Time-tested zoo featuring unique animals & a small amusement park with rides for children.
Easy little zoo, close to a station but in a quiet area. Attractions and food options are definitely outdated and the animal cages a bit cramped even by zoo standards
Public Zoo, which makes it cheap, Has a wide variety of animals. Especially nice if you have kids under the age of 10. They did lost its main animal, the giant Panda so its a bit strange to still see panda illustrations everywhere.Nice place for a date or with kids but they need something special again
Panda is sick and therefore we couldnt see it🙁
It is very old and some of the animals have died so is a little sad but good for young children between 3 and 8. Will be renovated in the next year or two so probably will get a better rating then.
The zoo is very nice place to take your kids and spend the weekends. You can prepare your lunch and eat inside. Panda house is closed so unfortunately you can not see panda now.
I saw a very sad elephant and two gorillas being kept prisoner here. Please reconsider keeping them just so the zoo can make PROFIT. These are intelligent animals they need more than this zoo can offer so please rehouse them. It’s abuse!
We had wonderful days time at zoo, my daughter who is 2 years old enjoyed very much. Been here 3 times and still need more days to explore. It’s so big, clean and well organized. Waiting line was quite long in front of the panda’s gate, might take your time. The last time we came here we couldn’t see the panda because of panda’s not good condition. My baby was little bit disappointed about it. I wish I checked it carefully on web before visiting, no wonder why the zoo was not so crowded as usual. The playground is interesting too. Don’t forget to visit the souvenir shop before you left, you might find something cute there ;)
For ¥600 entrance absolutely you can enjoy w/your kids. And ther is a amusement park! 😊
Visited this place today. It was overall a good experience. So many animals to see.Just didnt get the chance to see my personal favorite animal "PANDA" as it was sick🥹.I hope he recovers from his sickness very soon! Its fun to spend time here with friends, family or your beloved one.For adults it will cost 600¥ per person. Its best to go early after 9a.m. as it closes soon around 5p.m.
Many kinds of animals! Never seen a penguin, polar bear and sea lion before coming here. A good place to visit with family. Ticket price ¥600 for adults. Discount available for students.
Entry fee is very cheap. We could see a lot of animals. Many families come to the zoo and had lunch. Good for small kids.
Good fun. Good variety of animals with a small amusement park within. 500 yen for entry. Whats not to like? Food options are limited here though.
A solid offering of zoo animals in what I hope are adequate enclosures. Not bad by any means, but probably better for younger kids.We had no trouble spending the entire day there.Plenty of places to stop and have a a packed lunch, which is allowed.A small amusement park was attached to the property when we were there, but thats scheduled for removal.
This is a local zoo which seems pretty old. Tickets are cheap and the target market seems like a family with kids. Regardless, this is a pretty cute place for a date. Many area which supposedly filled with animals are empty, not sure why. There are a lot of sakura trees. I believe it will be magical if we visit during sakura blooming. Unfortunately i went there when the sakura is not yet blooming at all.
I was really upset to see the animals. Most of them looked depressed. I saw animals just by themselves, alone walking around in circles.Do better Oji zoo. It’s 2022. The welfare of animals really matter.Do better…
A zoo and a themed park in one. Kids will definitely enjoy this place. Just a tip, bring some food because some restos inside the zoo are closed due to the Pandemic.
Went on a Monday morning. Was able to have a relaxing three hours walking around the zoo.
📌A mesmerizing experience at the OOJI ZOO 😍🤩 🦒 🦔 🦓 🐘 good for everyone! Real, huge, massive wildlife experience ⁉️💯✅🚶♀️🦁 🐅 🐼 🐒 🐵 🦍 🦩 🦧🐊🦢🐆🐿🐀🦥🦡🦌🦘🦛🐓❤️🧡💛💚💙💜
Very tired looking and most of the animals and especially the birds looked bored and listless. Perhaps it’s the result of Covid, it’s hard to say - this used to be a favourite place for a half day out with the family, but I wouldn’t recommend at the moment.

Nothing extraordinary as far as zoos go but nice as a local resource for bored kids
i had the best moment in here... i enjoyed watching different kinds of animals and mammals. Well maintained place and amusement park.
Its good for the kids so that they can see diffirent kinds of animals not only in the picture and theres a lot to learn about animals like the sounds, how animals react etc.
The place is well maintained. We went there during summer season so it’s really hot but we enjoyed watching animals in the zoo.Unfortunately, we have not seen the giant panda because there’s a prior online reservation. My granddaughter had so much fun that she wants to come back and see the giant panda next time.
We had the best time here! Not too crowded and lovely zoo
Admission is free because the weather is cold in winter and many animals cannot be seen. This is a zoo for ages, but the playground inside is well maintained. Tickets selling is self serviced. Tickets are also very cheap. Our whole family spent a happy afternoon here.
Zoo is a little bit dated. There is an amusement park which is pretty entertaining though. Easy parking!
