Massive redwood tree & tourist attraction with a drive-thru tunnel carved out of its trunk.
It is an easily accessible place just 1 minute from highway 101. It is a small place but very fascinating. Recommended for a little stop.
It cost us $5.00 to go through but it was so worth it. It was not crowded and we took our time taking photos.
Super cool - only cost $5. Id recommend having a spotter when you drive thru it.
The lady we gave our money to to get in was great. She made it worth while just talking to her.
This is an absolute must for roadside adventuring! The lady at the ticket both is awesome and its a windy but short drive to the tree...be careful going through! Totally fun and worth a stop. Youll only need 15 minutes, so go have fun!
Fun. Great adventure for the kids
One of thr coolest squeezes youll make through a magnificent Redwood! The klamath drive throu tree sits atop a little windy road up a hill. Cash monies are needed to get to it. Only $5 per car still/currently.Take your time to marvel at the majestically magically redwoods!
Amazing experience, closest drive thru tree if you are visiting the Redwood national parks from oregon side, other drive through trees are closer if you are coming from San Francisco.
With a small car its easy and a lot of fun. My daughter drove through with a Pacifica minivan where the folded in mirrors missed by about half an inch on each side.
Ive been here a couple times. Both times, the lady at the little pay booth was super nice; very calming vibe about her. I would almost visit again just to see her!Anyway, the tree - its super cool, and if its not busy, you can go as many times as you like and take a TON of pictures. Definitely a good stop if youre driving through the area.
This is really cool. Its just one tree. You pay 5$ for a car of 4. Then you drive up and go through the tree. The tree is super amazing. I was so scared to drive through it bc at first it doesnt seem big enough, but trust me it is!
Awesome experience driving thru a tree, a must do while driving on the 101. It’s a $5 fee to enter which is less than a Venti drink at your coffee shop! We had this place to our selfs at time we entered on a Friday afternoon 7.29.22. Kids are still talking about when we drove thru a big tree 🌲.
A fun stop for $5 a car. Nice lady at the gate and a gift shop.
The good news is it is only $5 so it is totally worth it. Its also right off the freeway. Thanks to my superior driving skills, our Toyota Sienna Van slid right through like I was throwing a hot dog down a hallway. I wanted to take a photo of the kids with the car in the tree but I couldnt open the doors to get out. It was so tight we couldnt even open the sliding doors. I wouldve had to crawl out the back, and Im way too lazy for that. So we parked in front of it and took some photos. If you end up there at the same time as a few other cars you will need to be patient. There isnt a lot of room or obvious way to cue up to approach the tree opening.
$5 to see a tree that was poorly cut to make the drive through. Pickups beware, it’s pretty tight. Not the original drive thru tree.
If you have a small car it might be worth it otherwise skip it. $5 to see a nice tree with a hole cut in it. Any other big tree is better
It was a fun experience. Our truck fit through with a few inches on each side. Kids loved driving through a living tree!
Such a fun experience! We just happened upon it but it was something we all wanted to do!
Was not what I was expecting but worth the $5. I was expecting some drive "tour" through a small forest or number of trees but its literally a few hundred foot drive and a single tree. Not bad though. Worth it for the pictures.
If youre expecting something absolutely ground shaking be prepared to be disappointed. It is just a hole in a tree which is cool but not much else pass that. We had to pay $8 to sit in a line and like others have said most cars dont fit.
Super awesome experience and a bit nerve wracking too! Definitely worth the very small fee, highly recommend for anyone with a vehicle that will fit! :)
There is an entry fee. Wasn’t really busy when we came. We waited for one vehicle that got there before us. The road was a bit narrow on the way to it. It was a challenge to drive our large van through but it fit! With the mirrors turned in tho 😅. Just one giant tree but it was fun trying to get it through. Glad it wasn’t busy it would been a wait if you get 4-5 large vehicles trying to get through.
If you’re driving along 101, this is a must stop. There is a $5 fee per vehicle. There was no attendant but they have this drop off to put your $5. My husband drove thru the tree, with our 2017 Chevy 2500 Silverado with our son guiding him, he is 8! Wish I can upload a video but pics don’t do justice on how majestic this Redwood tree is!
