Kimpura in Manila

We got a private room for a small group of 5 and the minimum consummable charge was P6,000... my bestfriends and I enjoyed the privacy and good food!

Taste is okay. Too pricey for regular Japanese restaurant. Not memorable enough to go back to. Wasabi is NOT HOT. Id prefer a typical Japanese Izakaya anytime.

We came as a group of 3 but they only gave us one menu. We had to ask for more but no one would pay attention until after 4 minutes of asking. What looked like the senior waiters would keep coming at our table to ask if we were ready to order-- when ideally we could just call them when were ready. They only alerted us about the dessert that came with a meal only after getting the bill. The food was good but service was so terrible, Id rather look for other Japanese restaurants to eat at with better service and food at the same price.

Amazing how Kimura maintained quality of their food! Still one of the best Japanese restaurants but their service has downgraded..

Kimpura-what happened?Started with the male Maitre ds scowl when asked for our private room.Teppanyaki was a joke-saggy overwatered fried rice,pale old looking meat & pork,tasteless fish,not impressive tempura.The cook?No Hi or anything until we asked which sauce goes where.SAD.The 2 stars are for the servers,ok dynamite roll & salmon sashimi.I enjoyed the miso soup-HOT !!The cabernet,best of all the COMPANY❤ Cmon Kimpura-you can do better!

Kimpura is Japanese comfort food. Tempura, Steak, Oysters and fried rice are staples.This particular day the shrimp tempura was excellent.

Food in kimpura is always good. This was my first time in the Makati branch because we usually eat in the Greenhills branch. With that, the service in this branch is terrible. Waiters would ignore the doorbell and they would have eye contact with us, yet ignore us.

Still amazing food, still exemplary customer service. Japanese comfort food from my childhood that will always have a place in my heart. 🥰

Poor management! Food wasn’t that great! We made a reservation yet we waited for an hour to get seated and another hour to get served. Food was salty. Not worth the wait and money. We don’t recommend this place!

DO NOT EAT HERE AT ALL COSTS. Me and my friends had lunch here a while ago and the iced tea they served us ended up having a cockroach in it! my friend only found out after he drank half of it. The scallops they served were cold and raw as well. I would never expect something like this from a restaurant of this caliber. Simply unacceptable.

most of the menu is good. and reasonable prices. Teppanyaki cooks can serve the food in more artful way. But so far its meeting expectations :i love their rooms as well.

Found Kimpura during our stay New Word Hotel as craving for Japanese Tapanyaki . Very happy and satisfied with their food and service ! Will come back again ..

I have been eating in Kimpura for around 40 years. Quality and taste of food is consistently mouth-watering, heaven on earth 🥰. Service is very prompt. Staff is super courteous.

We were looking for salmon in glorietta and we ended up in this place. The japanese food is nothing to be excited about. Except for the sukiyaki. Its one of the best sukiyakis ive tasted. For that they get 4 starts.

Pricey for the quality. We were very disappointed at our visit last Sunday. We stayed in a private room. It was really crowded, it was hard for the waiter to go around and serve the food. The aircon is not working.The worst part is we ordered tempura and it came out shrinked down orangey to brown instead of yellow to gold and fluffy. It was terrible! I asked the waiter why the tempura looks like that. He said it was standard and because their oil was REUSED since they opened. The answer is ridiculous for a restaurant at this price tier to reuse their oil this way! VERY DISAPPOINTED and gross when you think of it. The manager replaced our tempura but it didnt look like the fluffy yellow to gold that I see people post on Zomato.

Ive been eating at Kimpura since I was a young boy. And 30+ years since the teppanyaki table has yet to disappoint. This last time we had uni, marlin and spicy tuna sashimi, the teppanyaki fried rice, ribeye, oysters and scallops. Same excellent flavors and satisfaction after all these years. Im glad my son gets to experience this family favorite.

Pricey Japanese cuisine. Place is cozy. Good service from staff. Food is just okay nothing special. Tempura is disappointing. but I could say their okonomiyaki taste great!

