Recently booked for ~20 guests with a mixture of dietary options. From booking, to changing the party size to the night itself, we couldnt have asked for more. The space was unique, fun and easily fit our group and the food was delicious, both for the meat eaters and vegans amongst us.Cannot recommend Khamsa enough - looking forward to returning again soon! Thank you!

Great spot to eat in Brixton.. had the salad platter, a fish tagine & couscous dish which was all delicious & beautifully presented in a welcoming & authentic atmosphere. The decor also gave the place a certain mystique. All in all definitely worth a visit :)

The owner weirdly insisted I leave a review, even though myself and the party I was with clearly had an awful time, but as he incessantly requested here it is:I went here for a friends birthday and I cant say I even remember the food. I unfortunately can say I remember being astonished and taken aback by the sheer rudeness and apparent hatred the owner has for his customers.A few highlights include:-He shouted at some of the guests at our table for switching seats with each other.-When asked if they had a side salad he rolled his eyes in disbelief and snapped I DONT DO LEAVES.-When someone asked him for some olive oil for the bread (which isnt an absurd request for North African cuisinehe questioned what on earth they would need that for.I imagine he enjoys receiving reviews like this and is under some delusion that this attitude adds a level of charm or quirkiness that will keep people coming back. This maybe the case for knit-your-own-birkinstock hipsters. However, this does not work for me.

Amazing food and delicious tea. Only £2.50 corkage so drinking is cheap, great for London and the current cost of living crisis. Bossman is great to have a chat with too! Will be back

Had a wonderful dinner at cozy Khamsa. This is a neighborhood gem, serving up some mouth watering dishes such as fresh salads and flavorful tajines, to name a few. Djamel makes everything in house and welcomes everyone to the restaurant with a wide smile; it was so easy to spot his love for hospitality and for sharing his culture with the world. Will certainly be back. Thank you!

Too expensive for what is offered. We went for dinner and were negatively surprised by the price. The menu did not state that there was an extra charge for the service, nor did it inform us that there was an extra charge for bringing your own drink. In addition to this, they did not have all the dishes offered on the menu (rice for example).I think that the price is too high for what they offer so I will not return to eat in this establishment.I am not questioning whether or not you should pay to bring your drink from outside, what I am criticizing is that you do not inform of additional supplements that you charge on the bill (either drink or servicebut as I see you do not accept criticism. Nobody likes to be surprised when paying the bill, and in my case I got a surprise and it was negative.

It’s my second time here. It’s not just a fantastic meal, but also a lovely night out! Djamal is such a lively chap, taking the time to talk to us all night, whilst cooking up a storm. Such tasty food - 100% try the salmon and the cous cous (it’s all home made - Djamal is a baker by trade). Defo eat the puddings too - a real treat. Highly recommended.

We didnt get the hype. We visited on a Thursday evening and the place was empty. The owner was really friendly but the food was average. The decor is fabulous, really cosy. However, we felt like it was lacking in atmosphere.

To the people of BRIXTON DO NOT VISIT this Restaurant overly priced and very cheap and lousy food do not visit save yourself and eat from a local kebab shop where you will receive better hospitality and food. The owner/ only worker in the restaurant was very rude to me only time he smiled was when the bill arrived. Food was horrible he should be embarrassed charging people those prices. Very horrible experience DO NOT VISIT this place.cheap and tasteless food. But they will charge you a fortune.I ask you please do not visit

Such an amazing place. The first time we came, we didnt know what to expect, but as soon as we stepped in Jamal (the owner and the chefmade us feel so comfortable and welcome. We had a good chat with him and he told us about his origins and the history of Algeria and the restaurant. He has so much passion and he loves what he does, and you can feel and taste it in his food. The food was so good, that we brought a few more of our friends a couple of days after to try it and they all fell in love with the place.Jamal, thank you so much for an amazing experience, definitely made a friend for life :)

The food was absolutely delicious and a super friendly vibe. We had the 7 salad sharing platter to start with algerian bread followed by the fish and the modern couscous as mains. Each dish was excellent and we will have to come back to try the others!

Went for a family meal to celebrate a birthday. Started with the sharing platters and we were immediately blown away by the array of amazing flavours. Im a chickpea-phile, but have to say the aubergine was outstanding. For mains the missus had the fish. In her own words, well cooked delicate spices and a sweetness balanced by lemon flavours. The kids had the cous cous, smooth depth of flavour and that was just the cous cous let alone the sauce. I had the hearty meatballs. Ooh the flavours. Was really looking forward to the rice pudding but was too full. Maybe next time. Thanks to the friendly and welcoming owner chef.

