Kariandusi Museum - Museum in Kakamega, Kenya
The place brings back history alive. You get to understand the whole concept of evolution on a simplified way.
Wow wow 👌 👏 a prehistoric site indeed
Hidden Jem, great location.
Put your life in perspective by visiting a site where humans lived 1,000,000 years ago.
Nice historic site

Nice place
Last time I was here I was 12. I was so impressed by the place I came visiting again years later. This if you have any interest in the beginnings of mankind, then this is a must see.The simplicity of the place and the amount of prehistoric tools found here just makes it crazy not to visit even if for just a moment. And see how your ancestors did business in this planet Earth. I plan to take my sons there as soon as I get a chance.
There are real examples of tools used during the Old stone age period
One of the smallest museums of Kenya, Kariandusi is a must visit if you are in the area. For locals, its quite affordable yet very informative. I just had a crash course in early man, geography, climatology, botany and diatomite(thank you Dickson). The area has picnic spots and camping area. For camping, come with a goat, learn how to make stone axes, make them and slaughter and cut the goat using them. Have bonfire while enjoying your meal. Carry your own music and DJ.The place gets windy and cold at night, prepare for that too.Otherwise its a package deal should you be around elementaita. Also have time, you can visit some few neighbouring sites
Interesting stories about stones and early man. The guide was quite informed and we learnt a lot.
Wow its a real history, but hard to believe.
Nice place to be
Different kinds of stones used by people in AD
It was a random stopover at the place. Very welcoming staff and informed guides. The tour was well worth it. They charge 100Ksh for Kenyan adult citizens. Really glad I went.
Prehistoric but not well kept place, bad road from the highways and poorly advertised...
Nice scenery
High school geography & history becomes practical
You get a to see some of the things we were taught in school about evolution and early man. The tools that they used for hunting and gathering.
Fair
Not much to see
Best place
Great insight and learning experience
Its good place for students studying early-man or archeology
Archeological site
This is a good place for anyone interested in mans evolution journey as well as the formation of the Great Rift Valley.Whether your foundation is religious faith or science, the displays here including the excavations should align with your beliefs. The Curator Assistants are very well versed with the subject matter. If you are a fan of Louis Leakey, this is one of the many excavations he worked on in his early days.Of course like most Kenyan Museums, the place is kinda run down and decrepit but your continued visits will keep it open.Recommended.
A great place of historical importance and a beautiful destination
A pre-historic site. Has guided tours and a very interesting place where one can learn about early man and some early settlements.. And by early I mean 1 million years ago. They have some very interesting exhibits. If you have some time to kill then I suggest everyone should visit atleast once.
Need to know about the History of early man ? Then this is the place to visit
Interesting history, but the place needs renovating
A nice place, with a beautiful gorges and view plus plenty of awesome history. A great place to learn about the early man. Worth the visit definitely.
