Lovely. Very friendly staff
It was a nice break, place and area was nice. Staff were friendly and polite, they make you feel welcome. Breakfast wasnt 💯 but I guess ok, did not like d bacon taste different and too dry, the egg station was nice as it was freshly fried and it was hot. Place was abit quiet as it Ramadan time and most people are fasting. Overall I will visit and stay here again.
Brilliant shopTop shop inside the hotelLadies dresses 650 dalisisCheapest I have foundQuality to perfectionWould shop again there
Nice enough hotel, with pleasent enough staff.Could do with a lick of paint all over and some general DIY (our sink leaked 24/7but surprisingly the free WiFi was great?!Beach sellers and beggers are a menace but hotel security are good at dealing with them!
Great stay. Nice hotel on beach. Well kept gardens and rooms.Food good and v reliable in the 2 hotel restaurants. We tried Kunte Kinte down the beach. My husband was ill and apparently so were others. A lot comes down to if restaurants have generators when electric goes off so be careful. Can heartily recommend Moudu the birdwatching guy. He is passionate about birdsand wildlife and is a genuinely nice man. Hehas an office left of the entrance. There areother bird tours outside but he is a realexpert.Couple downsides. Look Im used to WestAfrica as used to live there and the fact thatpeople are always trying to make extra moneyas their salaries are v low. Im also used totourists being approached by bumsters. V.unpleasant tall, large dreadlocked manalways outside who is very aggressive andangry. I found him intimidating. Couldsomething be done about him?Beware horse guys on the beach. I innocentlytook a photo of a foal that was following ahorse rider guy and he was v aggressive anddemanding recompense. We deleted thephotos.Found the Gambian tui rep v unpleasant. Wedont usually get transfers cos we prefer toget a taxi and do our own thing. Was ok onway to hotel. On way back we were given ahuge lecture on progressing through theairport. He wanted one person to pay the1000 delasis at the desks and other to get inthe check in queue. There was a Brusselsflight checking in too so ok was to try andsmooth the process. However bearing inmind we would have done our own thinganyway and as more normal for us, made ourown way through the airport if had not tookthe transfer, we chose to stay together. He letme through to pay and my husband wasbehind next in queue. I didnt therefore havethe money so I came back. The rep went ballistic and shouting that I told you how todo it and you need to come back. It was notcongested where I was so I said hes justthere, next, just let him in! It was ludicrous. He was angry cos wed dared to act likeadults who have extensively travelled andalso have a brain and free will and disobeyedhis unworkable rules! He also on the bus onthe way was giving an extremely hard sell toupgrade to the nice waiting lounge for £20. He went on and on saying we might bewaiting for a long time, had nice food thereblah blah which made me think he was lessconcerned for our comfort but was possiblyalso on commission. Wouldnt get transfersagain to avoid this guy.Would go back but learned.
Lovely hotel if you like the beach staff are great pool is good prices are high for drinks.have to get taxis to get to strip .
Stayed in Kombo Beach in early March 2022. Overall an excellent stay, the food was good the staff friendly, the rooms immacultely clean and gardens well kept. The hotel, tourism industry and staff have clearly found the COVID pandemic very difficult; the staff are incredibly kind and happy to help.
I had a lovely time staff and food was great night night entertainment was first class I would recommend anybody to visit
The Gambia is a must go destination, 28-30 Celsius every day. Friendly people really good food reasonable priced around £15 for two, downside beer has doubled in price since i was last there 2 and a half years ago its slightly less than in England, wine is around half price than here. Breakfast served at the Kombo is superb you name it ,it serves it and as much as you can eat . The hotel is clean and the staff will see that you have a relaxing vacation. The only reason it doesnt get a 5 is the place is starting to get a little ,needs a little bit of modernisation. But it really is worth a visit.
Lovely clean hotel.Staff are nice, friendly and helpful. Good food too. Will definitely come back to stay.
Very friendly staff, good breakfast, good location, clean and very nice place
Good breakfastFriendly staff.Needs updating.Good locationWould stay there again.Entertainment every night enjoyed the live music.
Hotel was great lovley location on the beach rooms small but nice with fridge set in nice gardens breackfast nice with loads of choice coming back in a few weeks
Visited in January 2020.lovely hotel and fantastic beach.rooms basic but good.cleaners came in every day. Definitely will be staying again
Beautiful location on the beach, gardens and birds lovely to see, staff excellent will do anything to make your stay the best, food very nice good choice with four different eating areas. BIG problem the cleanliness of the eating areas the main restaurant where you eat breakfast and dinner very dirty sausage on the floor for 2 days milk left on tables to be use by every guest that sits on that table not removed and replenish at the end of the breakfast poured back in to milk carton when I spoke to General Manager he answered why is it a problem table cloth with stains on it still on table four days later staff wiping tables with napkin guest had just wiped mouth on. A lot of S&D in hotel at least 10 cases I got to hear off in my 2 weeks stay. Hotel Kombo get your staff re-trained and your hygiene brought up to standard. I work for a hotel so I am aware how easy this is to resolve down to General Manager cutting wrong corners.
