The staff was very friendly and accommodating. The area was awesome, accessible to a lot of places (restaurant, groceries, transit). The hotel itself is clean and has a very 90’s feel decor. The rooms are small but it did the trick for a one night stay. A quiet neighbourhood. I am not a fan of shared washroom, but they keep theirs very clean. Would definitely recommend this place to someone who is looking for an inexpensive place to stay in the city

I stayed there a couple of years ago during the summer. Paid close to $200/night for a tiny room for two people that had a twin bed (read: less than a double bedwith no AC. The bed was about half of the room. If you are a pair of larger travelers, seek acomodations elsewhere. It was really clean though, and was the least expensive option in that part of the city at that time. Just be aware that the rooms can be very small to the point that you will open the door to look at your room and either laugh or cry.

The hotel was good but the room was very small. When we booked we did not know that it has shared bathroom we requsted for a change but it was full. It was a first time we had such kind of experiance and I would say it was very difficult. There was Wash basin in the room but the water system (Mixerwas very difficult. Either very cold or very hot.Its kinda noisy. You can hear the doors, walking and talking sound from your next door in your room. The breakfast area was so small but the breakfast was so good. The hotel looks like an old building, the location was perfect and near by the Train Station, Malls and Restraunts.

Budget bed and breakfast. Their bed sheets are stained. The temperature control in the rooms seem defective. The breakfast lady and the concierge are mostly very pleasant and are keen to assist visitors.

The only reason I gave 3 star and not 4 Is because this Place Is a bit old. It should need a little modernization dealing with room. On the other hand I think Kingston hotel Is really beautiful and confy. It gave me the chance to stay in the middle of downtown of Vancouver, have a good rest for a good price, compared to others hotel, a close parking for my car (probably a bit expensive but anyway really close and confy), the right breakfast for the right cost of the stay. In general I think Is a really pretty place and people look kind, polite and indulgent. Rooms are small but full of every Little detail and necessity I had. Kingston hotel Is tidy and not dirty. It has all the facilities I request from an hotel so I really suggest this place. I had a beautiful holiday in Vancouver and I have to be thankfull to this hotel for this as well.

We loved this place. The rooms are very small and simple, have shared bathrooms and showers (it was built as a boarding house in the early 1900s, so picture that), with no TV...and we loved it. Amazing location especially for the price! Our room and the shared bathrooms were meticulously clean. Staff was kind. The free breakfast in the small front room looked adorable. It was infinitely charming. If you are looking for modern amenities and a standard modern hotel room, dont come here as you will disappointed like the other reviewers leaving low ratings who perhaps didnt read the hotel description prior to booking! If youre looking for a charming, old fashioned and boutique experience at a great price in an even greater location, stay here.We plan to make this place our regular hotel for when we spend nights in the city.

This Hotel is ok, as long as you know what to expect. Pros: 1 - One of the least expensive options. 2 - Great location downtown 3 - Friendly staff 4 - Breakfast included. Cons: 1 - Most rooms have shared bathroom. While they are relatively clean and private, its an annoyance and you can be waiting for your shower. 2 - ventilation is weak: there is no AC and the windows does not open fully. On warm days it can be problematic, despite the small fan provided. 3 - There is a smell in this hotel (that youll get as soon as you enter the lobby). While I got use to it, I get while some people complaints about it. 4 - Sound proofing is weak. Again this is only problematic if you have noisi neighbors (which wasnt my case), but I easily see how this could create frustration. In conclusion, despite the negative, given how expensive Vancouver is, this hotel does a good job of providing a bed where you feel safe without costing you too much.

Think of a hostel in the ‘80’s with old fashioned polite service, shared bathrooms and a community breakfast room. Yes the rooms and beds are small but do you want to spend your time sitting in a room? The location is magical and I hope this building survives modernisation. Thanks Simon for your understanding service.

I love this historical hotel, it is basic, yet clean and comfortable. The location is terrific, close to wonderful restaurants, shopping and the waterfront. Complimentary breakfast and delicious coffee in the breakfast room. Travelling alone, I was a little nervous about the shared washroom, but felt very safe once I met some of the nice people staying there.

Its a very charming structure. Very reminiscent of an era from which the structure has been built. However, the interior can use some update. For example, rooms can really be rid of carpeting. Rugs harbor scents that makes the place smell unclean. Also, sinks would be really nice where the toilets are. One saving Grace, the desk clerk, who happens to help us during breakfast as well, was very helpful and pleasant. Couldnt say I would stay in this place again. Maybe in desperation.

Location is good and if you are looking for an easy place to crash it probably wouldn’t be too bad. But for a romantic, affordable stay downtown this is NOT the place. No women’s bathroom on floor and the accessible women’s shower on our floor was out of commission. Also someone shaved in the sink and nobody cleaned it up which was pretty gross. Probably should have read the reviews before booking because we would have stayed somewhere else so we could have a bathroom and air conditioning.

