Nishtar Rd, Garden East Millat Nagar, Karachi, Karachi City, Sindh, Pakistan, Jhol
Opened in 1878, this 33-acre zoo features over 800 animals, a natural history museum & a garden.
Good Place for kids day out. Amicable facility and amenities available.Refreshments also get inside. Need further renovation and upgrades.Parking is available only from gate 5. Recommend to bring some stuff along like mats, water, food π
Good place to visit. Overall cleanliness was better. However, more animals can be placed in Cages.
It was a nice experience here. You can enjoy here on a very low cost. However it is never been a good idea to keep the animals in cages except for some who can easily be settled in the given environment. Like ducks turtles . Ponies were looking in miserable condition. Water ponds were pathetic. Aquarium glasses are not suitable for eyesight of man n fish. Rest was fine.
Good place but except few most of the animals are not available in cages.. after parking charges and entry charges paid at main entrance...many illegal fee checkpoints created by zookeepers on their own like at elephant cage, snake house, museum etc. Littering is common and people spitting pan, gutka make the zoo quite filthy not appropriate for kids.
Karachi zoo is full of cages of rare animals, theyre so rare that they dont even exist in their own cages. Only 30% of cages have animals, rest are empty. Janwaron say zada to khanay Kay points hain. Jahan animals hain bhi wo itna andhairay ha Kay bachon ko Nazar hi ni aata. Secondly most of the animals are lonely, they dont have partners thats make them lazy and boring. Even monkeys are boring. Sub say zada swans thi, but unfortunately un Kay pond main aik drop bhi paani ka ni tha. Only best part of zoo was Elephants! Warna itnay common animals bhi ni hain. It was neat zoo, but without animals to koi Maza ni.
Nothing has changed over 30 years. Limited animals and birds mostly domestic. Other private zoos in the city are much better. The worst thing, adults ticket is PKR. 50 and children is PKR 30. But no age for children is mentioned on display and the matter is left over to the discretion of uneducated people standing at the entry gate to judge. At least basics should be improved.
Poorly managed historical place, its one of the oldest zoos in the world, must have been managed to attract visitors. Hope it becomes more attractive to visit in future.
Like most of the under government places, Karachi Zoo is not worth to visit. Lazy animals, low class gentry, deteriorated cages welcome you. Elephant pair was the only worth seeing. Besides, there are now local food outlets as well with sitting area.
The botanical garden was a great place to enjoy nature especially on Wednesdays which is a ladies only day. Beautiful and ancient trees make the place a delight to see in the middle of the urban surroundings. The zoo and its animals need more care but they were interesting to see.
It was ladies day yes we went on a Wednesday. The inside loved like a jungle. So dirty not kept well. Animals were sleepy or hiding inside as weather was very hot. But the zoo really needs to be kept properly. The animals need alot of attention. The best part of the zoo were the gorgeous elephants.
Very dirty. Their animal museum is full of paan spits, its roof is falling and paint is in bad condition. Animals are very week. Most of the animals are not present for eg u cant find zebra, giraffe, hippo, rhinos etc. It could be better but they have i think left it to be.
Sadly! am worry about its management, lack of animals kinds and strength.
This is so amazing place specially for kids. There are not much animals but they have 02 Elephants.I came here in 2014 they have many more animals but in 2022 in my last visit I really disappointed because in Karachi Zoo there are not more animals.
Zoo, a name that made us happy with full of excitement in the childhood. Early 1990s when we were kids and always got excited when hearing the plans to visit Karachi Zoo.Sadly, the Era has gone beyond and children nowadays watch animals on YouTube:-(This particular Karachi Zoo has also lost its charm and quality. Not very clean, not taken care of, unfortunately like all other places under Govt. specially Provincial Govt. or City Govt. control .
Gave it five star because what else do you expect to see in Rs 50?!Elephants were magnificent. So was bengal tiger.
Good place to spend some time with your kids.!! Must check their Aquarium.
Need more attention to zookindly filled all the cages in animalsthe childrens enjoy your trip
A pathetic place to visit. All the animals are in very bad condition lions are fighting with death , there is no water in the cage of turtles the cage of elephant is too small for the giant creatures , overall condition is so bad its like a terrible jail for the animals
The management of animals is very weak. Its actually a rush because its the only zoo in nearby areas.
