Kato dool - Restaurant in Aswan, Egypt
Kato dool in Aswan
Description
Privilege
Pros: relaxing vibe, friendly and helpful staff, clean room, nice to stay in the village where it is much quieter than Aswan city.Cons: WiFi didnt reach our room, no water provided, tricky to get to the other side.We ended up using Careem and In Driver (rideshare appsto get over to Aswan when needed. 30min drive and roughly 60EP for rideshare. Some wont come to get you as it is quite far.Plenty of food options nearby.
MoreFriendly staff!! Very clean. We arrived late at night and they left the kitchen open for us. Friendly dog. The cats seem friendly but are not. Amazing sunrises. Breakfast included. This is a must stay if you want to stay in the Nubian village. The Nubian market is a 1 minute walk from the front door!
MoreCute, different type of hotel, but I love how caring snd kind people are. Beautiful view of the Nile River from room number 8!
MoreI wish I could stay at Kata Dool. But right now, they are super busy in their own world. They doesnt have time to reply to my enquiries via whatsapp & emails. Also, not even recieving phonecalls. This is happening even before the reservation, cant imagine what happens after I pay them.
MoreWe loved our stay in Kato Dool. Such a beautiful experience, just a couple things weren’t the best; the lighting at our room (very dark roomand the size of it. Maybe ideal for only one person. Also, the staff could be more friendly or maybe they didn’t feel good speaking english?Anyways, overall the hotel is in a great location, food is tasty and all went smooth with check in and out.Very important, is not a hotel thing, in town expect harassment from the locals. They will tell you one price and at the end they’d want more money or tell you they don’t have chance or do some kind of scam. This is really sad because is a nice place to visit, but I felt quite insecure to go outside the hotel. Get prepared!
MoreBeautiful hotel with eye catching color. Right on the edge of the Nile. Very friendly staff as well.
MoreThis hotel is situated right next to the Nubian village. The shopping street and the beach are at walkable distance. Nearby houses have pet baby crocs which we can touch. The hotel rooms were cozy and each room has a balcony. What was insanely cool was some crazy physics phenomenon of the sound waves inside the igloo shaped room. When two people talk from two specific points in the room, it feels like they can hear each other inside their heads. In our room it was possible with one person on the midline of the bed and other person in front of the bathroom door. It might be different spots in other rooms, but it is worth exploring it. It was fun and trippy!Other positives include the colorful vibe for good photos, a good restaurant, water sport activities like kayak, some friendly stray dogs within the campus. They arranged taxi to the airport. There were a few let downs. The hospitality was good, but was not as warm as expected. We found it was a bit too commercial. The wifi router was placed only in the reception and the wifi did not reach inside the rooms or the signal was very weak. Another downside of the hotel was that we could not drink alcohol outside our rooms.Overall, we felt it was a bit overpriced but it was a good experience.
MoreThe hotel is clean and small. They provide drivers to go to the surrounding touristic attractions (Aswan, Abu Simbel, Philae, Kom ombo...).The bedding is great (by far the best Ive tested in Egypt). You can also eat there and its good! However, its too expensive for the services they provide. The wifi is non-existent, rooms dont have windows (I guess for keeping rooms fresh), bathroom is super tiny...There is strictly nothing to do around the hotel by walk (i.e. you must book a driver for every single activity).
MoreBeautiful place, nice village, colorful hotel we definitly recommand Kato Dool! The room are clean and the people working here really kind and accomodating. They can book for you taxi driver, excursions in Abu Simbel, Philae temple and other places. You can trust this place to spend a great time.
More3 stars only for the service . People are very warm and genuine . However , basic accommodation especially if your travelling with kids . Very very pricey for the facilities they provide. Skip if you are going with kids .No wifi and no water provided . There is nothing much to do in the village , everything is double the price .upkeep is needed for the property. For the price they charge you can get a good 3/4 star hotel . Need to improve upkeep .Overall very basic experience , but I would say the people of village are very welcoming .
MoreI had the pleasure to reside at Kato Dool at west Shail غرب سهيل. The hotel is clean, the staff is amazingly nice, the room is fabulously clean and the view is charming. The hotel is one inch close to the river Neil. The breakfast is satisfying and the food is authentic and delicious. Go there and ask about Rowaida, Ahmed, Ahmed and Anwar Shaiba. You feel you are with your family not just hotel staff. They helped with going to the market in Aswan, and with booking my returning back to Cairo. They don’t leave any detailed information without making sure you are staying in safe and leaving in safe status. The hotel is close to the Bazar center too. If I have to come back, I will chose Kato Dool hotel to stay and bring my family and friends to enjoy the amazing sites. 👍👍👍👍👍
MoreWe literally had such a pleasant experience at this hotel from the moment we arrived!Staff is super friendly, food is so good and view is so relaxing.Highly recommend!
MoreGreat place to stay! Location, room, facility all wonderful. Wifi not too strong and only in dining area, but perfect otherwise.
MoreBest day in Aswan, no need for a tour, just catch a boat and walk the village.
