Kidichi Spice Farms in Wete
Description
Privilege
Book the cooking class, the tour and plan to stay for 4-5 hours.Contact them via whats up if you have any questions. Be careful when you enter some people are waiting at the entrance and tell you they are from the Siso farm and will give you a spice tour. Tell them you dont want one and you are booked for cooking class and continue.Stay in touch with Siso so he knows you are coming and come to greet you. Follow the signs. Check my photos so you know how it looks. The food was sooooo tasty, the vibe amazing, chill, real, we met some other travelers and we learned so much! They also have volunteers who have spent some time in Zanzibar who have gold advise four stay!We even came back to the farm to get some fruits that we really liked but were to rare to find on the market !
MoreMy friend and I dropped by for a tour of the farm. We both learned a lot, smelled and sampled some many types of spices and fruit, and got rewarded with tea and coconut at the end! We were unexpectedly full. Highly recommended. Adam and Asa were our guides and they were both very personable.
MoreWe dropped in without a reservation. What a great place! Friendly and informative guide, who made us feel incredibly welcome. This was more than just a tour, in particular loved the lesson on how to climb a coconut palm!
MoreAmazing experience, interesting tour and great spice shop with good fruit at the end
MoreToday we visited the Siso Spice Farm. We had a great and entertaining time with the hosts of the farm. They introduced everything they are planting and did a little quiz out of it which made it funny and enjoyable. We had the opportunity to smell and try all the different spices they have. Imran a kind boy climbed up a 15 to 20 meter high coconut tree like it was nothing and brought us some coconuts down to try. He even made some lovely gifts for us out of plants. They introduced us to their own shop and we where free to buy whatever we want to for good prices.I can recommend this lovely place to everyone who want to do a spice farm visit.
MoreHad a fantastic time as Siso Spice Farm. Highly recommend a visit. Our tour guides Dula and Abubaka were entertaining and informative. A must for any food lover or cook! They even gave us a Swahili lesson as we walked through the spice trees and learned what each tree produced. The tour ended with freshly picked water coconuts and tea made with spices from the farm to drink. Delicious!
MoreHad a really good experience here! The guide was nice and knew a lot about the different fruits and spices, it was super interesting. At the end we could taste different kinds of fruit, tea and fresh coconut. Would definitely recommend going here!
MoreWhat an interesting experience. We smelled plants, leafs or fruits flavors we grew up with. Funny we recognised the flavors but we could not tell until we were told. One guy climbed a 10 m tall palm tree by hands amd feet and picked a coconut for us and we drank it fresh
MoreGuide was great with good knowledge. Expected to see plantations, but its just a small sampling field.
MoreAmazing experience… take the bus from stone town till the end and walk 10m uphill and you will find the guides ready for you :20k entrance and a tip to the guide it will be fine :)Amazing guy explaining everything you need to know… highly recommended 👏🏻
MoreWe visited the farm few days ago with a couple of friends. We booked in advance for a cooking class too.We arrived at the farm at 9h30.It was AMAZING !!!First, we were warmly welcoming by Siso and the rest of the team. Then, we stayed with Ridhwan, the cooking chef. He teached us all the steps to cook Pilau with tuna fish. This experience was really funny and interesting even if it was a little bit long (maybe 2 hours), but normal, sometimes cooking takes time.During the Pilau finished to cook, we went to visit the farm with Khamis. He is very friendly and funny, we learned and laughed a lot.The farm is big and it was really pleasant to walk around. We tasted different fruits and spices. Khamis really takes time to explain and respond to all our questions. The tour takes around 1h30.At the end of the tour, we ate Pilau with the staff. It was de-li-cious ! It was very satisfying and nice to eat all together. After a plate of fruits and a little photo shoot, weve been to the spice shop and buy a lot of spices for cooking Pilau again and again. This is really something to do if you come in Zanzibar. But careful, there is a lot of spice farm around. One of them has a sign very similar to Kidichi Spice farm but its not the right place if you want to live this experience.I highly recommend this one !
MoreGood spice market. People are very good check video on the travel traffic
We had a great time at Kidichi Spice Farm! First the owner of the farm and his family gave us a cooking class and showed us how to prepare a typical local dish (Pilau, Sauce, Fish, Sweetpotatoe greens and veggies). While we waited for the Pilau, a farmer gave us a tour of the premises and we tried many spices and fruit - everyone was really generous and we had the lychee feast of a lifetime! Afterwards we had lunch together, tried some more Tea and Juices, bought some spices for reasonable prices and went home with a basket of fruit and good memories!
MoreSuch a cool experience!!! I learned a lot, the guide was very nice and funny ! We got to eat some fruits and drink some tea !!Amazing experience, highlights recommend.
MoreZanzibar A farm where you can enjoy natural spices and tropical fruits, where you can feel nature.
MoreWe really enjoyed our tour here! Mohammad and Abdul were the best guides. ❤️
We really enjoyed our trip here! Its great to learn about how the spices are actually produced. Great and friendly guides with lots of knowledge. You get a fresh coconut at the end of the tour, plus a goodie bag of all the fruits and spices we picked on the way! Enjoy!
MoreThe tour was great, the guide spent so much time with us showing and making us smell/taste a lot of spices and fruits! It was so instructive and interesting! Also at the end we got a lot of different local fruit to eat and we saw another guide climbing a palm tree just to get us coconut, from which we ate and drank. It was so fascinating! We really had a great time, we highly recommend you to visit this place - you won’t regret it!
MoreNot worth the visit. They grow ginger, coconut, few other common fruits - nothing special. For entry they asked 20usd per person, then reduced to 10 after we refused to go. Still not worth the visit.
