Restored 15th-century castle known for its elaborate medieval-themed banquets & walled garden.
Great 500 year old castle for food, wine and live entertainment!
Food was very good. Entertainment was much fun. Eating at Castle Knappogue was much fun!🏰
What an enchanting evening! The food was delicious and the entertainment was delightful! Highlight of our trip!
Good food and excellent entertainers
We had a group of six and we visited the Knappogue Castle for a medieval dinner show. The actors wore wonderful costumes from the era and entertained us with stories, singing, dancing and food. It was a wonderful evening for all of us. The actors are all very talented with their singing and playing of instruments. I would definitely recommend visiting this castle and enjoying one of their shows. The food was quite tasty as well.
Genuine castle so avoid hotter days as larger crowds an add to the temperature. Talented staff. Food average but in keeping with the era
Great castle with great views! We enjoyed the banquet and show there and both were fantastic! The were very quick to refill the wine (which was very niceand the food was delicious, the performers were all very good as well (step dancing, harp, violin - all great). And the cup of mead at the beginning was very nice as well!
Was here in 1999 and I have wanted to go back ever since... Magical castle...
Not to be missed. We attended a Medieval Banquet here. Excellent food and entertainment.
Tacky but good fun. Especially after a pint of mead. Food is lovely, entertainment is great
Wonderful food. Unlimited drink. Couldnt think of a better time and worth every penny. The staff is super talented and made the whole experience a time to remember.
So very entertaining. An evening to remember. Food was good. So much fun even as being the king and my wife the queen of Alistair.
Beautiful and great history!
Very well done entertainment, and good food - lots of fun!
We had a blast. The staff played right along with our group, renaming our Lord as Peppy and encouraging us to have fun and participate. It was a night to remember. Entertainment were very talented. Food was more than adequate with such a large group. Tomato basil soup was especially tasty and hot.
Fun evening and end to a tour. Food was plentiful, entertainment was top notch.
You must do this attraction. What a wonderful night with people from all over the world to share our experience. The staff dress up in period clothing and give a fantastic performance. Hail to King Ron and Queen Tina.
You cannot do a tour of the castle or gardens at anytime and is only available to either hire on AirBNB or attend a banquet. We went in thinking we could look around but couldn’t and ended up staying for a banquet which was great. Wish we’d known before hand that it wasn’t open for guided tours though as it’s not clear. According to the staff it’s been 5+ years since you could.
Such a fun time. Great service, show, music, and food. Well worth it if you are in Limerick for some time.
Castle was closed due to banquet. Okay, bad luck for us. But the gates to the so-called victorian Garden shouldve also been shut tight. Certainly no one took care of that excuse of a weed covered lawn in a long time. Castle may look lovely from the inside. Cant tell. Disappointing...
We did one of those dinners. Unlimited wine! Staff were hilarious. Definitely worth every penny!
Good food, great company, and quite the range of entertainment.
What a great evening ful of fun and laughter. The staff (in period costumewere funny and very talented. A violinist welcomed us ascwe entered the dining hall, the staff were very very friendly and very funny. The 4 course meal was absolutely delicious....I would have like the choice of having something else other than smoked salmon for an entree (I dont like salminbut everything else was delicious. Highly recommended...
My husband and I renewed our vows in the summer of 2016 inside the walled garden and had a wonderful three-day stay in the castle, which we had all to ourselves. The staff was absolutely amazing, the castle was beautiful (and such a blast to explore!), the medieval dinner was a great experience, and the grounds were stunning. Quin, the neighboring village, is also darling, and we enjoyed our evenings eating at the local restaurant and strolling among the ruins of Quin Abbey. Were planning another trip to Ireland in 2020--with our family this time--and well certainly be making a stop at Knappogue Castle.
We went there because we discovered the excellent whisky of the same name. Sadly, you cant visit or see it
A beautiful walled garden on the grounds
Myself and my husband spent 2 nights in this castle to celebrate our wedding anniversary in October, we had the whole place to ourselves. The place is pretty amazing. The kitchen isnt very luxurious but it is very castle-y.
Fabolous evening of entertainment. Interesting food. Wonderful welcoming staff making every moment a joy to be there. Only gripe was when we went to locate our cars after the banquet there were no lights in the lonely car park making it a scary experience in the pitch black night time.
The banquet was magnificent! The food was delicious and properly portioned. Nearly endless glasses of wine 🤤. The entertainment/entertainers were beautiful in every way. We also stayed the night and boy was that an experience. Truly once in a lifetime for an American like me. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!
Lovely place to visit in a sunny day
The Medieval dinner was fun. The performers were very good the show was fun. The food was excellent. We arrived early and were allowed to explore the gardens. Unfortunately they have not been taken care of for a while. A good gardener could make them beautiful again.
Such an amazing experience to sleep in a real castle. If you have kids, they will never forget it!
Knappogue castle is medieval tower house dating back to 1467 and it was built by Sean MacNamara. It has a varied history ~ from being a site of a battle to a home. In 1571 the Castle became the seat of the MacNamara Clan, part of the Dalcassians. In 1659 it was confiscated by Cromwells parliament and granted to Arthur Smith. When the monarchy was restored in 1670 Knappogue was returned to the MacNamaras. The MacNamara Clan sold the castle in 1800 when they experienced financial difficult, and it has changed hands a number of times subsequently.Today you can visit the walled garden or attend a medieval banquet both are well worth the effort. The walled garden itself is peaceful and well maintained garden.
Incredible evening of entertainment that included singing and dancing. Food was excellent and the staff was amazing.
Awesome evening here. Great food good wine and great entertainment 😆
We did the medieval banquet. It was a lot of fun and Id highly recommend it. Food was great and the actors/entertainment was excellent.
Attended the evening banquet. The in period costumed staff said a superb job of both entertainment and service. The meal was surprisingly good, expected the price of the banquet was more about the atmosphere and less on the meal, I was wrong.
More of a mansion than a castle, but all the more comfortable because of it. Nice breakfast.
Wonderful, fun experience. The staff was very accommodating for my wife who is in a wheelchair.
So much fun. Dinner show was wonderful. Really interacted with the guest. Food was good. Really didnt want the show to end. A must do if you can.
Love this beautiful castle and garden. Perfect venue for weddings, its so Stunning you feel like youre walking around inside a painting of a landscape.
Lovely place, especially the walled garden, but not open very often, or consistently. Ok if youre a local and can easily drive by to see if theyre open that day, but not so great if youre on holiday trying to fit it into your trip plans.
Often closed. Not very accessible if you just want a walk in the walled gardens. Nice setting though, if booking for a mediaeval banquet.
Amazing Mead, Food, and entertainment. Very accommodating staff. Its a must see
Beautiful castle and interesting experience. The people dress in traditional garments and involve the group in songs and theater.
Stunning place we attended a wedding here so castle was closed to public but was beautiful place with turf fires burning definitely worth visiting
Great food, good show, beautiful castle. Went here with a tour and it was able to handle the size group very well. Similar to a medieval times without the jousting and with utensils.
This was the most enjoyable experiences in Ireland! Amazing music, drinks, people, and talent. It really made for an unforgettable evening.
This is a truly unforgettable experience, you can stay in the fantastic apartment and have the very exclusive use of the property. There is a medieval banquet each evening that you may attend and then just head upstairs to sitting room to relax before heading to bed.
I was a little concerned about this being too cheesy for me. It was cheesy but the musical talents of the folks over took that. The food was all good and the service was excellent. Very glad I went.
