Oyster bar and seafood restaurant in art deco-styled Savoy hotel dining room overlooking the Thames.
I visited on a quiet week day lunchtime and found the food to be excellent, I can recommend the crab 🦀 with blinis & black caviar, the lobster bisque Tom Yum 🦞🍅 soup and the salmon 🐟 with any of the side dishes. Im also pleased that they could make me a fresh mint or fresh ginger tea 🍵 as a special request. The general ambience of the restaurant and hotel is delightful and staff are pleasantly friendly.
A classic that needs no introduction nor even reviewing. A beautiful art deco setting with live piano in the background. Excellent, friendly and attentive service. All asked us how we were and gave us a free dessert to share because it was a special occasion. The food top quality as would be expected given the steep but not outrageous price tag.Would recommend and will definitely go again.
Fine dinning with a personal touch...Took my partner here for his birthday and the food was amazing as was the ambienceSaving up to stay over one day.. Loved it
Our experience here was just outstanding! Our waiter Freddie, was just storybook attentive! The food, compliments to the chef, turning even an egg into a gourmet experience! The greetings from the hostess are very welcoming and the aviabce is special!
Place is beautiful, food is good, but served a bit weird. All food, from starers to dessert was served on the same plates, too big in most cases. And we got dessert forks for eating oysters.
I attended the Kaspar restaurant for my 4Oth and resevered a set menu and table x3 weeks prior only to be told by the lady who was ignoring me and really and truly was unhelpful and unaoligetic. She needed a muzzle to shut up. I was not impressed and the restraunt did not bother communicating and advising me instead made me come to London to find out on the evening.Rest of the night was pleasant as I asked to speak to the mangerm. She made us micktails and failed to advise us on the cist. X2 micktails @£24 I was not happy when I received the bill. So the food was good but not the menu I wanted and then I did feel they cared about my special evening . Im diassappointed on this event . I be been before had no issues.
Low quality food (questionable freshness). Overpriced. Regret not sending the food back and leaving. Savoy is a beautiful venue. Coming back there for drinks only and live piano music.
Beautiful decor. Lovely piano music. Friendly staff. Laughable vegan option - cauliflower steak. The description mentioned beans and potatoes, but they were sprinkled on top of the one inch thick cauliflower slice. For £24 you at least expect to get one potato or whole cauliflower worth of money. Also, ordered spinach with raisins and pine nuts on the side, but it had fishy/algae taste, which means it was far from fresh. Left hungry. Coffee was not very nice and overpriced as well. They dont have to do a vegan option, but if they do, please make it calorie sufficient. My guess is my dinner was under 200 calories. Before they had a vegan risotto option, which was very nice and filling. Not sure what happened to the new menu.
Beautiful room. Outstanding service. But the food was so lacking as to be embarrassing. We had the crab and caviar, lobster bisque and dover sole. Honestly nothing worth mentioning in all of it.
Don’t be intimidated by the location it is a fantastic restaurant, with friendly staff were happy to explain the food and drink menu. I have been many times and have loved the service and food, it’s at the savoy hotel with views over the river Thames what a wonderful place we great air-conditioning on a hot day. You can get 3 courses for around £50 what is not to like.
We went to Kaspars for a birthday breakfast. Overall, theres not much to be surprised by Kaspars - the service, ambience, and attention to detail are all superb, and what you would expect from a location as prestigious as the Savoy. The food is great - pleasant waiters were extremely adherent to our dietary requests (which is hard, given we dont eat pork and have a caeliac), and they even managed to get my mum a complimentary gluten free birthday cake, which was a great touch. If there is a problem, its that you can get better food and drink for the price range of around 30-40 pounds per head - however I would imagine most people know that and forego it for the grand experience the Savoy offers.
Went there with the family to celebrate a special occasion. Didnt disappointed at all! Beautiful environment, delicious food, friendly staff making the whole dining experience a real pleasure!
Pricy but you get the London luxury experience in all the dishes. I hope you all enjoy!!
This is a real cosy place fantastic for an afternoon drink, to savour some appetizers or to have a classic, tasty British dinner (i.e. steaks, fresh fish, phaesant, foie gras, etc.The bar is staffed with highly skilled, friendly and service-oriented personnel and offers delicious cocktails, sweet wines (we tried one from Hungary - amazing!!and Champagne. Highly recommend!
