Kitchener Memorial Parking - Tourist attraction in Kirkwall, United Kingdom
Great place to visit if you are in the area, 1km trek from car park uphill not suitable for the infirm but well worth the hike, Absolutely breathtaking "literally" views. Very moving tribute.
Another lovely walk on Orkney.
Handy place to park if you want to walk to the memorial. There was no other vehicle there.
Beautiful scenery
Great no one else was there in June.
Great views. Sad to see all the lost young lives.
Stunning views and history.
Very thought provoking. Quite a steep 1km climb to get there, but well worth it.
Its a a gravel parking area, also has space for a coach or too.Youll see the deck gun and the obvious sign posting to go up the hill to the cliff top.You should also be able to see the memorial too. Its a nice memorial and a beautiful view.Sometimes of year youll be able to see puffins, seals, dolphins and whales along this coastline
Very interesting memorial to a WW1 tragedy. Great information boards
Love this place.
Its a parking space for the Kitchener memorial.
Quite a small car park for a wonderful place to visit.
Parking area is small, accommodating perhaps 8 cars with careful parking. This is not a comment on the walk to and the Memorial itself - the scenery is beautiful, even breath taking
Free off road parking. About a 20 min walk from the headland and memorial.
Needs to have a bigger parking area...
Bit of a trek to top of the hill interesting views
Nice walk up to the memorial (after the initial 7 minutes of walking alongside the field).Fantastic views from the cliff tops . Memorial itself is not open, but you can walk around the outside which has all the names of the people lost.
Great walk
Beautiful sea cliff views complete with Puffins!
Ein unglaublich toller Ort. Sehr informativ und für Fotografen interessant.
Its a nice memorial tower outshined by the views. When you get to the top of the hill from the car park. Turn right (away from the towerto get some great views of the cliffs.
A war memorial very well looked after, with excellent view to the surroundings. Pay attention to the warning notices posted at the cliff edges.
Very long walk and not on level ground. Once you get out there the sea line is pretty
Nice place to start to go and look at the sea birds as the memorial is in the RSPB reserve
Tolle Klippen an der rauen See mit vielen brütenden Vogelarten. Wir haben Papageientaucher gesehen. Sehr beeindruckender Ort.
A large stone tower erected to the memory of Field Marshal Earl Kitchener of Khartoum and his men who died near the site on the H.M.S. Hampshire on 5th June 1916.
Lovely views
A short walk from the memorial, but the view from the actual memorial is fantastic on a nice day.
Room for about 5/6 cars
Good parking but please be careful how you park as there is a farm track that’s regularly used.
Worth the long walk. Breath taking
Its a short walk to the memorial from the car park. Can get very windy.
Toller Platz für ein Picknick, Vogelbeobachtung und Wandern.
Spectacular
Un bonito sitio para ir a dar un paseo y ver pájaros junto al mar
Enough room for 4 or 5 cars with a bin if needed
Mit den ganzen Vögeln in den Felsklippen war es schon ganz schön schön.
Love this place not only for the memorial but the wildlife! Its a major breeding site for sea birds. Stunning views of the sea cliffs and surrounding area. x
Simply a parking area for walk to the Kitchener memorial which is worth the trek. Outstanding views. Interesting site.
Great views and a place for thinking, remembering and being thankful for the sacrifices others have given
Great place and not muddy but no actual facilities like toilets.
Great views and interesting information
The view from the cliff is breathtaking.
Very moving monument to some very brave sailors
Fantastyczne widoki przemiłe króliki, można obserwować mewy i inne ptaki
The parking area is very small, that said it doesnt seem to get too busy, we didnt have any trouble finding a place. The cliffs at Marwick Head and the Kitchener Memorial are a pleasant walk from the car park, which took around 15 minutes. Once there the views along the cliffs are stunning and the memorial very interesting. Be aware, the cliffs are unfenced, this is not a place to let dogs and children roam freely.
Its just amazing. Both the history and scenery are amazing, not to mention the wildlife.