Its nice but not amazing. You wont fit with a large SUV. We went in a Tahoe and only fit the front engine into the tree before backing out.
There is something fascinating about these giant beautiful trees and even more fascinating is being able to drive your vehicle through it. There is a is a $5.00 fee to drive thru the redwood tree. The lady taking the fees was very friendly and kind- she has been doing this job for 34 years. Amazing. Is it worth it? We thought so.
I really loved the tranquility of this place. We did end up going on a perfect day thou, it was raining and thundering. On mothers day we were getting ready to check out from our hotel in smith river, when we got a call from my aunt. She asked us where we were and I told her we are exploring Klamath. Her first question was if we toured through the tree, and I was like no. She sounded way more excited than I was at that hour if the day. So when I googled and found this place was so super close to us, I decided it definitely was gonna be my 1st stop.As we drive on the empty road in hail and heavy rain, wipers going up and down, thanks to the big sign which said tour thru trees exit here, I was able to know where exactly iam going. An empty check in cabin stood in front of us with a sign that deposit $5 in the slot as the person has gone somewhere for some errands. We started making our way up the park on a narrow road. The moment I was surrounded by so much greenery, I was lost in the beauty of my surroundings. This is usually the place I YouTube when I want to put peaceful music in my living room. And here I was watching this place in real life. We entered the parking lot where a big tree stood right before us. No one in sight probably because of the weather which made us very lucky. I do have a jeep compass so it was a very tight fit to pass thru the tree but I did make it. I just stood there admiring that place before we hit the road . Its truly a gem. Now my pictures may not look like it was taken in rain but it was taken in rain, not even drizzle.I cant believe that one part of California is so serene. Coming from sf bay area all we see is the dry dry and dry. I close my eyes and I still picture this place. If it was not for the pictures Id definitely think it was a dream. Anyway I hope you all like my story coz it truly came from my heart. Pliz do visit them. Happy journey
Great little stop ! Hubbys only wish for our trip was to drive through a tree. They ask for $5.00 but it’s an honor system where you pay in a box .
I see some reviews saying it is free. It is NOT free, but it was just $5. It may have no one at the booth and it is a trust system that you pay into the slot. I only had one other group in front of me and so was able to enjoy it at my leisure. A great tree and pretty much something you *must* do in the Redwoods - drive through at least ONE tree.
A bit cheesy, but we had wanted to do it! Was affordable and no line when we were arrived. Afterwards I felt a little guilty about supporting something where a tree was maimed (obviously someone cut a van/car-sized hole through a tree that happened to be on their propertyfor monetary gain/silliness.
Fun little jaunt off the highway. We had fun driving through the tree. We had to tuck our Toyota Sienna mirrors in, but we fit!
It’s $5 to drive through. I was hoping that this would at least be a short drive through the forest, but I only drove through a narrow road, up a steep incline to a parking area big enough for maybe 3-4 vehicles. I wasn’t able to fit my Subaru through the tree even with my mirrors down. Interesting thing, but I wasn’t very impressed.
Would I ever bring myself to cut a car sized hole in a tree? Never. But was it a childhood dream fulfilled to drive a car through a tree. 100%. Its a simple operation and wasnt too busy when we got there. We had the tree to ourselves for probably 10 minutes. Its big and beautiful and a guilty pleasure to drive through. The lady at the booth was super nice, gave us a couple redwood cones and a bit of history. I would totally recommend this. Its memorable, unique and fun. And the damage has been done and wont be done again so enjoy.
Great roadside attraction! Easy on and off the exit - clear signage. We waited a bit to let the family ahead of get their pics in then we moved in for our own. The area was well cared for and super easy to drive thru - we opted not to drive our van with a cartop carrier thru! But, got some great photos nonetheless. Worth the stop!
This tree is so neat, it’s a cool little experience. We were near this place so we decided to cruise through. It’s $5 to drive through. Probably not something i’d recommend you go out of your way to do, but if you are driving by then yes stop and do it. The kids loved it!
FREE! Yes it was free and worth the stop before you head into the Redwoods. Let’s you have an idea what your going to see. We was the only ones there so we drove through it a couple of times and could take as much time as we wanted and that was in the morning. A Kia Soul had tons of room if that gives you an idea for size for your vehicle.
