Hampstead Ln, Highgate, London NW3 7JR, Lucapa
A 17th-century country house within Hampstead Heath with restored interiors and notable artworks.
Beautiful neoclassical architecture.Stunning paintings, most of the works were acquired by Iveagh in the 1880s–1890s and are mainly Old Master portraits, landscapes and 17th century Dutch and Flemish works and British artists. Others were not part of the Iveagh Bequest but were added to the collection after his death because of a connection with Kenwood House. Would highly recommend to see.
My Favourite Place in London. Lovely Afternoon Tea and a walk.
Really nice country manor. Free entry. Lovely staff who conduct talks every odd hour in the music room. The ground floor has most of the good rooms, the library is worth a look. The cafe next door serves some great coffee too!
A very nice place to go visit. Kenwood house has given me a lot of inspiration. Nice paintings and a good place to relax. I also like the dairy house but nobody is allowed to go inside. This place takes me back in time. There are also the gardens outside and the area in general is very pleasant. Hampstead Heath has become very busy in recent years and has attracted yobs and knife point robberies so I tend to stay off those parts off the heath and you dont get any of that around the grounds of Kenwood so this is the place I come to relax.
It is a beautiful and peaceful place in London to visit if you do not have enough time to travel to the English countryside. Well-preserved arts and a delicious cafe in Kenwood.
The location is something i have not imagined to be within the area of London. Vast rolling hills and such fantastic landscape with really matured (oldtrees in the garden. The house has a very good collection of arts and all these for free! Would definitely come back again
This is a beautiful house, on the edge of Hampstead Heath, with an amazing collection of paintings. The highlight of the visit was the opportunity to hear a remarkable and entertaining talk about the Stuarts from a guide called Barbara.
Lovely park and Kenwood House is great to visit. The volunteers know alot about the home and its history. We had a very interesting chat with the volunteer in the library who had an engineering background. The art collection is vast with some of the great masters in the dining room and again another lovely volunteer providing background info.
Love this beautiful place! They used to do concerts on the water here in Summer.A lovely scenic walk with a pond.Nice quaint cafe with a pretty outdoor seating area and yummy cakes. Little English Heritage shop which sells tasty bottles of wine: ginger, cherry flavours.Tip: Park locally and walk 2 mins rather than paying for parking in the onsite, time restricted carpark.
Imposing house set among extensive grounds on the northern section of Hamstead Heath. The view over London from this spot are enchanting. Famous paintings by Rembrandt, Vermeer, Hais, Gainsborough, Reynolds and Turner are on display here. The property was upgraded by funds from the National Lottery Heritage fund. There is a nice restaurant on site with helpful staff.
The estate includes an art gallery, including a Rembrandt.. and there’s a great library room that I loved. I usually come here for the long afternoon walks and the meandering pathways in the forest.
Visiting family for a few days and always go into London city to see the sights. However, this time we opted for something different.Absolutely loved visiting the house and grounds and would definitely return again. The staff were all extremely welcoming and very informative. The cafe however, I feel was over priced for what you get. The person (unsure of his name as no name tagwas exceptionally rude and had zero customer service skills. He didnt realise that the 2 people he was serving was in actual fact my aunt and uncle. My aunt was trying to find her discount card on an email, and being of older generation modern technology isnt her speciality, she was struggling. Rather than being patient or even asking if he could help, his remarks left me somewhat dumbfounded..... "Oh dont worry about it, hurry up and move on, your causing a queue to form and im far to busy ". Followed by a tutt and shaking of the head. There was myself, husband and another couple behind, so in actual fact no queue what so ever.I work in hospitality on Barry island and that really wasnt a queue! His behaviour and attitude was completely uncalled for..
Music festival in the grounds. Most pathways are blocked through the heath with no signs. They made a private area for premium tickets - then put some of the unique food vans on that side so you cant buy half of the stuff available.Leaving the venue to try get out was, in no other way to say it, dangerous. No coordination or interoperability. If my tickets werent free Id complain for a refund
Fabulous house with some very interesting paintings and a great story connected to the house too. Set in beautiful surroundings. Free entry to the house with optional donation to National Heritage for its upkeep. Well worth a visit.
A little gem located in Hampstead Heath, North London with a beautiful setting. Perfect for a walk, favourite spot for dog walkers and cyclists. The cafe adjacent to the museum has great cakes, hot drinks and Sunday roast. Definitely a must see place.
Theres not much to say except that I absolutely love this place! A massive complex of interconnected parks, beautiful sights and so much to do on a warm weekend - from rollerskating on the path, to hiking in the forest-like trails and even swimming in the ponds during summer. A fresh break in the middle of London. My favourite 😍
A historic house in the middle of the woods, connected to Hampstead Heath, a good place to visit.
Small but quite well preserved museum. Its interesting for kids, easily approachable and knowledgeable staff to run through a history. Plenty of stories to discover. There are at least two carparks available for visitors.May in this park is just full of colours and lovely smells. Perfect set up for a date or photoshoot.Everyone could find something interesting.
Garden was magnificent... Rhododendrons in full bloom. Beautiful.
Excellent house and grounds. Cafe did a really tasty Sunday roast which was delicious & reasonable in price. Cake is gorgeous, & good second hand bookshop there. Amazing works of art, although you may want to dodge the room guides. Great space all round. Great example of why English Heritage membership is worth it.
