great ramen soup. They only serve there and there is no delivery. You can buy it to go, but you will need to prepare it at home by yourself following the instructions they give you. I would definitely pay some extra cash just to have it delivered at my house.
Stopped here for a quick bite and it was very good. I ordered the ramen and pot stickers. Prices are industry standard, and would come back here again for an informal afternoon snack. I would not recommend for a social event since it is not very spacious, although the wait staff was super accommodating.
The best Ramen Ive ever had. The place is nice and the attention of the staff is impressive. By far one of the best places to eat. You have to try it
I really enjoyed the place, its a bit small but good to eat there if youre in a hurry. Food was amazing, I really recommend the shoyu ramen and the lemonade with ginger
They have one of the best Ramen outside of Japan! So good. Try their “picante” option with local chiles.
I had a great meal here. The menu is a bit limited, as it is indeed a Ramen mostly shop, but the food has a great taste to it. Rumor has it that the recipe is originally japanese, and it tastes like it. If you can handle the heat, go for the spicy ramen, its phenomenal. Service is good and the place is very Instagram friendly. Check it out if youre nearby.
Incredible ramen in the heart of Antigua! If I didn’t know any better, I would swear I was in a ramen shop in San Francisco or New York City. Great ambience, incredible service, and the ramen was delicious. Vegan options available!
Very delicious 😋 fast to serve, clean and awesome
Delicious ramen - and what a surprise to find some in Guatemala! I’ve had my fair share, including in Japan, so I might be somewhat of a tough customer. I ordered the tonkotsu - the broth was absolutely perfect, the noodles are very well-made and cooked; the thickness of the pork slices could be improved (they’re very thinas could the garnish in my opinion (I’m personally not a fan of shiitake in the ramen, and I would’ve liked some more chives, or some bamboo shots, or more nori). The seaweed was a bit weird and thick. But all in all it’s near perfect! Very good beers too.
I had a good time at Kombucha, good service, clean place, the type of place you can visit once or twice during a visit, I really wanted to fall in love with their food, it ended up being not for me. Hope to come back again and try something better so I can improve the review.Artisan sodas are really good try them out.
Great food, limited menu but great choices. Wonderful service and good prices. Serving sizes are ample, enough to share if youre not used to eating a ton of food.
This (picanteits the best ramen Ive had ever, EVER! And Ive had my fair share of ramen around the globe.OMG! I really would come back to Antigua just to have another bowl.Loved it!!
Ramen was top notch and the dumplings were great! Place was clean and the seats were pretty comfortable as well. The waitress was very welcoming and attentive. Will definitely be coming back to this spot. Thanks for everything!
Great service, beautiful spot and delicious Ramen. Hopefully one day the will have a tempura version, meanwhile the spicy is the one!! For only Q10 get new noodles in your Ramen :)
Great Japan Experience in the world heritage place, Antigua Guatemala. This place is lovely you will enjoy to spend some quality time here enjoying a good talk with your company and tasting a DELICIOUS Ramen Cup made from heaven... taste delicious and also the Gyozas are homemade very tasty. The place is brand new, with traditional Antigua Guaremala architecture style, very beautiful! You will love it i recommend!
Great Ramen, lovely place, great service. Had the classic and the La picante, both were incredible. Noodles are the best I’ve had in a long time. Definitely will come again!
Kombu Ramen Shop offers the most authentic ramen experience Ive had in Guatemala. Delicious food made with fresh ingredients and all reasonably priced; they also offer both artisan beer and soft drinks f Im local breweries. I highly recommend you check them out!
Great place and AMAZING food! Drove from the city just to try Kombus ramen and I was NOT disappointed. The broth is a mix of salty and sweet. The noodles were definitely home made and the pork MELTED in my mouth. Heaven in a bowl. Coming back soon 😊
Homemade noodles- if thats not enough, Owners are dedicated to sourcing as much local, sustainably grown ingredients. Love the Simple menu that caters the meat and vegan eaters. We shared the Desert between three people was perfect: colourful and unique. Go now before this place becomes too popular and youll have to wait in lines to get in.
This place is amazing, the food here is so delicious their menu is small which I love because it really shows they know what they’re making and the passion they put in it. One of best places in Antigua. Keep the wonderful work guys.
This place is a hidden gem! A small restaurant located in the heart of Antigua Guatemala. The decoration combines perfectly with the food served, service was excellent and the owners were super friendly and welcoming.