I was told this is an excellent Japanese restaurant. My hubby and I went on a Sunday so there were lots of families having dinner. We were seated right away across from the sushi chefs.We ordered three rolls: dragon roll, spider roll and Philadelphia roll. Drinks were served promptly but the rolls were not served for a long time. We had to follow up on our order and we got Philadelphia roll but the salmon was not fresh, it’s frozen. I don’t have to guess as the frozen salmon was displayed on the counter.The dragon roll with mango slice on top came next and it was good! The best that I had. Kudos to the sushi chef. We were almost finish with both but we have yet to see the last roll to be served. We can’t wait any longer so we canceled our last order. We also see other customers following up on their orders and canceling because it’s taking too long.I don’t know what it is but the servers seems to be in chaos. They didn’t have an assigned table to wait. They were all over the place. Even the waitress/hostess was cooking something right next to the sushi chef table, then waiting on tables and then getting checks and receiving payments. Really? Management needs helps to make the place more efficient so customers do not spend time waiting and following up on orders. It will also help the sushi chefs’ to complete orders in the right order and not scrambling to prepare sushi orders for customers that’s already complaining.*********Updated review:I went back with a couple of friends on a Sunday evening. There was a crowd but nothing compared to our first time in Kimpura. We ordered sushi rolls and ramen. Sorry I don’t think we took photos as we were chatting away with friends we haven’t met for a long time. It was closed to 10 pm and we were the only ones in the restaurant. The crew was cleaning up but they didn’t try to kick us out. I chatted with one of the crew as we were settling the bill and she was nice to tell us that we can stay until closing time. She mentioned that they’ve had busy days so service can be off but overall she was happy with all the customers that visit their restaurant. No complaints from me or my hubby this time around. The food we had are fresh and tasty. We will back again when we visit the Philippines.

Came in about 545pm was still close have to wait for a while, its better to come in early if you dont have a reservation and want to sit at the area where they cook. Staff were friendly and accomodating

Ate here for Easter 2019 Lunch time. The food is still great but service is terrible. We had to follow up on our tuna sashimi and ebiko California roll 4x and even had to stand up to speak to the head wait staff. Also they should really stop cooking other people’s food at the teppanyaki table you’re sitting in. If they are expecting other orders just do it in the kitchen! This used to be a great restaurant back when there were only a few Japanese restaurants in town but now there are better (serviceoptions in the area.

The best in Japanese cuisine. Fresh sashimis and best cooked tenpuras specially the shrimps. The chefs who cook are known to the old clients too which means the service is good for clients and servers stay and continue to patronize Kimpura.

Good location. Very relaxing to enjoy your meal. Staff were very attentive. Food is ok nothing extraordinary.

Disappointing visit last night and not consistent with our prior experiences. Service was quite slow and it seemed they were not prepared for the volume of orders, even if the place was not 100% filled. Food was mixed. Salmon sashimi was excellent and so was the steak, but the shrimp tempura was burnt the first time it went out and still poorly made the second time.

One of the best Japanese restaurants. Sitting at the Teppanyaki table is a requirement as the Teppanyaki sets are well worth the cost. Make sure to upgrade to the fried rice.

Nostalgic and delicious as ever. No matter how long its been they have maintained their quality. Reminiscent of when they were beside Landmark. Great food.

Customer service is the worst. Been asking for menu and asked to wait. Then ask to order no one cares. Waited for 15 minutes then walk out. Will not go in anymore.

Kimpura never disappoints. Ever since I can remember, I have enjoyed the food from when it was a stobe stand alone restaurant till where it is now. The food. The waitstaff. The overall experience is just AMAZING. Keep it up. I hope to bring my kids to Kimpura for our family celebrations. Thank you for being FAMILY to us!

Its one of the best Japanese restaurants in Makati. It has a great selection from sashimi, sushi, to don buri, teishoku, and teppanyaki. Our favourite is to sit by the teppanyaki table and watch their chefs prepare us steaks and other grilled favourites. Call ahead to get reservations. Estimated to spend P500-P1500 per person on the average.

Good food. Slow service. Allot yourself about an hour or so. 45 minutes to wait for your order and 15 minutes to eat.

The quality of your food depends on the day you dine in this restaurant. On days when there is a promo with credit cards, the food is usually lousy. My aunt got food poisoning from the oyster teppan. But on regular days, the food is really good. Service is great, but when I went one Tuesday night, it was understaffed and the food took very long to be served.

Love the US Prime Tenderloin steak. Very juicy. The gyoza was just ok. Will return here again if i come to Manila again. The staff is friendly.

Id give two stars for many reason 1st of all why are chefs serving food to the customers isnt that the waiters / waitress job. 2nd why is there only few people taking orders but they have many employees.

Weve been going to Kimpura since the 80s (Greenhillsand weve always been impressed with the taste and quality. Whats more impressive is how theyve managed to stay as excellent all this time.

One of the best Japanese restaurants in Makati. Their Tempura, sashimi and Chirashi Bowl is really good. They also have Teppanyakis with choice beef. Best for groups!

Excellent Japanese restaurant tucked away in Glorietta 5 - good selection of food and a great number of options. Great service to boot all makes this a great stop for a Japanese meal. Not the cheapest option but also not too overpriced. Quality for cost is excellent.