I ate at Khamsa on Wednesday night and cant recommend this place highly enough. The food was delicious and authentic (I had the fish tagine), with every bite full of flavour and goodness. The owner was so warm and welcoming - he was great to chat to and made us feel right at home. We had such a lovely evening here and appreciated the fact you can BYOB - always works out well for costs. Anytime I need a place to eat in Brixton Im coming back here - I am still salivating over the thought of all the tasty food we had!

Been meaning to try this restaurant for a long time but it never seemed to work out with timing. I finally got to go last night and am very happy that I did.We received a warm welcome, great service and delicious food and drinks. We had freshly pressed Apple and Pear juice which were both yummy. Fish Tagine was fantastic as was the Spicy chicken Tagine. The handmade cous cous was bursting with flavour. All finished off with some Algerian and peppermint tea. I must say this was the best Tagine and cous cous that I’ve had in London. Will definitely return.

I almost NEVER review things on Google, but this was a very special exception. This is a hidden gem just outside central London, with delicious, extremely well seasoned food, alongside an excellent owner/chef. He was so friendly and the food he prepared was excellent. I ordered the salmon main, the lemonade, and the rice pudding, and all three were packed with dimension and flavor! So if you’re in the area (or even in the city at all), I implore you to check out Khamsa!

In one word: AMAZING! One of the best meals Ive ever had. Everything is prepared to perfection. Also, I was pleasantly surprised that there was a nice selection of vegetarian options. The atmosphere is wonderful. Its a lovely place for a romantic dinner for two, but the meals and atmosphere are so lovely a group of any number would surely enjoy. Wonderful on all accounts and one of the best restaurants in the neighborhood.

DELICIOUS doesnt cover it! Every bite of the food is fresh and filled with flavour. From the second you step through the door every moment is a delight. The music, the decor, the atmosphere is as enjoyable as the food; although by far the best thing about this restaurant is Djamel. Friendly and informative, he never forgets a face or a flavour. This will soon become your favourite place! Dont forget to try the starter platter (one is not enoughand the rose water!

This is one of those restaurants that I just know the food was done at its very best. And I say it to only a few restaurants. The salmon main with couscous was amazing. I can taste the good olive oil from the fluffy couscous. Salmon was crispy on the outside, with the ginger added slight spiciness, the sauce and the chickpeas .. all the flavors matched perfectly together, I can never get enough of it.You need to try the rice pudding dessert as well. So unique and tasty. I love rice pudding and this is the best I’ve had.The owner Jay is very a highly talented chef. He learned cooking from his mother, and the dishes are tradition with his personal twist.I just love their food so much.Thank you so much for the incredible experience.

khamsa an Algerian restaurant worthy of its name, we thought we were in a museum which proudly exhibits the jewels of Algerian heritage. The owner is very friendly, welcomed us with great friendship, a rich and diversified menu of typical Algerian dishes. personally I loved my (chtitha djej with spinachserved in a terracotta bowl made me travel on grandmas table 😇 and as grandma never lets us leave empty-handed he gave us the famous Algerian bread for breakfast 🥰😋. We really wish you a good continuation and many others inshaallah you represent Algeria very well and you make us proud.

Amazing amazing! I was so sad that the restaurant closed during lockdown but I’m happy it’s finally open again!Let me say that as an Algerian who was craving Algerian food from my grandma who doesn’t live in the UK, this restaurant KHAMSA definitely reminded of all the amazing dishes my grandma would make me, same tastes, same spices, amazing ambiance and music 🎼 !! The Chef who is also the owner is a really cool person who makes you really comfortable and no makes really cool jokes!!The food was delicious, the Pastries were beyond magical! Thanks again and I recommend this restaurant 100000% if you want a taste of Algeria 🇩🇿

One of my new favourite restaurants in London! Beautiful decor, lovely music and a very friendly owner who puts his heart and soul into his restaurant and makes you feel so welcome. Traditional vibe with lots of authentic Algerian decorations on the walls, colourful cushions, crockery etc. The food was unbelievable - delicious salad mezze and the fish tagine was an explosion of flavours. We finished off nicely with a sweet mint tea - it felt like we were being transported to a cosy home in Algeria! All the little details were thought of. Also very reasonably priced and BYOB. Very covid secure with socially distanced screens in place. Cant recommend enough. Looking forward to our next visit.
