Knights' Halls, Old Akko - Tourist attraction in ‘Akko, Israel
Enjoyable walks through the old halls once where knights inhabited.
More historical underground templar and crusader city of the past. Fascinating how well made and aesthetically detailed they are.
A beautiful historical place and museum. Wonderful audio-visual guide. Highly recommend for a visit. Tells the story of templiers in medieval time in Akko.
I highly recommend this to all history lovers. They give you an electronic guide that you press on and it explains to you what you see
very interesting old places with history, perfect with a guide!
It is a very historical and well-cared place, I suggest you visit it when you are around even if you are not in Acre, it is the worst of your time. The place is always doing some different events - stay updated on the city website. Also this place is includes free entrance to "The Okashi Museum of Modern Art " added below few his works of modern art (today its very popular while back to the production years it wasnt).
Nice old fort , well restored, made by the Hospitalarians / Templars on top of other older constructions.
An audio guide (available in many languageshelps visitors navigate the surprisingly extensive site. The handsets cleverly synchronise with filmic projections so the commentary matches the images. The size of the halls are cathedral scale and interpretive displays augment the audio commentary.Outside, is a garden area shaded by large fig trees and a cafe. You can buy a ticket here, for 49 ins, that gets you into 5 other sites in the old city, including the Templer Tunnels and the Turkish Bathhouse.
Impressive complex with complicated history, degree of reconstruction not always clear. Definitely worth a trip from Haifa, but not the gem of our trip to Israel.
Memorable experience. In my opinion I suggest enjoying this experience with the guidance of a certified tour guide due to the rich cultural history and latest archeological studies.(Photo below taken in Jerusalem)
Very limited access due to a music festival. Still had to pay full price. Event staff around the grounds were rude. 4th time visiting. Avoid "overlapping" festivals and youll see more than 30% of the site.
Nice tour ! Worth it !
Very impressive, with comprehensive information. The audio-visual experience could have been better. The ticket which includes several attractions like the Turkish Baths is very good value.
Although this is part ojf the combined ticket for Akko/Acre, this one is a pass if you have any issues walking. The accessibility doesnt exist as the lifts are out of order and there are stairs to go down stairs and you need to bend all the way through the tunnel.
Cool very interresting
Very cool history, nice historical architecture and friendly staff!
Several areas inside the citadel. Selfguided tour with audio device included for the hall. Roots meat restaurant rabinur heter mechira.
So interested museum. Audio guide has many languages (English , Russianmultimedia expositions, many information on English. Thank you.
Amazing family experience! A historical site, beautifully kept. The kids had a blast
A most comprehensive, well organised, professionally built and truelly accessible museum. Needs better funding and more original material to present.
Visited this as part of a day trip of Tourist Israel. However, I understand, that they used the tourist services of Bein Hareim tours. The history is awesome, and our guide helped us a lot in letting us know about the important spots.
Declared a UNESCO site, this is an absolutely a must see historic site! We went as a family and enjoyed every minute. Akko is a city that over the past 3000 years so many religions, cultures and conquers, all left a mark and all are exhibited in the Knights hall. We also went to see a temporary exhibit of the great Leonardo Di Vinci (worth every minute). The Knights hall is also closed to the other parts of old Akko, which definitely worth a visit.
Wonderful experience. The self guided audio tour was fantastic. The structure of very impressive and very well preserved.Highly recommended.
A great place to visit. Its very interesting to know the history of templar fortress. It also has some activities to play with children
An interesting place. An audio guide is included into the ticket. 50₪ for a ticket that covers all the historical places in Akko and the audio guide. Works on Saturday. We arrived on Saturday afternoon -almost no people. Nice and cool inside despite the hot weather outside.
We went to Akko early in the morning , take some breakfast at the market closer to the tourist information office , they sell natural juice .. and coffee and of course pita with sharwarma . In the market you can found a lot of thing , most of them are from the Arabs , I have to say that I like how the dress are made , also they made delicious sweet that you can buy in there ! After that we went to the museum and take a rope to into the túnels ,amAzin how the old city was and so much history to tell ,also we visit the Turkish bath 🙈 not sure is the correct name (but you will see in the pictures ! The place is very clean and you can see that they’re taking care of that ! Thanks for all !
The place is highly maintained, clean, with lots of historical details preserve outstanding.
