King of Falafel - Restaurant in Madison, United States
Delicious! Great customer service and great pricing. Will definitely eat here again.
I have been a long time fan of King of Falafel. The falafel sandwich and fries is a fantastic lunch or dinner. The previous owners were quite nice and made great food. The new owner is also quite nice and the falafel sandwich and the French fries are even better. The humous is also quite good.
Ordered online and my order was cancelled through the 3rd party I used because the restaurant couldn’t be reached, but then my food arrived 3 days later on my doorstep right before a rainstorm.
Had gyro lunch. Food was very good. Lamb was well seasoned. Could use red onions instead of white and and more tomato. Pita was soft and warm.. could be a little larger to hold more condiments. Best to order ahead.Best value is two for 15.99 lunch
King of Falafel was our favorite restaurant many years ago, and when we returned to Madison for a visit last summer, we were thrilled to find that theyd reopened. Their new gas station location has very little ambiance, but for takeout, this place cannot be beat!! The food was absolutely delicious, with the best rice weve ever had and wonderful shawarma, and a great deal besides. If we still lived in Madison, wed eat there all the time! We hope they will one day have a restaurant again too, but in the meantime this is truly a hidden gem.
Stopped in for lunch, very friendly and awesome 2 meal special, we went with the chicken Shawarma and was very tasty, definitely drew some attention while eating it as well back at work! Will definitely be back for more and others!
It takes for every never go back again the food is very bad test
We sampled a nice mix of the menu including falafel (king is spot on), the fries (crispy and delicious), chicken, and the hummus. Will return
The worst gyros I ever had. I got these big chunks of beef/lamb instead of thinly sliced as its supposed to be. I asked for extra sauce but didnt get it. Bad business
Amazing falafel. Definitely the best one I have ever had and that includes falafel Ive made myself. The fries were excellent as well and there was plenty of them. Price quite reasonable and service was friendly and kind. Bathroom in adjacent gas station was clean and tidy. Next time I am in Madison I will definitely be stopping here for another falafel.
Ive been looking for good falafel in Madison and kept being disappointed - until I finally tried King of Falafel today. Absolutely the best falafel sandwich Ive had in years!
Well this was not a good experience. The fish was very thin and over cooked. Im not sure what kind of fish it was but its not what I expected.
Great Gryo and friendly staff. Very reasonably priced. Hard to miss if you dont know exactly where it is. Restaurant is inside a gas station
I ordered a gyro good lotsa middle eastern interesting food to
Please keep this place open. We need great food like this, not more taco and sandwitch shops. Always good!
Absolutely delicious felafel and Italian beef sandwiches, perfect fries. Great service.
Been quite a few times and I keep coming back for more; usually try something new each time. Tried the gyro egg rolls this time. Didnt disappoint!
Inside of Gas Station, you can easily miss this place no sign outside but when you call they will guide you nice yummy fresh food great staff.
Always great food! Love everything Ive ever ordered. Always correct order no never a need to return to get original order. Food is 5 ★s for sure!
Great service, quick food, very tasty large menu. The Gyro Egg Rolls are a favorite.
Better falafel than banzo! Great gyros and they have rap snacks next door at the gas station!
You can easily miss this place: it is hidden in a gas station, and the signage is not obvious. Ambiance? It doesnt have any. But the food is wonderful, fresh and plentiful. We had felafel and chicken shawarma - they come with a generous amount of some very tasty fries. Easy to miss - but dont miss it.
Awesome place. Got the shawarma with hummus entree, 6pc falafel, and a family rice: yum x3! Great prices too, plus the guy behind the counter threw in an extra drink! Will absolutely be returning, no question about it!!!
I ordered fattoush. It came in a styrofoam hot dog container,. It was iceberg lettuce, raw white onions, tomato slices, and pita pieces. I was asked if I wanted oil and vinegar, or "tangy, with tahini,. I expected a drizzle of tahini, but it was drowned in tahini and the salad was greatly compromised by that. I have had better salads
I had the gyro burger with fries and my so had the philly cheesesteak with fries. I really liked my burger! I was definitely impressed. My so however wasnt that enthusiased about his sandwich. They were made fresh after we ordered them but he says it tasted like a microwave one. The fries were really good imo.
