Kasanka National Park - Park and Garden in Kasama, Zambia
Kasanka NP
Beautiful environment.
Enjoyed the camping and wildlife
Kasanka National Park is a "Must See" on your bucket list. They say that there is 10 million Straw Coloured Fruit Bats every year. Making it the biggest Mamal migration in the world. I dont know who counted it. But the sky get filled with uncountable numbers of bats. They seem to rise out of the trees. And a never ending , sky filled, bats , just keep on coming and coming. It is really one of those WOW moments in life. But once you have seen the bats, there is not much left to see.
The highlight is the bat migration which is unique to this park. The park hosts a few rare and epidemic species of animals and birds like the black lechwe and shoebill
We visited Kasanka National Park and stayed at Wasa Lodge for the bat migration. The bats exceeded expectations. An absolute bucket list experience.
Bats are not to missed. Experience of a lifetime!!
I love Kasanka
Its beautiful but it is seasonal only for bat viewing
The park is so unique and offers a very serene and relaxing environment. It is home to the famous Bat Migration which is the largest mammal migration in the world and best time to see it is between October - December. The park houses two lodges namely Wasa and Luwombwa as well as camping spots. You’ll have the opportunity to see animals through the game drives offered by Kasanka Trust. The park also houses the Sitatunga which is part of the antelope family and can only be found at Kasanka. For bird lovers, the park is home to hundreds of bird species. I do recommend visiting the park and be ready to have intermittent network especially on Airtel, MTN works just fine. Kasanka is relatively close to waterfalls in the northern circuit
I am kasanka, are you?Great birding experience.
Beautiful place for those who really wanted to cut from the world for sometime and enjoy the moment. This place is also famous for bat migration.
Spectacular and very special. A must see.
Camped at the pontoon camping site. Very pleasant. Came to see the bat migration and its unreal how many there are. Wuite impressive.
Good
Beautiful animals around the park. They are alot of bats
This park is so attractive.. I will visit again when i get time
Must visit
It’s hard to rate this place. Its 5 stars if you go in November just to see the bats because it’s epic. Otherwise, go to Kafue or south luangwa or lower Zambezi. Details....1. No wildlife except for bird watching. Saw some baboons and one elephant after 3 days of being there.2. Very limited food and beverage options at the lodge.3. It’s really tough to get to this park (solid 7 hour drive from Lusaka).
Nice and few people
I loved the drive through.....
Beautiful place
The bat migration it definitely something that needs to be on everyones bucket list
The best time to visit the Kasanca National Park in the dry season where the water is in a few places and almost a lot of animals come. I advise you to visit the promenade in July and August.
Great park, few big animals but amazing birdlife and many sititunga..
Great place for game viewing
Plenty of bats to be seen
Tired and run down. Aside from its draw card of the annual bat migration towards the end of the year, very little attention appears to be given to the rest of the parks potential
Very good
Small and less travel park, nice chalets with great view on the hippo pool. Big crocs on the river, elephant and shoebills and over 400 other flying things on the menu. Great staff will look after you on the different campgrounds and provide firewood and hot water for shower.
Kasanka National Park hosts one of Africa’s most unusual wildlife spectacles and the biggest mammal migration in the world when millions of straw-coloured fruit bats congregate in this tiny bit of Zambia. The migration starts around the end of October each year and lasts around six weeks whilst the bats feast on seasonal fruits including waterberries and loquats. Numbers of bats are most dramatic from the last week of October to the 3rd week of December.
