Khaing Shwe Wha Vegetarian Restaurant in Chauk
Description
Privilege
Perhaps the friendliest restaurant hosts in Bagan, plus good quality and freshly made food. Not to mention all the free tastings and snacks. Definitely recommend the veg tempura.
MoreLocated in the old town, a nice vegetarian place. Price are reasonable and staff can communicate in English smoothly. Def a place to try out local dishes. Recommended!
MoreExcellent food, prices and very friendly hostess. Im not a veggie but i was absolutely stuffed by the end! Try the peanut curry.
MoreThe best food Ive had since being in Myanmar. Meat eaters wont even notice that theres none to be had here. This was also the most friendly family weve encountered during our stay. Everyone spoke great english and was willing to help teach me words in Burmese. The salads were the best I reccomend the green mango one. Part way through the owner also brought us out a turnip salad with a peanut sesame dressing that was amazing. Highly reccomend. Great price for the amount of food you get. At the very end of the meal we were given a bunch of fruit and small candies to try. It was the perfect sweet treat to round it all out.
MoreReally delicious food with great original taste. They serve really kindly with giving us 1 extra free salad menu & dessert. What a pleasure to try the family direct cook!
MoreAte here twice during my stay. Super nice service, Large Menu. The mango juice is excellent so are the Tamerin and Tea Leaf saladas
MoreNice and reasonable price, owner are very friendly and helpful, recommended
Delicious! The dishes are very fresh and refined. This was without doubt our best meal in Myanmar so far.
MoreWhat an incredible place to eat. We came here twice during our stay and we ordered different dishes each time. All of them were amazzzzziiinnng. Some of the dishes to try are the tomato peanut curry, bean curd curry, fried mustard leaves, tea leaf salad, tamarind salad, aubergine salad, coconut rice. The whole family serving us was incredible!! Such nice people. And special thanks to the waitress for suggesting us dishes and for serving us complimentary food :)))Also dont be afraid to try new dishes. They all are really good and different and worth the try.
MoreDont hesitate to go there! The meals are sooo delicious (we ate there 2 times and i always had the tea-leaf salad and the tomato peanut curry and the golden pumpkin curry, both with coconut rice). Very nice atmosphere with all the photos of former guests at the walls! The staff is super-friendly and helpful. The prices are more than reasonable!
MoreWe are here 2 times a day for 3 days. Its a family restaurant. The food is very good and fresh, but please dont be shocked when you see the kitchen inside ;). Trust me, we never experienced problems after we are here. For every portion they will also serve you a smal snack, green tea and fruits (all included). The family is overwhelming nice. The waitress girl is so cute, beautiful and polite. The mother too - she even draw Tanaka on my face for free. The boy is also a tuk tuk driver. He can speak very good English - you should definitely go on tour with him, he grow up in Bagan, knows the area and every pagoda (inside and outsideby heart. With his help we had the very best sunrise. Thank you for the very best time we had with you :::)
MoreI was very glad for theirs kindly and friendly service. I think that this restaurant is good for Vegetarians. And the prices are reasonable. And I like dessert service. They gave me various fruits. So I enjoyed Burmese fruits. Thankyou for your friendly service. I will surely be back when I travel Bagan once more😊. From 🇰🇷
MoreGood food and have free appetizers and desserts. But, coconut juice is not recommended.
MoreGood food, with free appetizers and desserts. Had pineapple curry, but did not taste the curry. Coconut rice was delicious. Tea salad is different and good. Would come back for more.Ps. Can’t compare food here verse USA or Europe. They have all the high tech equipments, helps, etc...here, they cooked food with simple cookware and lots of loves.
MoreAmazing local kitchen and atmosphere, végéterian variety and great taste. It was the perfect stop between temples and the sweetest and most welcoming Burmese lady!
MoreThe food was just fantastic; hot and sour Japanese Tofu was my choice for the night. The staff were very welcoming and friendly, the service professional and efficient. The prices were very reasonable. Highly recommended!
MoreWe ate there twice during our stay in Bagan and the food was great both times. The menu is big so lots to choose from. They also gave us some fruit and tamarind sweets after each meal. I tried the tamarind leaf salad, the tea leaf salad, the tomato and peanut curry and the coconut rice.
