Beautiful gardens to wander around in. Plenty of different areas to view so even if its busy youll always find a quiet spot. Public toilets are available throughout and there a few places for food and drinks plus a gift shop. Bring your camera if you have one as its a beautiful place for photos.

You have to go if you are in Kanazawa but I was underwhelmed by it. Maybe because we went in early November and it’s not as green as summer and too early for foliage or not enough trees that turn during the fall. The pines covered by umbrella like ropes is pretty but it’s just one iconic shot.

A beautiful garden in any season. We went near closing time and it was almost empty, making it very peaceful.

Lovely, tranquil garden boasting a variety of shrubs, trees and flowers. Some very elegant arrangements and plenty of places to admire the scenery dry or have a quick rest.Very accessible by bus from Kanazawa station and close to the castle, so it’s possible to combine visits.

It is a beautiful, well-kept and tidy park, with beautiful trees and refreshing waterways. However, I did not find the soothing atmosphere and the silence of the small Japanese garden.

One of the best gardens in the world even when not in bloom. Among the top 3 in Japan but considered the most beautiful of them all, some of the views are world famous and rightly so.A real, unmissable gem.

It was picturesque. The place was huge, but it was a beautiful garden. If you are not really into nature, you would probably get easily bored. There are food stalls outside as well where you can buy mochi, soft cream, and others. Their gold soft cream is a must-try.

We went there at night for light-up.We could enter free without waiting line! There are waiting line in the park but we could easily see everything within 40mins.Although it was freezing cold, the view was magnificent.I don’t know whether the event is happening through the year, but I highly recommend you to visit there at night.(The photos would be much more beautiful and clear with camera, not iphone;)

This is an amazing place. Get the Samurai Pass and you can visit here unlimited times. Morning and afternoon allows you to capture the suns rays - if possible, visit during a "night" event....

One of the top three must-visit Japanese garden in Japan, located in city-center of Kanazawa. They say if you have a chance you should visit here every season just to see Kenrokuen in different color palette. The entrance fee is only 320 yen and it will take about an hour to walk around the park. It was amazing in Autumn. The park has an annual light-up event in November held from 5.30PM onwards. I went twice, once in the day and once in during the light-up. I would say that it is worth the visit. Both times give you different feeling and vibes.

I love this beautiful garden, the Japanese landscape is indeed perfect. Just next to Kanazawa castle grounds. Very wide garden, well maintained, I love how they take good care of this garden especially to the century old trees. Relaxing to stroll around the garden. Souvenir shop is also available. Foods stalls are available outside too.

One of the most famous garden in Japan. Winter season is beautiful while spring shows the garden at its best. Some evenings the garden is open for a beautiful stroll around the lake.

Fantastic garden and one of the largest Japanese garden in japan. Kids will have super fun inside the garden and you can relish ice cream topped with Edible golden foil. Castle is also very nearby. There are kimono rental shops in Kanazawa . You can rent kimonos and walk to garden and castle . Completely calm and good place to spend quality time with family . Fukui dinosaur museum and Shirakawa go are easily accessible from this city.

It really depends on in what condition you go. I came here in winter three years ago and I thought it was quite boring compared to other Japanese gardens, but this year it was fantastic with snow and almost zero tourist. Also, the garden is a lot larger than it appears on map. You can easily spend hours just by strolling, taking photos, and enjoy a short tea break.

This is truly one of Japan’s three best gardens, and also gets a lot more foot traffic than it’s sibling Korakuen Garden in Okayama. There’s no shortage of photography scenic spots. Expect some wait time if you want to capture the stone lantern by the large pond. There was quite a line when we visited, and everyone usually turns to the party behind them to politely request them to take a picture for their group. A statue that commemorates Prince Yamato Takeru is erected at this garden as well.

Beautiful Japanese gardens with free entry when we went (early April). A must see if in Kanazawa, especially during the cherry blossoms. Slightly overcrowded at midday but worth it if you enjoy visiting gardens.

This place is probably one of the largest cultural park in Japan. In this place, you can enjoy the landscape of an old feudal Japan, perfectly preserved. The big pond-lake-like with one of those traditional Japanese house around the edge, all kinds of old trees (probably hundred of years), some important spot like statues, fountain etc are signed with simple explanation in Japanese, English and other languages. Since this park is high up, you can see the city from it. Don‘t forget to enjoy the semi-traditional gift shops offering presents from both modern-traditional. Also the famous gold-leaves kanazawa ice cream, one of the signature this from this city can also be found here even though you may have to pay a little bit higher for it. Come when it is spring, so you can enjoy the park full with pink sakura blossom. The ticket for one person is less than 400 yen (4 US dollars).