Very Historical and remarkable place since my childhood. Very old trees, greeny, Wild animals, pond , museum of animals, aquarium, birds Avery, kids rides, fun areas for kids , food and refreshments, ice cream, land marks and lots of atrection here. I usually visit here in my childhood and enjoyed. Now my kids enjoy this place. Very peaceful and relaxing place and informative for kids. Kids enjoying to see wild animals, bird and more and enjoy green landscaping. Very improved but need more to do. Missing some animals and birds. Management need to care more the animals and cages. Overall good place to visit with kids.
Karachi Zoo is situated at the heart of city Karachi. This is very old and attractive place to visit with your kids and family in Karachi. Many cages was donated and presented by Talpur families. It requires immediate maintenance of whole garden and good take care of animals. Many animals was died due to lack of careness.Animals are the only attraction and soul of this zoo.however, this is very excellent place for outing with children. There are many kinds of animals elephant, tiger, ostrich, bear, lion, monkey, zebra, fox, hedgehog chimpanzee and many more. It has also play area for children.Mumtaz Mehal is also one of the more entertaining part of this zoo. The head of human and body of fox.Cafeteria was offering many fast food items.
Karachi Zoo.. could be improved a lot .... Spacious ... But lacks maintenance.... Except elephants and lions ...all other animals and birds are available at any other mini zoo in Karachi... No Giraffe .. No Zebra... Only deers.. ostrich ... Peacocks..ducks... Pelicans... Monkey and some other birds ... A snake house and an aquarium also...last but not the least an animal museum where skull of some animals and their mummified or skinned selves are displayed... Rs.50 per head for entering the zoo.. Rs.50 for car parking... Rs.40 per head for each snake house and museum ... Aquarium is free...
Karachi Zoo is very exciting place for kids . but the environment is not very well for animals . and overall environment for visiters are also very bad.
The experience was very good. For a family i would highly recommend.Kids surely will the trip to the zoo
It was amazing. But the main problem is cleanliness even the animals cages are not properly cleaned. Govt must focus on the clealiness to restore the beauty of this zoo.
Beautiful place for children and green and clean environment with many jungle animal like tiger, lion, elephant, zebra, monkey, crocodile, birds etc ticket just Rs:20 for adult and half for child.
Big lush Area for park. 180 animals museum is a fraud. They shout like they have real animals inside but they have the remaining of old death animals. Lions were weak and old. Does not seems like they were fed well.
Its a good experience. Their are many different types of birds. In animals they have Monkey, elephant, turtle , deer , and Tiger. Theres a small fish house , Mumtaz mehal , animal museum. Canteens have average Quality or average price
Awesome Environment......Entry Fee Rs 30 for adultsRs 15 for children under 5 yeras. So huge cages for every animal but most of the cages were empty.crocodile was kept in bears cage.Elephant experience was great. but they are charging Rs 10 each person extra for watching this pair of elephant closely.Food was low quality with high prices.Zinger Rs 200Broast Rs 250300 ml cold drink Rs 50Buggy Ride Rs. 50 per head
KMC has renovated the zoo and it looks beautiful. But the staff is from by bygone corruption era. Over charging on entry tickets, extra charges to go close to elephants which doesnβt have any ticket, goes directly to the guy at gates pockets. This time around found a lot of cages empty.
There are More than 50% Empty cages. Roads are damages. Deputed staff responsible to take care of elephants they are unofficially charging Rupees 10/- per head without giving any receipts for stand in front of elephant house for giving the opportunity to see closely.Growing plants in front of animal cages restrict vision which need to be trimmed.
Karachi Zoo is full of our childhood memories, this place is still so beautiful & peaceful.Do visit with your kids and family and give them some amazing memories.
