Kokanee Glacier Provincial Park in Nelson
Description
Privilege
Beautiful!
Favorite hike in the area. Went on August 7th.The road up to Gibson Lake was well maintained, although there was a little bit of traffic.Enjoyed a perfect blue bird day, made it to Kaslo Lake and took a dip in Kokanee Lake on the way back (cant beat the refreshing waters of the lake after a couple hours of hiking).
MoreAnother amazing place to visit
Beautiful, breath-taking views and many activities to choose from. The glacier hike worth every step and awesome campground for some rest & relaxation, back in the years.😊
MoreThe best part of Kokanee Glacier Park is where most people dont get to.
Wow, Wow and Wow! The View the trek and the number of animals we encounter on the way!
MoreWonderful day hike.
One of the most beautiful hike I ever done. Highly recommend staying at the Kokanee Cabin and doing the day hike to near by places. Breath taking views. There are so many animals and birds.
MoreBeautiful lakes and access to Kokanee glacier
Took the Silver Spray hike. Hard to drive there but well worth it.
Incredible. Rocky road but most cars can go. Dogs are not allowed but I would risk the fine as it is a wilderness and empty.
MoreVery scenic and tranquil.
Access road is quite rough and not suitable for 2 wheel drive. Trails are well maintained but not marked well. I highly recommend checking the trail information on the website before heading out as some may be blocked by cut shrubs. Make sure to use the wire mesh to protect your fires and break line from porcupines.
MoreGreat place to go for a hike.
Climbed Grays Peak on 17th June 2018. It was truly amazing. I went there with 6 members from the Kootenay Mountaineering Club. Took us 4 hours to climb up and 2h15 to "slide" down :-)
MoreGreat scenery cant wait to go back
Super cool place
The scenery is beautiful, the walking is easy going and its a great place to enjoy friends and family.
MoreFantastic place
Kokanee Glacier Cabin in an amazing spot in the middle of the wilderness. Pretty luxurious for a Backcountry cabin.
MoreDo you like mountains, marmots, Moss? Then you will like this amazing Park!
Rob and Solonge were amazing custodians of the cabin. The hiking was amazing. I couldnt be happier!!
MoreBeautiful.
Absolutely beautiful, the first 4.1 KM are the hardest but it is very rewarding
Great hiking. Road scares most away
Im sure its a nice park if we managed to see it BUT we have to drive 16km in a dirt road only to find out that DOGS ARE NOT ALLOWED!!! Would have been nice if this is posted at the beginning of the road.
MoreBeautiful, amazing walking.
Tucked into the mountains leading up to the Kokanee Glacier, the Kokanee Glacier Cabin is a palace. Timber framed, Net Zero (thanks to Micro Hydro and full waste water treatment system), and steps away from spectacular alpine lakes, this park only just begins to show its beauty. For Backcountry skiers it is a treasure of big mountain slops and safe sheltered deep powder turns. In the summer the spectacular ridges and enchanting valleys draw people from all over the world. If you have the chance to visit, this park is a treasure.
MoreThis place will make your eyes and heart happy.