Outrageously gorgeously flavourful food at suitably outrageous prices. Staff with more manners than I knew what to do with. Art Deco everywhere. Utterly, utterly fabulous
Excellent restaurant at the heart of London. Meals cooked professionally and with great taste. Service is very good yet with room for improvement. I personally recommend a maitre de salon present at all times to keep an eye on the waiters and react to client needs.
This place will never stop to be one of the best places for breakfasts in town! The customer service is at the finest, the decor is very nice and the breakfasts are super tasty! It all comes with at high price tag but its worth every single penny! Highly recommended
Excellent dining experience. Especially for a pre-theatre meal.Service is impeccable, the quality of food was top notch. With amazing atmosphere (live piano). If you are in the area it is a must, especially if you enjoy your seafood. They have an excellent selection of fresh fish. Will be heading there again soon.
Went there for lunch and I wasnt impressed. Its an odd restaurant, the food was acceptable but not exceptional and the service didnt match the price. The place is nice but the mixture of diners was odd, business lunchers, couples, a very noisy group, a family taking a break from shopping and assembling the little boys toy on the table !! So I am not sure why I would ever go back. I think its just a hotel restaurant and nothing special.
Had an amazing meal here, absolutely no complaints at all! From the moment we walked through the door the service was excellent; knowledgeable, helpful and friendly. It’s a very short menu but nothing wrong with that. Newlyn Dover sole was simple, superlatively cooked and served on its own. We preferred it with a sauce of brown butter and capers which was delicious. The place can be a bit crowded during peak hours but not chaotic. Definitely worth a visit!
Our team in work had a breakfast there for a birthday. Its an extremely impressive dining room, with a nice view over the Thames and the lobby through which you pass into the dining room is lavish and stately. The food is really good - can recommend the scrambled eggs and smoked salmon, with unlimited grapefruit juice, coffee, teas and toast. Only slight issue was the service was pretty slow considering the place/price and it wasnt even that full. Either way, a nice change from the norm
Yes nice food and a great place heaped in history but sorry to say but it didnt live up to expectations. My partner and I visited here as a special treat. We chose from the 3 course menu which is slightly cheaper (or so we thoughtbeing £36pp. We had a bottle of wine too costing £52 (2nd cheapest on the wine list). We also added some broccoli to our order costing £6. The total bill came to £146. It included a discretionary 12.5% service charge being £16. We knew it would be expensive and as said it was a special treat so we were happy to pay a bit more but looking back we feel it fell far short and not worth the £146.The service over all was at best a bit amaturish and not what we expected. No one offered to take our coats when we sat down nor did they place the napkins on our laps. There were 6 inches between our table and the 2 adjacent to us resulting in us, and our neighbouring guests, as good as whispering so as to not be overheard. We noticed during our meal that another table was brought out to accommodate more guests but this was placed right in the walk way just outside the kitchen area so doubt they would have been too impressed with the constant flow of staff past their table during the meal. The restaurant certainly knew how to pack the guests in thats for sure. On top of that our table wasnt fully cleared between courses. The food was good but tbh we thought it would have been more wow. The bowl of broccoli consisted of 6 small florets. The same wine in the shops is £16.... yes we know they will charge extra but thats still quite a mark up. It was placed in a ice bucket but as there was no room by the table was a distance away again detracting from the expected wow experience.Maybe it was because they were busy that we experienced such. Or maybe because we were on the 3 course menu offering. But really? At that price one would have thought youd get a better experience. And with it being the Savoy perception is it would have been incredible. But far from it. Not because of the price but because of what we got for our money. We have reflected since our visit and have come to conclusion that its become too touristy, too commercial and has taken for granted (and become lazywith the name and history that Savoy projects. We wont be revisiting nor recommending it.
We got invited by some friends and had a superb meal. The Irish Angus beef fillet was excellent as was the lobster and crab bisque. The truffle risotto was very tasty and perfectly cooked and the pear clafoutis was lovely. Not cheap but worth it for the experience and the food.
A fabulous dining experience. Located inside the beautiful Savoy Hotel, Kaspars features delightful seafood options. The bisque is exceptional and the presentation only adds to the flavor. The wine list and master sommelier enhance the dinner. Save room for the creative dessert choices.
