Kensington Gardens, Kensington, London W8 4PX, Dzhetygara
Royal palace and gardens, with exhibits on former residents like Queen Victoria and Princess Diana.
My wife, her niece, our daughter and I came on Nov 11, 2022. The Palace was easily accessible and the entry fees were reasonable. It wasn’t difficult to spend an hour or two here to imagine the lives of some British Kings and Queens.
Loved every room! Such a great touch with books in each room to explain the highlights and a smidge of history. What a great morning!
Never been before and the weather helped an enjoyable day. The self lead audio tour was insightful and the venue not overly crowded. Gift shop had some lovely items and the cafe ample indoor/outdoor seating. The Pavilion restaurant looked inviting
A great place for British history buffs. Architecture and interior designing were amazing in keeping with Royalty tradition. The brief live presentation free with the tour gave extra rich history not noted in the Palaces signage. Food was available on site, a nice convenience.
Enjoyed my visit to the museum! The exhibits were very interesting & informative and there are even some interactive parts. It was very beautiful seeing all these slices of history.
We had a great time on our tour of Kensington Palace. It was so interesting to see the Platinum Jubilee celebration and witness more intimate portraits of the Royal Family.
Great experience! The park sorrounding is huge with a bug pond with swams, birds, ducks! It feel very peaceful. The palace has lots of memories and photos of real family!
We enjoyed the self guided audio tour of the parts of the palace you are allowed to visit. We wish we could have spent some time outside but it was not possible with the rain and wind.
This palace is managed by Historic Royal Palaces, an independent charity that manage several sites including the Tower of London.I felt compelled to visit Kensington Palace on my visit to London, but on reflection, the are many, many other museums, galleries and collections that Ive preferred to visit which are completely free to enter. Entry here is £20 per adult £10 per child, or you can purchase a Historic Royal Palaces membership which is valid for 12 months and gets you into all their sites for free. I did like that there was a free audio guide, however the content in it, I thought was of mixed value. As a person of colour, the history of the white monarchy doesnt sit well with me and walking through this collection only made me more uncomfortable with it. I dont think the sensitivities are well addressed in this collection - particularly jarring was the statue of one of the royals "favourite slave" complete with slave collar.Personally, Id save my money and go to one of the many other free attractions in this amazing city.
A very lovely experience at Kensington Palace today. Fantastic and positive staff, great exhibits and a superb photography exhibition too. A great cafe too. A very happy day!
Honestly the Inside was pretty boring and not really worth the ticket price, unless you are obsessed with the royal family-which we are not lol. It’s just way more modern than the cool, older history and Tower of London. The grounds were stunning and the park it was located in was gorgeous and fun to walk through. Get the London city pass and it’s included which makes it a better deal.
Its nice to walk around Hyde Park and then come across Kensington Palace where Princess Diana lived , Prince William and his Family Live . Turns out their are also alot of royal relatives who live there. Nice to see the tributes from the public for the Queen at the gate.
One of the most popular tourists destination in London, the Kensington Palace is the official residence of TRH The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge and their children. I liked the architecture and the well maintained gardens around it. If youre in London, its worth a visit!
It was a good visit, the audio guide was great and overall we were able to take photos and wonder around. It was interesting to see the royal families lives and photos.
Having passed this building for so many years it was a joy to finally take a look inside. An interesting exploration of the history of the Monarchy and to witness the rooms that so many have actually been born in, played in and lived in was fantastic. The Memorial Garden outside is very picturesque too.We used our Art Fund passes and were pleasantly surprised it gave us free entry to the entire building. What an extra joy 😀
If youre a big fan of history or British history, or youre just bored, visit Kensington Palace.Located in the west of Hyde Park, in the heart of Kensington Gardens, the Palace looks gorgeous and is a spectacular building.Inside there are 3 main exhibits: the Kings State Apartments, the Queens State Apartments and Victoria: A Royal Childhood.
This place is meh. Only a small, rusty portion of the palace is open to the public as you can see in the pictures. The Kensington gardens (freeare a better spot to relax.
Stunning building and lovely gardens. Adio guide is recommended as this gives the visitor all the information about each room and the history of the Palace.
If you love history, old Palaces and would like to see where the Royals past and present have lived this is a lovely place to visit. If you plan to see Hampton Court, Tower of London, the Banqueting House, Kew Palace or Hillsborough Castle as well, you may want to consider purchasing the “Historic Royal Palace Pass.” This pass is good for one year and gets you in to all of these places for one price. You can visit as many times as you want. The pass can be purchased at any of these places. This pass also allows a discount in the gift shops and restaurants on site.Be sure to walk up the Kings staircase it’s beautiful. It’s fun to walk through the rooms and corridors imagining what life was like when Queen Victoria lived here. If the walls could talk. Also don’t miss the gardens and the new statue of Lady Diana and of course the huge marble statue of Queen Victoria.