Tickets are free but one can give a donation to help upkeep this historic home. Beautiful gardens with walkways so one can walk and enjoy the various outdoor areas. Really pretty
Absolutely beautiful place to visit. Lovely coffee shops with yummy cake. The grounds are beautiful.Theres a lovely little dog pond a short walk away. Dog heaven! The cafe area is dog friendly
Beautiful park. We had lots of fun with kids participating in traditional easter eggs hunting. Very nice food and good service
Kenwood House a neoclassical villa on the edge of Hampstead Heath. Its for free you can go in and enjoy an outstanding collection of paintings.
First trip here and a real find. Charmingly situated restored home with acres of parkland and gorgeous views across to London and Hampstead Heath. An amazing collection of artwork including some of the finest artists of all time. And yes those Rembrandts, Turners, Joseph Wrights etc are all the real deal. No repos here. Please do talk to the volunteers because they absolutely adore telling you about each room, its art, its design and its history.
Love taking a long walk to Kenwood House. It’s a beautiful place with a tasty cafe featuring homemade cakes, sandwiches and great coffee.
Amazing villa close to Hampstead park.Free entrance and lovely and friendly staff.Very recommend!!!
Great open spaces here. Free to enter grounds with dogs allowed too and these grounds also back on to Hampstead Heath. Great view of London from Parliament Hill.
Absolutely beautiful and historic landmark of London. Great for a visit on the weekend and great atmosphere throughout the grounds into Hampstead heath. The cafe was really great with large selection and very good coffee.Great for kids and people with dogs to run around.Obviously amazing location for a picnic in the sun.Make sure to have the paytopark app or coins for parking!
Set on the edge of Hampstead Heath and surrounded by tranquil landscaped gardens, Kenwood is one of Londons hidden gems. The House, its breathtaking interiors and stunning art collection are free for everyone to enjoy.Discover the vast array of masterpieces hanging in this grand setting, including Rembrandts self-portrait, and be awed by architect Robert Adams magnificent library.
Kenwood House is a marvellous place. The grounds are beautiful and the home is very different and unique. It boasts a rich history with the majority of residents being lawmakers, with a few names you would definitely recognise if you were in the field. Not only is it covered with some amazing artwork, the furnishings are equally lavish and exquisite. The team running and assisting the venue are very helpful and even.I highly recommend.
Beautiful 18th century massive house. Very impressive gardens. Its amazing visiting all year around and experience natures season changes. Minus one star as we were not allowed entrance to the house because we were late 4 minutes past the last admission at 14.:30.
Beautiful place in Hampstead Heath. It always gave me chills cycling out of the woods to see this beautiful manor house. The history of Kenwood house is a fascinating one. Absolutely love the ice cream here during the summer. Huge open plain to sun bathe during the summer, play frisbee, football (cricket and baseball if it isnt busyor run around and admire the sham bridge or have a conversation with the ducks swimming on the thousand pound pool. Some trees you can climb too if youre into that.
I loved my experience of winter lights here at Kenwood. One after the other amazing display of magical lights from start to the end of the trail. Would love to come again during the day and explore inside of Kenwood house.
Christmas at Kenwood - fabulous! Loved the innovative variety of light displays. Naughty churros and hot chocolate too at the market midway through. Parking not on site, but in adjoining roads which was ok. Great outdoor event for the current difficult environment!
One of my fave places to walk in London, beautiful pathways as well as off road forest and fields.. Lots of nature and water to look at, just by Hampstead Heath. Theres a Rembrandt to see in the house as well as a Vermeer.. really special, if you can get on a tour take it, so so interesting
Christmas at Kenwood is absolutely magical experience. The lights in the garden are incredible, music adds spice to the atmosphere. I recommend visiting it during week days when it’s less crowded. Not only the pics will be better but also memories
Great Gardens with amazing views. They are currently holding the Christmas at Kenwood event for the first time and what a lovely evening well spent. Lights, lights and more lights everything just looked beautiful. What a great sensory experience.
We go a lot and it is amazing to see the seasons change ay this location. The house itself has a lovely library, wonderful guides and a lot of history. Watch the movie Belle. I have mold sensitivity and felt pretty bad after leaving the interior so it must be a bit moldy. Just fyi for those sensitive like I am. Happy I saw it though. Great cafe, great job, great walks. And they To start doing Christmas at Kenwood. We went tonight and it was fantastic. They had lots of food carts and hot chocolate stalls and a lot of creative light displays. Then we walked over the the Pine and Needles tree yard a block away from Kenwood house and got a Christmas tree.
A stunning place! With tranquil and peaceful atmosphere! I love the country house there! It has restaurant and cafe in the house, it’s very convenient for the visitors! What a shame we missed the time to go inside. But next next we definitely need to manage the time well and go to visit!
Beautiful building with an incredible collection of artwork inside. It has a very rich history which National Trust volunteers will gladly share with you and answer any questions that you have. The best part? It’s free to enter!
Fantastic collection of art including paintings by Rembrandt, Vermeer, Van dyck, Reynolds, Gainsborough, Romney, to name a few! House looks lovely too and great views of the Heath.
A very interesting visit, on the spur of the moment even though we had not booked. Staffed by voluntary members who are very knowledgeable guides, and know the history of the home. Amazing collection of paintings including very well known artists. Highly recommended. Entrance free and donations optional.
Beautiful gardens to walk around, stunning scenery in the autumn. The house is free to walk around, lots of paintings on display by some famous artists. The library is an amazing room, lots of old books and ornate mirrors. Lovely gift shop and cafe too.

Very well maintained by English Heritage. I learned a lot from the volunteers inside. They are knowledgeable and well mannered, very keen to let you know more. The nearby bookstore is well managed by a lovely lady and there are lots of cute dogs near the park. Definitely worth a visit if you have time. You won’t back home with empty hands / minds
