Compact, old-school cafeteria dishing out hearty, homestyle Southern food classics.
The food was delicious! I wished I knew their recipe to the cornbread.
AMAZING food! My father loved it so much. If I could give 1000 stars I would.
Food was good. I didnt really get much portions for the meat even though I saw peoples plates before mine with more meat on in their to go, personal gripe. But that was my first time going and it kinda makes me not want to go back for a while at least.
Veggies and cornbread were not seasoned well. Workers with long hair should wear hair nets. Its a very old restaurant so everyone is probably set in their ways.
Bang-a-rang baby!!Best daggum ribs so tender and not at all greasy - nearly fallin off the bone. Best cole slaw Ive EVER had, cakes johnny (shoe-peg corn maam?Oh lawdy.. most kind folk that have forgotten more about making good soul food than most folk will ever know! Dining room is closed indefinitely - thank you COVID
As a small, family-owned restaurant, Kleer-Vu is the quintessential business in our local community to offer down-to-earth homestyle Southern cooking. Having been a staple to Murfreesboro for decades, Kleer-Vu should absolutely be visited for those in need of genuine good food cooked with passion with history to show.
Great home cooking food!!! Great prices too!!
Been a long time since I have been there. Today I really needed some comfort food. Enjoyed the food and will be back soon
Great food !! But stop thinking everyone is a Senior citizen 🤔
Kleer-Vu restaurant has some of the most delicious soul food in Murfreesboro.
If you want a home cooked meal this is the place to go. The restaurant is in a neighborhood and unassuming. They just cook great soul food. Food is great and cheap. Perfectly fried chicken and pinto beans are fabulous. Im here on business from SC and if I ever come back Im coming to Kleer Vu
My favorite place for ribs and greens on Fridays!! Been going here for as long as I can remember and the Friday menu is still the best soul food option!!
Best meat and 3 so delicious and has lots of flavor. Must try
Great desserts but food likes a little to be desired.
COVID broke my heart. I use to love going into the Chinese buffets and covid killed most of them. I didnt go into Kleer-Vu for over two years due to covid changing my work schedule. Now after going back to my old work schedule I finally got a chance to stop by for lunch.I was so glad to see they were still open but what really broke my heart was seeing all the seating taped off. Kleer-Vu used to be a great place to run into old friends and make new ones or just hang out long enough to do lunch during the day. Now it feels like its been kidnapped and tired up.Folks are still friendly and the food is as good as it ever was. The soul is still there too but behind glass and the customers are gone.I asked if they were going to open the dining room back up but they said they didnt know when that might happen. They are still concerned about covid and all the workers were wearing masks.I would have given them more than 5 stars even though the dining room is closed but all Google offers is 5.
The food is pretty good in my opinion plus its a small black owned business. The fried chicken is great and I like they serve peach cobbler as well. 👍
You go here for the food not the ambiance or service. BUT if you grew up in the south and need to feel like you are at grandmas having Sunday dinner then this is it. I wont list what I think is good because it is all good. All the food is good. All of it.
The people that answer the phone are so rude. They need to realize that they need the customers more than we need them. Treat your customers with respect. I wont be coming back. If you hate your job then quit!!!
Very good customer service and the food was great. No long waiting time sealed the deal with me. 💯💯
I Love to eat...and ppl say its not as good as it use to be but its still good to me...JUST NOT ENOUGH IN THE SERVINGS...
Their food is awesome! This is THE BEST soul food restaurant in The Boro! Only reason for four stars is the customer service. Their attitudes are not the greatest. 🤷🏻♀️
Kleer Vu does have decent food. I’m just not a fan of the location and out of date- ness of the place. No online ordering. No dine in due to Covid but the line moves very slowBecause they literally are serving onePerson at a time. A maskIs required. It is so not fun standing in the hot place with no air circulation with a mask on, especially in a long line that barelyMoves. I like Kleer Vu-I just wish they would modernize their operation a little.