Wonderful Royal Palace within easy reach of London City centre. The gardens are open to all without charge. The house itself was the childhood home of Queen Victoria and many others before her. Some wonderful exhibits and areas of interest to be seen.
The beauty about London or the UK in general is how special having so many beautiful historical places, palaces, stately homes that are actually opened to the public. We love the beautiful surrounding of The Kensington Palace. The garden, the pond, the Princess of Wales Playground.Kensington Palace is located within Kensington’s garden and you can walk from the garden here linking to Hyde park, or the serpentine gallery side of Hyde park.It is simply marvellous to be able to have these beautiful Green outdoor spaces.I will Recommend for a walk or taken the kids in the secure playground area.
This was a quaint museum. I felt it was a bit small but there were rooms I loved. It wasnt overcrowded because of the timed tickets. A staff member was so kind and took my picture with the crown "on" my head. Clever!
Great place to visit when in London and youre in the area. Its a very long walk from the other end of Hyde Park, so Id recommend talking the bus.Its not as remarkable as Buckingham Palace or Westminster, but worth a visit
All I can say is wow!! What a beautiful, stunning, gorgeous building! This was the first time Ive visited. The inside is completely incredible, I was blown away with the details of the painting on the walls/ceilings, and the decorating. Theres two sides inside of the Palace, Queens side and the Kings side, and both are beautiful, very high ceilings, tickets are £20 each, recommend you do it online and print them out, bag searches before entering, it isnt the best place to manoeuvre around but there is a lift! Cafe and shop at the very bottom of the building! Super clean and tidy! 5*👍
Venue itself was a little cramped, but everything was clean as you would expect. Garden was fantastic. The food is silly money, a coffee cost £3,30 and a single scone cost £4,50. Bring your own food and you will be ok. Otherwise a pleasant day out.
Very cool historical site with lots of information displayed throughout the palace. Be ready to spend at least an hour in there. Three corridors to explore and typically a bit crowded so be patient. They also have a gift shop with a Cafe.
Kensington Palace and gardens is a wonderful place to spend time. There are plenty of gardens, and even a pond with swans, and lots of walking paths. The sunken garden is one of my favourite places. You can even have afternoon tea overlooking the garden area.
Well kept and if you are a historical buff you will not be disappointed. The one thing we noticed was very little on display to acknowledge that Princess Di actually lived on the premises! Would have loved to see more exhibits relating to all the royals who have called it home. Situated in lovely grounds with a lake you can sit and relax enjoy the gardens with a picnic.
Thoroughly enjoyed this palace. It will take you a minimum of a couple of hours to go through the whole place that’s available for the tour. There’s also a Royal photography exhibition.
I visited early afternoon on a sunny Sunday in May. Before entering Kensington Palace, I walked through parts of the grounds including the Princess Diana Memorial Garden. Indoors, the rooms and exhibits were very interesting. I especially liked learning about Queen Victoria’s life here at Kensington Palace. I also enjoyed the special photography exhibit “Life Through a Royal Lens”. I was lucky that the Palace was not crowded and I could enjoy the exhibits at my leisure.
Buy your tickets in advance to skip the queue. This was a really interesting place to visit. The staff are passionate and great story tellers. If you stick around a room long enough, staff members attending the room will begin telling you stories about the artifacts found in the room. A nice touch to make it stand out.It is filled with life of the royals things. Between the trek out there, the Royal propaganda, and the size of the place I give it 3 stars. I found it average, enjoyable more or less, but average.
Beautiful but expensive place to visit. Unfortunately opening hours arent very reachable at least during spring time, so we couldnt go inside the gates to admire the garden nor could we go inside the residence. Instead we enjoyed wandering in the park which was very amusing and interesting - beautiful surroundings!
Amazing history, artefacts, paintings and the most helpful and knowledgeable staff on hand to answer any questions you might have.A wonderful and majestic landmark in the heart of London and the very place we will always remember Princess Diana and where Queen Victoria was born and became Queen.Beautiful grounds, gardens and architecture.
It was great to visit this place and to walk around the fantastic looking grounds. It was a bit disappointing that we were unable to use the cafe without having a ticket to see the entire of the inside, as the food looked great.