This famous garden is supposed to look beautiful in any weather/season. We put that to the test in March while it was raining and slushy. I’ve been to other Japanese gardens that look beautiful in the rain, but this one was just so-so. I’ll check back again in warmer weather to see if things have improved.

Doesnt matter in which season your visit this beautiful garden, always theres an amazing view to stare. I went at the begging of cherry blossom season , and the few trees bloomed was so cute!Normally theres a lot of people all the time, so better go super early.Inside theres some traditional Japanese restaurants which look amazing. But of course, expensive. The ticket is around 300¥ but you can go out and get it the whole day. Maybe you can go in the morning and then comeback in the evening.

This huge, manicured garden is magical to wander around. You do have to pay a small entry fee (maybe 300¥ from memorybut it is well worth it.The garden has a variety of areas to explore so definitely allow enough time. There is a cherry blossom grove if the season is right, a tea house (thay was unfortunately booked for a function when we visited, a lake in the centre and more.In winter you will also get to see many examples of the roped tree support structures that Kanazawa is well known for. The effort to erect these each year boggles the mind!

Winter, without snow, is really not a good time to visit this famous garden. I could see the potential, only if I had visited in spring or fall. There are quite a lot of old pines trees that looked amazing and the garden is well maintained, especially in preparation for the snow. Nice walk and the entrance fee of 320 yens was very reasonable.

Its a beautiful garden. Right up there with many of the zen gardens that I went to while traveling Japan. We were there in October and everything was still green and lively. It was a lot of fun to walk to all of the areas. Its not as large as Osaka Castles grounds, so it was a good area to go around in about 2 hours, which is what we had.

One of the most beautiful gardens that I have seen. We have been in the middle of December and part of park was closed, however it is still very good. And there is no much people so you could enjoy park without crowd.Would definitely recommend you go here while you staying in Kanazawa.

Definitely one of the most beautiful garden in Japan. Visited this place in fall season back in 2016 and decided to come back in 2019. The view is simply stunning. Entrance fee is only 310 yen and elders received free entrance. Night illumination entrance is free for all visitors.

Beautiful garden close to the city but somehow I expected more for the top three most beautiful gardens in Japan. Lots of beautiful trees in a manicured garden. You can go later in the early evening to watch the well lit trees but photography is hampered by poor lightings. Visitors aplenty so be ready to go early.

Beautiful and quite large garden. It costs 310円 to get in but you could be there for hours so its well worth it. Theres also a panoramic view that can be seen from one part of the garden, it makes for great pictures. Its also very close to Kanazawa castle so you can move from one spot to the other quickly.

Stunning historic Japanese garden. Very spacious, so even though it was busy, it didnt feel crowded. Plenty of shade and some seating, so it was nice even in the hot summer months, especially when considering that it is designed to be beautiful year round.

This Kenroku-en Garden is one of the most beautiful gardens (top 3 to methat Id ever visited in Japan. Went there during Fall and I was mesmerized by near complete beauty of each corner of the Garden. The striking foliage (then), fountain creating mist of waters, well shaped ponds and clear streams of water. And the yellow robes, protecting the trees during winter (as I was being toldcreated "lantern-like" designs on parts of the landscape. The hilly path to the top was interesting with the view at the top, over looking the garden - phenomenal.

Beautiful and piece full garden. Im in love with it. We spend a good 2 hours walking sitting and wa dering around this place. Its stunning in its serene environment. The water everywhere makes it tranquil. You hardly notice other people. Only the ones that talk loudly and when everyone wants to take the famous pictures

BEAUTIFUL. This is ranked way up there in terms of the best garden Ive ever set foot and seen. Everything about it is so delicate but yet so grand (and I never thought I would use such a word describing a garden). I came here just before spring and the flowers were starting to blossom. I could take a book and sit here all day and soak up the atmosphere. Strongly recommend you set aside 1/2 hours to walk and not rush through the experience.

A very beautiful garden, well kept and nurtured trees. You can feel the love, respect for the nature and care on the garden. Every tree has a story and unique in character. You will be awed with the sight. The moss adds character to the landscape. I only wished I have more time to explore and enjoy the garden.

An absolutely incredible place.Normally photos can make a place look better, but in this case photos dont do justice. Very nice view. The park is very well decorated and maintained, just as the Japanese style. The most iconic Japanese style of protecting the tree branches broken by heavy snow accumulation just become a nice decoration for the trees. Best view would be early morning or late afternoon. And probably best time of the year would be spring or autumn.
