Khoua Vientiane in Luzern
Description
Privilege
Small place but they have good and authentic vietnamese food. 👌
My wife been craving Asian food during her stay in Luzern. Finally tried something that is more original and tasty. And u know what, price is not as high as the others. Good choice. Oh by the way we are from Malaysia, the food haven country
MoreDisappointed.Had a chicken with vegetables once there a month ago and was good, but last evening had a rice with speck and it wasnt a good smell, on top had some stomach pain all night.
MoreI ordered Pad see ew and the noodles were barely cooked. They came out still rolled up. Probably because we ordered 30 min before closing, but still very disappointed at the quality
MoreShortlisted this thai place amongst the many others while looking for something spicy to be had for dinner.🍲 the Tom yum Kung was good, very authentic and was a properly portion serving, 6 fresh prawns in total🦆 the sauce for the crispy duck was decent, serving was a bit too little imo for the price paid🥟 the wantan was okay, too deep fried and didn’t give off enough flavours despite it containing chicken and shrimp🍚 the fried rice was the best dish of the night, saw this off the adjacent table and gotten it - very flavourful and had a generous portion of chicken meat to go along withAt 78.50 CHF, it was a little pricey - but still a good place to have some Asian food for a change.
MoreVery friendly services! Tiny and cozy restaurant. Weve ordered a medium and large sized #33 beef pho. The portion between medium and large has no big difference, almost same portion with little bigger bowl. We definitely did not like the beef in the pho, especially the texture and taste were very uncommon. The taste of soup wasnt too bad but it was too oily. A lady, who served our pho, put her finger inside of our bowl when she was serving. Sriracha hot sauce and Hoisin sauce bottles were not cleaned.
MoreI have loved the food here since I had been a student. Affordable price with excellent food and generous portion. And of course so friendly service. Highly recommended.
MoreGreat spot for an Asian meal fix! Theres a variety of southeast Asian options, though the food really leaned heavily towards Thai (vs Viet). The staff is very kind and the restaurant was packed the entire time we were there - clear favorite amongst locals and tourists!Food was ok. Not the traditional pho youd expect, but not bad. The curry was good and papaya salad fresh. Crispy duck was ok though not quite crispy enough and not enough sauce. Definitely recommend, whether you go for take away or dine in. Order and pay at the counter.
MoreExcellent food in the middle of Lucerne. Quick food options along with more intricate dishes. Everybody was very kind and nice to our kids and my parents were over the moon about the vegetable options.
MoreGreat food great serviceVery friendly
Small spot away from the main road in Lucerne. Lucky we found this as the food was fantastic and great portion sizes.
MoreOne of the best Asian food in Lucerne. The owners were so nice and the food were delicious! Highly recommended!
MoreBest thai / vietnamese food in Lucerne. Authentic, savory, fresh, as hot as you like it (they got their own 10-level system for how spicy your food is preparedand quickly prepared. The staff are lovely people who treat every customer in the most friendly manner. Very good pricing, too.
MoreGreat Asian food. When you are there, take the fish noodles, yummy
Great place to eat. Friendly people and you can pay using card (master, visa but not amex🥰
MoreTiny cosy restaurant... The owners are so nice. The dishes were authentic with the best tatses of Laos Thailand and VietnamWould sure love to go there againHope you dont mind the toilet room is through the kitchen. As said... I love authentic!
MoreNice little Thai restaurant in the heart of Luzern. Small venue with plenty of options to choose from. Delicious food. Servings are large. Good value for quality.
MoreBest fish ever!
extremely friendly people and they have amazing vegan food options. Thank you!
Affordable healthy food option in Lucerne. Paid 14chf for the tofu+veggies in oyster sauce dish pictured. The female owner was very kind and helped me pick out veggie options! Food was fresh and tasty.
MoreI had not been at the place for a few months and they changed for the bad. I am so sad and disappointed. Pad Thai was the worst. Just noodles with excessive amounts of oyster sauce and nothing to do with Pad Thai. Phõ was mediocre at best, looks like they want to save on spices and they only seemed to have ONE kind of noodles for such a broad menu. The people are still friendly and that’s why I five it two stars. I am really sorry. This USED to be a place with a very authentic Lao/Thai/ Vietnam flavor.
MoreFantastic pho! By far one of the best broths around. Great service and the team speaks really good English also. Very economically priced for those traveling on a budget. Highly recommend!
MoreAmazing Lao-Viet food in a small, casual, friendly spot. The owner was so kind, and you can tell this place is well loved by the locals. Highly recommend the papaya salad and lab gai!
MoreNice little Thai Restaurant in Luzern.Very authentic kitchen and the Pad Thai is really good quality and delicious!5⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ STARS for good Food!
MoreTheir fresh spring rolls, probably among the best food experience you can get in town. Only prepared for Saturdays.
MoreIts a very special experience to stay in the hotel on pilatus kulm. We observed the sunset and gazed the night view from the peak. The star sky was also astonishing! It bought me lifer-long sweet memories! The sun rising was a big plus!
MoreGreat foodStaff is very efficient, serve fast and good.Great quality and low price. What else?
MoreVery good and authentic asian food and very friendly owners! Love the place 😊 i recommend the Pho and the Pad Thai but everything else on the menue is delicious aswell.
MoreAn affordable restaurant with nice dishes. The restaurant is quite small and is a little crowded.
MoreTasty and affordable asian restaurant!
