Kitty Coleman Woodland Gardens - Park and Garden in Courtenay, Canada
This is such a hidden gem in the Comox Valley! Imagine a sprawling wooden garden with trails that wrap around ponds with enchanting music playing in the background and thats what you have here. Theres an artisan festival each summer, live performances and the Christmas lights with Santas village is a must-see experience!
Such a neat place, but for more interesting when the rhododendrons are in bloom.
Well laid out with beautiful lawn and gardens.
Lovely gardens and great art on display.
Definitely best in late spring, but still a lovely woodland walk. A little more signage would help if it was coordinated with the map as we got "lost" a couple of times.
An enchanted walk through spectacular trails, ponds, and flowers. This is a wonderful place to spend a few hours exploring. 5 Stars.
Went to woodland gardens this last weekend for the first time for a wedding and it is amazing.
Was fabulous 👌
A very relaxing walk through the tree
We liked the stone labyrinth and the stage. The river was definitly romantic. The paths were soft for walking. Looking forward to attend a music event.
Went there for the first time for the art festival. What a great time. Beautiful grounds and fun little mazes to explore nature. Wonderful
Christmas walk through the woods was magical! Music, lights, and even a visit with Santa. Great place to do Family Christmas Photos!
If its Nov - dont go. I bet this place is amazing in the summer though, and seems the barn is being decorated for Xmas. Determinedly found the labyrinth through the very overgrown sodden paths.
The Rhododendrons are beautiful and there are some nice spots here but it could use some new signage and some maintenance. Rustic for sure.
Nice walk if you stay on the wider paths, some paths not recommended, some sign posts would be helpful.
Beautiful Place you must check it out!!!!!
Sad and tired location. Unsafe - no staff, no maps, just a poorly maintained tangle of paths in somebodys backyard forest. Followed "more exhibit" signs which led to "more exhibit" signs and sat on a rotten bench full of wood-bugs.This might be nice for an art show or a concert event, but seems more of a liability to invite the public here to walk around. This is not a stand-alone attraction worth $8, maybe by donation?Added note: Its all rhodos, so might be nice when theyre in bloom. We didnt see any flowers in August.
Beautiful gardens, huge grounds, often music, a Christmas light display, an absolutely wonderful, magical place.
Nice walk
Fantastic walk around the woods. Gorgeous rhododendrons.
I took my wife to the gardens for Mothers Day, and overall we were a bit disappointed. We love the blending of cultivated gardens with the natural woodland environment, but found the experience was let down by obvious years of neglected maintenance. Most of the paths are very narrow due to lack of pruning, and in places where large shrubs like rhodos are totally overgrowing the path, theyre rather clumsily and ineffectively tied off to nearby trees. We took one path that led us along a sharp drop down to the creek, that honestly felt dangerous. We did have a stroller, but even without it would have been watching our footing very carefully. Along that path we encountered a sort of gazebo that was rotting/falling over, but strapped and chained to a tree... that had grown around the chain, so clearly left that way for years. Why it wasnt just torn down is beyond me. All of that being said, the Woodland Gardens have an abundance of serene and beautiful nature, many lovely ponds, and great grassy spots for picnics. The issues are all around maintenance and accessibility.
Very nice place, it makes you feel special to be in their gardens. Nice to take a walk anytime of the day and relax in one of their special baches
Nice I guess. Just drove by.
The airsoft was good idk how the gardens are tho
Honestly I expected a lot out of this place. I was disappointed when I got there. The trails were totally unkempt. We could not figure out the best path to get to various locations.
Went to an art show here. Absolutely beautiful venue with small groups of vendors scattered around the property.
Great place to explore in both the summer and fall. Its very relaxing and pretty on the grounds.
Could easily spend hours there.
Interesting driftwood and sculptures. Nice place for a picnic. There is an honor system fee of $8/person.
Great park for a walk through and enjoy what mother.nature has.
Fantastic family run business. Beautiful gardens. Brian and his family are all so friendly and make visiting a great experience.
Great placeWent there for a weddingNeat event in a magical environment
It was ok! Maybe in the evening is better, looks like they might have lights on then.
Kitty Coleman Woodland Gardens are always a treat to wander throughout its grounds during the spring to autumn months.Spring is particularly enchanting with the hundreds of glorious rhododendrons in a rainbow of colors blooming amongst a natural background. Pretty ponds with unique fountains make these areas a cool reprieve on warm weather days. Plenty of novel types seating provided along ambling trails..Art Festivals held here, are always a lovely way to spend a couple hours enjoying & purchasing spectacular creations by local artists . Plus there is a added bonus of listening to soft, melodic melodies by various talented musicians while enjoying the sights. Couple of food venues are available for purchasing limited variety of munchies.Areas of the grounds are frequently rented for weddings & group events.
Relaxing walk through the woods. We went for the art and bloom artists market and picked up some cool locally made decorations for our home. Costs 10$ ea to get in. They have another market in September on the long weekend too.
What a fabulous piece of property to visit. It is a magical place
Awesome place but no outhouse/toilets.
Went to the Artisan festival.Awesome venue. Not crowded as Fillburg or Comox Marina. No to many repetitive artists.Nice and cool in the trees. Parking can be a bit of a walk.
Beautiful setting. Lovely walk.
A wonderful open space with mainland mountain vistas across the straight of tidal current flows the sounds of lapping waves playing around seal barks raven calls eagle being chased away by a murder of crows there for all to enjoy in perpetuity, thank-you Kitty Coleman I would have liked to havemet you.
Loved it ! It was so peceful . We will be back for sure in the spring to see it with the flowers!
Beautiful gardens, lots of art hidden around to find.
Had a great time here today ,beautiful and peaceful.
This place is incredible! So much to find
Such a magical place! Theres so much to explore here, from the more rugged trails by the river to many easy trails winding throughout the park by lakes and ponds.
Very cool garden ... looks like its for saleWorth checking out ..
Magical woodland paths and natural sculptures; a meditative, secluded trail. See if you can find the hidden labyrinth. October has amazing wild mushrooms along paths and mystical open groves within the woods. This is one of the places that made us fall in love with the Comox Valley.
Very cool natural garden setting. Lots of very nice paths, a creek and great open spaces. Hopefully Katy the dog will follow you around. Owners are very nice.
It is a beautiful walk with the water features , wishing it was spring though to see the flowers, must be amazing. Still a nice place to spend some time walking and taking in nature.
Best Christmas setup I have seen. A family favorite.