A very clean and nice hotel close to the city center, and cruise port. We spent the night and toured the city. The rooms are small and there is a shared hallway bath, but we are use to this European style. They provide a robe and slippers. The breakfast is simple continental. Bagels, toast etc, the coffee was excellent. For a short stay this hotel is great. We do not mind small, as long as its clean and friendly which this is. The walk to the cruise port is about 1 km, and slightly downhill so it very easy with your suitcases.

The customer service was really good. The hotel has a great location, you can walk all over downtown from there. It is close to the gastown, bars, shops and restaurants. The room was very basic, nothing fancy at all. Just clean and good for going to sleep. The regular rooms dont come with private bathroom, so make sure you book yours including the bathroom which increases the price to double. They also have a restaurant right next door where you get 15% off.

The location of the hotel is amazing. Staff is really good too, they gave us a lot of tips and discounts for the attractions of Vancouver. At the time of our stay the hotel had only a few guests, so we didnt have any problems with the shared washrooms. Maintenance and internet could be a lot better. Breakfast is good but they could offer a greater variety of food.

What you dont get there for the lower price is big rooms, air-conditioning, private bathroom, or huge beds. What you get is simple accomodations, small rooms, shared bathroom. Everything is clean well taken care and despite being old it feels good quality.

Nice little hotel in a very central location in Vancouver. The building is old, but very well maintained. Rooms are small, but is a great place to crash for a night or two if you want to see the city. Our room did not have a bathroom, but there are 2-3 bathrooms located on each floor that are very clean and well maintained. Very fast WiFi as well. Would recommend, but do not expect the Ritz.

Quaint, friendly staff, continental breakfast, clean and tidy. I booked a room with a shared bathroom. I thought it might be strange; it was good. Zero concerns or issues. Local, right downtown Vancouver, I was able to walk to Rogers Arena, $30 charge for parking my car at the Telus parkade for the night (right nextdoor). Very reasonable considering Rogers Arena wanted to charge me the same for 4 hrs. 15% food at the Kingston bar and grill (in the same building). Free wifi. There is a sink in the room; shower and toilet in shared bathroom just down the hall. I would definitely book here again. (Dont mind the mess in the pictures of the room. Thats from me.)

Such a homey feel. From the interior decoration that makes me feel like I’m back at my grandmas home, to the lovely staff members on site. I highly recommend Kingston. Located central to everything downtown, it’s literally a 5 minutes walk to the Vancouver Art Gallery and the major shopping area.We chose a room that had shared bathrooms and this was no issue for us. I never had to wait for the restroom. They even have separate showers for women so you feel safe. There’s a sauna room too! Rooms were small but not overly small, perfect for me and my hubby. We stayed 4 nights and appreciated how the window opened up to let airflow through.Laundry onsite is practical and appreciated. It’s CAD 2.50 for a wash or a dry (60 minutes and my boat load of stuff was dry.and their machines operate better than typical coin laundry places. You do need exact $1 and $0.25 coins to operate. Kindly ask the front desk if you need change. No refrigerator or microwaves in the room, but there is a communal fridge in the Laundry room.Breakfast is continental style, served in the front foyer of the lobby from 7-10. Find orange juice, green and black tea, coffee, toast and cereal.WiFi works really well throughout the hotel. Parking is around CAD 30 for 24 hours and is optional, but downtown lacks free parking over night so this is a good bet. The building next door to Kingston Hotel is where you’ll park after checking in.

Really excellent little place. We got a room with a private bath, but there are also rooms with shared communal showers and washrooms on each floor. Its a great old rooming house turned into a pretty nice little hotel. Each room has one key (make sure you remember to lock the door when you leave your room, the doors do not lock automaticallythat you turn into the desk when you leave the building, and pick up when you come back. They offer a continental breakfast in a cute breakfast room, and 15% off meals in the adjacent restaurant. Bed and pillows are super comfy, and everything is very clean. Dont go expecting a chic contemporary experience, everything here feels quaint and homey. Very comfortable.

Old fashioned bed and breakfast right in downtown Vancouver. The rooms are very small and have no bathrooms. Instead there are communal mens and ladies bathrooms on each floor. The price is much cheaper than any other hotel in downtown Vancouver so its a perfect place if youre looking for the cheapest option. I would stay at the Kingston hotel bed and breakfast again.

The hotel was quaint. It was not clear online that there was no bathroom or shower in the hotel room but it was shared among all the guests on the floor which made it interesting to say the least. The rooms were also very small and the breakfast was only cereal and a toasted bagel which was extremely lacking in my opinion. Overall it is ok for a budget hotel in the middle of vancouver but I would not stay there again for the bathroom issue alone.