Karachi Zoo also known asΒ Karachi Zoological Gardens, is located inΒ Karachi,Β Sindh,Β Pakistan. It is the largest zoo in Pakistan and the second oldest zoo in the country afterΒ Lahore Zoo.Karachi Zoo, established in year 1878, was commonly called as Mahatma Gandhi Garden. Earlier in 1861, the zoo was transferred to municipality by theΒ British IndianΒ government. In 1878, the municipality placed the zoo under a trust to be developed out of public subscription. Later, the zoo was once again opened to public in 1881. After theΒ independence of PakistanΒ in 1947, the name was changed to Karachi Zoological Gardens or Karachi Zoo for short. In 1953,Β Karachi Metropolitan CorporationΒ introduced a zoo curator and a qualified veterinary doctor. In 1991-2 CDGK for remodelling of Natural History Museum, which was carried out. In 1992, the Japanese Princess inaugurated the remodeled Natural History Museum. In 2008, total employees of Karachi Zoo is about 240 staff members.Elephant HouseΒ is the most famous exhibit in the zoo. A 65-year-oldΒ Asian elephant, named Anarkali, died on 19 July 2006.Β Two femaleΒ African bush elephantsΒ arrived at the zoo on 16 May 2010 fromΒ Karachi Safari Park. Both were born inΒ TanzaniaΒ in 2007 and have been named Noor Jahan and Madhu Bala.Natural History Museum, renovated in 1992, is one of the more famous attractions in Karachi Zoo. Apart from stuffed animals, skins, antlers, horns and feathers etc. are also placed on display in the museum. The facility is used by zoology students for research and educational purposes.Reptile HouseΒ was extended and renovated in 1992. It is one of the few reptile houses in Pakistan. There are 13 species of snakes and lizards. Newly born hatchlings ofΒ TestudinesΒ andΒ crocodiliansΒ are also exhibited.Veterinary HospitalΒ was established in 1998 in Karachi Zoo with modern diagnostic facilities. There is an operation theatre, equipped with X-ray and sonogram facilities, multiple sick bays, a laboratory and an incubation room.Mughal Garden, established in 1970, has green lawns with seasonal plants that occupy a major part of the garden accompanied byΒ Mughal-style fountains. The garden is famous for the different varieties ofΒ rosesΒ and other flowers that are exhibited there.White Lions, purchased in 2012 and a big draw for the zoo, is a part of a breeding programme.
By fair judgement, it can be defined as an ill maintained Zoo under Karachi Metropolitan Corporation, a lot of visitor from suburbs of Karachi are found rushing to this place, nothing worth mentioning except thats its a Zoo !!!Walking into the Zoo was a dusty path from a run down rusted gate. Parking is next to impossible. After seeing Zoos around the world this Zoo was very sad looking and empty. Barren is more the word. If you must visit take the mini toy train to cruise the Zoo. From the gate to the left most bird cages are empty. Few have animals then empty. Grass, greens, water in need of attention. By the quick time I was done I was covered in dust. This was a school trip to the Zoo for Grade 1 to 3. Not sure I would recommend it to anyone.Location of the Zoo is in the mid of a congested part of the city. I would rather feed my birds and look out of the patio then ever go there again.
Good and economical place for children even for mature but nature lovers. All over covered with 100 years old Banyan trees. Bit issues with maintenance but still looks good with natural atmosphere. Wednesday reserved for ladies and children only. Not even husband or brother may go inside with them. Siberian tiger, Lion, White lion, boating in artificial lake etc are must experience things.
Hey everyoneSo.. Today we went to the zoo believe it or not it was awesome! We went at 9 AM and when we reached there wasnt a single person.. so if you want to go.. go early as there wont be as much people... the bathrooms were clean π well if you go in the afternoons obviously the toilets would be dirty as there would be a lot of rush.So I suggest you to go in the mornings. There were a variety of Lovely animals... And many people ask this question.. the price for entering was RS 30 per person and even parking charges were there well I dont remember the prices... and you are also allowed to take food for the animals and yourself but the food for the animals must be FRESH and many Food areas were there too!You can even go to the boat ride and even jumping castles, trains, rides and many moreMake sure to visit *Karachi Zoo Park* its AMAZINGNote : I request you to change the water of the ducks and the boat area.. And open *The Mughal Palace*
Parking available.Fast food available.Kids enjoyment place.Family enjoyment place.Kind staff.Neat and clean.Cold drinks available.Good envoirment for olds.Nice musem.Tasty pop corn. Many kinds of Animals and birds available.Full of joy.Fantastic place.Nice.Lovly.Excellent place for family trip.Amazing ride in train inside zoo. Many kinds of Animals and birds available.