I went for the sole reason of comparing the experience of ordering omelette Arnold Bennett to the one in the Wolesley. It did not disappoint and it seems like they threw in the coffee with the cost (£20 for omelette and coffee). Staff were attentive, and service was prompt. The main breakfast room felt a little cramped compared to the high ceilings of the Wolesley. But there were some nice seats near the windows. The omelette was slightly dryer, the cheese was punchier and stringier, but the amount of fish less generous. There was a mixed leaf garnish (parsley and so onwhich seemed an attempt, not necessarily unwelcome, to freshen up this classicly rich dish. It was delicious, but the competition is fierce and I think I ever so slightly preferred the generous amount of fish and hefty richness of the Wolesley version.
My husband & I had the most perfect date night at Savoy London: dinner at Kaspar’s followed by drinks and dessert at Thames Foyer (while listening to amazing live jazz musicians). It was magical in all aspects: history, beauty, food quality, atmosphere and service. And the music! We split a few dishes, including the Best of the Seas seafood appetizer, lobster bisque, Irish black angus beef fillet and the most amazing dessert (they even wrote my name on it!!): a pastry called Paris-London which has homemade praline and chocolate mousse. Simply unforgettable. Highly recommend this place to visitors and locals alike. Can’t wait to return! P.S. Our server Rosaria (shout out to Rosaria!even brought the statue of Kaspar the cat to our table for a little while (and told us the legend that goes with it!P.P.S. Extra thanks to the whole staff (Aurelia, Alden, Patrick and Rosaria), they made us feel so welcome!
Went last night. The food was great. I am vegan although the rest of our party are not. They have a lovely choice for vegans and nothing was any trouble for them. I had the best dessert I have ever had. Our waitress Janell was wonderful. She was helpful. Informative and reall lovely. Lovely place for a special occasion
Simply delicious. Everything about our visit was wonderful. The staff were very friendly and attentive and knowledgeable about the menu.It was a perfect start our evening and we will be going back.
Superb food and excellent friendly service. So lovely to be presented with a mini birthday cake at the end of our meal. So thoughtful!
Came here for my brothers birthday lunch and we werent disappointed at all. The service first of all was excellent. Roberto made us all feel extremely welcome as soon as we arrived. The food was superb. We started with the best of the seas, which was a seafood platter. I had the lobster linguine for my main which was excellent, flavourful and generously portioned. We had a birthday cake ordered which was comprised of strawberry mousse, cream, fresh berries and a pastry base. Much better than other patisserie Ive had cake from. The ambience is classy as you would expect from a restaurant in a 5 star hotel. Ive been to the Savoy grill as well and would say that Kaspars edges it. If you can only go to one, although both are great, Kaspars would have to be my recommendation.
Lovely location and restaurant. The food was sublime, cooked to perfection and beautifully presented. Staff were friendly and helpful. I had the catch of the day as well and it was amazing.
Great veg menu ... Beautiful decor but wasnt amazed by the food
Kaspars wont put Baby in a corner but they WILL put black people into a corner though.....On October I booked a table for 5:45 PM on November 5 at Kaspars for my mothers birthday using the OpenTable website but because I feared that my mother and I may run a bit late I called Kaspars to let them know we were running late. And although we ran late by only five minutes and Kaspars wasnt packed at all they still sat us by this corner by the window facing the Thames where were sitting next to an older mixed race Irish lady talking with a younger white lady. A short while after theyd both left a nice looking, middle-aged black couple who sounded like they may have been from Trinidad were seated in the table next to my mother and I when I paid our bill. And the look on the face of the lady from that couple when she saw us both it was as if shed seen a grenade go off across the street somewhere. But it was because it was all so obvious and she knew as well so she could also see what they were doing. The service to our table was quite good and the food tasted great even though the lobsters from their grill that my mother and I had were quite small but when theyre there so obviously trying to stick all black patrons in a corner in an iconic London hotels restaurant when its almost 2017 all that service and food damn well BETTER be great and taste great. When there is no special discount given towards the price for tables in the back in corners past a large column then I dont see why certain people need to be sitting in one. Several years ago, I took my mother to the restaurant at the Claridges hotel near New Bond Street for her birthday and they didnt stick us in an out of sight place; their staff even even played Happy Birthday To You on the piano, sang it openly and gave my mother a mini birthday cake even before all the courses came.Patronise the Claridges restaurant. An establishment that doesnt act like London in 1969 back during a time when Elvis Presley was still clinging to life.