I gotta say not a fan, I gave two stars because the staff was so friendly but for the same amount of money you could go to any Publix and get way better fried chicken and more food. To be fair, I went around 1:30pm so it was after the dinner rush but this food has competition in nursing home kitchens. Their peach cobbler was pretty great though, just not anything else.
Currently dine in closed but to go food still available. Best soul food in Murfreesboro. A little expensive but portions are big and you wont be hungry!
Come on KLEER VU. Treated a friend to my favorite home cooking in America and was soooo beyond disappointed ☹️. We both got fried chicken green beans & cabbage. The green beans were not fresh as the server lady said they were and that bird just wasnt what it used to be. People know the difference between fresh and canned food. No flavor! No flavor to any of it oh, the apples were ok. I dont know if you have different cooks then before the shut down or what, but please bring back the good ole KLEER VU. We drove from Gallatin only to be disappointed. Gas aint cheap!
Kleer-vu lunchroom has the best soul food that i have come across in Murfreesboro. I got the roast beef with gravy mashed potatoes and green beans with their hot water cornbread. The roast beef was tender and moist and came apart with the poke of a fork the gravy was well seasoned and paired perfectly with the homemade mashed potatoes which were light and creamy and full of flavor. The green beans had just the right hint of meat flavoring and for being served cafeteria style, were thankfully, NOT mushy. The macaroni and cheese was perfect. Mac and cheese is almost always a let down at most restaurants but kleer-vu clearly makes their food with all the love and dedication one uses when they cook for their family. The hot water cornbread was delicious as well.My daughters got the fried chicken and it was tender and juicy with a deliciously flavored crisp fried skin.Oh we will be back kleer-vu!! We family now. 😍❤
The food is beyond great! The folks who work there are just down home folks. And the price! You definitely get your moneys worth. What more can anyone ask for?
The food at Kleer-Vu is amazing! If you want a fantastic meat and three, this is the place to have lunch. The portions are generous and the food tastes like my grandmother used to make. Yum!
This is a Murfreesboro staple, and Ive loved them for years! Now is time to support where and when we can to keep places like this alive. Murfreesboro without Kleer Vu would be a sad place 🖤
Great food! I totally recommend them!!
My mother brought me lunch from here one day, I returned the next day and walked out with 3 plates for myself. This food reminded me of my grandmothers cooking. It was so delicious I had to try everything. It is a true diamond in the rough, you will not be disappointed.
This is some good soul food. Not a lot of healthy options, but youll get that rich gravy, mashed potatoes, meatloaf, greens, all the good stuff. This is a small place. Its cafeteria style. Youll wait in line. The floor feels unlevel, none of the furniture matches, thats not what this place is. If youre looking for fine dining, go somewhere else. If youre looking for that special off the beaten path southern meal thats like home cooking but better, this is your place.
Best kept meat and two restaurant in the boro! Outstanding fried chicken available daily as well as fried apples and macaroni and cheese, better than yo mama used to make. Hot water cornbread that is always outstanding and cold iced tea that goes so well with the meal! And price is very reasonable. I encourage you if traveling or local to go by and eat with the folks at Kleer-Vu Lunchroom, open until 6pm. You will not be sorry you did!
A great selection of good old southern comfort food! The hot water cornbread taste just like my childhood memories. The turnip greens tasted just like home! The fried chicken was very good and juicy, too! This is definitely a good place to find good seasoned food!!!
This place is honestly amazing. If you’re craving soulfood or just good southern cooking this is the place to go. You’ll have your plate put together with whatever you like by a sweet lady that calls you baby and tells you to eat up. They actually steep their sweet tea so it actually has flavor (the only way sweet tea should be made). Amazing Mac n cheese. Some of the best fried chicken. Gravy that is a close runner up to my mothers. Sweet people. Family feeling. Come here on a bitter cold day and leave feeling like life ain’t so bad.