MoreA must in Bagan - delicious vegetaian food and 10/10 service . They look after you so well. We had the mango salad, veg curry and fruits. Were also given extra food to taste free of charge. Will for sure be back whilst here over the next few dats.
MoreHad a great breakfast here after going to the nearby temple. We were the only people there, which made the service excellent. We ordered pennywort salad, pumpkin curry and tomato peanut curry with sides of coconut rice. Everything was delicious and we even got a few sweets after our meal.
MoreGood food and service:I ordered only fried noodles and lentil soup but I was offered some snacks before my order came and 6 kinds of desserts after finishing my meal!
MoreThe owner were delightful to communicate with, giving us really warm smile and pleasant experience. Upon arrival on a warm day, we were greeted with chilled hand towels that really helped to bring down the heat from the sweltering hot weather! "Be a hero, be meat zero" caught our attention and after trying their vegetarian food, it really proved to be possible to go vegetarian because everything is tasty and well suited to our tastebuds. I enjoyed the carrot juice, tea leave salad as well as the fried egg. Tasty and fresh ingredients. Kudos!
MoreThis is the best vegetarian restaurant among a few Vegetarian Restaurants in Old Bagan. There are many different Vegetarian menus available. Dishes are delicious and the price are also reasonable. The owners are very helpful and they take care all customers very carefully. They also provide seasonal & traditional deserts as present after the meals which are also nice and cool.If you are a Vegetarian traveler visiting to Bagan, I highly recommend to enjoy your meals at Khaing Shwe Wha vegetarian restaurant.
MoreGreat restaurant in Old Bagan. The owners are super friendly and the food is amazing. We had the tamarind leave salad and the tomato and peanut curry with coconut rice. Everything was incredible and we will repeat.
MoreWe loved the food so much we came back every day for either lunch or dinner. It’s so tasteful, fresh and suitable for vegans too. I already miss this place. Highly recommend, even my friend who isn’t vegetarian enjoyed this restaurant the most! We tried a lot of different dishes, everything was nice but our favourite is the green mango salad and golden pumpkin curry. Also the service is very great and they are so friendly.
MoreChill local spot, good prices, great food, animal cruelty free. Nice fans, cute lighting, in a well appointed roadside spot between some epic Pagodas.Tea leaf and tomato salads were the perfect thing to cool off the 100 degree temple hopping heat. Best tea leaf salad I have had in Bagan. The staff was of course, wonderful, because Myanmar. Bottom line, would eat here again.
MoreThe staff there are friendly and patient! The food is great too! We tried the Green mango salad, Noodle soup and Tomato Peanut Curry, it was all great! 😋
MoreWe enjoyed the food a lot. We tried the green mango salad, lentil soup and 12 type soup, all were very tasty. People who work here are extremely nice, very helpful. We definetely recommend this place.
MoreDelicious vegetarian dishes for a very reasonable price. Even got some free samples! Would recommend the cauliflower and the tea leaf salad
MoreThe food was really good for the price. Definitely always refreshing to have a nice veggie meal! Would recommend the tea leave salad
MoreGood vegetarian restaurant within this area. They served delicious food with reasonable price. The owner is friendly and nice. The restaurant is clean as well. Recommend to try their tomato peanut curry, it’s delicious and special.
MoreGreat food, tremendous service! Our waiter was very friendly and brought us extra dishes of local specialties and deserts on the house after we chatted with him for a bit. Highly recommended!
MoreIt was all going well, staff were friendly and the mango smoothie was REALLY GOOD. We ordered our food and told them explicitly no egg as we are both Vegan, the waiter repeated manly times that he understood. Once the food was served (tea leaf rice salad and vegetable saladwe noticed the veg salad had a weird sticky dressing. We called the waiter over and asked him again and he said it was a mixture of okra and peanut/sesame paste and spices, again we specified about egg and he said "no egg". We started to eat our food and then a female waitress came over and said this salad has no egg, only mayonnaise whilst holding a jar or mayonnaise in her hand, I took the jar and showed her quite clearly it staying egg on the jar! They did apologise and took the dish away however it immediately put us off our food and so we decided not to eat the rest of our meal. The staff did apologise and proceed to bring out some complimentary dishes however we opted to pay for our drinks and leave. VEGANS beware they clearly dont understand what ingredients are in their food. On the other hand, the tea leaf rice salad was really tasty!