All our group of 4 plus other guests had Gastric Enteritis, kitchen and dining area filthy and unhygienic, food left on the floor for at least 2 days, manager denied everything and refused to walk around with us until we produced photographs of our first week. Rooms tired but acceptable, staff friendly but don’t bother, pay the extra money and go elsewhere
Restaurant is perfect there is not a lot of choise for the vegeterian but the waiters are very kind and nice 👍 no vegan choise 😞
It’s a very nice place but the rooms are too small for the amount of money they’re asking for.
Nice beach and friendly staff, rooms need updating
Just spent 2 weeks at kombo beach . My 2nd visit to this hotel. The gardens are kept beautiful here. I booked the standard room and badou was my wonderful cleaner . It was great to come back to my clean room so many thanks to him ! There is a vast choice at breakfast and was persuaded to try my first waffle ! Loved it . All the staff are friendly with a traditional Gambian smile !!!! They are a credit to the hotel ! Pool was a little cool but is kept very clean . Security did a good job keeping the beach sellers away if needed. A polite no thankyou does the trick most times . Had a couple of chicken sizzlers in the restaurant which was delicious. Liked to have seen soup of the day or jacket potato on the lunch time menu . Maybe we can have it next season ????Lastly a big thankyou to the manager Mr. Hoffman for his hard work looking after the hotel ! Will be back next year
Fantastic beachfront location, nice hotel.Have stayed here a few times & always enjoy.
Hotel was lovely and grounds were well kept, however my partner did get food poisoning from the barracuda bar after eating reheated chicken 🤦🏻♀️ security on the beach is a God send to keep bumsters from hassleing too much although some also take back handers! I didnt sample the pool but the area looked clean enough, beach area is kept lovely and clean. I would go back.
Great place to stay for exploring Gambia enjoyed everything shame the food wasnt up too much but plenty of restaurants within 2 mins walk
Brilliant hotel stayed there twice now cant fault it brilliant staff lovely breakfast perfect place to relax
Great hotel fabulous staff fantastic lovely beaches
Rooms were ok, but not magnificent. If you have the mindset as me that a room should just be good to sleep, its enough. The rest of the hotel was really great: tasty buffets, good restaurants, good cocktails, nice beach with comfortable chairs and security, friendly staff, fun activities, reasonably sized (but very clean!pool.
Lovely Hotel. Very friendly and very well run. Fantastic location on the beach. Good facilities. Have stayed many times and will continue to stay many times more. Go and you will see.
Amazing experience, the hotel is lovely as well as amenities, it loses a star from me because of the state of the wifi.I paid extra to have it in my room and it was so bad, I couldnt send a very important email and eventually had to leave the hotel to go somewhere else to send it. The wifi should be improved as this will determine my next choice of kombo beach next visit to Gambia
I came with a group of teenagers and we all loved it. Excellently laid out hotel, spacious and amazing Ocean front bedroom views.Lovely food and facilities and night entertainment.I gave them 4 stars instead of 5 because of the very poor WiFi. You pay for WiFi in your room but its still poor value for money and the free WiFi is no better. Guests pay good money to stay at the hotel so theres no excuse nnit to invest in good WiFi as I know it does exist in Gambia even the school we visited in Gambia had faster WiFi than the hotel. Ill be back here again to give it one more chance to improve wifi.
I like the location but the hotel is in great need of improvements. I been coming here years
I wouldn’t stay anywhere else! Been going for 5yrs + and my mother has used different hotel and she said she wouldn’t put her enemy in it!Staff make this hotel amazing there like an extended family and they will always remember you. Nothing is every too much.ROOMS- there basic clean and lovely personally we just sleep and shower in our rooms so don’t need tip top. Air con is in each room telly safe and fridge. The room service is 5* anything you need it’s there the ladies and gents are super friendly.ENTERTAINMENT- there is always something going on they have a fab entertainment crew. Learning to cook Gambian dishes, water polo, foot ball on the beach and much more! In the evening they have shows either a band or traditional Gambian drums and dancing you can always join in too!FOOD- there is such a variety. Breakfast are AMAZING buffet style. There is a lunch time menu also and coffee and cake every day around 4 I think?GROUNDS- there is a shop on site but failing that there is two shops a stones throw away from the hotel. They have an outdoor gym. Never used it as I’m on holiday and couldn’t think of anything worse! There’s a spa, sports bar and a kids and adult pool.BEACH- the beach is paradise and the sea is like bath water!I can’t rate this hotel enough. It’s home away from home. Hope this review helps 😊
Have been for 7 years and we go for 4 weeks in November /December and 4 weeks in February /March that will tell everyone how much we loved it we are going this November but I will, not be going back as they alter the rooms we normally have a premium room on the ground floor as I am disabled and need my wheelchair though thats what we booked but they now say if we want the same rooms we have to pay anothanother £800 as they alter the rooms names discussed hope they remember that if thats not the way to treat there guests
Friendly staff and good food. Right next to the beach and a nice pool. The rooms could be better. The toilet was leaking and the door knob almost fell off.
