Kilimanjaro Jamia - Restaurant in Thika, Kenya
Great customer serviceDelicious food & generous portionsAmbient
Pretty good food I would say
Nice food, big portions and friendly staff. Well satisfied with each visit.
So Im in Nairobi doing my errands and my lady suggests we pop into Kilimanjaro Jamia and man thats the best thing she did for us that day 26/9/2022. We walk in to see whats on the menu (we are foodiesand we are spoilt for choice. Being the first time and being very cautious to try out something we aint sure about. We chose: Chicken stew with Pilau Rice and Beef stew with fries(see photos). Good customer service,, excellent food,, clean environment and most importantly GOOD CUSTOMER SERVICE!. Would I suggest Kilimanjaro Jamia to my friends and family? YES! Will I eat again here,, HELL YES!Good stuff Kilimanjaro Jamia. GREAT WORK. (Honest review from a person who reads reviews before going to any establishment)
A few months ago, Id have recommended this spot for dates and for the meals. Lately, the food isnt as tasty or as appetizing as it used to be. Youd think the patrons leaving plates full of food are doing so because theyre full, but after you start eating, you realize its due to lack of interest in finishing the meal. Suffice to say, youd probably need some street food(smokie, msee wa mayaito end your hunger pangs.Regardless, the drinks are noteworthy. Especially liked the choco shake and the strawberry nojito.Go here if you want to just fill your stomach without regard to taste. Kinda nice ambience too.Ps: dont order the salsa as an addition. Its just roughly chopped tomatoes.
Specious and affordable restaurant. Waiters and kind and helpful. Their meals are well cooked and delicious. They made my date successful.
Decent foodn good prices and nice service.
Great dishes filled with aroma and herbs, the Somali delicacies are fantastic. The waiters are really friendly as well.
Kilimanjaro jamia was actually the opposite of how its flaunted around on social media and the streets .In all honesty the ambiance and the view you get from the hotel is amazing but the food is devoid of good taste in short blunt , my partner and i had their sizzling dishes; arosto served with pilau rice and mixed plate platter( fish, steak and chickenwith chips. The arosto was ok but below average being that i am accustomed to the dish ,i expected much more being they are a Somali restaurant. The mixed platter was not good the meats tasted as if they had been boiled then served with some sauce. It is disappointing how the hotel ambiance, food prices and the actual food do not correspond in quality. After finishing the meal we tried to give the waiter feedback but they bluntly ignored us and rudely dismissed us.
Best food I had in Nairobi. Warm and helpful people around and exceptional quality of dishes. We asked the server for a mix of vegetarian things and he mixed up a delicious plate.
Their food is really good and in good quantities. Probably just a little bit of improvement in their timeliness to table service, but otherwise theyre doing a phenomenal job.
Standards of this place have really dipped although portions are good. Their fries have lots of blackspots and meat seasoning became obsolete.
Its got a little bit of a zing to it, overviewing the street from the terrace seats.Besides, we were over the moon, trying ultra big sized meal plates, which includes the various menu from Somali special to Indian, and local.
Hardly I give 1* but this restaurant doesnt deserve any more unfortunately.Food was below average, bland and tasteless. We had puzza and sizzling dish and cake. Nothing was good, we had to pack our food and luckily was many people on the street to share as we couldnt eat anything.Service was awful. 5 waiters around and everyone would mingle with their frends guests, very slow. They could hardly answer any question about the food and would just stare at us giving very uncomfortable feeling. To mention, we were charged for containers and boxes and bag that we asked for food. Wouldnt recommend
The ambience here was just amazing. For that deep conversation with your partner, friend or fun with family. The food is great too and served well to fit your hunger needs
Food was served. Very beautiful plentifully filled until I started digging in, only to find human hair entangled in my rice. Then the waiter comes and tries to tell me how thats not a strand of human hair but a "spice strand"....π€¦πΎββοΈ Ill leave the rest of the experience to imagination....π‘πππ£
Great portions, quite affordable. Food is quite subtle ...Not for spice lovers. (Though you can order chilli at the sidebut thats as far as it goes.

First time at Kilimanjaro. And, I was wowed! The dining space is quite huge with seating options either inside the main restaurant as well as outside overlooking Kimathi Street. The ambience is so warm and cosy. I think the best time to appreciate this place is very early in the morning before the crazy busy lunch-rush. The menu was truly overwhelming for a hungry, first-timer such as myself. Because, everything on the menu looked good! My waiter, Joel, was super helpful in this aspect and suggested i try the liver ("Maini"with chapati. It came in sauteed strips with a side of potato-based gravy. I didnt regret this choice at all. In fact, my tummy was doing a vigorous dance of delight from all the deliciousness. I also had their Caffe Mocha which was just amazing - hot and perfectly balanced in terms of the coffee and chocolate and milk. All this set me back a mere Kshs.530/- (about $5). Meanwhile, the supervisor was on hand to ensure that everything ran smoothly and that I enjoyed myself. I loved the attention to detail...even their toothpicks are branded!!! I Definitely recommend this place. If there were more than 5 stars to give, I would glady give them to Kilimanjaro.
Large Meals worth every penny. Our waiter went all the 9 yards to make our visit nice. The platters are a deal
This is Somali / Kenyan restaurant, with authentic Kenyan food. It has a wide selection of dishes and drinks. I had Arosto which is a boiled goat meat, Rice Saldato and Butter Naan. It was all delicious. Most definitely a place to eat at while in Nairobi.
Amazing experience and amazing food. The waiters and waitresses are helpful and kind. Our waitesss Elizabeth was a delight and took care of us really well.