I stayed here in the summer of 2012, so I can only say what Kingston Hotel was like 5 years ago. I had a great experience. The room was small but in good condition. It had a view of the street. The bed was clean and comfortable, better than it looks in the pictures, I think. The shared bathroom situation was fine. They were very clean and set up nicely so you still have some privacy. There was also a small unisex bathroom (on each floor I thinkthat locked and had a toilet, sink, and shower, which might be nice if you dont feel comfortable in the shared bathrooms. Breakfast was basic, but tasted good and the location cant be beat. I spent a week there and didnt have a car and didnt feel like I needed one.

At a glance, this place seems alright. It has a lovely location but the experience is anything but lovely. In my 2 night experience with Kingston, I found a mouse that followed me around, even after changing rooms. What I disliked most was the managements refusal to do anything, even going to the point of lying about sending in pest control. While I was checking out, I also over heard a couple complaining about bed bugs, which was received with usual dismissal by management. Though it my have an alluring location, I suggest staying away from it at all costs.

The guy who checked me in had a stick you-know-where, but the rest of the staff was friendly enough. The bed was comfy, but the sink in the room had a faucet that had to be held on. Plus, shared bathrooms/showers for the hall, which would suck on a busy day. Location is basically perfect.

While the Kingston Hotel may not mesh with the common image of a "Bed and Breakfast," it does literally offer both of these - at a very good price given the prime downtown Vancouver location. Yes, the rooms are small by todays standards, but we got two adjacent, connecting rooms for less than a single room most anywhere else downtown, and this allowed our son to comfortably sleep separately from us (and go to bed earlierin his own, comfortable bed. The rooms do lack air-conditioning, but even in the midst of a record-setting late-June Vancouver "heat wave" we left the windows open by day and slept comfortably at night with them closed (to keep out street noise- Vancouver cools down nicely at night, offering good "sleeping weather." We did not have a car (having taken the train up from Seattleand were happy for it - we walked, took transit, and rented bikes (from Simons Bike Shopand the Kingston was a superb base for this - the perfect location. Everything was kept clean and in good working order; our room had a TV with cable and a full bathroom, though our sons smaller room no TV and only a sink. The staff was very polite, kind, and helpful, without exception (as were most folks in Vancouver!and went out of their way to help us enjoy our stay. The owner works the front desk himself, as does his very hard-working son who offered us lots of good advice (though on the restaurant front, we would recommend instead the unassuming Irashai on W Pender for amazing Japanese and sushi; just dont try to get in at peak times!). Breakfast was simple, toast or a choice of two bagel flavors (sesame or cinnamon raisin), made to order, with simple topping options and orange juice or a hot beverage. We did not get bored with breakfast over our week stay, but did supplement some mornings with croissants from Footo. Overall, we would definitely stay here again, with value for the price being the biggest draw and the helpful staff a close second.

Stayed for four nights in the hotel to attend a conference in the Vancouver Convention Centre. The room is clean, maybe small but no A/C (fan included though). That can be problematic during summer, it can be very hot inside the room. The staff is very polite and friendly, they will prepare your breakfast every morning for you! It is nicely well located in downtown Vancouver (15 mins walk to the Convention Centreand just a block away from the SkyTrain (thats very useful if you travel by air).

Kingston has 5 star service for a great price! EVERYONE WAS REALLY NICE. Awesome location, clean and affordable. Charming building with a history! Loved the original glass knobs on the interior door and the remodels keeping the integrity of the building intacted. They treated us to a bagel and orange juice breakfast that they personally toasted and served.Room was comfortable, clean and quiet. They let us print our airline tickets out and did not try to nickle and dime us. Very helpful with directions and things to do. Our room had 2 double beds with a private bathroom and it was just perfect for My Mom and I. We would stay her again in a heartbeat! I recommend Kingston Hotel to everyone. 2 short blocks from the train station, buses & shopping everywhere, gas town a couple blocks up, Stanley Park a short bus ride 10 mins on the # 19.Just cannot get over how nice everyone in Vancouver was and what great treatment and service we received at Kingston Bead and Breakfast! Thank U!

Hi :-We are an Family from Denmark, and we stayed 2 weeks on Kingston Hotet Bed & Breakfast. It was a pleasure! The hotel help us to book to suit with own bathroom...there are washroom, dryer, iron and ironing board practical necessities when you stay for such a long time. Nice that we every day get a smile and nice small talks with the staff. Specially one of the boys was into the talking with the lobby staff...maybe therfore he get and "Kingston communicator" the day we left the hotel :-D LOL it was a pen with a light, so there are no excuses for not doing homework the night before. A estimates humor :-D and really a great place and the staff are nice, helpfull and ready to solve problems or finding out any quistions you may have. If you want to stay cheap, good, downtaown and sleep in a good bed then book here! Best regards from Anette, Ivan, Oscar and Hasse