Quick little turn off the main road to be able to drive through a tree which is pretty cool! Its a TIGHT fit. Our small car had to fold in the mirrors. The cutest old lady runs the entrance and gave us a map and told us all about the best Redwood spots.***If you liked my review or found it to be helpful give it a thumbs up. 👍 thanks!
This is a fun experience. Love the RedWood Trees. 5 star review.
Sherry was very kind and informative women. The tree was great to go to and got see my first drive thru redwood tree. Will go again if in the area!
I was the only person there at 8:30 at night and it was awesome. I was traveling alone, so figuring out how to get out of my Jeep after pulling through the tree was a challenge. Thankful king I figured it out but unfortunately no one was there to document that 5 Minutes ordeal that was definitely well worth it.
Has a big billboard for the drive thru tree after Google takes you to the place. Reached early, no one on ticket booth but paid $5 in honor system. A tiny drive to the tree. The tunnel was very compact. Out tesla Model 3 just fitted with the side mirrors closed. But good fun thing to do.
Free. Easy to get to. Right off the road. Cute little large tree to drive thru with a small car... We parked our RV in the parking down below and walked up the steep little road to stand under the tree in these photos👍
Wonderful experience! We *Almost* fit out 3rd gen Dodge 2500 through. It was narrower at the front/exit than at the entrance. We fit 3/4 of the way through before both mirrors folded in were hitting the sides.Truck is a 3rd gen Dodge 2500 with a 4 inch lift on 35s. We had more than plenty height clearance.Payment was a $5 in the little toll slot at the unmanned entrance booth. Wasnt busy and overall a very worth it experience, we were glad to find something that could fit our truck when the other trees were way too small.
The tree is huge and neat to visit. Just a note to let you all know. Only small sized compact cars will be able to drive through. Otherwise just park down below and walk up. Still a nice place to bring the kids!!
Classic redwood forest tourist attraction, and a cool one! Dont miss it.A living tree you can drive through! A piece of California history.
Tree is huge. Was a really cool experience but be prepared to clean sap off your car or motorcycles as the inside drips sap.$5 for cars$3 motorcycles
Fun activity, $5, takes around 5 minutes. They only take CASH so be aware of that. The lady working the booth was super sweet and gave good advice for good pictures. Not super impressive but it is cool to be able to say youve driven through a tree.
One of the most beautiful experiences Ive ever had I never thought that walking with the redwood trees would be such an amazing time. I initially went out there because my pops wasnt doing so well being a smoker at such a young age had taken a toll on his lungs that and hes never been camping so by the time we were out in Crescent City and took the tour van known as Adventures in the Redwoods which is very highly recommended by me. Seeing my parents so close and enjoying the little find things in life like a breath of fresh air is just breathtaking to me. And yes an Econoline F350 squeezed right on in between that tree and made it without scratching I was skeptical myself but my jaw dropped when we made it through.
We loved this drive thru tree. Peaceful, beautiful and nice people. The lady working told us she had been waiting all day for us. If you do one drive thru tree, pick this one.
This was a fun stop and something the kids will definitely want to experience. Nice paved road up to it and well organized. There are path ways past the tree itself that we did not get on but they looked nice. Fold your mirrors and you should fit fine but dont bring a trailer up as its a tight spot to be turning in.
For a reason unknown to me, my husband has always wanted to drive through a redwood (we all have our own bucket list, folks). We were there early- 8:30am- and no one was manning the gate but theres a honor system box to leave your $5 and we did, mostly because the sign says, "We trust you!" and I didnt want to ruin it for everyone. We had a rental Chevy Traverse and if we would have had anything larger, we wouldnt have made it through the tree. Theres a steep uphill and sharp turn approaching the tree that you are warned about. Dont do this in a dually pickup or RV!Yes, its a tourist trap but they dont rip you off. There was no one around when we were there so we had lots of time to take pictures and walk inside the tree (pretty neat). Its a drive through tree, friends. Thats it. If youre expecting balloons and fireworks and a giant gift shop and public bathrooms, go down the street to the real tourist trap, Trees of Mystery.
