Hikers & dog walkers are drawn to this natural area with trails though open spaces & woodlands.
I stopped by but did not enter the preserve. Im guessing its a rather beautiful experience in the summer time when its green and perhaps a runny creek.
Great hiking experience,Very clean you really conect with nature
great small gateway from the city! quick walk and beautiful oaks to see. Go when the river is running its just beautiful
I love this nature preserve ! Always great for a walk and to take pets, but please clean up after them ! Also watch out for plants that you may not want to touch , it’s nature after all !!!
Yo need to go, so you can walk around and see the beautiful landscape and the nearest places around the park... Im pretty sure that you would love it too.
Awesome place to take family members for a nice stroll in the multiple trails offered.
Beautiful little place to go for a easy hike, have a picnic or take photos.
Ive been going here since I was a child. Beautiful, peaceful place for an easy walk.
Interesting place for a brief walking trail w or with out your dogs. Good place for a picnic as well while looking at the Giant Oak trees.
It is a great place to take your dog, especially if you have a small yard. It is beautiful, even without the water running. We love to hike on the trails. There are no tickets to buy.
We found this walk on Google Search. Slight elevation change and an easy walk that can be broken into smaller walks. Simply beautiful.
It was very different park ranger added more trails..... They also added some 3 restrooms not no porter potty restrooms either... Theyre new modern with a lil bit of rustic twist.... Good place to go for a walk and explore the preserve
Beautiful place for a hike, they have a picnic area as well.
Beautiful old oak trees
Very nice place to walk in the city. Has several different trails throughout. All are pretty short, around 1/2 mile each so doing several is easy. Can be busy on the weekends. Very enjoyable
Great place for an easy nature walk. Very easy flat terrain with some dirt trails that can be uneven but no real incline. So a good start for anyone that just want to be outside.
There are picnic benches you can use and bathrooms! Area is clean and well kept. Nice little hike.
We often do trails at Kaweah Oaks, but today while walking the Gravevine trail, we found ourselves face to face with a good size white tail bobcat...It sure gave us a great scare! We didn’t notice any signs or notifications of bobcats living in the area...Nevertheless, we enjoyed the trails, and ended with a nice lunch by the picnic area.
Beautiful park with great trails to walk. In January the weather was lovely though much of the foliage was in early stages of regrowth. Animal life consisted of quite a few bird species, the herd of cows that lives in an adjacent pasture, and lots of squirrels - with the exception of a few small reptiles and one surprised bobcat. For people interested in Geocaching, there are several fun finds here too!
Outdoor fun, easy trails, unguided🥰exploring nature.🍀🌱🌳🐍🐢🦎🦝🐰🐴🐿️🦨🐦🦅🦇🦉🦃🐜🐛🦋🐞🍊🍄🍃🌳🌻🌼its free! Like zero dollars $0.00. Bathrooms available... Just a nice place to go and get outside. Tons of trees to climb🌳🌳🌳🌳🌳.
Great place for event or family pics. Nice trail for jogging as well. Easy to kill a couple of hours just walking at a leisurely pace. Great for the kiddos and the pooch.
Nice little walk (not exactly a hike). Virtually flat, more than 3 miles and has some interesting features. The Elderberry Trail (which isnt on AllTrailsloops through a wooded area, and Wild Rose and Grapevine are two other short loops that take you around some irrigation dams. Walk past some cow pastures. Looks like there are some "fitness trails" I didnt go on as well. Oh ... and there are some picnic table and restrooms as well!
Great, safe trail to walk. Sunsets are absolutely beautiful. Great inspiration place for photography.
Beautiful! I highly recommend walking here. Elderberry trail is like a rain forest!
Pretty kid friendly hike. Beautiful. 3 bridges with water under. Bridges do not have sides on both sides, so there is a fall warning. Hold on to little ones. Paths are clear and there are benches for eating, though blocked off recently due to covid.
Great place to see nature. Nice and maintained trails. Clean restrooms. Not crowded. Kids loved the little adventure.
Beautiful as it comes, no matter what time of day. Different trails that you can choose, and children can go on as well. This hidden gem of beauty is sure to catch your eye everywhere. ❤🏞
Beautiful place for a family outting! ... Or to go alone and enjoy the scenery... Or take pictures.
Easy to get to for a flat but scenic hight without having to drive up into the mountains.
One if the only few "hiking" spots near Visalia if you dont want to drive up to the Sequoias. There is 4 -6 path you can walk around all ranging in different distances. Its beautiful no matter the time of year. Dogs are allowed on leash and there are normally a bunch of cows for kids to look at.Its a beautiful piece of nature so take of it!