Nice atmosphere. Food was ok (main dish to salty). Wine was good. A lot of attention from diferent waiters..maybe to much. Hard to eat, talk and enjoy if some one is constantly asking if everything is OK :)))
Went for a birthday dinner and was blown away at the sheer magnificence. Our starter, the seafood platter, was beyond words and borderline glutenous. The mains, Dover sole and steak, did not disappoint.Next time I’m back, I’ll come with 12 of my closest friends to have the namesake dining experience.
Wonderful and tasty food and extremely nice service. Pricy but worth it! If you ask the staff about the story behind the restaurant they will bring over the famous Kaspar!
Friendly service, good food and decent wine list
Delicious meals, the atmosphere and service are perfection!!!
Well what can I say... its the Savoy! The food and service were top notch. Would most certainly both recommend and go again. The last time I was here was a good atmosphere and we were not left wanting.
Loved it! didnt have much expectation after going to some "famous" restaurants with disappointments. Kaspars has impressed me. Thoroughly enjoyed the dinner, I went with the set menu which was absolutely a bargain. I had the best tuna tartar ever, the brill was soft and smooth, nicely favoured. Dessert was good, nothing really special about it but the starter and main had totally stole my heart. Calling in again this week!
What a perfect way to start the day - gatsby style Art Deco decor surroundings with incredibly attentive staff who are helpful, polite and very approachable. My breakfast choice was Cornish crab eggs Benedict with lemon hollandaise and it was superb. The menu is varied and all looks delicious - options for Japanese and Chinese breakfast including dim sum, as well as a section of breakfast starters.. a first for me!Highly recommended.
I took my mother to kaspars yesterday for a mothers day treat. I had a Groupon voucher for 3 courses and a glass of champagne. Wow is all I can say. We had a table with view of the Thames. The service was exceptional as was the food. Portion sizes were fantastic oh and the cocktail I had to start was pure gin! It didnt stop me drinking it though I might try a different one next time. Thank you for making our mothers day special. Tina Agatone
Sparkling presentation, with the most vivid colours of ice cream and cake you will see anywhere, with colours to match. Huge seats with plenty of leg room and an extensive menu of desserts. Tends to attract a young crowd, and is open late most nights. Loses a star because we were told that we had to leave in 10 minutes due to a minimum stay policy, but this hadnt been explained in advance.
Delishious!! Very plush interior, waiters are well schooled in every dish. I recommend the crab and prawn canneloni. The cocktails are fab too. Booking essential! Tip: try the American bar afterwards for a famous drink or too.
For a guest at Savoy, Kaspars gives a multitude of reasons not to dine outside the hotel. One of the best breakfasts around, try the Cornish crab. Great grill selection. Excellent service.
Wonderful food and dining experience. Staff did an amazing job with our 8 person table. The wine selection is very good. This is not an inexpensive place, but worth it.
Really fantastic food. I had concerns after they changed the River Restaurant for this but they were misplaced. Wide selection on the menu and good wine menu. Reasonably priced. Fantastic service. Attentive but not overbearing. Pork belly was fantastic
Kaspars has got the basics of luxury dining right and offers a very pleasant experience but with somewhat sluggish service. The room and the interior design is exceptional, second to none really. Quality of meals is very decent and does not require any reprimands. Friendly staff however it feels like they would benefit from additional training.Overall, I would recommend this restaurant to Londoners and visitors alike if you seek to experience dining with style.
Pre Theatre supper at 17:30. Restaurant was already buzzing. The atmosphere is relaxed but consummately professional (as you would expect at the Savoy. We had their Fruits de Mer. The quality of the seafood was perfect, my only adverse comment is whilst the quantity was fine, it did not present with the ample magnificence one expects from the dish.
We had a great experience. The food was excquisite, the service was great and the place oozes perfection. The design is 1920s. And it feels heavy, but done to a high standard. We got a table overlooking the river, and although it was dark, you see lit buildings, some river boats crossing etc.Now the food - we had the scallops, and the tuna tartar for starters. impeccable. Altough I wish there was more than 1 scallop (however big it was). The mains were not much worse either - we had the butternut squash risotto and the goats cheese and pumpkin ravioli. The risotto was deep and round, with excellent mushrooms. However, the ravioli was just out of this world. The flavours kept changing in the mouth, tinkling, turning in a smooth and caressing way. 10 out 10.For desert we shared the plum cheese cake. It was just perfect. Not too sweet, not too heavy, just full of baked cheese flavour with chunky bits of plum. The place was quiet, yet classy. The music was turned to perfect volume level and the atmosphere great....thats why I gave it 5 stars.
