Khum Chao Luang - Museum in Uttaradit, Thailand
Well preserved teak house with beautiful wood trims. Tour guide was friendly and knowledgeable in explaining the different parts of the house and its former uses. However the landscaping could use some improvement to complement the house.
Truly a royal palace of yesteryear🙏Amazing details still there.A well spent 40 minutes strolling through a naturally ventilated masterpiece of tropical architecture.
is a symbol of the city If you dont come, its considered that you havent arrived in this province. It is a place to visit in the heart of the city.

Very beautiful house. Many original furniture, China, photos etc. we were lucky to get a guided tour from Chom Poo (apologies if not spelled correctlyin perfect English. She was so kind to show us around and explain the history of the house and the royal family who lived here. No fixed entry fees, donations are welcome. Parking on right side behind the house, and visitors toilets. Recommended!
Real “parasite” historic
Well-kept, informative museum. Worth a visit for history buffs.Dont miss a visit to the jail section at lowest part of the building.
The once home,,,1893-1937,, of the King of Phrae Province ,, this home is interesting and historical. Majority of the furniture exists. Historical photos,, 1000 words,,, tell of history other than the Kings. 1000 yr old Wat nearby.

Excellent and totally free to enter, dont miss this important palace.Jao Luang Piriyahepawong-u-DornThis statue was built as a tribute to the last "Jao Lunan" of Phrae (the King appointed ruler of the cityfrom 1889 to 1902.Through his vision and leadership he was both devoted to the welfare of the Phrae people and a devout Buddhist. His most significant plans for administering included the establishment of a police force and a system for local people trading. On 15th September 1902 during the rebellion of the Shan (many of them worked in Teak logging and mining in Phraethe local rule was upset on a massive scale and he had to flee to Luang Prabang in Laos.(In the basement there used to be interrogations of suspected criminals)
It was on fine day we went, the building is in good care. There are etiquette in English, but only short explanation. For someone who interest with building/history, perhaps you could read online articles before/after going to this place. Clean toilet available at the backyard garden.

Another a MUST place to visit when you come to Prae
Khum Chao Luang house and museum of 6th Prince of Phrae. You can see a two storey exhibition of his family belongings including clothing, tableware, weapons etc. and a little prison in the basement. There are also QR codes which allow you to watch video guides in most of the rooms. In the front of the building there is a small garden and a statue of the owner.
Many of the buildings from 600yo are still in beautiful condition.
Easy to find and not far from the main road. Very nice bit of Northern Thai history. Do not forget to see the jail located under the mansion.

Khum Chao Luang was the old residence of the Governor of Phrae province. The teak wood mansion was built during King Rama V and has been converted into a museum.
I would like to give a compliment to the staff that showed us around the mansion and explained the history of each room. We were very impressed by her courtesy and the knowledge she had. I really like this place.
Expected more. Its simply a collection of plates, pots, and bedroom articles. Not impressive if youve been to other similar museums before
Khum Chao Luang was built in a mixture of Lanna Thai and European architect, served as the royal residence of principality of Phrae under Siamese rule. There is a small prison underneath the residence.