Very beautiful and wonderful place on the Nile
The hotel-Nice tasty DinnerCold A/CNO Wi-FiPeople were nice but due to Ramadan no one came to work. You cannot find any food. We had to check out a day early we were bored. The entire town shut down. Hotel definitely not open at this time.Overall 3.8
MoreKato Dool isnt just a hotel, its an experience! It is located right in the heart of the Nubian Village in Aswan, Egypt. The food is delicious at the restaurant!! Some of the best food Ive had in Egypt. The rooms are in the shape of a beautiful dome. I meditated, relaxed and slept in utter peace. The dome shape also makes it incredibly weatherization. It is cool during a hot day and is warm when its cool at night. The Tours are well organized and you really cant beat the price. I did the local Aswan Market, Abu Simbl, and the Nubian Museum.Lastly the people make this place incredible. I left with family. Shoutout to Rowida, both Ahmeds, and Bakr for making my trip amazing!!My heart is in Aswan and I am so grateful I got to spend it at Kato Dool (big house in Nubian).Instagram: @nobleisglobal
MoreLovely place perfect Nubian food ⛵🎉 gorgeous view
Loved the house .. we arrived there so early is was 7am .. they cleaned table for us and we got a welcome drink 🍷🍷was real refreshing then we got upgraded to room with amazing view 🌅🌅😍 also 2 water bottles and fruit plate 🥰 was such a wonderful stay .. definitely will go back
MoreBeautiful Nubian House on the Nile River. Friendly staff, good open buffet breakfast, delicious paid lunches and a very good location in the middle of the market.
MoreThe view and the food 5 stars...The bedrooms are little and dark
The food here is amazing! The staff is friendly and the view is phenomenal 😍
We ordered the vegetable with rice and bread. Was nice tasty food. The portions are of a very good size. 2 of us could share it and will ourselves well. The service was a bit lethargic, but I guess that’s the Nubian way, to relax and do things. 😊You can see the Nile from your table and the colours of the restaurant are Instagram worthy! We took a boat from elephantine island to get here. So plan your travel accordingly.Pass by the Nubian village to take in their way of living!
MoreOne of the most beautiful places , and their people are really sweet and hosting , Nile view is more than wonderful , location is viable , activities are beyond interesting and definitely will love to visit them again .My family and I had a great time
MoreI stayed at this hotel for 4 nights. The concept is genuine and executed nicely but the rooms need attention with poor construction. This wouldn’t take much to fix. Just some doors and windows with bad hinges. The floor slopped down in one place and felt unsafe. The staff need to be trained in hospitality. Two were nice but in general hardly a hello or goodbye from anyone and very direct almost abrupt communication. No water, you have to go out into the surrounding area, the Nubian village, which quite frankly is just an over priced tourist trap where you can buy water for 20 pounds! I suggest the hotel gives the people who stay there a free bottle of water everyday with breakfast, a little priceless gesture which really goes a long way.I’m general there are very poor food options in the surrounding area. They will rip you off and give you tourist prices. The wifi doesn’t work. I spoke to them and they said there is nothing they can do. They just have one home based router for a whole hotel. They need to contact a professional to install a proper wifi solution for a hotel. The buffet breakfast was welcome but once again you are on your own ordering your coffee or tea. There is no service.Taxi services from the hotel to Aswan train station or airport is over priced.I’m general you are trapped here, away from everything, for better or worse.
MorePrettiest place in the village starting from the very friendly staff to the views and good tasting oriental food. Kayak there is also very fun special thanks to the little boys Mohamed taha and his friend ahmed for showing us around made our last day the most beautiful♥️🌾
MoreKato Dool is the best hotels in Nuba village as per our great experience during Jan 2022, the staff is very friendly, cheerful, pleasant and helpful; from the top at the time of reservation when we dealt with Ahmed who was responsible of the preparation of the stay and he was so competent and honest, till the housekeeping staff who was very clean and organised. The hotel location, environment, buildings, food and beverage, was very nice and the room style Nubian was great. The hotel directly on the Nile, you can reach it by boat or by car, and from the hotel you have close access to the middle of the Nubian market.I highly recommend Kato Dool for the travellers to Aswan Nubian village
MoreOne of the best Nubian houses with great hospitality and professional staff with cheerful smiles, amazing view and delicious food. Rooms are convenient and so clean, located in the heart of the touristic market. Highly recommend and definitely will go there again.
Morei was just there in few minutes with my family and an infant, no one welcomed us or cared to prepare a table even i went to the receptionist and asked him to, i didnt try their services (cause they did not give a chance to), i dont recommend this careless stuff
MoreVery chill place, good food, good service. My wife and I spent two very comfortable nights at Kato Dool. The air conditioning in the room worked like a charm and the bed was super comfy. The only downside is that it is a bit farther from the city center.
MoreWe recently stayed in this nubian village house. Its a beautiful house with nice service and good local food. I gave 3 star only because the room was very hot, air conditioner was unable to cool the room and the fan was slow and was circulating the hot air due to hot roof. It was more comfortable sitting outside than inside. If they improve the air conditioning i would give it 5 stars. The person who runs the restaurant is very well behaved. One more issue is the wifi which works only in the restaurant area, not in ur room.
