Super stay overnight.
Superb
The place is lovely, clean and comfortable. Just around around the corner from the main Street. High recommend.
Very welcoming friendly and accommodating. The room was clean, airy and a lot more comfortable than some Hotels we have stayed in! A much appreciated stay - thank you xx
Wrote previous review but forgot to add - my biggest bugbear was that it was really hard to get hold of the hostel before I arrived. It was hard to get a response over the phone or over email to book the room, and then follow up questions about bike storage and WiFi were ignored. Even when I chased. This was a bit stressful before I arrived. But when I did, I found the host extremely friendly.
Laid back , great communication, affordable and really good base to explore Orkney from , I feel nostalgic about my time there - will be back hopefully .Thankyou!
I always stay here when catching the early ferry to the islands. Its a laid back place with the amenities you need/want. Brilliant location close to centre of town, and overlooking the harbour.
Lovely and warm stay.I was on the island for a day trip. Due to the sudden change of weather and sea storm, there was no ferries back to John OGroats. So I arrived here in the cold wet evening asking if they have room available. A nice lady who lived in one of the bunk bed rooms was very kind to ring the hotel manager. I talked to the hotel manager on the phone and she got me a nice corner room on ground floor which I really like. The room with shared shower room is very clean and nicely decorated. It comes with a tv, fire burning place and few books. Bed is comfortable. The manager didnt overcharge me.That was few years ago and I still feel thankful until today. My only regret is I only stayed here for a night and could have stayed longer as Orkney is really a nice place for sightseeing and to learn about the history.
Absolutely loved it!!! Very friendly and amazing lady would highly recommend it!!
Okayish. I didnt get to meet anyone on arrival or on departure but all went smoothly. The room in itself and the bed were good enough (a bit low for people taller than 6"). The kitchen was really small however, and I dont remember having seen any common space to hangout. It was enough for a one-night stay before boarding a ferry early in the morning but I dont know whether I would have stayed longer. Didnt leave me amazing memories. But very conveniently located that is.
Very clean and tidy and a good central location.
I couldnt get a bed i arrived late phone number didnt answer
Great. Love it . Can cook. Very clean. Hot water
Super
Clean rooms and bathrooms, good location
It was an ok stay
Lovely hostel. Very close to ferries, bus station and town centre. An easy walk and interesting. Very friendly and helpful people. Love it. My fourth visit to this hostel and my 13th to Kirkwall and the Orkney Isles
Comfortable bed and very clean big bathroom. Ideally located near Kirkwall Travel Centre. Kitchen provides everything you need and theres a warm and comfy living room.
Friendly, clean, secure with full amenities.
An inexpensive, quiet, clean, practical and welcoming home from home. All the comforts to enjoy and relax at your leisure. Perfect location in the town and by the pier for you to explore the archipelago. Which you should. :-)
The best hostel I ever been
So clean, coffee, tea supplied and comfortable beds , plenty kitchens and shower rooms and lovely lounge , highly recomend
Everything was perfect! Our rooms were clean and comfy, the bathrooms and kitchens are big and well ventilated. There are lockers available which is very useful if you want to spend your last ours in Kirkwall after the check out. Liz is amazing, she contacted us after one of my friends left something in the room, thanks to her my friend didnt lose her debit card :(. We had a great stay, thank you Liz!
Great place. Everything was waiting for me at 11.30pm..just as arranged. Very comfy bed good kitchen facilities. Right in the coast near to Orkney ferry port and just a short bus ride on the x10 from Aberdeen.. kirkwall ferry. Bus waiting as ferry disembarked. Bus stop just outside hostel. Super easy. Thanks very much Peedie Hostel.
Very clean. First class facilities. Excellant value for money
Perfectly good accommodation for people needing a good nights sleep at very reasonable prices. Clean and central
Has everything you need in a hostel. Great location in Kirkwall.
Its little but has everything you need, owners are friendly and helpful, beds comfy.
Nice and quiet. Easy.
Location is great, perfect for getting the ferry from Aberdeen, just ask the bus driver to drop you off. Rooms are basic but warm and the shower/kitchen areas are well furnished and clean. WiFi is free but a bit slow, it depends where you are in the hostel. Overall perfect for a quick overnight stay and a good little hostel.
Very warm and welcoming bright and clean as well as comfortable there is a kitchen separate shower and toilet but very well maintained highly recommend
It was very hard to get ahold of people and we ended up not staying because we couldnt get ahold of Liz to let us into a room. Very cheap place to stay and if you can get ahold of an owner then im sure its a nice place to sleep.
Great "peedie" hostel👍
Perfect family run hostel, great stop over.
Pretty good hostel, clean with plenty of space in the rooms and nice kitchen and common rooms upstairs. Its in a good spot in Kirkwall near some nice pubs and the ferry pier. You dont really see the owners much as they have a self check in system but they are easy to communicate with to organise your stay. Security in the downstairs dorm rooms is not awesome. If one of your roommates forgets to lock the door while they are up in the kitchen etc the room is effectively open to the main street as the front door is not locked. Aside from that i would recommend staying here.
There are a few pros to this Hostel 1Location 2View 3Cleanliness 4Cheap, but unfortunately none of that matters when the customer service is shocking!Last weekend I was with a party of 8 staying in the hostel for 3 nights, after an unexpected visit by the owner on Saturday afternoon we were made homeless! The reason - he didnt realise you were down for a birthday party and we dont want any trouble!! Nothing on the website states what guests they do not allow in the Hostel, we were treated like children as Chris (the ownercounted down from 10 as he tried to throw us out, he also has the cheek to still ask for the money for the 2 nights which we wouldnt be staying!Warning - just be careful when booking here as if your face does not fit then you could find yourself without any accommodation!Dont tar all people with the same brush, not all people on a weekend break are hooligans some just want a change of sceneryCan 100% say I would never recommend this place to any of my friends or family as I wouldnt like to see them stranded without a bed
This was the best Hostal our group of six motorcyclists were in during our holiday in Orkneyand the North of Scotland. The bedrooms, kitchen and common room were excellent. We spent three nights there and the price per night is real budget price. Dont miss outon this one when in Orkney.Hugh Killin
Lovely wee hostel right by the harbour in Kirkwall. Friendly and efficient service. We stayed in the family annex which was great. It has a wee kitchen, lounge area with telly a wee shower room and a bedroom with 4 bunks and storage for luggage. Great facilities for a hostel.