This was the first time I had been to Kleer-Vu. I have heard good things about it. My customer comes here a lot and that says it all. If you did not know this place served food you would pass it up but dont you will enjoy every bite. Try the fried chicken and if you like greens, the greens. This is a beautiful part of middle Tennessee. The folks that staff the restaurant are friendly and helpful. The fried chicken is perfectly seasoned. Turnip greens, mashed potatoes, black eyed peas are our favorites. The tea is brisk and goes well with their homemade chess or fudge pie.
Stopped for lunch. The corn bread is "hot water corn bread" which is deep fried. My friend had the chicken and dressing while I had the ribs. Both were cooked to falling apart done and were tasty. Slaw is mayo based. The collards were good. The sweet potatoes are very sweet. Everyone is friendly and we would return again if traveling through. Very reasonably priced. 5 stars as a small locally owned lunch room.
I found a piece a metal In my spaghetti. Unfortunately when you eat out those things can happen! I saw it before I ate it.. I pray that there was nothing else in my food. The owner should have reimbursed me but she promised to give me a free plate next time.. no thanks I will be cooking for myself. A lesson well learned! Give it 1 🌟
Just like Grandmas house. Southern food cooked like its suppose to be. Homemade and not from a bag or box. We eat there several times a month. Kleer-Vu is very good. The food is seasoned well. Lots of cholestorol. So be careful. The cornbread is the bomb. It is in the hood, but no one will bother you. Its safe. Take a trip out. This is more than just a meat and three, there is love that you can taste! The greens were coked perfectly and they were super nice.
Good country cooking like both my grandmothers use to cook. Prices are cheap when compared to other restaurants and I eat out all the time in several other states. It was good to be back home.
Old time southern charm abounds in this soul food/southern diner restaurant that features fried chicken and ribs as Mainstays. The fried chicken was definitely good but the restaurant s version of a hush puppy was oddly flavored. Iced tea was not particularly flavorful either. Veggie sides are a definite plus with green beans, greens, Mac and cheese and more included in the platter price. Monday and Tuesday feature a senior discount of 10 percent as well
Best local food for the soul in this area ever!! A cornerstone of the city of Murfreesboro.
First time visiting last week. Got the roast beef with gravy, turnip greens and macaroni with cheese. The food tasted excellent except the macaroni but plain but didn’t taste bad. Nice portions, the hot water cornbread was cooked correct and taste good. The peach cobbler was off the chain!!! Probably one of the best I’ve ever tasted. Definitely going back.
We came back again after our visit in May and was not disappointed in any way. Tried chicken and dressing, was almost like Moms. Also go the peach cobbler and delicious. If you leave hungry, then its your fault.
Oh. My. Goodness!! Some of the best food Ive ever eaten! Had chicken and dressing, pinto beans, greens and peach cobbler just like my grandmother used to make. Atmosphere so homey and comfortable I didnt want to leave. ❤
Excellent food, good people, laid back atmosphere. An excellent place to grab lunch.
Just a little hole in the wall place, but they have the best fried chicken in town! Its a meat and three cafeteria style lunchroom. They usually have 3-4 meat choices and tons of veggie choices. Their peach cobbler is out-of-this-world good! So, save some room for dessert!
Love this soul food place! I have never gotten anything I didnt like! Love the ribs and fried chicken. The hot water cornbread is amazing! All the sides are delicious and save room for dessert, if youre lucky and they banana pudding get it, its the best Ive ever had! If not chocolate chess or peach cobbler is delicious!
The service is amazing. . The Fried chicken is my favorite!! Good ol southern cooking. The best peach cobbler which they serve everyday #winning. My two year is very picky but she gave them two thumbs up.
Me and my family just left and the food was amazing. Everything was good and I mean everything cause I ate all mine and sampled of 5 other plates. Service was great! Nice friendly. I will make this one of my places to eat.