MoreA group of 7 of us went here for dinner and had great, tasty food, free tea and great service. At the end we even got some fruit on the house!Great value; excellent menu; very good place to eat here in Old Bagan.
MoreKind staff, fantastic and tasty food, lovely presentation. A lot of choices. Go and eat.
More😍 BAGAN...An ancient city in central Myanmar. One of myanmars main attraction.😊
MoreLovely owners, awesome food, super cheap. The best in Burma so far. Thanks!!!
Very nice services, they give you appetizer and dessert too for free
Just lovely restaurant with awesome food and very helpful staff. Love the tagline - "Be a Hero, Be Meat Zero". The food was just so yummy and delicious! Kids loved it too!
MoreExcellent choice for lunch. Slightly more expensive than usual but worth it. Good variety of salads and curries. Favourites were the potato curry, eggplant curry and green mango salad. Very interesting guacamole with pumpkin. Helpful staff.
MoreAmazing food (we had tomato and peanut curry, coconut rice, aubergine salad (warm), ginger tea, but were also served a number of appetisers and fresh fruit). I got a few good ideas for my own cooking when back home. Wonderful service - waiters took time to explain to us what and how they cook. In the kitchen, I saw very fresh vegetables and fruit - everything looked organised and relatively clean (well, mind you you arent in Europe or US with very strict hygiene rules). Location is perfect for lunch after visiting major pagodas or the archeology museum, it isnt very far from jetty too. Hope to go back for lunch there tomorrow too.
MoreThe nicest owner ever! Kept on serving us extra tastings of other dishes on the menu as well extra fruits for dessert. Not expensive at all, one of the cheapest meals we’ve had at Bagan. Recommend the green mango salad and Kauchan potato curry!
MoreExcellent menue with lots of vegan options. One of the best restaurants I have been to in Myanmar.
MoreThis place is amazing. The penny wort salat and the aubergine salat were really good and tasty. The staff are so friendly and explain you all that you ask. And they give some extra cacauets and chips and fruit. Really nice place.
MoreDefinitely one of the best restaurants Ive been to in Bagan! The owners are so friendly, so generous and loving and feed you until you cant take any more. The food is traditional Burmese, very tasty, and the sides they offer gratis are really something you cant miss. Cant get enough of this place and I highly recommend going here for a real taste of Burma and I dont just mean food. A great break in the touristic craze of Bagan.
MoreWe ate there twice. Everything we took was excellent, including 4 salads, two main dishes and juice. Service was efficient and friendly. Be careful not to order too much food.
MoreVery friendly owner, good prices, nice salads. Curries are a little bland IMO, but maybe that is because they think foreigners cant stand any heat. But if you cant stand hot curries, then its probably spot on for you.
MoreReally friendly family who runs it. Good vegetarian food. Prices arent too bad compared to other restaurants in the area and they even gave us some banana and honey as well for free.
MoreCame back a few times, had amazing salads and curry. I was even served extra special salad to try as well as peanuts and chips as appetizers and fruits as a dessert. Most lovely staff!! Definitely worth a visit.
MoreThis is one of the best restaurants I’ve ever been to hands down. Family owned fresh vegetarian cuisine. The son even does a puppet show lol. If you’re in Bagan go here. I went two days in a row I liked it so much and would have gone a third had I had another day there. Order the tomato peanut curry with coconut rice - sounds odd but SOOOOOO GOOD. And the pumpkin curry with white rice. Amazing. Thanks to Lonely Planet once again for being completely on point with this recommendation!
MoreThe best place ever! You have to try this food as it is finger licking good! :-We ordered tomatoe peanut curry, noodles, spring rolls and lots of drinks. Everything was perfect and the people who run this place are the nicest and most helpful guys I have met in a very long time. Upon arrival we were immediately given super cold tissues to freshen up, someone also cut cushions on out motorbikes so that the seats wont burn us when its time to leave the restaurant. Its a must visit place while in Bagan with lovely people, yummy food and very reasonable prices. We will definitely be back.