Excellent place for children outing and very clean environment for kids for playing games. There is lake also in the Zoo park where motor boats π’π’π’π’ are available for kids for entertainment.Mumtaz Mahal is also a miracle and untold story, I think it is man make some trick and making money by ticketing to see the Begum mumtaz. There is also some entertaining area for children and we have enjoyed a lot there.Shops for eating and cold drinks are also available, but take care of your kids because cold drinks are not good for kids and it can make their throats disturbed which can results high fever.Overall this park zoo is very awesome die many facilities at one place.
Only zoo in karachi. Does contain some precious animals and birds but lot of effort needed to improve the cages condition and must create more modern play and activity area for kids.
Clean but still not managed upto the mark. entire backyard space is a total ruin. many cages are empty. Pair of white lions and tigers were the best it had to offer. Still a must go place for parents of young kids
Good for Children Visit, Good Cleaning of Roads and Garden area, but poor situation in cage. Entry Ticket was Rs.50/- per person, Parking is available, Bike Parking Fees is Rs.30/-, Toilet not Good and Charging Rs.20/- for toilet, Govt. Should take action them. Many things are hijack in Zoo and peoples are making private profit. This park should be only for Family,Gents without family should be not allowed.
Karachi Zoological Garden is a very old place made to entertain Karachi people especially children. If we compare it from our childhood when we used to visit here. In last 45 years it feels be deteriorated in form of animal collections. Cemented construction and food stalls looks to be dominating the environment. But never the less it is still a place children love to visit β€ π
It was awesome, didnt meet an expectation. And we got some unusual public dealing by staff and co-workers. And there should be some dustbins in greenery. But it doesnt mean that we felt boring. No we enjoyed as we can. Thank you.
A cheap all in one must goto place for kids 3years and above. Entrance ticket was 50rs. Inside the snakes and camens costed another 20rs per head. The train costs 30rs per head. Children below 3 are free. There was also a museum for petrified animals and that was 180rs. We didnt go there. There was alot to enjoy outside. The boats were 50rs per head.
Its a huge area located in the heart od Karachi but very poorly managed. The govt. should take proper care of the zoo.Few years back I had visited the zoo & had many animals there. The condition of zoo itself was fair. Now many animals are missing, the condition in which the animals are kept is not upto the mark. Instead of animals there are more rides. People come to the zoo to see the animals not to take rides. Rides are there in the parks & there are many of them. Plz take care of these animals & try to increase the numbers instead of decreasing it. Zoo has becoming a dating point. Couples hiding in places which makes the visitors shamefull. Management should take notice of these issues otherwise if they cant run it properly then they should give it to a private organisation so that they could run properly.
You have to walk way too much just to see One animal animals are way too far from each other and also less. They havent improved the zoo. It needs to be improved and should be renovated.
After a long.... Time had a visit with kids... And I was amazed after watching the drastic improvement in cleanliness and atmosphere...Entry ticket was only PKR 30 however parking was for PKR 100...It was better than before very less smell.. some of the animals are very skinny... Which was a bit disappointing however I had a visit 5 years back.. and that was horrible...In comparison with what I have seen earlier and what I saw just recently I must give it 3.5 stars.. πTip: go early I. The morning around 9 am so u will not find out too crowdy...Cheers thumbs up !!!
We saw lovely animals! Esp loved white big lion, golden tiger and elephants. But it was too much crowed on Sunday. Zoo needs more cleaning and maintenance. And public should be fined too on throwing garbage in the Zoo. Anyways it was a very good place to take your kids!
Karachi zoo is supervised by Karachi Municipal corporation and perhaps only government operated zoo in Karachi. Its a big place and recently the government have made many changes to make it more entertaining. But still it has many areas where there is a need of improvement. One of the biggest downfalls is that it is really not family friendly. Any one can enter the zoo and most of the times single boys and men are an annoyance for the ladies. Many cages are empty or the animals are not healthy. Its also because maybe they are not well fed. Anyway a moderate place to visit. Needs lots of improvements. Peace
Yesterday i had a family picnic here it was great I really enjoyed there tickets was on very cheap prices every ticket is under 50pkrs nearly animal is in the zoo park was safe for people because animals are in heavey metal cages food items are also available I also visited museum and aquarium aquarium is my favorite