Price was great, dudes were nice and most of all, the Italian beef. Keep these guys rolling in dough so they can stick around a long time lol
Wild how the reviews are from a certain demographic who have never had real Arab food (or salt?). Good place, good prices. If authentic is an issue, mcdonalds is close!
Absolutely avoid this place like COVID-19Imagine possibly the worst service youve could have gotten. Food takes hours to get to you, it comes to you cold with some of the food being burnt. It comes to you without hardly any presentation as if they just slapped it on there. Food comes to you missing or just not there at all. You try to communicate with staff there but theyre either unwilling to or just cant understand or speak a lick of English. This was our horrendous experience ordering through King of Falafel. Took them TWO HOURS for us to get our food for pickup with no reason given as to why. Repeatedly weve called the restaurant to see what the holdup was and they refused to answer. When we got our food our orders were for some unholy reason stacked like they were trying to play tetris with them, with one of our orders on the side and another COMPLETELY UPSIDE DOWN, spilling all the contents into the bag! Literally the food was as if it was thrown in there and tossed around with the food being on the side and grease spilling out and pooling in the bag, one of them was pierced and we had it spill out onto our carpet!Their shawarma is hardly worth calling proper shawarma if they cant even keep their hummus separate and decide to bathe the food in it and keep ACTUAL SHREDDED PIECES of the shawarma bread separate and once again COLD!They didnt even attempt to construct a kebab if not just gave us another shawarma. Lamb came to us BURNT AND COLD!We had SEVERAL PIECES of our appetizers and entree missing and somehow tasted WORSE than what you can just buy and make at home from the store!I didnt receive my fish order at all and honestly depressed me how awful not only their fish is but their service. If not to make matters worse, we got food poisoning in the morning and ended up vomiting it all up.Literally the only thing they did right was the falafel. AND THAT WAS IT.King of Falafel. Fool at Everything Else. Go to State Street.I am honestly expecting a full refund from this place soon now then to be honest
King of Falafel has the undisputed best falafels in Madison at their cat on the Square. I looked forward to having another great falafel delivered from their store. Ugh. Maybe they have new ownership or a new chef but whatever - the falafel was all but inedible. As was the babaganouj . I wont order from them again. Just the worst food Ive had in Madison in a long time. Terrible.
Very tasty! Everyone enjoyed their sandwiches! We didnt realize the restaurant shares the building with a gas station, and almost gave up trying to find it, as we didnt see a restaurant sign. Glad we found it!
Best fries in town, the chicken chimichanga is delicious! They are very friendly and the food is very inexpensive. I get lunch there at least once a week... Very recomended!
Service here was terrible. They left off items I paid for. Iodered through Grubhub. When I called the restaurant to request they fix it and redeliver they lied and said I did not pay for the extra sauce when it is clearly on my receipt and then told me to call Grubhub to deal with it. You just lost a customer over fighting with me over cucumber sauce! And I apparently talked to the manager who gave me this kiss off answer. Trying to support local business in this crazy time. But, seriously guys - maybe dont tell the customers trying to keep you in business to deal with it. Thanks for ruining my meal and my night.
Great food. Good people. Reasonably priced.
I have been meaning to check out this place for years. I think I got my expectations up too high for my visit. This is a huge bummer for me to say. I was totally disappointed in my food. I stopped in during their lunch menu and ordered two gyro lunch meals (come with fries and a drink). Super cheap price of 11.99 for the two meals. The fries were your standard fare and did not disappoint. The gyro on the other hand... the bread was hard and chewy. The meat was rubbery. and there were so many onions on it! I love onions and even I thought there were too many. Ive been to Parthenon on State so many times and they just have better gyros in town. Im not completely shaken though. I may go back to check out some of their other items, as people rave about the food here. Maybe I just caught them on a bad day.side note: So, I was the only one in the restaurant and my two gyro meals took about 15-20 mins to get. Not sure why there was a long wait. It was so smelly in the restaurant, that my clothes were so saturated with the smell that I had to change clothes when I got home.
Order ahead or there will be a long wait. Food quality is inconsistent. Ive had decent food a few times but tonight my sandwich was saturated with very oily tahini.
