Schloßstraße 24, 01067 Dresden, Germany, Dresden
Landmark 18th-century structure by Gaetano Chiaveri, restored after damage in World War II.
Free admission. You will find some painting master pieces in this church. There are also some days with organ concert for a very small fee. Its also a good place to pray a bit for everyone who lost their lives and family members in the bombings of 1945. 🙏
Recognizable tower of Dresdens skyline
Stunning during the day and by night

beautiful
Visited on 6 Jun 2022. Impressive with the cathedral and the occassional chimes of the bell
Simply beautiful. The priest (Fr. Büchneris also really kind and a pleasure to speak with. Theres another regular priest (evening mass on Sundaywho loves to challenge his listeners to follow Jesus faithfully. For anyone interested in learning more about the Christian faith they offer a Glaubenskurs (in Germanwith the possibility to be baptised/confirmed at the end during Easter.Mass there is a bit impersonal because there are always new people and few regulars (unless youre there for morning mass on Sunday). But its a great place even to visit as a tourist. The construction work has been concluded and it looks beautiful again!
It is for sure one of the symbols of Dresden: nice cathedral, named Heilig-Dreifaltigkeitskirche, also known as Katholische Hofkirche. It was designed by Italian architect Gaetano Chiaveri. It is located on Schloßplatz in the Altstadt in the center of Dresden, Saxony, and is the cathedral of the Dresden-Meissen diocese. Originally a parish church, it was elevated to the status of cathedral of the Diocese of Dresden-Meissen in 1964. Since 1980 it has had the title Holy Trinity Cathedral.
This baroque church stands grandiously in close proximity to the Augustus Brücke, now completely renovated. This splendid church stands out at Schloßplatz with its numerous statues at the roof and around the building. The inside reveals the portraits of saints, but also statues of a more modern touch. The Church has also been recently renovated. Its undoubtedly worth a visit, both as a tourist, for its interior and exterior beauty and, as a Catholic for the mass and the kindness of the priest Büchner.
This church is one of the brightest and most uplifting Catholic Churches in Germany. The unique design of the circular windows on the top of the main nave makes this place luminous throughout the day. The 1755 Organ is the largest work of Gottfried Silbermann, albeit finished by Zacharias Hildebrant.
The sheer scale of this object - truly megalomaniacal. Worth it to merely walk in its shadow and feel the thrust of the walls pushing into the ground.
Remarkable place
Sooo beautiful. I love this monument for its beautiful architecture. I really love it and the position is strategic with some breathtaking views on top of it. I feel soo lucky to be here and see such a great peace of art. I visited it in winter with snow and this is the best view ever.
Lovely church. Nice and scenic. Old heritage. Photo point. Must visit.
Looks amazing from outside. The insights are in renovation till the middle of february
The most beautiful church, unfortunately it’s currently under construction.
What a wonderful things! Its really good place.from outside you can see how beautiful is it.This place is very historical and very romantic but the situation still crowded because it located near the famous river in dresden
Great place to visit
A place to visit, to rest and to calm down. The heart of famous King August II, is always in Dresden - here!
It smells history... Unbelieveable ⛤
Royal place, you can get amazing photos, great atmosphere
Interesting church. Sightly and worth for 5-10 minutes to spend on viewing and taking some pictures, if you are not far from this place.
Great history and great buildings
Lovely & beautiful architecture! Simply aw struck!!!
Despite as a restored building, the architechure properties is impressing, with details to individual statues that lined the top of the building. It is an artwork and heritage of the area. I particularly liked the scene at the exterior area where we can see the intersection of the building and the clock tower.
Very beatiful historical places....many nice coffees and bars...
Katholische Hofkirche is situated in lovely walks of Dresden.Very beautiful and wonderful church. It stands on the old Town Elbufer between the castle and the theater square. The golden - white interior is worth watching.Very peaceful, calm and great place.
White and gold interior. Beautiful in both summer and winter.Wonderful to see so many at mass on a week night. All are welcome although naturally the service is in German. We came in quietly out of the cold.
Very cool cathedral. It mostly survived the allied bombing.
Simple church. Not much wall painting.
Nice church but seems like no entry
I still cannot forget the fantastic sound of Silbermann pipe organ here. The architecture is well blended with sunlight from above. Highly recommended!
Free entry to church, when we were there they were playing music on the organ it was very relaxing.
Its a lovely church that was rebuilt after WWII. Its not as ornate as you might expect but it has a magnificent collection of paintings of the stations of the cross. Its rumored that there is a crypt tour available but I never saw any evidence of that.
Katholische Hofkirche (Dresden Cathedralis a landmark building at Schloßplatz in the city centre of Dresden and an interesting attraction to visit and see while sightseeing. The Cathedral was originally designed and built by Italian architect Gaetano Chiaveri (1738-1751). It was badly damaged during the Bombing of Dresden in 1945 but restored during 1980s and then again in the early 21st century. The facade is quite attractive with a single decorative tower in front and roof lined with saints, similar to what you see at St. Peters Basilica in Rome. If you enjoy architecture, the church is well worth walking around to view. It blends quite well with the Royal Palace attached by way of an elevated and enclosed footbridge. The interior is less elaborate than Italian churches, but hints of Baroque were given by Chiaveri in its design. Have a look at the marble pillars at the main alter, which also features a lovely painting of an ascending Christ. It is worth a walk around the church to see other paintings, smaller chapels and the main nave with its hall columned walls.Overall, we enjoyed our quick visit to Katholische Hofkirche. It is a less interesting to see compared to the more ornate Frauenkirche at Neumarkt but still worth worth a 10-15 minute visit if you enjoy seeing historical churches during your travels.
It’s a must see In Dresden, I love the Saxony style, it’s so beautiful.
Nice Church with great exterior design.
The brickwork on this building is amazing. You have to look at every building and imagine it was rubble and how its been built back just amazes me every time! Shame that some places in the world cant even build something like this one time, never mind two times after what the allies did to Dresden!
Interesting layout and interior design for a catholic church. Worth doing a tour to get a good explanation of it.
Amazing place with great history, worth to visit!!!
Beautiful baroque cathedral
Nice, but really big. Not so clear where Eucharist is. Memorial of martyr P. Alois Andricky, too.
Amazing place with great history but i dont have time to go inside but enjoy walking around with our guide during our tour, but there was alots of construction and workers
Nicely looking old church.
Superb place especially in the night
Lovely architecture. Historically interesting too. Definitely worth a visit.
Hofkirche, a catholic church in Dresden is built in a city of contrast. The rulers were Catholic, converted to ascend the throne of Poland. Its subjects were Lutheran, going as far as having a competing church, the Frauenkirche built around the same time as the Hofkirche. Construction of Hofkirche started a decade later and upon completion immediately become a dominating silhouette of the Dresden skyline. It’s worth taking a closer look at the Hofkirche. Intricate statues along its facade as well as the burial place of almost all the electors of Saxony.
This Cathedral is previously the most important Catholic parish church of the city, it was elevated to cathedral of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Dresden-Meißen in 1964. On my second trip to Dresden I finaly entered this pretty building with refined architecture.Hofkirche aka Trinity Church is located at Theater Square just on the rite corner or the Zwinger and across the fame Semper Opera House. You are allowed to take photos inside! :D
Its political story is far more interesting than the building it self.
Fantastic architecture! It is interesting that this church is actually white inside. And its huge