Acco Old Town World Heritage. Interesting preserved place
Beautiful historical underground town, with a stunning renovation and explanation of its story.
Very cool place to visit, with very deep history! Highly recommended!
A hidden gem. Make sure you spend an afternoon going through the exhibits, the Turkish bath (included on the ticket, yet not at the same placeand the Templars tunnel. The surrounding street markets will prove to be fun. Parking is ok. Make sure you give yourself about 3 hours.
Accro old city walls os a must visiting Israel, and If you are near Haifa, beatiful preserved medieval town
Nice place to tour in, especially in a rainy day, well organised and goid also for kids
Exciting, very well preserved, and excellent exhibition.
A very informative and unique attraction in Israel. Suitable for kids and adults. The halls are suitable for strollers and are accessible, but the old castle itself is not.The tickets are also priced very reasonably and give access to other attractions as well.
If you are a fan of medieval history then this is a must see place. Akko (Acrawas a landing pad and stronghold of crusaders coming to free Jerusalem from Muslim rule. Also very charming old town surrounding it.
Amazing museum with very unique experience. We are amazed by its intricate presentation of ancient artifacts with highly sophisticated visual/digital projections, we could really feel how it must be like in Crusade period. In the entrance we also tried virtual reality experience, that one is also worthwhile.
New archeological descoveries, original and authentic atmosphere of old Acre. Must take a real guide for great stories and explanation.
When the Crusader knights traversed Europe nearly 1000 years ago, their target was always the land of Israel they called it the gate to the holy land. Therefore, while they left their mark on many areas across the European continent, the concentration of Crusader-era sites throughout this small country are unparalleled. Fortresses and churches dot Israel’s landscape, and the interested tourist can even visit smaller Crusader-era homesteads. Its the best city to describe the crusader tine in the holy land
Its a good place if you want to know history. Though the visit charges are a tad on the higher side.
Highly recommended when in Akko, one of the best attractions to visit. Great history and the audio tour gives you a lot of information about the history of Akko including the Crusaders and Ottoman control.
A very impressive place to discover and experience. If you want to get all the nitty-gritty details I suggest you use the audio guide. But even without it, there is enough to be impressed by walking from room to room and reading the short explanations on the side and on the walls. Give yourself at least 60 to 90 minutes to visit this place. Both adults and little children will enjoy.
Amazing step back in time. The interactive audio tour provides a detailed account of the long history of the Knights Templars and their important role in the crusades. They ran a hospital here and looked after the weak and neady. Most of the tour is inside large stone chambers and there is a long underground tunnel which you can use.
A very beautiful and interesting historic site. Its a big fortress from the middle ages. You can allso combine the tour with a visit to the local market or take a sail boat.
Superb experience !!! If you love history you must not miss this place. 5 stars is too little. It definitely deserves your time. In fact we combined the visit here with few other sites and museums in Akko and had fabulous day. Get ready to walk a lot.
This is another ruins of a city with lots of historical significance. Must visit for those who like to know about the past. There are quite a few places around the ruins which are also with history. One can buy the tickets of one or all the places or chose a few. Its not cheap but definitely worth seeing. A well preserved place.
A part of the archaeological city improvement plan. Entreance fee required. Can be taken as a part of a bundle that includes the turkish hamam and the templar tunnel. Recently reconstructed. Has interactive explanation, an artisan hall with great things for the kids. You can choose one of three routes according to length. Great experience! Have fun!
A beautiful place and very nice halls with projection animations on some walls. One thing that spoils the fun is the entery fee which is a bit too high in my opinion. Also the most annoying problem is that youre only allowed one toilet visit per visitor and only one toilet is open (there are more.....LOCKED!And an extera visit will set you back 3 NIS. This is in my opinion an evil way for a private toilet company to make money off of a captive customer base. To add insult to injurey, the one toilet in operation is poorly maintained.
What an incredible place! Covered up by rubble for centuries, now being excavated - intact! Even though the excavations are ongoing, there is so much to see - GIANT crusader dining halls, narrow tunnels, huge rooms, domed stone/brick ceilings...like stepping back in history, with artifacts and helpful pictures of what life was like back then. You could get lost in there. Beautiful courtyards and garden.
Its a 2-3 hour audio guided tour. Standing on your feet pretty much all around.Interesting and informative.Though the sign say the toilet closes at 17:00 on a Friday, it really closes around 16:15.