Súper hotel very close to the beach. Super friendly staff. Great food
Really nice hotel. The staff were courteous,The environment was clean, food was great and I look forward to going back there.
Wow😲. Great location right on the beach. Great price, fantastic staff, top notch security, food, unbelievable full (very fullfree breakfast. Variety of free entertainment every evening. Drinks were always cold. Great value. Highly recommended.
Proper hotel.Nice surroundings right on the beach.Enjoyable staff and staff use their hospitality skills e.g making your bed with flowers as finishing touch .
Had a lovely meal there nice view over looking the beach and sea
Nice hotel, wonderful staff. Not everything works to plan but the staff do their best to resolve the issues.
Great staff will do anything to make your stay pleasant and enjoyable - draught beer too yaaaay
My sister and I stayed at the Kombo beach hotel in February 2018 and we loved it, the staff was friendly, everyday you was greeted by the staff. its definitely the staff that makes your stay so enjoyable it wasnt the two white men that you we saw every morning at breakfast who looked so miserable. I suppose they were Management The hotel does need updating but we was happy with our room it was clean and tidy. We looked at other hotels in the area and the kombo in my opinion was the best. My only criticism is when you come down for breakfast or dinner there was no where to sit and these 2 white men standing there looking like policemen. We will be definitely coming back later in the year but there was rumours that the hotel is closing for 6 months and the staff is not going to be paid for 6 months...outrageous.
Staff were very friendly, entertainment in the day and evening was good. The hotel rooms could do with updating but were very clean. Location was on the beach which was handy.
It was a fare experience. Most of the staff was professional, but a few of the staff were less than polite. I guess Im at fault for not reading there is a charge for a guest visiting the room for ANY length of time, even 5 minutes, family or friends.
Love going to this hotel staff and fellow guests are friendly
Very nice place. Basic by Western standards, but actually well equipped and good facilities. Well located and right in the beach.
I thoroughly enjoyed my stay at Kombo Beach Hotel. Staff were very friendly and helpful. A great hotel of you want to just chill and relax. There are a number of different activities that you can do while in the hotel. Activities such as Water Aerobics, Volleyball, Table Tennis, and even Gambian cooking leasons to name a few. They have a great bar that shows sporting events. I would definitely stay there again.
I had a good childhood memory of this wonderful with my sister, nephew and niece. Its reminds me of those days. The staff are friendly and the last time I visited was in 2015. It has been awarded the best hotel this year. Keep up the good work.
Great location, excellent food and drinks and wonderful staff. Remember this is Gambia dont come expecting uber luxury. Be mindful of the political and economical climate and the rest will fall into place.. A great base to explore and take in the rest of the Smiling Coast
The hotel was built in 1984, which is very obvious since it has not been renovated ever since. The hotel room is very basic. The bed was good. The bathroom has a combined shower and bath. The glue is nasty. There were some small ant like insects at the sink every day.You have to pay separately for the air-conditioning, a 83 euros per week. With temperatures of 40 degrees outside you’ll need it. You also have to pay separately for the safety box/locker, which only can be paid with Dalassi. Let me stress that you’ll take it, we forgot to put the wallet from our bag in the safety box just one time and money went missing. There was a hole in our window, which had been repaired with a piece of newspaper. Not making it easy for the air-conditioning to cool the room. Especially, since it was not working properly. We asked the hotel to fix it. Unfortunately, it did not get that much better that week. The pool is ok, not that big. You get a free towel to lay at the pool. Laying on the beach was not an option for us. There are guards working on the beach, I assume to guarantee a peaceful stay. Unfortunately, it is very obvious they are being bribed by different vendors. People are continuously, on a daily basis, coming over to you to sell something over and over again. Even when you are walking to the see for a swim. We found this very annoying. The food at the hotel is very expensive compared to the shops/restaurants in Kotu/Kololi. The staff is very selective who they are being friendly to. Although we were very polite we appeared to be not on their ‘liking’ list, so we were treated with a lot of disinterest/ even almost rudeness. It is possible to open an account, which you can pay with a credit card at the end or your stay. When we wanted to pay our bill, they had made a mistake with the air-conditioning costs. They charged 14 days, were we had only stayed at their hotel for 7 days. No excuses were made, and the man at the counter was not authorized to correct the bill. When we came back the next morning, we were asked to come back after 20 minutes because he was not finished with printing our bill.Upon our return, the same man as the day before, made a handwritten re-calculation of the bill. He went into an office but when he returned we all of a sudden had to pay a different amount. Again, no excuses were made.
They have the most hard working, kindly, professional and respectful staffs throughout the whole Gambia. Their staffs will entertain u with their lovely smiling face with respect way. Go visit once you gonna love it superb kombo beach.