Not a great place for gyros. I got a gyro with tzatziki sauce and it was smothered in sauce. So much so, that it was overwhelming. The meat itself was good, but I could barely taste it. They’re tzatiki sauce is also closer to ranch in both flavor and consistency which wasn’t very good. I wouldn’t go here again for a gyro and I would recommend getting the sauce on the side to anyone that does. Fries are pretty good though.
What a gem! When you dream about finding a hole-in-the-wall diamond in the rough, it probably couldnt be much better than King of Falafel & Grill. The prices cannot be beaten and the food is absolutely delicious. We ordered the falafel and the gyro meals, and for $12, we received the sandwiches in addition to killer fries and cans of soda. If youre looking for delicious yet cheap mediterranean food, then look no further.
Restaurants attached to gas stations are always a risky call, but you wont go wrong with this one. The shawarma and falafel are solid choices. Prices are super reasonable. While you could eat here, its more of a grab and go kind of place.
I love going here. They are always nice and make our gyro just the way ask. Professional and great freshly made food. Always our number 1 place to go.
Best Mediterranean food I have had in Madison. No seating to speak off, it is a takeaway set up, which is a shame. They should consider opening a place with proper seating.
Ive ordered delivery from here many times and have never been disappointed. All of the food is cheap and fantastic (try the pizza puff!and its cooked and delivered quickly. Highly recommended.
The food here is fantastic, hands down. This is one of my favorite places to get gyros. However, the service is quite slow. If you can afford to wait about 15 min for food, its worth it
Been getting their food since he had a full restaurant downtown by state St . Always been great. Recently discovered the gas station location and have been in twice and had falafel, shawarma, gyro and was it reuben or gyro eggroll?? Cant remember but he does make them there. Everything good, fresh and generous. As hes struggled finding quality staff, hes unfortunately running it solo and had to suspend library mall foodcart service .As with so many small restaurant, show gratitude and appreciation for their hard work and if youre a longtime customer, show it. He appreciates it much and puts a smile in his overworked day . For those who are let down by lack of service with a smile, Ive read thats an american thing mostly. Smiling and socializing is often considered too familiar to do in a customer and server interaction. Many foreigners just want the product they came for. If a stranger of another gender smiles at you, its often taken as flirting .
Dont be decieved by the building the eatery is in ( a gas station). Hands down the BEST gyros I have ever had! The price is great for the combo.Although is it more of a take and go place its worth the wait to get your food. It can get pretty busy so I typically call ahead. I keep coming back for more!!!You must try this place!!
I loved it! We had the falafel with hummus and fried okra and jalapeño poppers. I thought the guy working was very friendly and nice. I would definitely go back. It is best to get the food to go though because there is only one small table.
Cheap eats - my gyros, fries and a can of soda only set me back $6. While the meat could use a little more sear, it was well-seasoned and plentiful. I was not a fan of the sauce, far too runny and not all that fresh. The fries were decent - served hot, well-seasoned and with the right amount of crunch. Nothing earth shattering, but a solid value.
Weve eaten here two times and enjoyed different items both times. Weve only tried the Middle Eastern cuisine and havent tried the fried fish, wings, or American food. The prices are extremely reasonable and the food is delicious and fresh. Their falafel and hummus are great! The proprietor is kind and helpful to answer questions about the menu.
I used to get gyros from a few different places around Madison...but for the last few years since my friend brought me King of Falafel gyros...there is no question if where to go. Since introducing this to friends and family they all agree it is amazingly good. Even the teenager who said he didnt really like gyros is now a huge fan. Do you self a favor if you want to get the best gyros in Madison. Head down to Park Street!
Very best falafel, lots of texture and flavor, definitely homemade. Tried their gyros, best in Madison, hands down. Find their food cart at the concerts on the square, never been to the restaurant.
Ive been talking with these guys since they had just the food cart on the Capitol. Their falafel is awesome and my favorite of all the restaurants in town. They have a ridiculously large menu so prep takes a while, I recommend calling ahead of time for your order. Their pita and falafel is fully vegan though it may be fried in the same oil as their meat products. They are flexible and give friendlier service than another shop that shall remain unnamed. Prices are very good despite them updating the menu with a price adjustment. Ive been told their gyros arent bad either!