MoreWe had a very nice experience in The Hill spice farm. The place is beautiful and quiet and the guides are good and friendly. We ended up with a bouquet of samples of spices, and had a fruits and Zanzibar Coca-Cola degustation.Compared to some other experiences on the island, its worth the price.Thank you Muhamed for the tour!
MoreA great place to visit on your own from Stone Town. We had a tour with Abdul and Mohammed, who showed us various plants that grow in Zanzibar. This is a small farm, so you have a couple of different plants near each other - do not expect rows and rows of the same plant. Its the best way to see different spices and fruits, as the tour is quite thorough and takes around 2 hours. We visited during the spring, which is early for many plants - we saw very young or old ones. They still were great! The fruit and tea treat at the end was also really cool.We took dala dala 511 from nearby Darajani market (not sure if that was still the market. And it went south first, near the hospital). Dala dala was 1000 TSh, entrance to the farm 10 000 TSh, tips not included. The guides were very friendly and did not try to force us to tip, like I read in some reviews of other farms. They did their job really well and earned our thanks :)
MoreAt the beginning we were a bit hesitated, but it ended up as a great tour in a nice garden. Very informative trip and very friendly and welcoming guide. It is definitely a "must do" on Zanzibar island.
MoreVery nice, takes quite a long time to walk through (more than 1.5h), but very educational. Also cheap price of their home products (soaps, perfumes...).
MoreParadise gardent of kidichi. Thanks to the guide! Lets ad "love Spices" in your heart and all lifes in the word will be spiced with more love and solidarity ! BBPAT
MoreInteresting information received from the guide and a lot of plants that we did not see in Europe. We arrived at the farm around 16.30 and the guide was very nice and stayed with us (just 2 personsuntil 18.30-19.00 (until de sunset)
Morenice place to visit
its a great place to visit you see the beautiful scenery, we get to know the origin of the spices that we get super market
MoreThis is one of places you must see. We tried many tasteful spices
The spice farms must see in Zanzibar, you will know exactly how is the spices you get from supermarket at its original status as a plant 🌱 it was really great experience and should not be missed, for example do u love cinnamon ? Who doesn’t !! you will see the cinnamon tree 🌳 and how they get it from the tree coat..
MoreGreat tour, lovely locals and funny guides, wonderful lunch and what a beautiful area, nature at its best.
MoreI didnt know what to expect on a "spice tour" but its a fun guided tour of a demo farm where you learn how various spices, trees, tubers and fruits are grown, and can sample some straight off the plant if you like.
MoreWe were surprised who they were organized for tourists 😊 Very friendly guide who showed us all spices and trees, weve tasted a lot! Recommended 👍
MoreNice & qucik way to learn about the spices. Althought if you visit farm in October dont expect to see many fruits and spices..they are off the season.. in the end you will get some fruits and coconut to drink & eat yummy
MoreExcellent tour with Paul who showed us in detail the secrets and tastes of this working farm and village
MoreGreat experience and fruit tasting at Big Body and Tatata Spice Farm
Nice place.Excellent guideWe had fruits and coconut water😚
Mr Foum Garu is a very knowledgeable and warm hearted teacher and guide. He owns Heritage Spice Farm and chairs a collective of 30 organic spice growers in the area. He is also a professional teacher of Agriculture and continues to teach students at the government sponsored research centers and institutes. His English is very good and he has travelled extensively around the world to enhance his masters level education.
MoreGood place to see lots of Spice plants
Our guide Siso has shown us a lot of spices avaliable on the farm. The tour took us 1,5h :walking around the farm, fruit tasting, tea drinking. The entrance fee per person is 10$. There is a small store which offers the local spices in price of 2$ (5000 STH).
MoreGreat fun .Are guide Oma very Nice spices and fruits AMAZING
The guide is very entertaining and you wont just get a spoce tour but some gift along the way.
MoreFunny tour guide and got to see some interesting spices. Was let down by the shop at the end, most of the interesting spices we saw on the tour were not available for sale. All they had were overpriced store bought spices. I think this is common with spice farms in Zanzibar, which is just sad. Had a good time on the farm though, everyone was nice and friendly to tourists.
MoreI think this farm and the « Big Body with Tatata Spice Farm » are the same...Well, we really enjoyed our tour, it was really interesting and discover a lot of new things! A smiling guide who answered all our questions !I confirm however that they try to « rob » you as much money as they can especially with unexpected/unnecessary tips...The entrance is 10 USD not more... Don’t believe that it’s more because there is a community that you help...
MoreBeautiful experience. Our tour guide was very helpful and knowledgeable
It is amazing! We didnt have the spice tour but its highly recommended by others. We got to buy various spices, small perfumes, & vanilla extract. At the end of our trip we discovered we can buy spices in abundance from local markets but of course its a great experience to see cinnamon trees for the 1st time in my life.
MoreVery fun tour, Mortala is extremely knowledgeable and easy going. Nothing quite beats a fresh coconut!
MoreWe had so much fun here. Tons to see, smell and taste. Buying spices here are more expensive in town, but they are much fresher. Purchase here as the price increase is worth the quality difference. See if you can catch a glimpse of the Butterfly climbing up the coconut palms as well. When you come back from the tour, everyone will know you were just there... the "free merchandise" gives it away.
MoreThe explanation of spices and plants is very interesting. Just be careful about the pricing. They try to make too much money out of everything. The guide was not officially from the site but wanted a big tip afterwards. Same for the coconut tree climber...
MoreAmazing experience. I love the detail they go into with each plant they have. And the selection of goodies are amazing. Would definitely recommend it.
MoreDefinitely a must visit place! You will learn a lot, from how plants grow, how cocoa seeds look like, cinnamon, cardamon, vanilla all the other goodies! Make sure to tip the guides and visit the gift shop! Love it!