Located along Kimathi street Nairobi, kilimanjaro Jamia restaurant is one of the best hotels around the Nairobi CBD. They serve a whole lot of different types of foods and drinks. They have some of the best cappuccino and coffee around. They also serve meals the likes of Pizza, fish curry, strawberry ice cream, and much more. The services are also too notch.
I cant count the number of times Ive been here. The balcony seats give you a view of Nairobi uptown and you can get almost any food here. Ask for goat meat here and youll keep going back...Did I mention they have the cleanest washrooms? Definitely worth your money
Good place especially for crowds. We took this Sinia for 6 people and it was enough. The food is okay for most part but not exactly finger licking
The ambience is good and the service is great. Mohamed is really a great waiter. Always willing to go the extra mile for his customers. The juices are great, especially the pineapple-passion. Very fresh. I would definitely recommend one orders their juices as part of their meal. The sizzling chicken is quite tasty and a favourite. Can be accompanied with French fries, chapati or a starch of your choosing. There is a balcony seating with a view of Kimathi street.
I think the place is super! Pocket friendly and very good food. Quality and quantity. Its the one place Im assured food hardly ever remains.... That goat met was sth else... Spicy and quite on the hot side of life. Sizzling Arosto is what they call it.
The food is yummy or do I say huge serving. Mouth-watering and I am gathering my squad again. A group 4 couldnt finish this food and price is also friendly.
Excellent and ambient space; even though it gets quite busy at some hours. Amazing food. The portions they serve will make you feel like you just robbed them. Their service is excellent with the friendly staff. The interior dΓ©cor is also one of a kind. Very well done. Anything goat meat is a highly recommend from me.
I visited this restaurant twice on my current visit to Nairobi and I loved it every time. Food was great, ambiance was wonderful and the service was second to non. The best thing here has to be the Oreo milkshake! Must visit, reasonable prices. Get there early before it gets full or after the lunch rush hour! I will definitely be back, congratulations toThe management youβre doing everything right!
Always full because of the quality of food. The balcony seats are the best because of the fresh air. The food is halal and very affordable. Its easily accessible as its in the CBD. Its a nice place to have a meal with friends and family. You can even order a little bit of everything by ordering the platter. The iced mocha is a great addition to every meal
The food was plenty and I loved the ambience
Good food but service was slow..
I absolutely love this place. Decently priced and the portions are huge. I almost always have to share a plate with whomever Im with! The service is quite fast too. It gets pretty full on weekdays during lunch time, however there are several branches around the CBD that one can visit. This review is based on the branch along Kimathi st
Its a diverse unique experience. The meals are well cooked that are rich in flavor. The restaurant observes proper hygiene as the washroom are clean. The staff are friendly to the customers as they welcome them and even find appropriate seats for the customer. The staff also take time to explain meals/dishes on the menu upon request. Excellent customer service π
Serves a lot of foodI loved the spiced chips you should tryGreat customer service but too many attendants serving one table you are not sure who to ask for whatClean and with great views
Its actually the first restaurant I have come across that serves a lot of food in Nairobi. Their food is very delicious and the staffs are friendly and polite. I love this restaurant and Ill definitely recommend everyone to visit.
One of the best affordable yet high end restaurants in the CBD(central business districtwith a variety of food from the Somali and Ethiopian culture with a touch of coastal feels. With a seating capacity of over a hundred people at a go,the space is ideal for family events and meetings
One of the best Somali restaurants in the cbd. Here youll find some of the best pilau and biryani. They have a wide menu with different cuisine to choose from
Big portions, tasty food. Slow service. Fairly priced.
Good food nice ambiance
The best place. Good services, best food ever
Amazing dishes served. The place is clean, fast waiters and good food. Portions are quite enough and prices are pocket friendly. There is a very beautiful view at the balcony and you can view Kimathi street while enjoying your meal.enough Lighting at the restaurant and there is a parking around and a petrol station just besides it. Im in like with their Chips masala, Arosto and Anjera alot. So. Much to choose from their menu. There are 2 seaters where you can just sit with yiur spouse and catch up, there is also a room reserved for families where they can link up and share meals together.
Generous portions, low price.Dont be fooled by the low price of some items in the menu like fish tikka, cheese naan or the chiken tikka, that may lead you to belive that those are side dishes but they can perfectly be a good complete lunch.Crowded at noon with locals and foreigners as well if you find a spot you will enjoy flavours from Africa and india. The service is not the best but is acceptable, dont come to get super personalised attention, come to get in touch with what is a day to day downtown office lunch, dont come to find the best of exotic flavors, come to get a somehow decent flavor of the foood you are tasting but always prioritizing portion sizes.Overall is ok and is 4 stars for me because even when is not the best you can find is definitely worth going.
This is one food chain that has been silently serving Nairobians for some time. But those who know it, will tell you that despite the waiting time (understandable for an eatery that size and locationin between order and actually being served, every bit of this restaurant is worth the money. Wait, did I mention that whatever they serve you however hungry you will be I honestly doubt youll finish? But dont worry they have a takeaway option too. Good food, quality service, proper ambience and ultimately value-for-money
Such friendly service and delicious reasonably priced food! Thanks for the fantastic meal
Superb services and great meals
They have really good food...trust meπ
Awesome..satisfactory..food was splendid.. Dont eat alone the food is tastier in a company of friends π
I loved the service. Polite waiters, great tasty dishes, a place a toddler can enjoy themselves too with the huge balcony area. Relaxing environment. Their ice cream... Quite creamy.