Loved it. Very refreshing and my dog had a great time
Easy, friendly trails. Some of the trails may be closed due to rain or fallen trees, but youll always find some open. Very kid-friendly. No major obstacles to worry about. Dirt paved, so youll rarely find uneven routes. Good place to walk.
Great trails and very pet friendly. Beautiful when the river is flowing and the trees are all green. Great place to take a walk and enjoy nature without having to go so far from town!
Wonderful place to visit and pack a lunch and enjoy the outdoors and restrooms available
Close to home! Nice nature walk. Few people.
Its a good place to visit when youre not able to make a trip to the mountains. Sometimes its hard to believe its right off the highway until you vaguely hear the cars going by from some of the trails. Its well kept, the bathroom has always been clean and well stocked when Ive gone, and theres hardly ever anyone there. Just bring water, they dont have any water fountains there.
Nice little spot for an easy hike
I truly love this place! Nothing calms me down and gives me peace as much as being in nature. I enjoy walking the many trails, sometimes encountering bobcats, and listening to the sound of rushing water. This preserve reminds me how precious the earth is, and why we must protect it.
This place is SO AWESOME!!!! It has several different trails you can take that are great to enjoy the outdoors. We love taking the kids out here to unplug and get some excercise. If youre quiet you might even catch a glimpse of some bunnies or other native species that call here home. Its nice that the city set up this spot out here that gives us an idea of what the natural state of this area was before we started cutting it all down and building our city. Its very interesting to think that not too long ago the whole area looked like it does out here. Its mind blowing to think about. This is definitely a must see experience that everyone needs to try at least once.
Very nice, and therapeutic place to walk.
Nice nature walk that is easy for the whole family. Good place to tire your dog out. Beautiful views.
Went for a hike and it was an easy hike for our kids. Its mostly dry right now and the river is completely empty. Easy trail for families with young ones. Also CAREFULL OF POISON IVY its everywhere!
Oct 2018 update: I recently visited here again for the first time in 5 years and was disappointed in all the graffiti and gang tags I saw on the bridge of the Grapevine Trail. This needs to be cleaned up. When I used to volunteer there for the Nature Conservancy back in the late 80’s we had a problem with illegal hunting on the property. We rather quickly put an end to that with regular patrols (both day and nightto catch hunters in the act and report them to the Sheriff’s office. They need to do something similar to prevent the vandalism on the Grapevine Trail bridge. That or just regularly remove the graffiti until they give up or you can catch them in the act.Great location. Only a 15-20 minute drive from Visalia and offers a glimpse of what the area looked like 100+ years ago. Native Kaweah Oak Trees are spectacular. I dont like the cows on the property, but understand its a revenue source. I remember when this property first was sold to The Nature Conservancy back in the early 80s. I was there on "opening day" when it became open to the public. At that time nearly every large sycamore tree on the Preserve was filled with Great Blue Heron nests. It was quite the spectacle. Unfortunately, too much foot traffic and the herons have moved on elsewhere. However, despite this, its nice to see that KOP looks much the same today as it did that opening day about 30 years ago. Recommended.
great get away from the city. the trails are simple but full of beauty if you really grasp the history detail embarked here at kaweah oaks preserve. the picnic area is perfect. the time i went which was for mothers day, the picnic area was clean and the shade provided by the oak tress was very convenient. great place to walk your dogs. our dog loved to jump in the water after a long hour hike. 100% recommend.
I had a chance to visit the Kaweah Oaks Preserve a few semesters back for a field day. When I went last time the banks were brimming with water and the ground cover was much thicker. These pictures were taken pretty consistently around the little trail over the bridge. I was able to explore much deeper because there was so little build up of growth.Great place for young kids, and they also have larger trails for people who are looking for bigger trails. I just so happen to came with my 2 y/o daughter.
This place is in my top list so far for hikes with a kid. Theres a great picnic area that doubles as a kid wonderland. Only suggestions would be if youre going with only one kid to have some toys on hand to help entertain them if you dont want to do the playing (Or youre a 6 foot giant like me and dont easily fit into tiny child forts)
Great place to get some exercise, been going out for years, great trails and nice views. Some trails have benches, also bring water as theres no water except before you get to the trails. They recently put in bathroom facilities as well.
Beautiful quiet place to commune with nature. Excellent trails to hike with family. Beautiful view of the mountains. Perfect during spring time. Not sure about summer unless you get there early.
Great area for short hikes not far from town (visaliaand great nature views.
A good place for a family outing. There are not a lot of places to hike near Visalia proper but this is a great place for nature walks especially with kids. There are several trails of varying lengths with interesting things to see along the way.