MoreAn excellent place along the Nile and will wonderful hospitality and outstanding food. Get the included meals (menu is on their Facebook), which are huge multicourses of a main (Nubian chicken is the best), side (molokhia is unusual and different), salad, tahini, bread, rice. Probably my favourite meal in all of Egypt.Stayed in the heat of June and the airconditioning worked a treat. Its on the quieter west side of Aswan and the Nubian village is lovely to walk through, although you will obviously get people wanting you to buy.
MoreOne of the best stays in Aswan inside a Nubian Village right on the Nile River. Breakfast is divine! Views are magical! The rooms are super clean with the most gorgeous balcony overlooking the Nile and the Village. Staff is kind, helpful, and extremely sweet. Honestly a fantastic stay Id recommend for anyone planning to visit. Also very affordable.*Pro tip: If you are a foreign traveller make sure to get a security certificate if you want to visit Abu Simbel.*Double pro tip: make sure to bring a swimming suit to go for a dip in the Nile on the Terrace.
MoreThis hotel is so amazing its hard to describe in words but the best part was the team and manager Ahmed. We made such good friends. This hotel shows the true culture loving culture of the Nubian people. We love you guys.
MoreI loved this place and I recommend it highly. The Nubian village its set in is tranquil and colourful on the shore of the Nile. The staff did there upmost to help me and the food was excellent with large ac rooms with sizable beds too. Thank you Kata Xo for your hospitality and kindness.
MoreVery good service, good prices and nice views and decorations. Very honest people
MoreVery nice place to stay at! Staff are really helpful, friendly and professional... planning to go again at the first opportunity i have... cosy, clean nubian style place with a breathtaking nile view♥️♥️ highly recommended
MoreThe place is extremely beautiful the view is breath taking with that moment of silence the Nile breath Nubian dinner magnificent colors and the owner Hakim is so friendly highly recommended ❤
MoreClean, beautiful scenery and lovely staff.Expensive though.
A perfect location, friendly staff with sn amazing Nubian interior & exterior theme with a breathtaking outdoor Nile View. Comfortable beds and spacious clean rooms. Everything was truly perfect👍👏😍
MoreBeautiful and unique resort overlooking the Nile. The food is delicious with lots of local dishes. The staff are very helpful and friendly. And the rooms are beautiful and full of character. Definitely my favourite place whereI stayed in Egypt. It is definitely worth the price for the experience it delivers. Also very close to a Nubian village with lots of shops. Highly recommend for a more authentic experience.
MoreI had a very bad experience with the restaurant, stuff is totally unprofessional & they ignored and kept us waiting so long, then said that most of dishes are not available, food will take so long time, we r so crowded!!!Why did you let us in at the beginning we made it very clear and asked directly whether a reservation is needed or not and you said No reservation needed.I wasted 30 mins for nothing and i decided to leave because i felt that we r not welcomed
MoreFood is tasty ,location is perfect ,very good view , staff is friendly
Taste is perfect , friendly team , location is more than perfect directly on the river Nile, it is a nubian restaurant oriental one , some how prices are high with respect to aswan .overall do not miss it
MoreA wonderful Nubian experience: beautiful colors, view in front of the Nile riverThe manager is very professional and the Nubian staff are so kind and professional. I highly recommend this place for your vacation in Egypt, Aswan 🇪🇬
MoreGreat experience I loved the place, people and food ❤
Kato dool is an incredible Nubian house, beautiful, colourful and full of peace and tranquility beside the powerful River Nile! The food is good and well cooked, the coffe is amazingly good, here you are served a descent latte macchiato or espresso. The cleanliness are perfect and i love the effort they have put into the small details, for instance the coffe cups reminds of a modern designed serial made of Villeroy & Boch, even the lemon juice is nicely presented and tasty at this hostel, the rooms are lovely! Often Egyptian Hotel or hostel miss this small details or finishing which makes it perfect! My warmest recommendations!
MoreNot totally authentic. A commercial presentation alleged to be authentic. Yes the family(slive there but they all are involved in giving tourists a stress free view of a family compound.
MoreThe place is really nice. The owner Mr. Hakim is who u should look for...Bad things.. Amr the manager and his assistant Sarah tried to ask for very high price for the room (extremely expensive on booking 1800 per nightwhile in location is 900 egp for the night. They wanted to charge the booking price although we canceled through booking. We had lunch at the place and chicken was frozen inside hence not fresh at all.. We complained and they told us not to pay for all of it ( nice of them)..Good things, . The Nile view room...we had room number one was really nice very clean, cozy and comfortable. Design of the ceiling makes echo inside the room. View is limited to a small window but u have a terrace with great viewOm Ali a typical Egyptian dessert was great we ordered it at night and tasted so goodThe owner is so helpful. He is there in the morning only.. Ask for his help with anything.. He drove us with his speed boat to our next hotel and cut a lot of extra charge in the room pricing when we told him we were not happy with the pricing and the cleanliness of the room on the second day
MoreVery good place, great food and service, also the view is great too!