Not coming back - do not expect Pad Thai to be good (tasteless, 1/2 portion of fried eggs, noodles were almost colorless, for the price I would rather spend 24.- at another Thai restaurant for great Pad Thai), my fried rice was mediocre (you could taste the hard ‘overcooked’ rice, eggs as well only 1/2 portion (as in they try to spare on the use of eggs)), ordered takeaway curry before and the vegetables were soggy, rice was however too soft, the only good part of our meal were the deep fried wontons. For a self-service restaurant and not completely pleasant interior + decor, it isn’t worth it...
MoreConsistently good service, reasonably priced diverse menu, tasty food served hot and fast.Loads of unassuming atmosphere.A must!
MoreThey used lots of MSG into their food, it makes the taste seems to be good. If you like MSG and don’t mind you need to takes tons of water or coke after eating their food, this is not a bad choice but not for me who likes healthy food.Between, there is also not much service in this restaurant but if you don’t mind about service and you don’t find other choices nearby, then it is a different case.
Morewe spent over CHF 138 in overall but got rejected even a humble request to ask for an extra bowl to share the noodle. even i offered to pay extra money to get a plastic bowl and also got unreasonably rejected by the lady who is probably the owner of the restaurant. I think they have made such a good profit running this restaurant earning from tourist, they don’t actually need to concern returning customers. very bad experience of the service. if you don’t mind services , their food is acceptable.
MoreHad the Tom Kha shrimp & Chillithaibasil Chiken. Was amoize!! Flavour bomb in ur mouth!! Quick, cheap & most importantly Tasty!!! Cleared our plates leaving remmenanats of just rinds of galangal & chewed up lemongrass lol.
MoreGreat place for asian food. They serve proper thai and vietnam food. Very popular with asian tourists. Location is not very charming which makes it authentic. I love the pho bo and the chicken cashew.
MoreThis Laotian restaurant is highly recommended, the food is really really good and authentic and the staff is really nice and helpful. The smell alone makes you hungry when youre just passing by.But remember they only take cash, no cards.
MoreGood soup that was well recommended by the locals. Not as many Laotian options as I had hoped but a nice meal.
MoreGood food, quick service, friendly staff and fair prices. Not a tourist trap. Give it a try, you wont regret it.
MoreExcellent thai food at excellent price. The only downside of this place is that it does not have much space to sit inside and that’s why we usually order take away.
MoreIt was near to the lake side like 5 mins by walk and food was kinda pricy compared to other asian food but i think it is kinda reasonable considering Swiss prices. AND FOOD was really good!
MoreExcellent. Great flavors, big dishes, great service. We really liked the Mekong soup, and the Indian Curry vegetables. The coconut mousse with mango was also great.A bit too pricey but everything else around was just as pricey and the food here was much better.
MoreExcellent quality Asian food, loved the pho and curry. Price is affordable compared to anything around the area. Small place with lots of customers, best have a little patience and get your own seats, but the wait is surely worth.
MoreWe were most surprised to find this kind of offering in Luzern. Excellent selection of South East Asian staples. All the dishes we ordered turned out to be very flavoursome. Great value for money!
MoreWell my review will be solely on the food... as this is more of a fast food type of service. I ordered Pad Thai, pho chicken-soup and beef panan. The beef panan gets a 2 out of 5, the Pad Thai a 2.7 and the pho an 1.5 unfortunately I did not find good/authentic food "taste" at this place. Prices are a little on the high side considering it’s fast food and not full service type of restaurant. Back to the food... the pho had a slightly "Chinese" flavor like a wonton soup or similar, definitely not pho. I’ve had pho in Vietnam, in Cambodia and in Los Angeles where I met a Vietnamese chef who prepares one of the best pho and it’s highlighted in many magazines... the broth that he prepares takes him hours just to get to the level of flavor... and I can attest... also I have tried pho in Westminster a town near Los Angeles with tons of Vietnamese restaurants... definitely this place really gets a solid 1.5. No more to say... if you enjoy real VIet cuisine look elsewhere. You may like the Thai dishes which are just a little better than mediocre... but it fills the tummy "only" nothing else.
MoreBest Asian restaurant I’ve been to in Europe. With fresh ingredients and an authentic space that makes you feel like you are in Asia, things could not get better than this. It is also affordable!!! The staff are friendly and hospitable. Would definitely recommend having the fried fish!!
MoreDelicious Vietnamese and Thai food. Reasonable prices (cash only). Very informal place with few tables...one of the best option in lucern if you are looking for this type of food. Recommended!
MoreFood is good and the price as well. The peanut sauce is really good. Bring cash as they not accept any credit card!!!
MoreWe got some chicken & beef rice meals as well as Tom Yum with shrimp (not in the photoand they were all delish! This place is budget friendly that gives off a home-cooked kind of experience - worth visiting.
MoreFANTASTIC place, great food, amazing taste of Asia.It is simple, dont expect fancy seats and a waiter. Everybody seats in collective tables, the place is always full of people, but it is great nevertheless.Food is absolutely genuine and fantastic. There are around 5 ready options in a buffet (and even these taste greatand a truckload more in the menu, with a variable waiting time. Some drink options include beer, canned juices, water and softdrinks.Portions are generous, the big usually goes for a huge hunger or 2 meals. Take away portions are even bigger.Price is amazing for Swiss standards, a big meal can go for around CHF18.Staff is great and courteous, not all speak english.