Absolutely loved my time here. As I love history this was absolutely amazing. The staff when asked questions were more than happy to answer on several occasions they amassed a bit of a crowd when talking about various rooms or items in the collections. With various sound clips hidden throughout and interactive elements the atmosphere that was created throughout the palace was just a wonderful experience.I bought a ticket at the door which was no issue what so ever. After buying the ticket I walked straight in. Even if you prebook you will still have to queue, in a separate queue, whilst you wait for your allotted time to be let in for bag checks, which you shouldn’t arrive more than twenty minutes before hand.
Buy tickets online ahead of time for a scheduled hour! It was a nice visit and not too crowded due to the timed slot setup. We went at 12pm and it seemed like a perfect time. It was beautiful outside, many people running and relaxing in the park, sunny with tons of birds. Absolutely beautiful.
Its really worth a Visit here you can see so many beautiful things inside and also the park 🏞 outside is really worth a visit the entry price was 20£ Pounds not as expensive as you might think 😉
We visited Kensington Palace on a Sunday. It wasn’t too crowded. We did buy our tickets online ahead of time which I recommend. It was a beautiful palace and very cool to be inside of. Definitely a must-visit on your trip to London.
Great place to visit especially if you are a historic fan. The Palace has lots of stuff to make our eyes explore the royal life. Great surroundings.. there is a small pond with lots of swans and birds. Children will have fun time. This is located near a very big park and great for families and friends weekend gatherings.
Wasn’t prepared to pay the high entry fee of £20 so unable to appraise the Palace. One thing was apparent seemed unable to get a snack or coffee in the cafe in the grounds which was closed even at 11am and the one by the ticket office was for use of ticket holders only! scandalous! The sunken garden was being renovated but nevertheless was a riot of flowers and the surrounding environs beautiful.
What an amazing experience of Easter Hunt 🥚 🐰🌸 on Easter Holidays in Central LondonVery well orginised, very friendly stuff of the pallace helped to revive exhibition and finish the Easter 🐣 hunt at the same time.We went to the coffee shop at the Palace and it was a very pleasant experience as well. ☕️🍰Thank You Kensington Palace team and see You again soon 🔜 👑
This is the Palace of the "Young Royals" one of many Royal residence throughout the UK.It was a short walk about 5-6 minutes from the Hilton at Hyde Park where we spent almost a week. Also a memorial garden to Princess Diana. We spent about two hours touring at a leisure pace. They had an exhibit "Life Through a Royal Lens" which had a fascinating collection of photos of the royal family many candid and family shots. It was about $25pp for entry. We had a tight schedule, we had a reservation to do "High tea at the Palace" it starts at 34£ pp. Advance reservations recommended.
Stunning architecture among the lush green lawns of Kensington Gardens. The residence of Princess Di is a must visit. It has a lovely cafeteria too..
A lovely palace in 2 halves. One side had artefacts on show and the other seemed to have most of the original features of the rooms, such as the wallpaper, furniture, paintings and flooring. There were some really interesting things like Queen Victorias actual hair and being able to be in the room where she was born. But overall there wasnt a lot you were allowed to see in the palace and it only took an hour and a half to see the whole thing and thats because we stopped to read everything, I think you could do the tour faster. It wouldve been great to see a more modern aspect to the palace, such as where Princess Diana lived.
A look back on the life and times of Queen Victoria and King George’s residency. Beautiful building. Lovely cafe and outside seating area. Also the Sunken gardens hold the new Diana statue.
What a lovely place! I visited Kensington Palace just before Valentine 2022 with my boyfriend. The place is very warm and cozy, we visited all the rooms that are opened for public. The King’s gallery is absolutely stunning with finest paintings of the Royal Collection. The King’s Staircase is so marvellous. Don’t forget to visit Jewel room where they display Queen Victoria’s magnificent diamond and emerald tiara, Kensington Palace Gardens, Kensington Garden where you can see so many swans and duck in such a peaceful and joyful view.Reading about the love of Victoria and Albert in Kensington Palace also an unexpected fulfilment for our Valentine date 💗
I went mental over the luxurious details, the rooms, the decorations, the classical objects and the history. Ask for the "modern tech" ( wind map for planning sailing of shipsand weather forecasting system, they are over 200 hundred years and amazingly accurate to this days.
Lovely place to visit & learn about the history of this royal house, including the childhood of Queen Victoria.Plenty of knowledgeable staff available.Had to book tickets & time slot online, no entry available without tickets. Photography allowed but no flash or videos. Shop, refreshments and restrooms available.
Absolutely brilliant place. So much to see and learn. Loved the Style in the Making exhibition and seeing up close Princess Diana’s wedding dress. I definately recommend visiting Kensington Palace and look forward to visiting again.
Lovely to see Princess Dianas wedding dress. The guides were so knowledgeable. Very interesting story about the moment Queen Victoria knew she was Queen of England. The guides made it come alive