Bigger than expected. Admission fee is 600 yen for adults. Theres a theme park inside which has kids rides. We went quite late for didnt have a chance to ride them. But the whole zoo took us abt 2.5 hours but didnt manage to see all the animals. Didnt even take a rest. So this place should take about 5-6 hours to explore including meals and rides.
Many kind of animals here. It’s about 40 minutes from osaka by JR train. And cost about 5$. Don’t miss Kobe, especially Kobe Oji Zoo if you have a chance to go to Japan.
Panda !! A small zoo with decent amount of animals . Great close up experience with the animal and theres a min theme park for kids
Free zoo for kids! And it has a panda bear! Great fun. Animals were in good health and strangely very active. Only spent an hour but could have spent more time looking around. Kids loved the amusement rides, felt like the lack of admission justified a couple rides for everyone.
Very clean, fairly spacious and unlike many other zoos in Japan, you can actually get relatively close to the animals. We went on a weekday and it was very quiet too, which was great.
The nostalaga of this zoo is a center piece. The animals were sleepy in the morning due the heat but have very accessible views when they are resting. Of course the 🐼 panda is a rare exhibit to have. The petting is a highlight for kids as well.
Fabulous zoo and small amusement parks with child rides. Better than nearby zoos in other cities. Main attractions pandas, kangaroos, elephants, koala, giraffes, penguins. Most beautiful full blooming sakura Ive seen in Kobe and Osaka. Worth the visit. Kids will love this place.
Nice place to go out side during spring season in Kobe. You can see some animals and do hanami with your family. The kids can play around the park. The favourite part is the double slope.
The zoo is located in Kobe City. It has many animals, big and small. The staff is friendly. Many signs are in English so it was helpful. The zoo is generally free for kids and about ¥600 for adults as of March 2019. The zoo has a nice game and ride area for kids and adults to enjoy.
Great place to visit with family and friends. I have appreciated the fact that, compared to Tōkyō’s places dedicated to animals, this zoo in Kōbe is not overcrowded. You can take your time to admire various kinds of animals, especially pandas and koalas. Definitely a place to visit if you’d like to see a wide range of animals!
It is a great park, a lot to see, good in all seasons. Great for a picnic. You can get food there. Amusement park attached. The annual pass is worth it. Fun for kids of any ages. Keep in mind it closes early in winter.
I am impressed how they keep the zoo so clean..red pandas and grizzly bears are the first for me..
The zoo is big enough, the animals are plenty, but the place looks old
They have a Panda named Tantan! Lots of animals and have a great museum that constantly changing its contents and display so visiting again is a good option. This zoo has a playground area with ferris wheel, merry go round and etc, also two slides that arent only exciting for kids but also for adult. Sadly they didnt always provide English text for animal description but atleast they have the name of animal in English text and in its Latin name. Many outdoor rest areas available here and one indoor rest area if you dont bring any mattress or didnt get bench outside or to shelter when its raining
Wonderful place to take your kids, especially for the ridiculously low cost. Great selection of animals including a Panda. Bring your own lunch is suggested as the food quality is pretty low. Japan is such a bargain to visit!
1. Great place even for grown ups!! I enjoyed going around the zoo and looking at different animals. They have A LOT of animals that you can see.2. If you’re planning to see the Panda, there’s a very long line for him/her so we decided to just look at the panda from afar. 🐼3. There are vending machines all over the zoo so no need to worry about drinks esp during Summer.4. There is a souvenir shop near the zoo entrance but I think it’s pricey.5. There are discounts for students and senior citizens I think. The entrance for adult is around 500 円 if I remember it correctly.
Wonderful Zoo, great place for day out, kids enjoyed very much.
fee:600えんso many children are here. and many animals are there, also.but almost half of cages are empty....if cherry blossoms is full, itll be good for walk, but today is already gone...
Great zoo, overall good experience with many animals to look at
Cool zoo and great for family or school trips
Various type of animal and specially panda .really enjoyed a lot here ..
This zoo is one of our most favorite spots in Kobe. Great for kids in all ages. The facilities are very old but well maintained. It has wide variety of animals from pandas to gorillas, penguins to polar bears, elephants to ostriches. Dont miss the baby hippo usually under the water with mom. It is also one of the best spots for cherry blossoms in Kobe around late April. Check the special night opening hours to experience surreal beauty during the cherry blossom season. There is a small amusement park inside the zoo for short enjoyment. I cant recommend the restaurants in the zoo as they are mediocre at best. Plan for a half day.
Penguins, Beers, Lions, Tigers, Pandas, Elephants, Flamingos, loads of Monkeys, Alligators, Polar Bears, a three legged Lima... And loads more. This Zoo has got the lot. Great for kids of all ages, excellent value for money and if you are not exhausted after the exotic animal overload theres a cute Ferris Wheel and train ride for the kids at the end. (Avoid the food stands, greasy junk, but it is a zoo not a restaurant!). We live in London and this beats London Zoo hands down. On the whole the animals didnt seem too sad to be behind bars, apart from one suicidal looking Black Bear, but he could just have been having a bad day.
